Work Text:

Jeon Jungkook is late.

Well, he is late a lot, but today he’s very late. Super late. Seokjin-hyung-is-gonna-kill-him-late.

The thing is, he was supposed to meet Seokjin an hour ago. Now he was still running towards the coffee shop, his phone in one hand, trying to text while he maneuvers between the mass of people on the sidewalk. He almost runs over a red light into traffic, but somehow manages to stop in time and he quickly finishes his message, coming up with the lamest excuse to soften the blow once Seokjin shreds him into pieces.

“My train was super delayed and I missed the bus because of that so now I’m running.”

In reality, Jungkook had taken a taxi with all the money he had with him and is now sprinting the last few blocks. He didn’t have enough for the taxi to get him to the coffee shop itself, unfortunately.

It's a huge relief to see the coffee shop up ahead though, and Jungkook feels like his lungs are about to jump out of his mouth from exhaustion and he's just gonna count this as his daily work-out today.

He just has to round the corner when he suddenly slips on some kind of trash on the ground and only saves himself by falling forward and grasping at the wall of the building.

For a moment he wants to celebrate this nice save until he notices something.

Someone.

An actual person is in front of him, caged between him and the wall, looking absolutely terrified.

Jungkook looks down at him, his jaw unhinged, and a little speechless and the guy - who is a head shorter than him, clad in cute winter clothes and almost drowning in scarf, and beanie, and jacket. He's kinda cute, Jungkook thinks.

No, he's really cute. He even has a little button nose that's red from the cold wind, and really nice and full lips.

Jungkook is staring. He's creepy. He's doing his creepy thing again where he zones out and stares into the void. He has got to stop this right now. He should say something.

"I, uh," Jungkook begins, but doesn't get very far as the guy straight up glares up at him.

"What the hell is wrong with you?! Get away from me!"

"Wha- Oh. Oh no! I," Jungkook immediately steps back, his face red from embarrassment. "I wasn't- there was just something on the ground and you-"

"Are you calling me short? What the fuck?"

Jungkook gapes at the other boy who surprisingly blew up like a firecracker. "What? No! I wasn't-"

"You stay away from me!" And with that, Cute Firecracker walks away, leaving Jungkook behind who can't help but watch him go.

What just happened? Did that guy just call him off because he slipped? Of course, their positions ended up to be very unfortunate, but it wasn't on purpose.

Jungkook huffs and for a moment he just stands there, a little lost, before remembering why he was in such a hurry before. He darts away towards the coffee shop, forgetting little firecracker for now.

Jungkook had to grovel at Seokjin feet who didn't believe his lame excuse and new Jungkook just overslept because he stayed up and played Overwatch the night before.

Now he has to buy Seokjin coffee every day of the week and Jungkook sighs at his misery as he walks through the January wind with his hyung's Iced Frappuccino (because he's that kind of monster. He drinks iced coffee in fucking winter.)

His fingers already feel dead and he's glad as soon as he steps inside, embracing the warmth of the building to the fullest. Praise the heating Gods.

He slows his steps and now takes his time, knowing that Seokjin won't be out of class yet anyway and he walked past some of the dance studios which is mostly known turf for Jungkook. He usually uses the last two rooms for his classes as the first few rooms for contemporary dance and ballet which isn't really up Jungkook's alley. They told him he'd eventually have to do a course or two, but up until know he stayed safe.

It's not that he dislikes it, but it's just not his strength. He lacks the certain flexibility and grace that these dancers have as his own movements are rather sharp and heavy.

Jungkook is deep in his thoughts, imagining himself in a cute ballerina dress and wondering what color would suit him best, until he suddenly collides with something solid and - out of all things - drops Seokjin's Iced Frappuccino.

Jungkook yelps and watches as the drink hits an actual person (the solid thing he ran into) and they jump in surprise before yelling out in pain and cold. Almost all the ice cubes landed on them.

Jungkook’s in shock and he is ready to apologize, not even finding the right words, until the person turns around and Jungkook is stunned for a moment.

It's Cute Firecracker. From yesterday. He's even cuter than before. Oh fuck.

Firecracker recognizes him at the same time.

"You! What the fuck is wrong with you? Do you have anything against me?"

Jungkook is at loss, his mouth just hanging open and struggling to find the words to explain. "I, no, I just-"

"Why would you do this?" Firecracker's voice is a little shaky and it's like a punch in the groin. Jungkook still can't speak and he feels like an absolute idiot.

"Stay away from me, God!" Firecracker walks off and Jungkook - again - watches him leave, the remains of the Iced Frappuccino all over the floor and he probably will have to get another one or Seokjin is actually gonna punch him in th nuts.

"Let me summarize," Seokjin sucks on this straw to his fresh Frappuccino, scrutinizing Jungkook who is still under shock over what happened just earlier. "You pushed him against a wall yesterday because you slipped and then just stared at him. And now you dumped an iced beverage over his head in January?"

"I didn't dump it! I walked into him because I wasn't paying attention and it fell out of my hand!"

"In January. An iced beverage."

"Thanks, hyung, I know."

Seokjin laughs out loud and Jungkook just lets him, knowing that he can't stop it either way.

"I mean, he must have understood when you explained what happened right? It wasn't on purpose, so-" Seokjin stops in the middle of the sentence as he eyes a guilty looking Jungkook.

He squints. "Jungkook-ah... you explained, right? You apologized... right?"

Jungkook stares at the table.

"Jeon Jungkook!"

"I tried okay," Jungkook whines, his head falling down onto the table. "I really did, but I couldn't get a word out! He was furious and I just stared at him! I don't know why I couldn't say anything!"

Jungkook wants to wallow in his misery, but instead Seokjin pulls at his hair and he snaps up to yell at him. "Hey!"

Seokjin is grinning. "Say, Jungkook, little Gaylord," -- "Little what now?" -- "was he cute?"

Jungkook's head feels a little too hot again. This is ridiculous. "First of all, I'm not a Gaylord. If anything, I'm a knight or a prince-"

"Gay Knight or Gay Prince sound stupid-"

"Second of all, th-that's irrelevant."

Seokjin snorts again and Jungkook wants to punch him. "Oh, my little Dark Wing Gay-"

"Stop calling me these names!"

"You have a little crush! Was he that stunning? I mean, I thought you'd be used to beauty since you hang out with me."

Jungkook stares at Seokjin with dead eyes and just sighs and gets up. "Bye, hyung."

"Yah, where are you going?"

Jungkook manages not to run into Cute Firecracker for a whole day. Maybe that's a good thing for the both of them.

Jungkook needs to regroup. Facts are that he does find him cute (he doesn't even know his name! He calls him Cute Firecracker!) and that he did him wrong. Twice. And never apologized. So he has to do that.

So Jungkook actually wakes up earlier and stops by the bakery to get a cupcake (he looks like a cupcake kind of guy, but also, who doesn't like cupcakes?) and then heads towards the ballet studios, hoping to find him there.

Jungkook doesn't have class until later, so he can afford to hang around and wait. And waiting he does.

For two hours. He kind of dozes off twice and bangs his head against the wall. Not very suave.

He almost gives up until one of the studio doors opens and Firecracker steps out, his hair slicked back from either sweat or a shower (both thoughts are good thoughts) and Jungkook thinks about changing his nickname from Cute Firecracker to Hot Firework.

"He-hey!" He calls out, waving and walking towards him and Firecracker turns his head. He spots Jungkook and immediately his expression hardens and he takes a step back-

"What do you want?"

Jungkook stops, leaving a respectable distance between them and he pulls out the cupcake to give to him, along with his prepared apology, but he doesn't even get that far.

"What? You wanna shove that in my face next?"

Jungkook's mouth falls open (which seems to be common occurrence around this guy) and he sputters. "Wh-what?"

"Listen, I won't let myself be bullied! Go away!"

Jungkook stares in absolute shock. A bully? Him? No, no, no!

"No, wait, this isn't-"

"I said leave me alone!" And with that Firecracker walks off and Jungkook is - yet again - at loss.

"He thinks you're a bully?" Yoongi is genuinely surprised when Jungkook tells his friends about his misery when they’re at their usual table for lunch and Seokjin almost chokes on his noodles from snorting.

"You? Bullying? You're too anti-social to do that."

"I know!" Jungkook bemoans. This is the worst thing that has ever happened to him. Cute Firecracker thinks he is bullying him when all he wanted was to give him a cupcake. To apologize. To see him again because he's cute.

"Jungkook, just apologize to him," Seokjin advices, mouth full of noodles and Jungkook grimaces.

"I tried, but he wouldn't even let me? I even got him a cupcake, but he just asked if I wanted to push that into his face. He really thinks I have it out for him!"

Jungkook honestly doesn't know what to do. This never happened to him before. He usually doesn't even approach people on his own in the first place and now this.

And he's so cute too. This is the worst.

"I just-- I'm not a bully," Jungkook says with a pout. "And I want him to know that. I want to apologize to him."

"You also want to bone him," Seokjin throws in and Jungkook glares while Yoongi snorts.

"No! I mean, I was thinking about... I don't know... Holding his hand or something."

Jungkook is met with silence and he realizes he never wanted to say any of that out loud. At least not the hand holding part, that was definitely an inside thought not an outside statement. Jungkook hates his brain.

"I think I just threw up in my mouth," Seokjin says, a slightly disgusted look on his face as he tends to his noodles again.

"Whatever. I'm going to apologize to him. Watch me."

And it truly is a spectacle to watch.

Jungkook tries several times to approach Firecracker, every time with some kind of present (or at least a mindset) but somehow nothing works out.

The next day Jungkook waits with tea and Firecracker glares at him and asks if Jungkook wants to burn his skin off after dumping ice on him. Jungkook deflates.

He tries coffee next. Doesn’t work at all either. Jungkook isn’t surprised.

After that he sees Firecracker walk outside without a scarf. Jungkook quickly takes off his own and runs up to him, offering it to him and Firecracker puts difference between them, asking if Jungkook wants to strangle him with it now. Jungkook deflates again.

It's the day after that when he finally finds out his name.

By now Jungkook kind of feels like a stalker.

He doesn't really follow him around, but he does stop by the ballet studios before walking to his own ones further down just to see Firecracker.

Firecracker walks past him after only after a few minutes this time and Jungkook is about to approach him when someone else takes over his job.

"Jiminie, wait! Jimin!" It's another boy, probably a fellow dancer, and Firecracker/Jimin turns and greets them with a bright smile.

Jungkook lets out a strangled sound. That must be the most beautiful thing he has ever seen. He is so gay. Seokjin is right. He is a Gaylord. Jimin is so cute.

Jungkook deflates a little again, and decides not to approach Jimin today.

"Hyung, please, I don't know what to do!"

Yoongi opens one of his eyes, probably ready to murder Jungkook, but Jungkook knows he should be safe because Yoongi loves him the most.

"It's 9 am, Jeon Jungkook. I went to bed two hours ago."

"Hyung, he's so cute! And beautiful! His nose is really adorable? And I just can't get to talk to him! I just want to apologize! Maybe get to know him! I know his name now! It's Jimin! Hyung, help me!"

Yoongi opens his second eye and stares at Jungkook before sighing in defeat and sitting up.

"Jungkook, before I even start with this, I want you to know that I never want to hear this gross gay shit again from you. Now to the main part: I am the most unsocial person ever. Why do you think I could help you? You should ask people that can actually talk to others. Not like me and you. Talk to Seokjin hyung. Or Hoseokie-“

"Hoseok hyung! Of course! Thank you, hyung! Love you!"

And with that Jungkook runs off and Yoongi is just. Tired. This fucking brat.

Jungkook hurries like he’s running late. He knows Hoseok is in the studio, practicing, and even though there is no time pressure or anything, Jungkook still runs to see him as soon as possible.

He quickly navigates through the familiar halls, surprisingly not as out of breath as he usually would be when he finally reaches Hoseok’s usual practice room. (Though that’s probably because Jungkook did a lot of running lately. Maybe he should keep this up, it’s good for his stamina.)

He barges in and sighs in relief when he sees Hoseok, next to another guy, but he doesn’t pay attention to him for now, only concentrating on his target.

“Hyung!” Jungkook calls out, rushing towards him and both of them turn at his call. Jungkook freezes.

Jimin. Jimin is there. Next to Hoseok. Cute Firecracker Jimin is currently in this room, next to his own hyung. Jimin. Jimin is there. Next to Hoseok. He’s right there. Jungkook brain melts for a second.

“Jungkookie! Hey, what’s up?” Hoseok greets him and Jungkook stares back and forth between him and Jimin.

Jimin seems to be equally shocked, even going as far as to take a step back from him. That hurts a little bit, admittedly.

Jungkook can’t find his words again.

“Jungkook?”

“Hyung!” He says (yells) making Hoseok jump in surprise. “Ca- uh, can I-I talk to you. Outside. Now. Please.” His voice is way too high and Jungkook kind of hates himself for it. Jimin is back to glaring at him, but Jungkook is used to that by now, he still looks cute.

Hoseok looks confused but nods, only telling Jimin that he’d be right back and he follows Jungkook outside.

As soon as they step out of the room, Jungkook slides down the wall and Hoseok eyes him, still confused. “What’s up with you?”

“Hu-Hyung. You know—you know Jimin?”

Hoseok’s face immediately lights up. “Oh yes! He’s actually one of the contemporary dancers, but he’s gonna join us for the upcoming routine starting next week, so I talked over some stuff with him. I didn’t know you knew him!”

Jungkook doesn’t know what to do with that information. He has to process it. Jimin is going to join them. For a routine. Next week. Join them. Jimin. Joining them.

Jungkook smiles widely. “He’s gonna join our practice?!” He jumps to his feet and grabs Hoseok’s shoulders who flinches from Jungkook’s sudden mood change, nodding reluctantly.

“Hyung! Please introduce us!” He’s almost shouting at this point and Hoseok looks slightly scared, but agrees.

“I was gonna do that anyway. You’re one of our centers, so.”

“Yes okay, let’s do it!”

“What? Right now?”

“Of course! No wait-“ Jungkook lets go of Hoseok and turns around, taking a deep breath to calm down. This is his chance. He can finally apologize to Jimin. Set things right, establish that he is not a bully. That he would never bully him ever because his hair looks really soft and shiny, and his cheeks have a beautiful natural blush, and his eyes glimmer and wrinkle when he laughs.

(He’s not gonna say those things of course. But a sorry is overdue.)

Hoseok still looks a bit out of it, but he opens the door again for them to go back inside and Jimin is waiting there, leaning at the wall and scrolling down his phone. He looks up when they step inside and immediately freezes when his eyes fall on Jungkook. Jungkook feels kind of awful about it.

“Jimin, I want you to meet Jungkook! He is also part of the course and he is one of our usual centers so I wanted you to meet him before the rest anyway. He’s our golden student.”

“Hyung,” Jungkook whines, his ears and cheeks burning and Jimin eyes him warily and he even looks scared. Jesus fucking Christ.

Jungkook raises his hands and waves lamely. “H-hi.”

Jimin stares at him before turning to Hoseok. “I’m sorry, b-but I don’t think I can work with him.”

It’s like a slap in the face, but Jungkook kind of expected it. Hoseok, however, looks shocked. “What? Why?”

Jimin squirms a bit, his eyes glued to the ground now. “You know—I told you about the guy that terrorizes me lately. It’s him. I can’t work with him, I’m sorry.”

Hoseok looks speechless for a moment and this is Jungkook’s chance to set things right, to finally clear the air. He takes a deep breath, ready to get everything out now that he has the chance to at last.

But of course he is interrupted again. By Hoseok. Who is laughing hysterically.

Jimin looks at him in worry and Jungkook closes his eyes because this can’t end well.

“Ju-Jungkook? Your bully? Jimin, please! That’s hysterical! Oh my God, that’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all week!” Hoseok continues to laugh, one fit after the other, and neither Jimin nor Jungkook seem to appreciate it.

“It is him! He shoved me against a wall and stared me down and called me short! He dumped an iced drink over my head! He even followed me around, trying to actually hurt me!”

“Jimin!” Hoseok lets out another loud round of laughter. “Jungkook cried when I told him his nose is too big for his face! He would never bully anyone.”

Jungkook covers his nose with his hand and glares at his hyung. He’s still sensitive about that.

“C’mon, Jungkook,” Hoseok turns to him now, his face all read from laughing that hard. “Tell him how ridiculous that is.”

Jungkook gulps and he looks from Hoseok back to Jimin, who is still avoiding his eyes. Now or never.

“No, I—I did do those things.”

Hoseok sobers up immediately and for a second they just stare at each other and Jungkook watches how Hoseok tries to process that.

Jungkook never managed to finish his sentences when it’s about Jimin. Never managed to finally say what he wants to say. He won’t be interrupted again. “But none of them were on purpose! It’s all a big misunderstanding!”

Jimin finally looks at him now and frowns. “That’s such a cheap lie!”

“It’s not! That time in front of the coffee shop I slipped! And the next day I was daydreaming and walked into you and the cup just fell out of my hand! And all the other times I tried approaching you, you thought I would hurt you again, when I just wanted to apologize!”

“What about the tea?”

“It was a cold day!”

“The cupcake then?”

“It was an apology present!”

“The scarf?”

“You were walking outside without one, I wanted to help you!”

“How about the staring down when you pushed me against the wall?”

“I didn’t push you, I fell! And I only did that because you’re so cute!”

Jimin shuts up. Hoseok lets out a high-pitched sound which he immediately covers with his hand. Jungkook feels how his soul is leaving his body.

Immediately, all the blood in his body rushes into his head and all he can think about is how to run, flee the situation as fast as possible.

So he does just that. He turns around and runs out and doesn’t stop until he is back home and he still doesn’t stop until he walks into his roommate’s room and slips under Yoongi’s blanket to hide forever.

Yoongi doesn’t ask, only lets Jungkook engulf him, accepting Jungkook’s rapid headshake when asked if he wants to talk about it.

Jungkook manages not to run into Jimin for five whole days. He doesn’t really know how, but somehow he manages. Hoseok gives him meaningful looks, but Jungkook begs him not to talk about it and his hyung listens. In fact, none of his friends approach the topic, thankfully.

But Jungkook knows he can’t escape him forever.

It’s the following Monday when Jungkook steps into the studio and almost turns around to run again when Jimin is standing at the front next to Hoseok and their coach.

Jungkook avoids any and all eye contact and sits down at the very end of the room while their coach introduces Jimin who would join them for the next few weeks because their next routine would have some contemporary elements mixed with their usual urban and hip-hop style. Usually Jungkook would be really interested in this. Right now he wants a bus to run him over.

Their coach makes them introduce themselves one by one. Jungkook always hates that anyway because he never knows what to say, but this time it’s even worse. He somehow chokes out his name and age and thankfully that seems to be enough for now. He feels Jimin’s eyes on him, but he doesn’t look up to meet them.

Their usual practice begins though and their coach asks them to warm up and stretch individually and Jungkook immediately walks up to Yugyeom and Mingyu, just so he won’t be alone and have Jimin talk to him, maybe. It works and Jimin doesn’t approach him and just stays with Hoseok in the front. It’s easier to breathe then.

Surprisingly, after that Jungkook is too busy to even think about his impending doom being in the same room as him. They’re learning a new choreo after all, with brand new elements, and Jungkook takes these things very seriously. He pays attention to everything that is shown to him and they get twenty minutes of individual times again to learn a new figure. Jungkook gets a good spot close to the mirror and he starts repeating the steps, not immediately getting the hang of it because it’s different from what he usually does, but he’s getting better with each time. It’s satisfying.

He is totally immersed in it, so much that he doesn’t notice Jimin walking up to him. Jungkook looks up into the mirror and locks eyes with Jimin.

It happens before Jungkook can stop it. He loses his balance, falling out of the steps and his arm lashes out, his hand hitting Jimin square in the face and pushing him back. Jimin stumbles back, his hand covering his face and Jungkook stares at him in horror.

The students around them turn around, stopping their practice to see what happens, and Jungkook feels a hot and cold at the same time, breaking out in nervous sweat.

“Oh my God, I—Oh no, you—“

“I swear, you are trying to kill me,” Jimin mumbles behind his hand. He rubs his nose and slowly lowers his hand and thankfully nothing worse seemed to have happened. His cute button nose is still as good as before.  A little red maybe.

Jungkook kind of feels like crying and he doesn’t know what to say. Jimin gives him a small smile and Jungkook heart stops.

“Don’t worry, I know it was an accident. I know, now, that you’re not trying to bully me.”

“I—I’m sorry. I was just surprised. I swear this doesn’t usually happen.”

“I hope so, I don’t know if I can survive this.”

They are talking. Having a normal conversation. Jungkook’s head is filled with exclamation marks.

“I actually came around to say that you’re not turning your hips enough. You have to gain more momentum.”

Jungkook is confused for a moment before he remembers where they are and what he was doing before punching Jimin in the face. “Oh. Okay.”

“Try it again.” Jimin takes a step back and Jungkook turns back to the mirror, taking a deep breath to get his concentration back. It’s hard when Jimin’s there watching him.

He goes through the steps again and Jimin stops him twice and gives him a few pointers which are actually really helpful and he whoops when Jungkook finally gets it right. “You’re really good, Jungkook!” Jimin praises him and Jungkook feels his heart going crazy in his chest.

Jimin is suddenly so different to him, so nice, so close. He’s smiling, even praising him and saying his name. “Thank you…” Jungkook says and Jimin’s smile widens. This isn’t good for Jungkook’s heart.

“You can call me hyung, you know.”

Jungkook looks at him in surprise. “Hyung?”

Jimin nods. Jungkook frowns. “You don’t look like my hyung.”

Jimin’s smile freezes and his eye twitches slightly. “Don’t push it, Jungkook.”

Jungkook grins at him and he turns around to continue dancing. Jimin shakes his head and leaves him be for now and Jungkook smiles to himself.

This is how it continues to be. Jimin is now part of this class and Jungkook regularly sees him. It seems like they both just silently agreed not to talk about Jungkook’s mini confession from before, and Jungkook is glad.

Of course, the same can’t be said from his hyungs.

“Jungkookie,” Hoseok starts, his voice serious, but Jungkook knows better. “When are you gonna make a move? Since you think he’s sooo cute.” Hoseok’s face splits into a grin and Yoongi next to him joins his laughter because that’s what Yoongi always does, because he’s whipped.

“You should hear him at home. ‘Hyung, Jimin laughed at my joke today! It’s so nice when he laughs. I will tell him jokes every day from now on!’ Please, that’s so gay.”

Jungkook squints. “That’s rich coming from the President of the Gay.”

“Yah,” Yoongi warns him. “I’m the President of the Bisexual.” Hoseok snickers next to him and Jungkook rolls his eyes.

“Seriously though,” Seokjin joins in. “Are you really not gonna make a move?”

Jungkook rapidly shakes his head, focusing on the sandwich in front of him, just so he can busy his hands. “It won’t get me anywhere. I don’t think he like me like that.”

Hoseok snorts. “Oh please, he always hangs around you during practice. ‘Jungkook, you’re doing so great!’ and ‘Oh, Jungkook, you’re so talented! You learn so fast’ how can you not notice?”

“He’s just helping me with the steps!”

“Jungkook. He likes you.”

Jungkook stare at his sandwich and he wonders if something like that could ever be true.

He watches out for it, during the next practice. He catches Jimin’s eyes a lot in the mirror and he’s always ready to throw Jungkook a bright smile or a thumbs up. Jimin comes over to him during individual a total of six time. At the end he even offers to stretch together and Jungkook realizes just how flexible Jimin is. Jungkook doesn’t know what to do with that information.

Jungkook thinks back to what Hoseok told him during lunch the day before. He then decides.

It’s still ice cold outside and Jungkook carefully carries the hot cup in his hand, quickly walking inside the building, and sighing in relief.

It’s kind of like da déjà vu, to stand here in front of the ballet studios in the morning and he watches the doors like a hawk.

Within five minutes Jimin steps out and he looks surprised to see Jungkook.

“Jungkook?”

“Hu-hyung! I brought you tea. It’s cold today, so, um, drink it and warm up.” He slowly holds it out for Jimin and carefully takes the cup, still a little stunned.

“Why-“

“I see you later? Bye!” Jungkook hurries back, his cheeks a little warm, but step one was successful. He gets out his phone and crosses out ‘tea’ from the list in his doc. He scrolls down and sighs. Only a few more things to go. Things he tried giving Park Jimin, but failed before. Let’s go.

The next day, Jungkook is waiting again and Jimin is still surprised.

“Hyung! I brought you a cupcake. I hope you like it. It’s my favorite flavor. Please eat it well! I see you later!”

Jimin stares at him as Jungkook hurries off, crossing off yet another thing off his list.

The next day he brings Jimin coffee. Again, only leaving Jimin with it and hurrying away.

The day after that they have practice together and it’s snowing heavily outside. Jungkook sticks around and offers to walk Jimin to his dorm under his umbrella since the other didn’t bring one.

Jungkook soon finds out why.

As soon as they step outside, Jimin reaches out his hand and start giggling when the snowflakes hit his naked hand. Jimin is staring up towards the sky, his mouth wide open and his eyes glowing.

“It’s so pretty, Jungkookie!” He says and he steps out from under the umbrella to twirl around in the snow, laughing loudly. Jungkook watches him in wonder.

“I really love snow!” Jimin says, turning to him with a wide grin. “It’s beautiful isn’t it?” Jimin’s eyes follow the falling flakes and Jungkook looks at him, really looks. His cheeks are rosy from the cold, just like the tip of his nose, his eyes turned into slits from how wide he his grinning, his light-hearted giggle echoing around them.

“Yeah. Beautiful,” Jungkook agrees.

Jungkook brings Jimin all kinds of stuff every day they have class. Jungkook automatically wakes up earlier to pick up that particular thing on his list and by now Jimin isn’t surprised any more to meet Jungkook outside by the studios. Sometimes he’s even there before Jungkook, welcoming him with a warm smile.

Jungkook learns what kind of tea Jimin likes. How he likes his coffee. What kind of pastries he likes the most.

They walk back to the dorms after practice together and Jimin always gives him the widest smile and Jungkook really wants to take his hand when they walk down the road together, but he can’t ever get himself to do it.

Jungkook checks the last thing on his list, an item that he had avoided because he can’t just bring it up whenever. It’s the scarf.

Every day he checks if he can even use it, but Jimin never forgets his own.

That is until three weeks later. Three weeks of them meeting at least once every day. Three weeks of Jimin growing closer and closer to him, talking about himself, about how he started dancing, about his family back in Busan. He talks about how scared he used to be of Jungkook and how silly that seems now. He even calls Jungkook cute ones and Jungkook’s heart bursts.

It’s three weeks after so much happened, but at the same time nothing happening between them.

They’re leaving for practice and when they step outside he notices how Jimin’s neck his bare and he is shivering next to Jungkook. It isn’t snowing today, but it’s still ice cold.

Jungkook abruptly halts and Jimin stops too, looking back at him in surprise. “Jungkookie?”

Jungkook takes a deep breath and starts unwrapping his scarf. Jimin watches him in wonder and Jungkook steps closer to him and starts putting on Jimin who stands there, frozen and looking up at him with big eyes. Jungkook can’t bring himself to directly look at Jimin, so instead he focuses on carefully wrapping Jimin up. Jungkook is glad he was wearing a really big scarf because Jimin looks so cute in it.

“I don’t want you to get sick,” Jungkook whispers. His entire body feels like a house on fire and he feels the urge to run again, embarrassed by what he just has done.

Jimin stops him by grabbing his sleep. “Look at me, Jungkook.”

Jungkook slowly looks up and meets Jimin’s eyes and he’s taken aback when he takes in Jimin’s expression. Jimin’s cheeks are bright red, more than his natural blush, and his eyes are wrinkled from his wide smile.

Jimin reaches up und unwraps the scarf again and for a moment Jungkook is confused, but before he can ask, Jimin wraps it around both of their necks, stepping closer until he’s standing right in front of him, so close that their chests are touching and that Jungkook can feel Jimin’s warm breath on his face. The lower parts of their faces are covered by the big scarf and Jimin lets out a shaky breath before getting on his tip toes and pressing his lips against Jungkook’s.

Jungkook’s brain stops working for a second. Actually, everything stops working in that moment. His heart, his brain, his lungs, God even his damn appendix. He can’t feel the wind, nor the cold. Can’t hear anything around them. Can only feel Jimin’s incredibly soft lips.

Jimin slowly pulls back, lowering himself again, and looking up at him with round eyes. Jungkook stares down to Jimin’s lips, licking over his own to savor the taste.

“Again,” Jungkook whispers and leans down, his arms moving to embrace Jimin who squeals against Jungkook before kissing him back.

Jungkook doesn’t know how long they stand there and kiss, but they only stop when someone yells for them to get a room. The separate and both giggle, Jimin pressing his face into Jungkook’s neck, his nose feeling ice cold against his skin.

“C’mon, let’s find a room. It’s really cold,” Jimin whispers and Jungkook agrees and they turn together, scarf still wrapped around the two of them. Jungkook reaches out and takes Jimin’s.

Jimin’s squeezes back and Jungkook—

Jungkook is really happy.
