Chapter Text

mayor busied himself with the customer, tapping away at the small screen as the customer read out their order. ‘’will that be all?’’ mayor asked, glancing over to the other, his finger hovered over the screen incase they wanted to buy something else. the customer shook their head, allowing the barista to retract their hand from where it hovered. ‘’alright, your total will be…’’ the barista looked over at the screen again, just to make sure he doesn’t get the wrong amount. ‘’13.57.’’ the customer nodded and went through their bag, retrieving out the exact amount of money and handing it over to the man. ‘’thank you. you may wait for your order to come, please take a seat.’’ the customer replied in a mumbled ‘thank you’ and walked off.

saturday’s had always been the busiest days for the coffee shop, though mayor didn’t mind that at all. it was always fun to occupy himself, though it could get stressful at times, the barista still kept his head-up high. always thinking of the positives that will always come soon in the day.

mayor had a hand on his chin, seeing all the people peacefully eating their food, minding their own business. snapping the other out of his thoughts, mayor looked over at the door and saw his partner enter through the glass doorway. he felt his face heat up a little, a small grin plastering over his face.

when the student walked in, they hadn’t worn the usual professional-look that they had going on 24/7, it had been an entirely different sort of outfit. a dark-purple tanktop, almost the same color as the suit, tucked away in the white shorts they were wearing. along-side with the outfit, was a black jock-type of jacket, with thin white-lines that were on each side of the pitch-black sleeves. he could see that the sleeves were just slightly too long for the other, though it had still fit the other well. the sleeves of the long-sleeved jacket had been rolled up to his fore-arms. mayor felt like he could stare forever, admiring his partner’s handsomeness.

‘’mayor?’’ syntax asked, waving a hand in front of his face. blinking back, the barista came back to reality, staring at the man’s eyes that were trapped away in the thick green-glasses. ‘’hm? yeah?’‘ mayor continued to stare at the other, his eyes still wandering over the other’s form. ‘’are you.. alright? you’ve been..’’ syntax leaned down, getting to eye-level with the other. ‘’..distracted.’’ mayor looked at every feature on the man’s face, taking in every detail that was there, as if the other were a beautiful painting with not a flaw in sight.

he seemed more relaxed. instead of the furrowed brows the other was used to seeing, they had looked more curved. almost like the student had finally taken the time to unfurrow his brows and took the time to relax themselves through the stress and hard-work. though the glasses were tinted green, mayor was still able to see the other’s dark-oaky eyes through them. he could see the heavy eye-bags that the student had, it read of all the long hours of the pitch-black haired man’s hard-work. he could see the small smile, that showed the other’s sharp canines, showing how unique of a smile that the student had.

leaning forward, mayor lightly pressed his lips up against the other’s, instantly retreating back. ‘’the usual?’’ mayor asked, giving the other a playful grin. syntax’s face flushed a bright pink, eyes widened behind the glasses. ‘’i..’’ the barista cupped the other’s chin, still keeping the eye-contact between them. ‘’mhm?’’ he cocked his head to the side, watching the other’s expression still not changing. ‘’n-not here..’’ the potch-black haired man mumbled, looking away, breaking the eye-contact the both had. mayor retreated his hand away from the other’s chin, leaning forward to murmur in their ear. ‘’later then..’’ the dark-haired man slowly retreated back, watching the other’s face grow redder.

facing towards the screen, he looked at the other. ‘’usual?’’ mayor asked, a playful grin still plastered on his face. ‘’just a coffee…’’ syntax looked away, staring at orchids that was kept alive in the white flower-pot. ‘’and when did you last eat?’’ the barista asked, tapping away at the order the other requested. ‘’not too long ago.’’ they glanced at the screen, watching the other work their magic. ‘’and what is ‘not too long ago’, in your book?’’ mayor raised a brow, continuing to tap away at the screen. ‘’..yesterday.’’ they scratched the back of their neck, standing up straight. ‘’alright so, two muffins and a coffee, gotcha.’’ syntax groaned, rolling their eyes at the other. ‘’on the house, because you haven’t eaten in ages.’’ mayor stated, walking away from the counter and making his way towards the cups, beginning to prepare the other’s drink.

‘’i love you, really i do.’’ the barista started out, waiting for the coffee to brew. ‘’..anndd i want you to take care of yourself.’’ glancing over towards the other, who slouched their posture a tad bit, looking down at the counter design. ‘’how about, tomorrow? we can go on a little picnic or something!’’ the student chuckled, nodded their head in agreement. ‘’whatever floats your boat, mayor.’’ the man poured out the coffee in the large cup, adding creamer to it, knowing the other never liked it just as a black-coffee. walking his way up towards the counter, he placed the coffee in front of the other, earning a small smile. ‘’i’ll be back with the rest.’’ the barista walked off, going towards the back where his boss was.

‘’how is it out there?’’ lady bone asked, hearing the barista walk through the door. ‘’great! i got everyone’s orders completed and done. i just need two muffins for syntax.’’ she grabbed the two muffins, putting them down on a special purple plate. ‘’how is syntax?’’ lady bone asked, walking towards the other. ‘’great, their doing great.’’ she extended the plate out to him, which he gently took with both sides. ‘’i.. never told you but…’’ his boss went to the other side of the room, organizing all sort’s of different pastries. ‘’tell me what?’’ she asked, still preoccupied with the organization. ‘’he’s my boyfriend now. can’t you believe it?!’’ he saw the other shake her head in amusement, letting out a content sigh. ‘’yes, i very much can. i would love to chat more about this, but i need to organize these.’’

she glanced over at the other. ‘’i know how much you love him, and how much they love you.’’ lady bone said, giving him a small smile. ‘’now shoo-shoo, give them the food before it’s not warm anymore!’’ mayor chuckled, nodding and walking out of the blue and white door.

‘’your food, mr. handsome’’ mayor placed down the muffins in front of the other, earning a smile from the other. ‘’why, thank you, pretty boy.’’ syntax retorted back, watching as the pitch-black haired man leaned forward and kissed his forehead. mayor rolled his eyes. ‘’cmon, let’s sit down.’’ syntax started walking to their usual spot, looking at mayor behind him. ‘’don’t you have work?’’ they asked, raising his brow. ‘’well, work ends in..’’ mayor takes out his phone, checking the time. ‘’in five minutes. so, i can relax with my great, handsome partner for the remainder of time.’’

both men made their way towards the table, a pretty view of the whole city. syntax looked outside the window, biting into his muffin. ‘’you know..’’ the student started, keeping their gaze on the buildings. ‘’would you like to… go and hang out at my dorm? if you’re free, that is..’’ they took their eyes off the glass, looking at the man’s icicle blue eyes. ‘’i would love too, syn.’’ he said with a smile, reaching out and covering the man’s free hand that sat on top of the table. ‘’great! my.. brother won’t be there, so we can get the whole time together!’’ he said excitedly, a large grin growing on their face.

‘’i think that sounds very lovely.’’

everyone had already left the coffee shop, leaving both of the love-birds still inside of the comfy place. the plate and coffee were in the sink at the back, napkins and muffin liners were already thrown away in the trash. leaving the table completely cleared off of anything, except both men’s hands that were intertwined.  both had stayed longer there than usual. instead of the thirty minutes minutes they had both originally planned, they stayed for almost an hour and a half.

both weren’t moving, just staring at each other’s eyes. getting lost in the ocean and dark-oaky areas. ‘’it’s almost been two hours, may. i think we should go…’’ syntax interrupted the long silence they both had between them, making the other blink a few times. ‘’and where did you want to go again? your dorm?’’ mayor asked, slowly getting up from the booth seat. the student followed the other’s movements, stepping beside them. ‘’mhm… it might be a little boring since i have tons of work i have to get done, if that doesn’t bother you.’’ both started to walk, making their way towards the glass door. ‘’doesn’t bother me at all.’’ mayor opened the door up for the other. ‘’though, didn’t you say you had already finished your work?’’ he asked, closing the door behind him, the warm breeze hitting both of their faces. ‘’i did, yes..’’

syntax walked forward, one of his hands being stored away in his pocket. ‘’and what do you have to do, if all your work is done?’’ the barista walked next to the other, slowly reaching down and interlocking their hands as they walked side-by-side. ‘’a small packet, about five pages long.’’ the other trailed away from his sentence, his brows slightly furrowed.  ‘’i may sound like a bother, but.. how about you take this saturday off?’’ mayor shifted their gaze towards the other. ‘’you do deserve it after all.’’ the taller could see their features begin to soften at the words. ‘’whatever allows me to spend time with you, then…’’ syntax looked up at the other. ‘’i’ll do that.’’

the sound of a door unlocking echoed throughout the quiet hallway. syntax walked inside of the dorm-room, taking off his shoes and moving to where the kitchen was. mayor walked in behind the other, taking in the new room he had entered. the walls were dark-grey, whilst the floor helped accompany the dark walls, by having a nice dark-oak wood to them, the same color as syntax’s eyes. there were two beds, both being placed on the sides, while the large window in the front was displayed. there had been a black desk sitting in the front of it, a clean silver desk-lamp sat on it. accompanied the desk had also been books, a pencil holder, papers, and a large spider plush sat on the corner of it. the whole desk was neatly organized and well-kept, presumably that desk belonging to syntax.

mayor walked over to where syntax was, the smell of coffee brewing filled the air. ‘’may you watch this for me? i need to put my contacts in.’’ mayor nodded and watched the other leave, going down a small corridor that had only held two doors, both facing each other. mayor’s gaze turned away as he watched syntax close the door on the left behind him, his eyes focusing back on the room.

last leaving off with syntax’s desk, he picked back where he started. on one side of the desk had a neat, tucked in, purple bed. whilst the other said could be said differently. the covers were black and white, messy and unkept, unlike how the other side was. the desk in front of the unkept bed was just the same, papers were in ball-forms, scattered all over the place. a few pieces of paper sticking out of a few notebooks that syntax’s roommate had.

hearing the door open, mayor shifted his gaze back to the coffee pot, hearing the footsteps of syntax going over towards one of the beds. he turned around and watched as syntax got out of the black jacket, hanging it around the white swivel chair that was in front of the black desk. the other turned around, seeing that the barista was staring at him the whole time. mayor blinked and looked away, shaking his head and returning his attention back towards the coffee that was brewing.

syntax walked to the cabinet hanging above the oven. grabbing out two mugs for them both, the student closed the oaky doors, turning around and handing over the larger mug to the mayor. ‘’i’ve been meaning to ask.’’ the barista broke the silence, watching syntax raise a brow as he sat down in one of the swivel chairs in front of the kitchen counter. ‘’who’s the other person who lives here?’’ he asked, leaning forward to look at syntax. ‘’my brother, actually. he’s out with a few friends at the moment, so we have the whole place to ourselves.’’

mayor nodded and heard the coffee pot begin to bubble, telling the two that it’s almost done. the barista stared at the other, taking in the new portrait in front of him. the dark-oaky eyes that had been trapped away from the green-lenses were now freed from the imprisonment. though he can see the color through the glasses, without them on, they looked much darker. it could almost be mistaken as a pitch-black. ‘’you know how pretty your eyes are?’’ mayor started off, a grin spreading across his face. he leaned forward a bit, their noses touching. ‘’or do i need to say it more often?’’

syntax moved a bit closer, both practically sharing air. ‘’the pot..’’ the shorter said, still not breaking the contact he had with the other. the barista’s grin never left his face, going over and turning the oven off, he looked back over to the other, clarity sparking in the icicle blue eyes. he strode over to the other, who had slid off of the chair, meeting the other halfway.

—————————————————————————————————————-

mayor gripped onto the other’s waist and brought them forward, capturing their lips in a fierce kiss. both men swayed around the room, hands roaming around each other’s forms. syntax placed his hands onto the other’s shoulders, tightening his grip at each passing moment as the kiss had grown fiercer and hungrier. mayor reached his left hand in the locks of the man’s pitch-black hair, whilst the right one was still preoccupied with the man’s waist.

as they moved around the room, syntax could feel the back of his leg’s hit a hard wooden surface. the student broke away the kiss, looking at the the taller man, who immediately opened his eyes up, looking at the other with lovestruck eyes. both of men’s faces were flushed, the only sound being emitted from the two were there heavy-breathing, both trying to catch their breaths from the kiss.

syntax slid down onto the bed, grabbing mayor by the collar, pulling him down with them. he stared at the man’s icicle, pale-blue eyes that stared right back at his dark-oaky ones. ‘’i…love you..’’ syntax tightened his grip on the other’s collar and brought him forward, capturing the barista in another hungry kiss. mayor pushed forward, hearing a soft thud of syntax’s back hitting the soft surface of the purple-covered bed.

the pitch-black haired man let go of the other’s collar, wrapping his arms around the other’s back, bringing their bodies flushed together. the barista reached back up to trhe pitch-black hair, lightly tugging onto the dark-locks. hearing a small noise come from the other, mayor let out an amused exhale, continuing to attack the other’s lips. ‘’you’re doing great..’’ mayor mumbled in between kisses, tightening his clench in the locks of hair.

both men pulled away from each other, glowy icicle eyes staring-back at  the dark-oaky ones. syntax could see the blue icicles scanning his neck, a grin forming on the dark-haired mans face. ‘’tell me if you want me to stop..’’ mayor told the other, leaning down to start attacking syntax’s neck. the pitch-black haired man let out a whimper, widening his eyes and biting his lip, needing to contain his volume. the taller man let go of the tight clench he had in the other’s hair, his hand beginning to roam over the other’s clothed chest, earning a shiver from the other underneath him.

‘’may….’’ syntax breathed out, his eyes beginning to go criss-cross. mayor bit down lightly on the other’s neck, hearing a muffled noise from the other’s closed mouth. he bit down again, the muffled noise only getting louder as they continued on. the barista kissed where he bit down, and leaned back, placing his chin on the other’s chest. taking in the other’s appearance.

the student’s face had become completely flushed. his hair was all messy from the tight grip mayor had on the dark locks. his eyes roamed over the other’s neck, a few purple marks forming on the tan skin-tone. the icy blue eyes went back up to the other’s eyes, both leaning forward and going back to their make-out session.

—————————————————————————————————————

though, that all had been cut short when both men heard the jiggle of the front door. syntax and mayor pulled away from each other, the student’s eyes scanned across the room, his eyes falling right on the kitchen. ‘’go to the kitchen!’’ syntax yelled in a whisper, both men paced towards the organized kitchen, turning the coffee back on as if nothing had happened.

when the door opened, the increasing fear of anxiety started to well-up in both men’s system, especially syntax. ‘’syntax?’’ huntsman yelled, going towards his bed to drop the bag he carried with him down on the bed. when turning around, he saw the two figures had their back to him. ‘’ok, syntax.. and whoever you are, not fucking funny. say something whore!’’ syntax raised an arm to his neck, covering the purple marks. they turned around, facing the shorter man. ‘’hunts! how was hanging out with your friends?’’ mayor stood there, feeling sweat begin to drip down his neck.

‘’great…. who’s this fucker?’’ huntsman asked, on queue mayor turned around, being met with syntax’s brother. ‘’that’s mayor!’’ syntax said, giving a nervous chuckle, beginning to feel the sweet on his neck drip onto his hand. huntsman went quiet for a moment, his eyes slightly squinted, inspecting the other. ‘’oh yeah, him! yeah, you don’t shut the fuck up about him-‘’ syntax hushed their brother, letting out a chuckle. ‘’why’re you holding your neck like that?’’ the shorter man asked, looking between the two. ‘’they said their necks hurts.’’ mayor started off, watching huntsman’s attention go towards him. ‘’..and i told him to apply pressure on where it’s hurting.’’

‘’huh..ok.’’ huntsman walked away from the both of them, going to his bed. ‘’whatever you two fucking say.’’ syntax glanced towards where the door is, hoping mayor knew what he meant by just eye-moving gestures. mayor nodded, intertwining syntax’s hand with his own. ‘’i best be going now…’’ his gaze shifted to the other. ‘’very nice meeting you.’’ the kind words were met with a grumble and a string of mumbled curses. the student kissed the barista’s cheek. ‘’be safe, may.’’ he smiled and watched him make his way towards the door and leave. the student shook their head and walked towards the oven, turning the coffee back off.

he let out a puff, letting go of his neck for a moment. thinking of an idea, they moved the ends of their hair to cover their neck, a much simpler way for the other to keep the mark’s hidden for a little. ‘’so.. what did you two do while i was gone?’’ huntsman asked, looking up from his phone, watching the younger make their way towards the pitch-black desk, pulling out the white swivel chair. ‘’we just..talked and relaxed..’’ they answered, placing themselves down on the chair and going through their backpack. ‘’nothing else? nothing of interest?’’ huntsman questioned the other, watching them get a purple binder, and green pen out of their backpack and began writing in it.

‘’not really, no.’’ huntsman watched them closely as they wrote, looking for anything that could be deemed as different about the other. ‘’glasses?’’ syntax froze for a moment. ‘’just wanted to wear my contacts for once. plus, my glasses were beginning to hurt a little.’’ they shrugged, jotting down and doodling all sorts of different things. ‘’speaking of hurt, wasn’t your neck hurting? why aren’t you holding onto it anymore, fucker.’’ the eldest prodded, sitting upright on his bed shifting his position so he can get a better look at the other. ‘’it doesn’t hurt that much anymore, actually...’’

huntsman hummed. ‘’yeah, very fucking conveinent.’’ the room went quiet, the only sounds that were being emittwd were the sounds of syntax’s pencil, dancing across the blank page white page. huntsman let out an annoyed huff, getting up from his bed, taking one step forward, already hovering over the other. “if it doesn’t hurt that fucking much anymore, then i guess you wouldn’t mind if i checked.” huntsman went to pull back the other’s hair, but his actions were immediately halted when he felt the younger grab his wrist.

huntsman raised a brow, sneakily raising his other hand, pulling back the pitch-black hair. ‘’jesus fucking christ, what did you two do..’’ syntax let go of the other’s wrist, dropping down his stuff on the desk and making their way to the kitchen. ‘’look, i know i joke and all about the fucking.. but i didn’t actually expect you to actually do that!’’ huntsman followed behind the other. ‘’look, not telling me shit isn’t going to help, you know that!’’ the shorter scolded, watching jump up on the chair infront of the kitchen counter, shifting his body to be looking directly at the other. ‘’we didn’t! we just..’’ syntax met the other’s green eyes, furrowing his brows. ‘’i don’t know! it just happened, ok?!’’

they put their face in their hands, letting out an exhale. ‘’just don’t..’’ the student trailed off, glancing at the eldest. ‘’..don’t tell mom, please..’’ feeling a hand on their shoulder, he looked up at his grey-haired brother. ‘’i’m not a fucking asshole, why would i tell her? you’re a grown ass adult, and it doesn’t seem like she treats you that way.’’ huntsman started off, squeezing his grip on his brother’s shoulder. ‘’i’m glad you found someone, really tax. i haven’t seen you this happen in.. ages ! it’s just, i don’t want anything to happen to you, alright man?!’’ huntsman put his other hand on syntax’s shoulder. ‘’..and i don’t want someone to do anything that you aren’t fucking.. comfortable with! i’m not saying this because i think he’s a bad or something! it’s really the opposite!’’ huntsman shook the other to emphasize his point.

although it was a strange way to do that, it was his way. ‘’i’m just saying, if he does something that makes you uncomfy.. oh, god please tell me, i’ll beat the fucking shit out of him till he’s crying.’’ syntax chuckled, patting the other’s head. ‘’i will, i promise you that.’’ they got up from their seat, going over to the fridge and grabbing out two bottles of water. ‘’although i don’t exactly like the beating up part, it’s very kind you care about me.’’ the student handed the the water-bottle to the other. ‘’of course i do! you’re my fucking brother!’’ huntsman huffed out, twisting open the bottle.

‘’all being said, i’m, in a strange way, proud. you found someone who really fucking loves you and seems to really care for you.’’ syntax smiled, twisting the cap off and taking a sip of his water.  ‘’he means a lot to me, and i don’t think that will change any-time soon.’’ huntsman nudged his leg, letting out a small laugh. ‘’you fucking love-birds make me sick.’’ huntsman said teasingly, rolling his eyes, walking over to his bed. ‘’come here, let’s play some fucking shit!’’ syntax rolled their eyes and made their way over.

mayor popped into his mind every second as the two brother’s hung out. the dark-gray, fluffy hair that seemed to just fit his face perfectly. the beautiful icy-blue eyes that could dissect anything that he sees. the same eyes that stared back at the other with clarity earlier, making syntax’s heart flutter and his face flushed. his hands in the fluffy black locks, being as gentle as he could be with the other.

he loved the barista, very much. a kind, caring man that has entered syntax’s life, brightening up every single day that had passed. they’ve never felt this way about anyone else before. having someone to look forward to everyday, to see them and appreciate every little thing about them was something syntax is glad he’s not missing anymore.

Notes:

im not the greatest at writing kissing and i think that really SHOWS 😭😭

fr,,, promise, the chapter 6, whenever i can, will be more..
plot stuff??? like, that project that kinda broke in chapter 4 will be revisited and talked about!!
it might not feature mayor, but more of syntax and huntsman’s dynamic, but that’s about it!

(also fr so glad im no longer in my writer’s block mode anymore!!)

Notes:

im hoping ill actually be able to have the motivation to finish this whole thing up snarls and growls

i have never done a fully-chaptered book before, so i will be trying my best to get updates in!

i just realized this feels more like a oneshot then a full chapter that will continue into a story, but ill try my best with this
