CHAPTER 3:
YOUR LOVE IS THE SOLUTION.
Why did the cat king jump in front of him
That was the first question he had when he woke up in the morning, face to face with the cat king still holding his hand.
Why would he sacrifice for Edwin so easily? Just because he was fascinated by him? It didn’t make any sense to Edwin.
Edwin stayed in that position looking at the man’s face while he peacefully slept, waiting for him to wake up so he could ask him everything he wanted to know
It took at least two more hours until the cat king started to slowly open his eyes, Edwin was resting his head on the headboard still trying to look for clues for a curse that had the symptoms the cat king experienced, when suddenly and softly he felt a hand on his hip.
The king looked at him with his eyes half closed, The king looked way paler than yesterday his forehead being scrunched like he was in pain, sweating profusely.
“Are you okay?” Edwin asked, worry visible on his face ‘Do you feel any pain from your back?’
“What? Maybe, I don't know. I feel like my whole body is in pain”.
After hearing that Edwin took his bag and searched for a vial with a pain potion. When he found it he quickly gave it to the king and made him drink it.
“This should stop your pain for some hours”
“Thank you”
“I should also thank you for saving me yesterday, but I don't understand something”
“And what's that?” The king sat up crossing his legs, looking directly in his eyes.
“Why didn't you use your power to stop the knife? Why did you jump in front of me when you know I am a ghost” Edwin asked almost frantically “Even if the knife was made of silver it wouldn't hurt that bad, you on the other side are still half human and could get killed”
“Didn't you notice something strange when you were around me Edwin?”
“No, what?”
The cat king looked amused and he didn't understand why. Why do you think two normal useless and stupid humans actually saw you and talked with you. Oh! he didn't even realize he was too focused on the task of being a fake king.
“Also I forgot about my magic at that moment. I just wanted to make sure you didn't get hurt”.
“Why would you protect me like that?"
“Because I love you.”
There was silence for a while they both sat there looking in each other eyes until Edwin asked
“Why?”
“I told you at first you were fascinating to me and then I wanted to impress you and make you like me”. The Cat King scooted closer to Edwin “But you are in love with that best friend of yours and realized I don't even stand a chance. Then there is our last meeting in the alley where you said we are both lonely and I felt like you finally understood me, but you just kissed my cheek and then left for London. I slowly realized not having you near me made me miss you even more, Now that you came back to help me I think it's my chance to winning your heart and I'll do everything for that. Someone loved him !Someone else beside Charles would risk his life just to show him how much they loved him.
“Thank you” Edwin finally said. “For sharing your feelings with me but I don't know how to answer yet. If you give me more time I feel like I could give you an answer.”
Sure I understand. Take how much time you want. I am good at waiting. Edwin felt more calm after hearing the cat answer.
Now do I get a reward for saving you like a hero that I am.Cause I feel like i kinda deserve one
Edwin started laughing. How can he say something so romantic and then act like a child that deserves a reward for doing something good.
Ok what do you want as your reward ?
Hm I don't know what do you say about a hug ? Edwin felt his heart just from his chest but opened his hand wide open ready to embrace him
The cat king didn't hesitate and quickly put his arms around his waist hugging him tightly. Edwin let him stay like that how much he wanted and played with his curls while enjoying the warmth he felt from the man.
Now i need to see your injury so I could bandage it again and give you a potion for pain so do you want to let me go or not?
The king held him harder than before so he took it as a sign he wouldn't let go to soon
Alright can you at least bring my bag closer to me
With a mini hand movement the king made the bag appear right beside him
Could you lift your shirt please
The king took his shirt throwing it across the room without a care
Edwin slowly lifted the bloody bandages and looked at the injury. The stiches were holding together with the help on the magical bandage, the only problem was the swollen skin so he took the bloody bandage off and threw it on the floor, took the old gauze with the other and started applying new ones.
When he was finished that cat king made the bandages dissappear with a swift move of his hand.Then Edwin told the cat king to change in new clothes.
The king snapped his fingers and appeared dressed in a pair of silk trousers and a baggy black t-shirt
Then the king layed down on the bed once again about to go to sleep again when he asked
Can you give me your hands Edwin? Edwin was taken aback by the question but gived him his hand and told him it's because he wanted to make the king happy not something else
The cat king took his hands between his put them in front on him. So that now that you know you are no longer a ghost when around me don't you plan on doing something you could never do before. Like what? Ghost can't feel the taste of food right? Well we can eat it but it's gonna taste like sand. Then do you wanna go outside tomorrow and eat all the food you wanted to eat but couldn't. That was a really good idea .Plus Edwin wanted to finally feel the taste of a good coffee. Would you sacrifice one of your days to go with me to do that? Sure it's not like I can do something at the moment feeling like that anyway. Then I really want to go to a coffee shop I saw a while back when we had a cases here. Thank you for doing this for me. Edwin was happy he finally could do something he wanted. You look cute when you're smiling you should do that more times. He felt his face getting red. Oh stop flirting and go and rest. The king laughed for a while until he decided he was really tired and feel asleep while holding Edwin hand.
This felt just something a normal couple could do but they weren't one Edwin didn't know if he actually loved the man or just had a soft spot for him.
He ignored his emotions and got back to reading .
After some hours he finally found a curse with the symptoms the king had but he may be wrong because the curse was a curse about love . Because If the person doesn't find they true love or having the person they like not like them back that ment death. The person affected by the curse will day of a slowly pain that will take their energy until the person doesn't know what to do anymore and will kill themselves .
He is the the one causing the pain of the cat king.
