Chapter 2: Lamb gets tripped on by annoying Bunny

Summary:

What the Lamb thinks about the encounter.

Notes:

Accidentally put this as a oneshot lol, it’s a multi-chapter with no true outline. Updates are sporadic

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Nightmare was sitting underneath mother, peacefully reading a new book he got from the royal library until this weird creature fell on them. It looks like a rabbit, a human, and a failed project of the protector worked together and tried to make something new.

The lamb looks at the nuisance that dared to just come walking into their safe space. The people of the kingdom are stopped from being able to enter because of the curse placed on them, so Nightmare doesn’t have to worry too much about being recognized.

It’s… apologizing? Weird. Nightmare doesn’t usually get apologized to. It must be a new thing for people outside of the kingdom.

They observe the strange creature, and he remembers that they should probably respond to the pitiful thing. Even if it’s probably (most likely) lying.

“It’s… fine.” Nightmare responds curtly. Maybe if he’s rude enough, it’ll leave him alone.

“Is there any way I could make it up to you?” The rabbit said.

Nightmare has to remind themself to not growl, but couldn’t hide the annoyance on his face, how unbecoming of a prince like him. “You can leave.” There, that’s should be enou-

“Can I even know your name? I’m Sparkler!” Curse the stars, can’t this rabbit get a hint!? At least it’s smart enough to not give them its actual name.

The lamb fights down the fear crawling up his throat, pushing it back and pretending to be indecisive. “You can call me…”

What name could they give it? There are so many options… Most of them are not good.

“What about I call you Starry? You’re pretty like the stars.” What.

Nightmare feels his face flush, flinching when the rabbit throws itself down onto his lap. It’s staring at him. Oh no, did they do something wrong?

“May I have your pronouns or non-pronouns?” …They decided to be nice, for once.

“Hmpf, that’ll do for now, and use anything that suits you for pronouns. I never understood why the foolish peasants care so much about it.” They scoffed, glaring at the rabbit. They can’t be too nice after all.

Nightmare decides to tap into the Sparkler’s emotions.

Why is it emotions so… positive? But, they’re directed at them?

Just what is wrong with this bunny!?

Notes:

Next up, Killer.

Notes:

It’s just something I wrote on a whim, I do plan to have at least five chapters.
