Chapter Text
The door to the coffee shop swung open, a bell ringing out and cutting through the baseline of chatter already filling the space. Will absentmindedly glanced at the door but immediately did a double take when he saw who walked in. A shiver shot down his spine and he dropped the pitcher he was holding, the metal clattering against the counter. Suddenly, the cafe seemed far less occupied. He walked towards the register, wiping his hands on his apron nervously. He stood against the counter, one hand gripping the edge of it tightly and the other hovering above the screen of the register. Will’s eyes followed the new guests as they walked to the register. Both of the boys had dark hair and dark eyes but one was much shorter than the other. The shorter one was paler, had high cheekbones and seemed to be pouting slightly. The taller one was tanner and had some tattoos peeking out past the sleeves of his shirt. ‘Is that a dove?’ Will scoffed internally. Will could tell they were a couple, the taller boy had his arm wrapped around the other boy’s waist, although the smaller boy looked very stiff.
When they finally got up to the counter, Will immediately caught the eye of the shorter boy and smirked. The boy’s eyes glinted and narrowed. They kept eye contact as Will spoke slowly, “Welcome to Apollo’s, what can I get you?”
“We’ll both have two medium coffees, both with cream and sugar,” the taller boy answered.
Will rolled his eyes but typed the order in anyway, pulling his gaze away from the shorter boy. “And a name for the order?” he asked.
“Michael,” the taller boy said.
“Alright, I will get these right out for you,” Will said, looking back up just as the taller boy, Michael , turned away and catching the eye of the smaller boy and winking.
Will prepared the order quickly, it was just pouring already brewed coffee into cups. He slid on the drink sleeves and put lids on bothe drinks then slid them across the counter.
“Michael!” He called out, watching the couple from the corner of his eye.
He saw Michael stand up from a table they had found in the corner, He grabbed the drinks and brought them back to the other boy, his boyfriend , Will reminded himself. The smaller boy took the cup from his hands but didn’t smile or say anything. Michael sat back down across from him and started talking but the smaller boy didn’t seem interested, just staring at the wall. Will busied himself with wiping the counter and stacking cups, but his eyes kept finding their way back towards the couple. Will watched cautiously as he saw the smaller boy mumble something and stand up, walking towards the back of the shop towards the back room of the shop and bathrooms. He caught Will’s eye as he walked and smiled, raising an eyebrow. Will looked back down and bit his cheek to hide a smile. He let a few moments pass before he walked into the back room, making sure the door was shut. As soon as he turned around, he was tugged down by the collar of his shirt and kissed soundly. He gasped, surprised, but returned the kiss. He let it continue for a moment before he pulled away, resting their foreheads together and grinning.
“Well hello to you too, Nico” Will teased.
The boy, Nico, glared up at Will and scoffed, “Shut up, I missed you.”
“You just saw me,” Will countered.
The boy rolled his eyes and released his grip on Will’s shirt, crossing his arms, “That doesn’t count, I didn’t actually get to talk to you because Michael was there,” he said, his words particularly venomous as he said Michael’s name.
Will frowned and grabbed his hand, “Yeah, I hated that.”
“Yeah, me too,” Nico said.
“He seems-” Will paused.
“Horrible? Overbearing? Manipulative? Fucking annoying?” Nico said for him.
“I wouldn’t see i got all of that from the one interaction we had, but sure.”
“I don’t want to talk about him anymore, I said I was going to the bathroom which means that I only have another minute or two before he starts to get suspicious,” Nico said quickly, grabbing Will and pulling him down again.
Part of Will wanted to beg Nico to just break up with him right now, to just walk over there and dump him so they didn’t have to do this in secret.
