Work Text:
The clouds disappeared, the night sky was totally clear and the stars recovered their presence in the sky, the summer nights were the favorite of a redhead that that day had insomnia.
When he was little once in a visit to his grandfather Kirishima could not sleep and left his room to go to the garden where he found his grandfather sitting looking at the sky.
“Grandfather?” asked the redhead curiously
“Kirishima dear, what are you doing here so late?”
“I just could not sleep.”
“Haha, me neither, come, let's see the stars together”
From that day every time he has problems falling asleep he goes to see the stars, it is a secret hobby that he never told anyone.
“You know Kirishima, your grandmother was the one who taught me to observe the stars, in her last days she asked me to see the different scenarios that those little distant lights gave us, nowadays seeing the night sky reminds me of those moments, if you find a special person, go together to see the stars.”
For that comment was that Kirishima kept that hobby hidden.
Years passed since that time, his senior year of high school and his entry to the U.A was so hectic that his insomnia problems were not present, after all, he trained daily to achieve becoming that hero he wanted to be.
The first time the redhead was able to take a real break was during the first semester vacations, at that time they were all living in the school building, so as it was a vacation some of them left for a few days to visit their parent houses.
After a late training that he was doing to not lose the routine Kirishima threw himself to his bed, his eyes could not close, he turned from side to side in the bed without achieving any result, with a long sigh he sat on the edge of his bed, resigned, he knew he couldn’t fall asleep. He got up and went to the kitchen where he drank a glass of water, the room was empty because either they were not in the building or they were already in their rooms because it was too late.
Kirishima started on his way to his room but stopped on the stairs, there was no one to see what he wanted to do so he got up to the terrace of that building where he was living with his companions.
When he opened the door he was greeted by a breeze characteristic of the Japanese summer.
"Ah, how good it feels" thought the redhead who leaned up on his back in the middle of the terrace. The vast sky covered him as well as a certain nostalgia, it had been a long time since he had done that, so many memories passed through his mind.
"I would like to show this view to Bakugo" murmured the redhead without thinking, when he noticed his words a slight blush invaded him "If you find a special person, go together to see the stars" he remembered the words that his grandfather had told him. What was he thinking? "Why Bakugo?" He repeated to himself, he always thought that the special person would be the person he loved but at that moment he wanted nothing more than to show the landscape to who his friend was.
His heart pounded more strongly. What was Bakugo to him?
A yawn came out of his mouth, even with those doubts the calm of the sky had returned the dream as always did, he decided to return but he stopped a few moments in the door of Bakugo's room but then continued, after all his friend had not yet returned from his visit to his family.
Toc toc toc the repeated knocks on his door woke him “Get up you idiot head or you'll miss lunch”
"Idiot head?" Those words took all the sleep out of him and with a jump Kirishima opened the door.
“Welcome back Baku-“His dialogue was choked by a hand that threatened to make explosions on his face.
“How much longer do you plan to sleep? They sent me to look for you” irritated the blond responded.
“Sorry, I'll change quickly and I'll go” minutes later Kirishima left the room, next to his door was Bakugo waiting for him.
“Move yourself or the food will be cold” he said with simplicity and both began to walk towards the dining room of the building which was already empty, they both sat down to eat and Kirishima started a new conversation.
“I did not think you would go back so fast” commented the redhead taking the bowl of rice.
“I had to go back earlier, because of work issues my parents were leaving and staying alone in that house was going to be very boring”
Explaining their reasons, they both continued eating while still talking about trivial topics.
“Hey Kirishima” Bakugo called him after leaving his dishes in the kitchen.
“What happens Bakugo?”
“Come to the terrace tonight I want to show you something”
“What thing?”
“Don’t ask, just come” the blond made it clear that he would not give details of why he was asking for that, Kirishima was left with a big doubt and it was just past lunch it was still a lot for the night.
It would be obvious to say that for the rest of the day Kirishima could not help but think about what the blond was planning to do, he only managed to get distracted when he found a difficult level of a game on his phone.
"Where are you?" A message appeared on the top of the phone, it was already eight thirty and the redhead had not noticed.
“Damn” he exclaimed as he quickly left his room to go to the terrace.
"You took it your time" Bakugo complained when the terrace door opened.
Kirishima was surprised with the view in front of him, there on that terrace was Bakugo next to an important telescope.
“Is that a telescope?” Kirishima asked approaching the object to see it in more detail.
“Yes, my parents gave it to me, I didn’t wanted to bring it but my mother forced me and I couldn’t do anything against it”
“It's awesome” Kirishima responded animated as if he were a small boy Bakugo smiled softly but his partner did not notice him being focused on that object.
“Do you know how to use it?”
“Yeah... when I was little I used to see the stars with my grandfather and therefore on a vacation my father bought one so I learned how to use it”
The redhead concentrated on finding a suitable lens and focus on the Moon that day was in his full state.
“Look Bakugo!” He called him with energy when he managed to focus as he wanted to the Moon, Kirishima moved away to let the blond see through the telescope.
“Wow” commented the blond when he was be able to see in much more detail than at first glance the different reliefs of the Moon
Both Kirishima and Bakugo took turns not only to see the Moon but also to see different stars. When they got tired they sat side by side both looking at the sky in a comfortable silence.
"If you find a special person, go together to see the stars" his grandfather's phrase appeared again in Kirishima's head. The joy he felt at that moment was not just joy but he couldn’t say exactly what else was, being next to Bakugo watching the stars made him feel special.
“You know… to say the truth I hadn’t thought of using that telescope” Bakugo began to speak “But when I was about to leave it under my bed I remembered that once in your room I saw a big book about this kind of thing and I thought maybe you would like this...” Kirishima was surprised, he didn’t think that Bakugo was fixed on those details “Hey… say something...”
“Oh ... I ... I do not know what to say, I'm very happy, seeing the stars is something I used to do with my grandfather when I was little and I love to watch them, it's a hobby that I always hide”
“Why do you hide it?” Asked Bakugo with a strange curiosity, Kirishima hesitated a moment, but this made him realize something he realized what is the true meant of that strange feeling that only appears when he is next to the blond.
“Because... when I was little, my grandfather once told me that I have to go to see the stars with my special person, that's why I never mentioned it because I always wanted to it be secret until I find that person.”
“You are a romantic” commented Bakugo giving a soft blow on the head to the redhead.
“But you know, I've done it”
“What?”-
“I have seen the stars with a person who is special to me”
“Wait... Are you saying...?”
“Yes... at first I didn’t understand but now I do” a few seconds of silence passed before Kirishima spoke again “Bakugo, I love you”
The redhead was very embarrassed by what he had just done, his eyes were looking at the floor and every second that went by increased his anxiety
“Idiot” replied the blonde who also looked away “I love you too” when Kirishima heard those words he hugged the blonde.
“Really?”
“If it weren’t like that, I wouldn’t bother to do all of this”
Kirishima moved a few inches to see the face of the blond that was blushed like him, both of them had trouble seeing each other in the eyes but both had a warm feeling arising from their chest.
When Kirishima let go of the blond they both settled back on the floor, their hands were intertwined and the redhead's head rested on Bakugo's shoulder.
“Hey Kirishima” Bakugo spoke softly to not disturb his partner.
“Hm?”
“Let’s see the stars more often”
Kirishima got up from Bakugo's shoulder to respond with a big smile “Yes!” followed by a small kiss that was given before going to see how the dawn began to happen.
