Chapter Text
Tenko didn’t listen to a lot of music.
Some of the only music she listened to was when Kaede would play. The soft notes were nice and when it got too quiet she would find recordings of her playing. The notes slowed so perfectly and it made something in her smile.
Kaede had invited her to hang out in her piano room, saying something about having to practive a little.
When she opened the door, something different was playing. The notes weren’t smooth, instead they were harsh, each one fighting for attention. It was loud, much louder than most of the songs Tenko had heard.
The notes started to fade before Kaede resumed the volume. She was smiling, and wrote notes down on a paper in front of her, when she finally finished she smiled at Tenko and got up.
She paused in front of her, offering her hand.
When Tenko took it, Kaede pulled her to the bench. Sitting down, she made room for Tenko. She started the song again, this time singing along.
Her voice was loud, and didn’t quite match the song, but Tenko found herself swaying along to the song anyway.
Kaede was warm against her arm, and Tenko hummed along to the song with a smile.
Maybe Tenko would listen to some music
The next song she heard Kaede play was a simple, almost childish tune, distorted beyond belief and it just made her want to cry. It wasn't the melodies she'd fell in love with, or the upbeat dramatic songs they'd sing together.
She wanted the plucky, too loud music back, but this, this was too much.
And Tenko found she didn’t want to listen to music anymore.
