Chapter Text
You take a sip of your chocolate milk, looking out at the lively streets of Japan. It's been a couple of days since you’ve arrived in this world and you’ve found yourself getting used to it. Sure there were a couple villain attacks here and there, but it was never something too big. At most there was some property damage and minor injuries, so you consider yourself lucky, for now at least.
At this point you only needed one more day to complete the Tidal Tyrant set, so you planned on heading to the beach for the last time today before prepping for the exams tomorrow. You already spent most of today gathering as much information as you could find online, but eventually you reverted back to doom scrolling on your phone, laying on your bed, as Momo watched over your shoulder similarly entranced.
“Momo let’s head out, we’ve definitely been laying here for way too long…” You put your phone into your inventory and stretch out your limbs, letting out a sigh you hop off of the bed and open your virtual dresser.
Wait host, we didn’t finish watching the funny cat video!!! ᕙ( ᗒᗣᗕ )ᕗ
You ignore Momo's whining and think about which outfit you wanted to wear. 'I guess I should use a civilian outfit before getting into the water, I’m tired of human interaction.’ You browse through your completed sets and finally settle on the Stellar Symphony set.
Equipped: Stellar Symphony [set]
It was ocean themed so it was overall very blue with small pink whale motifs throughout the look. It consisted of a dress, a cropped white coat, blue belts around the waist and around the baby blue socks, cute shoes with bows on them matching your beret that also had a bow on it. To top it all off you were holding a light blue bag with the same pink whale your hair clip portrayed while your hair was in a light pink bob, the ends of your bangs gently curling around your face. (A.N. Outfit 1)
‘Let’s just change the makeup, I'd like to at least set one aside, separate from all of my other identities.’ It wasn’t hard to choose which makeup looks would be reserved for each disguise you had, especially with all of the personality switches that came with them.
A few of the main basic looks you settled on were:
Hollow pupil, Nightmare Foreword - Villain
Lingering Oath, Rainbow Sundown - Hero
Warm smile, Cloud Lady - Civilian
The hollow pupil set was a no-brainer, you had practically only been seen with that face by villains, so there wasn’t exactly any other option. It was essentially the same for the Lingering Oath look as well, and an elegant and graceful look fit the hero look just fine. In addition to those two, you also restricted the Nightmare Foreword and Rainbow Sundown sets to villain and hero respectively. It was more of a matter of personality traits than looks, as the Nightmare Foreword gave you a cold and indifferent tone while Rainbow Sundown gave you a bubbly and upbeat side.
Of course it could be fun to switch the two, but to make it easier for yourself you decided to keep the two distinctly in cliche groupings. Like having more cheerful and outgoing personalities as a hero and more closed off or reserved ones as a villain. Regarding the civilian outfits, you had several planned out and simply put aside the most plain looking faces. Anything that had basic colored eyes, like brown, and more simple expressions, like a small smile or frown was put aside. But maybe later on you would personally pick out some looks for some extra spice in your acting.
Lets go out host, today's the day i'll teach you some tips and tricks for battling both in competitions and out of them!
ヾ(。✪ω✪。)シ
"What's with the sudden switch in attitude? I saw the way you were watching those videos, you didn't even say a single word-"
Lets just go!!! I've changed my ways, I'm going to be your knowledgeable senior, just like ---- from ----! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
"You've been binge watching those shows haven't you..."
Hehe, I can't help it (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)
Equipped: Warm smile [makeup]
You finished preparing your outfit and grab the doorknob, like before, a flash of blinding white light engulfed your vision and you step out into what Momo now lovingly calls, “(Y/N)’s alleyway hideaway”.
You’ve already made the trip to the beach and back several times now and could practically walk there with your eyes closed, not that you’ll try it anytime soon though. The sun had already dipped below the horizon by the time you reach the water, the soft moonlight gently reflecting off of the waves.
Equipped: Distant Thoughts [set], Moonlight Sonata [Left hand holding], Paddling Chord [Foreground]
This time you put on the exact same set as you had these last few days, knowing by habit where each piece you wanted was. You stepped in, the cool water causing you to shiver slightly as you gradually submerge yourself.
The mermaids now trilled and chirped away by your side. You knew the way to the pearls already, but they provided some much needed company and comfort in the gloomy depths of the sea.
Host, you’ve collected enough pearls now! You should craft the entire set and try it on ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
Opening your guide you select the new set, clicking on the crafting signs and after a few quick taps and swipes later, the interface glows brightly, signaling success.
Set complete: Tidal Tyrant!
An achievement banner pops up in your field of vision and a strange symbol appears next to the text. Typically this symbol contains the crest of the location the set came from, but this time you didn’t recognize it. Considering this was a new custom set that came with your new life it was most likely the system’s logo.
You collect the additional rewards that came with the achievement. The custom pose, some gold, and most importantly, the gems. Completing this set gave you 40 gems, it wasn't a lot but you'll take whatever you can get.
"Guess this is it, my one time to relax before everything goes to sh*t." You let out a small sigh, thinking about the exam. It was quite late, or early if that's how you count it. The exam would be later today, so you might just have to wing it. You make your way back to shore, keeping the Distant Thoughts set on.
The cool air greets you again as you walk along the shore, the damp sand beneath your feet sinking ever so slightly with every step you take. The sun was starting to peek above the horizon now, and you wonder how long you spent beneath the waves tonight.
You blink and hear a yell, it was definitely a voice you heard before. You peek around the large pile of trash in front of you and see the green haired boy Momo adored.
Host, host! This is your chance, charm your way into the main plot!! ৻( •̀ ᗜ •́ ৻)
You couldn't help but laugh a little at his silly figure. A small boy screaming at the top of his lungs on some trash as the #1 hero watches, its a very strange but oddly funny scene.
"Hehe, it looks like the little brussel sprout has grown into a cabbage?" You step out, showing a gentle smile as you wave. Every move you made looked elegant and graceful, Izuku's face going red with embarrassment.
"My apologies if I was inturrupting an important moment, I just couldn't help but want to chat~" You watch as he stumbles foward, most likely exhausted from his little late night cleaning session.
Host, quick! Ultra speedy training montage- (*>v<)ゞ*゜+
1. Magic with sets will come instinctively to you, if you want it to happen it will! 2. Every weapon you use, your body will naturally adapt to its style and you will know exactly where to strike for that critical hit! 3. Fashion is very abstract, if you believe that a certain set is made for a certain purpose that purpose will be true! Such as, a red book in the hands of a very clearly fire themed magicy set will become a magic book capable of casting high levels of flame magic!
'I literally did not have time to-"
GO SAVE HIM HOSTTTTT 눈_눈
You lift up a hand. If this set is ocean themed it has to have water themed powers, that's just how the world works right? As you raise your hand a stream of water follows your will, dancing and weaving its path towards Izuku's falling body. It catches him, gently laying him in the embrace of your magic. The water shifts and flows, its very presence exuding magic.
The both of them are shocked, All Might less visibly of course. You gently let him down, setting him on his feet by the pile instead of on top of it. You gave him a bright smile, tilting your head playfully. "Be careful there, wouldn't want you turning into a crushed sprout now would we?"
He nods his head furiously, his previously tired expression no where to be seen. Before he can respond you throw him another question.
"So, tell me. Why were you screaming so loudly on the beach? Someone might even believe there was a villain attack~"
"Oh, u-uhm" He turns towards all might, who's currently in his buff form, presumably because he was about to give Izuku some inspirational words.
"Well, this brilliant young man was training for the UA exams!" All might flashed you one of his signature smiles but somehow, to Izuku, All might's smile looked slightly less radiant after seeing you again.
"And you young lady, with the control you have over your quirk should attend as well!" He throws you a thumbs up, but you remain unfazed by his enthusiam.
'Well, i'm not necessarily just a lady. Technically I can be whatever I want, but best not to confuse them now...'
Shaking off the stray thoughts you pat Izuku softly on the head. "Funny you mention that, after all, I've already registered for the entrance exams. I suppose i'll see you there~"
"R-really?! U-uhm-" He fidgeted a bit before pulling out his phone and bowing at a perfect 90 degrees. "May I have your number please!"
Congrats host, another one down!! б(>ε<)∂
Ignoring Momo's messages you pull your phone out as well. Suprisingly, the theme of the phone had changed to an ocean version. The flower patterns on the back were replaced by waves and the charm was replaced by a small shell and fish charms. The both of you exchange phones and enter your numbers as All might is on the side, saying something about youth and him being proud. You both ignored him.

The air buzzed with tension as you arrived on UA grounds. This time you had on the Tydal Tyrant set, the tails of your coat glowing eerily and a permanent grin on your face. With every step you took your jewelry jingled softly, the pearl between your horns catching the stray rays of sunlight.
As you scanned the crowd more than just several eyes were on you, your presence oozing confidence. You finally spot what, or more accurately who, you were looking for.
"Hey there pipsqueak!" You come up behind Izuku, ruffling his hair as you step in front of him. He turned, and his face paled at the sight of you. His wide eyes darted from your towering form to the sharp, predatory smirk on your face.
"W-who...?!" He looked terrified, but to be fair every bit of your look screamed danger. You gained several inches in height, so you effectively towered over most of the people here. Not to mention your sharp shark teeth presenting themselves every time you smiled.
You raised a brow, leaning in closer. "Aw, the little sprout doesn't recognize me? I was hoping we bonded at least a little bit-" Your eyes narrowed, scanning over his figure with amusement.
His confusion deepened as he took a couple steps back, intimidated by your presence.
“Seriously? We exchanged numbers like, a few hours ago. I guess if you change your whole appearance people tend to forget who you are.” You shrug, playfully sighing as you chuckle at his expression.
”Wait… You’re the one from the beach! Is this your quirk? I-“ Before he can go on a rant a voice called out for everyone to take their seats. Giving him one last grin, you walked off to find your spot, leaving him flustered and overwhelmed.
‘Eugh, boringgggg…’ You slouch in your seat, halfheartedly listening to the instructions. It wasn’t long until the whole plus ultra speech was over and you could finally stretch your arms and try your new set out.
I’ll lead you to your site! You just focus on planning host! (・ω-*)~
The golden trail beneath your feet appears again and you lazily follow it, glancing at the other contestants around you every now and then.
’Damn, I really should’ve at least watched or read more of the series… I’m already so f*cking lost-‘
You finally arrive at the giant testing site. To be honest, you have no clue where their budget came from, but you’ll take this opportunity to get to have some fun.
Hehehe, let’s destroy this place ψ(`∇´)ψ
You crack your knuckles, it’s been a while since you were last active. You didn’t have to concern yourself with anyone here, there’s basically no competition with these kids.
”Alrighty, let’s get this show started.” The doors creak open and you’re already in, leaving the others in the dust. The first robot comes into sight and you outstretch a hand, laughing to yourself.
“Kekeke, let’s see what I can do~” A rush of water meets your grip, the streams flowing and combining into a claymore. The water shimmers in the light, aching for their first taste of prey.
With a single horizontal slash the robot is sliced cleanly in half, earning you your first point. You toss the blade in one hand playing with the handle. It felt much lighter than it looked, but was just as sharp as any normal sword.
”Holy smokes man, that was sick!!” Out of nowhere someone swings in from behind. He’s shooting tape out of his elbows and wrapping robots up like presents.
”Thanks for gathering them for me like that!” You quickly send out another slash, this time it’s at a distance. A wave of water is released from your attack and cuts through every robot he just taped up. The remains clatter to the ground, every cut perfect and clean.
”Hey-“ He starts to complain but you just grin and laugh, dashing away from the crime scene. You secured yourself a couple more points but you watch as Momo comments on your performance.
Host, you need to get a bunch more points! If you get first place you’ll get some more gifts from yours truly ヽ( ★ω★)ノ
“No problem~” You move fluidly on the battlefield, dashing between robots and contestants like a fish through water. Your attacks were just as effortless, you sent out attack after attack, even changing your tactics and style to adapt to the space.
You threw out your other hand, sending out an onslaught of water to grab and pull the enemies toward you then tearing them apart with your weapon. You cleaved through robots left and right, casually racking up points as you had your fun.
You left several people dumbfounded, their eyes wide and following your every move with awe. It for sure fueled your ego a little too much, but what’s a good fight without other people to witness your little show? You then spot someone being too occupied with gawking at you to notice the giant robot behind them.
’Idiot should watch his surroundings, how does he not see that-‘
Taking a step forward, you dig your heel into the ground and draw your claymore back. In an instant you throw it forward with all your strength. The sword flies through the air, cutting through the air like butter and meeting its mark dead center. The claymore continues to break through the robot and plants itself into the ground behind it.
“T-thank you so much!!” The person you saved bowed rapidly, thanking you profusely. You thrust out your hand, a whip made of water in it. The whip hooks onto your claymore and as you pull, it flings your sword back into your hand, the claymore landing in your grip with a sharp thud.
”Stay out of trouble little cub, I might not be there to save you next time.” You flash him a playful grin, slinging your claymore over your shoulder and cocking your head to the side.
“Y-yes sir!” He bows again then runs off into the distance, most likely to collect more points.
“Phew, I should take a nice warm bath after this, all this dust and grime can’t be good for me.”
Without warning the ground begins to shake, a massive shadow looming over the area. You smirked, your focus sharpening as you caught sight of the massive zero-pointer entering the arena. It towered over the battlefield, causing several participants to run away in fear.
You hadn’t planned on engaging it, but the chaos it caused was interfering with your path.
“Momo, what other special abilities does this set have?” You slash your sword lightly, a wave of water crashing into some falling debris and sweeping away the waste.
Well, if you summon and sit on the throne, any sea or water related creature will obey you every command 人( ๑ `∇´๑)ᵐʷᵉʰᵉʰᵉʰᵉʰᵉ
‘That literally doesn’t help me at all…’
Why not switch your outfit then? You made some presets, right host? ( ╹ -╹)?
“Of course I did Momo, I'm not that dumb.”
Who’s the one who’s in debt?... (¬⤙¬ )
“Oh shut up.” You swipe open your interface, selecting one of the presets you prepared ahead of time.
Equipped: End of nightmare [hair], Stars and dreams [dress], God's other side [coat], Galaxy sock welts [hosiery], Homeward journey [socks], Voyage of yore [shoes], Maiden neck [necklace], Enchanting gloves [gloves], Journey through space-time [foreground], Heart moon forever [face], Goddess scepter [right hand holding], Wayward will [makeup], Luminous pearl [hair ornaments], Spirit of magic [spirit]
The air around you seemed to hold its breath as in an instant, in your place now stood a new figure.
Your hair, now much shorter, was a brilliant blue with a bright silver streak running throughout it. Having a soft smile, the makeup set featured gentle green eyes with a pleasant expression that was sure to drive the audience crazy. Your outfit was now a short dress, dark purple and space themed with small stars peppered throughout it with the classic magical girl ruffles and pleats. A headband in a similar shade of purple was perched upon your head, adding just that extra cute factor you definitely needed to complete the look.
A long, celestial scarf fluttered behind you, carried by what looked to be two glowing planets with golden wings supporting its weight. It hovered behind you as if it was a flowing body of stars and space. And in your hand was now a staff, made of shimmering crystal and gold, a moon ornament on the top.
Long. Ornate. Radiant with raw, pure starbound power.
The ground beneath you cracked—not from weight, but from sheer force. The space around you distorted, seeming to bend to your presence.
Your feet barely touched the ground before you kicked off, shooting into the air. In an instant, intricate magic circles formed beneath your feet, and leap by leap you made it closer and closer to the head of the zero pointer.
A hush fell over the battlefield as you swung your staff out, pointing it straight at your target.
Host, don't forget the number one rule of an ultimate attack!! (∩ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ )⊃━☆゚.*+.
Your eyes narrow in delight, you practiced this line for hours in front of the mirror, and now it was finally your chance to use it.
Slivers of magic flowed from you and into the staff, an intense light washing the battlefield in a vivid mix of blue and white.
“Starlight miracle strike!”
Then—BOOM.
The sky above ripped open.
Stars burst forth, streaking past in violent arcs of violet and gold. You twirled the scepter and brought it downwards, a rush of pure magic slamming down into the robot, sending a wave of impact through the pavement.
Below, the other students just… stared.
What the hell.
Where did the magical girl come from.
