Fanfic is my guilty pleasure
Bio
I'm a science fiction / fantasy writer, for whom fanfic is a guilty pleasure.
Star Trek was my first obsession, followed fairly closely by Sherlock Holmes. My first efforts were mawkish, at best. Not quite a "Mary Sue", but too damned close, lol.
About twenty years ago I discovered X-files slash and I was head over heels. It was so raw. It had the courage to rip the characters open, to see the depth of their anguish and love. I wrote a *lot* of X-files, much of it with an h/c theme.
One of my current works is a Sherlock Holmes novel (canon only). It is based on a single premise which occurred to me as I read A Scandal In Bohemia. The story had always stuck out, not only because of The Woman but because it just seemed...odd. Not right. Why would Watson include it; it wasn't Holmes who seemingly solved the case.
And then it came to me. What if by the time Wilhelm came to Holmes, Sherlock, at the prompting of his brother, had already been working on the case? What if Godfrey Norton had been, in reality, Jerome O'Hare, one of the most brilliant actors in England. And what if Irene found out what had been done to her...too late?
The more I thought about it the more I loved the idea. So I started writing. I'm about halfway done, and hoping the end result will be publishable. I'm looking for a few beta readers, with knowledge of Victorian society and SH canon, but who have a tolerance for fairly scorching conflict and sexual situations. Also, people with experience writing and critiquing non-fanfic.
I have also recently gotten interested in The Witcher. I almost-binge-watched all eight episodes, and now I'm writing fanfic for it. It is a rich, fascinating world, and the two adult main characters are so delicious.
On my list of to-dos are a Potter-Witcher crossover, with Snape. I do love to h/c that man.
