“Hey!” Axel says, voice overloud, but he can’t help it. His heart’s pounding hummingbird-fast in his chest at the encounter, and he has to talk louder than that so he can be heard — but honestly, he’s not even going to give him a chance to explain himself? “Wait—“
But the blond — Roxas, Roxas — has already booked it down the street and fuck, the bus is arriving, and he really can’t afford to be late to work again, and so Axel lets him go reluctantly.
Well. That’s not how he expected the reunion with his soulmate to go.

It’ll take some time, but he’ll be fine.

Caduceus has been home with his family for a month now, and it's been a perfect adjustment. Just great, absolutely wonderful. He definitely doesn't miss any of the Nein to the point of heartache and even if he did he wouldn't feel guilty about it. All of his siblings are also perfect and completely well-adjusted and trauma free, and everything is back to exactly 100% the way it was before they left.
A late-night argument leads to some spontaneous hair care and a much needed conversation.
