Work Text:
It has only been around a week since moving in and Jimin has regretted agreeing to room with Taehyung about a hundred times over. The first few days Jimin wanted to get situated and maybe explore a bit before classes started, but Taehyung kept forcing him to go to so many different things. He hadn't even figured out where all his classes were, but he did know where all the dorms, some frats, a couple of restaurants, and a lot of stores were.
This week, when he's supposed to been getting used to classes and adjusting to the college lifestyle, Taehyung has dragged him to over a dozen clubs. He says it's because Jimin missed the involvement fair (which had been the one thing Taehyung decided not to make him go to) and he needs to get involved. The actual reason, Jimin knows, is that Taehyung doesn't want to go places alone and be forced to talk with new people without someone as a buffer.
And it's Saturday afternoon and Jimin has homework that he told himself he would complete because he's not being taken by Taehyung again. But then, Taehyung mentioned the dance club and how it's meeting today and how Jimin would really, really like it.
So, now he's here, sitting on the dance studio floor, Taehyung buzzing by his side as the president, or he assumes it's the president, gives a brief introduction. The club’s not huge, but in the tiny dance room it looks pretty big. Jimin's sitting across from the wall that’s all mirrors, so he can see everyone on his side and there are all kinds of people. Lanky guys, heavy girls, people only looking at their phones and he swears there's this one guy with a camera, flipping through pictures on the back of it, and not all of them seem dance-oriented, but everyone has to be interested. Why would you go to a meeting if not?
After some brief history, the dance club is only five years old, they have the typical awkward introduce yourself thing. It's name, major, and year introductions which Jimin has gone through so many times that he's no longer worried. Then, they all break. Sort of. The president, Yukwon or something like it, said something about needing to set up and that he'd be back in a minute.
"What does that mean?" Jimin asks, turning to Taehyung, who has this weird smile.
"They're going to perform." He's been acting odd and in this strange mood all afternoon. This almost can’t contain his excitement and happiness mood when he really has to no reason to be. He's not even the one who’s into dance, Jimin is. Sure, Taehyung’s always had a minor interest in it (back in high school he tried to get Jimin to teach him, which failed horribly because Taehyung's definitely not the best student), but he’s not an actively involved in dance guy. Taehyung’s more of a sedentary being who likes to be on his laptop, read comics, and play games. There's no possible reason Jimin can think of about why Taehyung paid any attention to the dance club at the fair.
Yukwon comes back in a baggy shirt and basketball shorts, more dance appropriate attire, and there are four people following him. They club members are all ushered back and then the five get into a triangle formation: Yukwon center, two girls behind him, and two guys behind them. There are five whole seconds of them all looking down, people murmuring in the background confused and excited, then Yukwon snaps and a nice bass hip hop beat comes out through the dance studio's speakers. Even from the first part of the dance routine, Jimin can tell that they're all pretty amazing, especially from what he expected of a club. They start off in a hip hop style dance routine to fit the background music, and they all flow into each move pretty well and seem to be in sync while keeping their own style. Jimin's eyes land on this particular guy, all in black with a snapback and kneepads. Not to say that he's the best one up there, though he is pretty good. He just catches Jimin's attention, his dance style, his ability to hit all the moves. When they get to a part in the dance where they all get solos, this guy turns into amazing. Something about him has him grab the crowds attention, make them all focus on him. They end with the song slowing down, switching to a more contemporary style and the other guy and one of the girls are the focal points. It's really good. The whole thing start to finish was incredible and people clap loudly at the end, Taehyung hollering along with them. It was so impressive.
Yukwon grins as he goes back to the center, then he introduces them as the top five people in the dance club, and as such they have the top five positions. It's Hyunah, a senior, Minji and Jongin, juniors, and the one who caught Jimin's attention is Hoseok, a sophomore, only a sophomore, and he's the treasurer. Then, Yukwon goes on to explain how someone else could possibly get to their position, but Jimin zones out because that whole performance finally sinks in. It hits him that they are college students. He's in college. Some of those dancers are trying to become professional and they're already at an amazing level. Sure, Jimin's flirted with the idea of being a dance major and he's pretty good, but he's not to that level.
Yukwon claps loudly and Jimin's brought back to attention. He thanks them all for coming and just like that it's officially over. Which is simply a way of saying you can go and talk to whoever now, the mandatory stuff is done. And usually Taehyung would turn to Jimin and smile, give an opinion, or at least talk about it a bit, but this time he just stands up and walks away. Jimin hurries next to him and is about to ask what he's doing when Taehyung's face lights up and he's waving at someone. When Jimin turns to see who it is, he's kind of surprised because it's the sophomore guy, Hoseok, who's waving back. Hoseok manages to get away from the other four dancers discussion to come over.
"I remember you from the fair," he smiles. "Taehyung? Right?"
"Yeah." Now, Jimin gets it, the buzzing, the excitement Taehyung was doing next to him. He’s grinning so wide Jimin wants to kick him and tell him to turn it down.
He nods, smiling, then turns towards Jimin. "So, you must be Jimin. He mentioned that you're a good dancer."
Jimin glances at Taehyung, who just turns his 600 watt smile towards him. "Well, I'm okay."
"You can't be humble when Taehyung built you up this much already," Hoseok jokes. Really? Because Taehyung never made an effort to compliment Jimin to his face. Besides, he can't really says he's amazing when he just watched that performance.
"No, he's actually really good." Taehyung gives this sly glance over to Jimin and he really is ready to punch him.
"Oh, really then how about-" Hoseok's interrupted by a hand clasped on his shoulder and he turns. It's two other guys: one tall, lanky with short hair; the other pale, around Jimin's height, camera around his neck, and looking very disinterested.
"Hey, we're going to head out." The tall one says, then scans over Taehyung and Jimin.
"Yeah, I'll come with, just two seconds," Hoseok replies, then turns back to Taehyung and Jimin. "Next Saturday you'll be here, right?"
"Yeah. Of course." Taehyung grins. Of course. Jimin elbows Taehyung in the stomach which Hoseok doesn't seem to notice.
Hoseok smiles back, "Good, I'll see you both then. And Jimin, we'll see how good you really are, huh?"
Jimin blinks, "What?" But, Hoseok's already gone to catch up to the other two and is on his way out. He turns to Taehyung, expecting similar confusion, but the other is still grinning after them with that too large smile that makes Jimin roll his eyes. The best thing to do is for him to punch Taehyung in the arm, not like he's been wanting to throughout that whole conversation or anything.
Taehyung rubs at the spot, frowning, "What?"
Jimin smiles, "Let's go."
"That hurt," Taehyung whines, but he still follows.
---
It's maybe twelve o'clock in the morning and Jimin's trying to rest. He's all bundled up in his covers and only Taehyung's lamp is on because he stays up until ungodly hours. It would be so easy to sleep if Taehyung wasn't standing at the edge of Jimin's bed. Actually, he could usually deal with that, but Taehyung also has this smile on his face that is way too creepy with the minimal light and is too much to ignore.
"What?" he sighs.
"So, are we joinng the dance club?"
Jimin stares at him because why is he asking when he already told that guy yes.
"Jimin," Taehyung whines and pouts and shakes Jimin's legs. "C'mon!" Sometimes he wonders how they're the same age.
"Fine." And he gets that big fat grin back that practically blinds him. "Why do you even want to join?"
"I've always wanted to learn," Taehyung replies, and goes over to sit down on his bed.
"Right."
"I did! Remember I asked you that one time? So, I looked at their table at the involvement fair and Hoseok-hyung burst into this random small mini routine or something. It was cool and he talked to me about it and stuff." Taehyung is smiling down at his blanket, fiddling with it. "He's really nice actually."
Jimin rolls his eyes, "Well, hopefully he can deal with teaching you.”
Taehyung huffs, "What does that mean?"
"I'm going to bed." Not even ten seconds after he flips over to face the wall, does a pillow hit him on the side.
"What did you mean?"
"I'm keeping this pillow, I hope you know." Jimin replies, then quickly grabs for the pillow and hugs it to his stomach because, in the next second, Taehyung is jumping on him and they're thrashing around on a bed that can barely fit one person. It's no wonder they both end up falling off, landing on the floor hard enough to to topple over some of Jimin's face stuff and Taehyung's soda cans and all around make a whole lot of noise.
They glance at each other, then Taehyung snatches his pillow back, Jimin runs over to turns off Taehyung's lamp and they're both in bed by the time there's a knock on their door.

When Jimin thought of college he expected his time to be full of things. Not necessarily school work or parties, but he thought he'd be struggling to keep up with the time. Yet, he's sitting in the student center on his laptop just searching up random dance videos, or music videos, and somehow he ends up on animals too. He just stops as he realizes how boring he's being and stares off into the distance wondering if this is going to be his college life, when there's a flash in front of his face. The white manages to go away in time for him to see a guy, a very familiar guy, staring at the back of a camera. He aims his camera and takes another picture, no flash this time.
It's probably a school photographer because everyone around him is on a laptop or has a notebook in hand and at least looks studious. What's bothering him is that he knows that person, from somewhere. Somehow.
(It takes two classes for Jimin to realize the guys in his art history class. This is after he walks into class and pauses right by the guy's desk, finally having the sudden epiphany, and not knowing he sort of froze in the middle of walking. That is until he sees the guy staring at him. He gives a smile, which only earns him more staring, then he scurries off towards his own desk. And after focusing on the back of the guy's head for the entire class time, he also realizes he was one of Hoseok's friends.)
---
The next meeting is a lot less structured. Yukwon talks in front of everyone for about five minutes, kind of rambling on about stuff he mentioned in the first meeting, then he shouts out freestyle. About half the people there laugh and holler while the other half looks confused.
"New members should go first, yeah?" Yukwon says as everyone starts to stand up, following the older members. Then , he walks over to the computer and presses a button, a nice steady beat kicks up.
There's a sudden weight on Jimin's shoulders and he's thrown forward a bit. He looks to his left to see Hoseok grinning back and forth between him and Taehyung.
"Let's see those dance skills." He grins, then pushes Taehyung forward into the middle of the circle. It takes a second for Taehyung to actually catch on, but then he gives this wide-eyed stare and turns to Jimin, seemingly begging for help.
"He's not...deathly afraid of crowds is he?" Hoseok frowns.
"Does it matter now that you've already done it?" It's coming from the other side of Hoseok and, when Jimin looks over, the same guy that's in his art history class. Not that the other seems to notice.
"Ah, so you've been volunteered, huh?" Yukwon says, "This is nothing special, just show us a couple moves, then point to a person to go next." Taehyung nods slowly, but he still looks lost and a little panicky. It takes three long seconds, but Jimin figures out how to help and tries to gesture that one dance move he showed Taehyung that one time a while ago. A very long while ago actually. It's surprising Taehyung still manages to recognize it and tries to replicate it. And although it's kind of sloppy and not right at all, he's still dancing.
Jimin claps and smiles for Taehyung as he walks back over, but that quickly fades when Taehyung grabs his arm and pulls him into the circle while he stands in Jimin's spot. He stares at Taehyung, who's smiling wide and cheering him on. This is the thanks he gets.
He gives a sigh, but resigns to his fate and focuses on the beat. There's a particular point he catches that he likes and he just goes for it. He starts off in a pop hip-hop mix type thing before it tapers off to a hodgepodge of random stuff that he works together. There he decides to stop because Taehyung took around forty seconds and Jimin's sure he already passed that. He expects the gracious and standard amount of clapping, but it's actually pretty enthusiastic and he got some cheers. Taehyung is grinning at him the widest and shouting his name, while Hoseok is giving this haughty clap, struggling to keep back a smile. So, Jimin points to him and calls him out. Right away, Hoseok grins wider.
"Veterans last," Yukwon shouts, before the other can take a step. He smiles over at Jimin, then points over at some random girl. "You next." She stiffens, but dutifully heads into the center as Jimin leaves.
"You're not bad," Hoseok greets, then ruffles his hair.
Jimin usually hates that, but Hoseok doing it makes him smile. "Thanks." Then, Taehyung slaps at his arms and body, excited and happy, saying something about how Jimin's really good. Hoseok's friend, Namjoon, even offers him a good job. The other one, though, he doesn't even look over until Hoseok pulls him closer.
"You were alright," he shrugs.
Hoseok frowns, "Then let's wait for your turn, huh?"
---
Taehyung ends up dragging Jimin to a party that the dance team throws over at Yukwon's house. It's not really a college party, but a legitimate party with food, non-alcoholic drinks (because Yukwon said he can't trust freshman not to somehow wind up with alcohol, ever), and random games. He doesn't really get to experience any of that because right away Taehyung leads him all around the house until they get to the backyard where Hoseok's sitting at a patio table with Namjoon and the other guy he's always with in the club. It's pretty loud outside and, although Taehyung calls at him twice, they have to go over to Hoseok and tap him on the shoulder to get his attention. That could also be due to the red in his cheeks, the overly happy smile, and the over excessive greeting he gives them.
"When did you get here?" Hoseok asks, motioning over at the two other chairs for them to sit on. Of course, Taehyung snatches the one next to Hoseok so Jimin has to sit next to the friend that never quite seems happy. When Jimin sits down he can see the bottles under the table which he guesses are what's filling the three cups on the table.
"A bit ago, actually." Taehyung says.
"Well, have you liked it?"
"It's awful, I don't know why you forced me here." The hyung next to Jimin sighs and leans back in his chair.
"Just because you don't party unless you've got three shots inside of you and a beer doesn't mean it's an awful party to everyone," Hoseok says.
"I have three shots right now and it's still bad."
Hoseok rolls his eyes, then smiles back at Taehyung and Jimin. "Yoongi hyung needs drinks in order to be a nice person."
"I am a nice person," he mumbles. It's so petulant that Jimin laughs, but stops when Yoongi glances over.
"See you've already scared him," Namjoon says, then chuckles after he's hit on the arm.
"How did you manage drinks?" Jimin asks.
"Yukwon hyung trusts me," Hoseok says, then reaches under the table, pulling out two bottles, one clear one brownish. He places them on the table then looks over at him. "You can have this one if you want to try." He's pushing over the cup in front of him and Jimin's kind of hesitant because he's had alcohol two times in his life. Once was from his parents generosity, but the other time was with Taehyung and Jungkook after they managed to procure a bottle and that didn’t end well the next day.
"Don't give them that," Yoongi chides and takes the cup for himself.
"When did you grow a conscience, hyung?" Namjoon laughs.
Yoongi drowns the cup, then glares at Namjoon. "I just don't want to take care of people who can't pace themselves like I did last year with you."
“What? I’m able to hold my liquor a lot better than you.” Namjoon replies. And while they argue, Hoseok takes two cups and fills them up a little with the clear alcohol and smiles at them.
"It's alright if you don't want to," Hoseok says, but Jimin's already reaching for it. He does want to try and he doesn't like how Yoongi is treating him like a baby. So, he takes the cup, Taehyung following after, and drinks it, immediately regretting it because it burns. His eyes water and he coughs loudly and alcohol isn't supposed to hurt.
"Fuck," Jimin coughs again since he can still feel it.
"Vodka's like that," Hoseok consoles, then stares over at Taehyung, who has his eyes still squinted and staring down at the table. "Are you okay?"
Yoongi laughs loudly. "They're like sixteen and never had alcohol before you should have started them out with beer."
"Eighteen," Jimin mumbles.
He didn't really expect Yoongi to hear, but he smirks over at him, "Sorry I was off by two."
Jimin frowns, "And I've had alcohol before too."
"Oh, really? You want to try this one too? Or have you had it before since you know so much?" Yoongi reaches over and pours into the cup from the other bottle, then offers it to Jimin. And maybe if Yoongi had offered it like Hoseok, nicer and not treating him like he was five, he wouldn't have grabbed it quickly, then drank all of it in one go. Yoongi didn't, so Jimin does and it's worse. A lot worse. Jimin basically breaks out into a coughing fit. He feels kind of stupid because he hears them laughing at him and he's just here coughing, with tear welling up in his eyes. There's even someone holding at his wrist to prevent him from falling back because apparently he looked unstable. And when he's calmed down and opened his eyes, he realizes it was on Yoongi holding his wrist. Jimin would glare at Taehyung because he's laughing at him (what happened to friendship), but his eyes are still burning.
"You weren't supposed to drink it like a shot," Yoongi frowns.
"Oh?" Hoseok laughs, "Yoongi-hyung's never teases anyone unless he likes them a lot."
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Yoongi glares over, but Hoseok just laughs again. That's when Jimin starts to feel it, his vision goes a bit out focus, not enough to really be screwed up, but enough to know that it's different. He squeezes his eyes shut, then opens them again, half expecting it to be fixed. It's not. And Yoongi's looking him over. He ignores it, cheeks feeling hot (which is totally the alcohol), but he feels so lame, already feeling the alcohol when it's been maybe ten minutes.
"I think Jimin's gotten to tipsy already," Namjoon says. Which brings everyone's attention to him.
"I'm fine." He says, words perfectly in tact. Granted, that one time he got really drunk his speech was last to go.
Yoongi snorts, "We'll see in twenty minutes."
Yoongi's wrong. It takes thirty minutes for Jimin to laugh way too hard at one of Hoseok's puns which the others determine as 'he should probably go.' He protests because he just feels a bit weird, only a little bit.
Then, he stands up and he agrees.
---
When Jimin wakes up the next morning he doesn't feel hungover or awful, he just feels groggy from waking up. Honestly, he didn't drink that much and didn't feel that off, but the fact the hyungs thought he did is so embarrassing and he doesn't want to get up, instead staring over at Taehyung's empty bed.
The door opens and Taehyung calls out, "Are you okay?"
And he's being way too loud if he thought Jimin would have a hangover, but then again he could just be being an asshole. "I'm fine."
"Hoseok-hyung texted me asking if you're okay." Jimin sighs and puts his head into his pillow, he's not getting out of bed today. "He says, 'Yoongi-hyung says please suffer a hangover and learn alcohol is bad, kids.'"
Jimin groans loudly. Definitely not getting up.
---
There’s been way too many distractions for Jimin lately, so for once he drag Taehyung out to the library. They’re supposed to be concentrating and working diligently, but the library is not really a place where Jimin can do that. Even though he's in the group section, because Taehyung could never be quiet enough for the no-talking part, it's too quiet. There's a small buzz of conversation, but Jimin prefers music in the background and people enjoying themselves. It could also be that Taehyung is across from him staring at his laptop, smiling or giggling every so often.
Jimin sighs. "What are you doing?"
"Videos." Taehyung says, giving a laugh, then looks up at Jimin. "Why?"
Jimin sighs again. Neither of them are working and he really doesn't see any point of being here. To be honest, Taehyung had complained the whole way here about it only being the third week, why do they have to do work, and now Jimin has to agree. Other than them, there's maybe ten other people.
He's about to ask if they should go, but then there's an incessant clicking and he searches the area until he sees that it's Yoongi again. Of, course it is. He focuses back on his notebook, hoping not to meet eyes because his cheeks are already starting to heat up and it'll be way too awkward and embarrassing if he comes over.
"Hey," Jimin says, but Taehyung’s smiling at his laptop. "Hey!"
It takes him waving his hands in front of Taehyung's face for him to take out his earbuds and finally look over, "What?"
"Let's go."
"Five minutes," he replies, then pops back in his earbuds and is back to his laptop screen. They don't have five minutes. Yoongi is taking more pictures and he's getting closer and- Jimin kicks Taehyung under the table, getting a response more quickly this time.
"You're not even studying, you're just watching video games videos or viral stuff or something. Let's go."
"This one video only has four more minutes. Four minutes, okay? After that, we'll go." Then, Taehyung plugs back in his earbuds before Jimin can even reply.
"You're an awful friend," he glares. There's a click very close to him and he turns to see Yoongi right at the head of the table, staring at the back of his camera.
"Did you take a picture of me?" Jimin says.
Yoongi hums, "You look angry, Jimin-ie." He lets the camera hang around his neck, giving a smirk, and just like that Jimin's blushing again. "What are you doing here? It's like a month into the semester."
"Studying," he mumbles.
Yoongi chuckles, "Very hard, I see." Well, Jimin's laptop is closed and his notebook has random drawings in it, while Taehyung's chuckling at something on his screen.
"Yeah. Well. Why are you taking pictures?" Good comeback Jimin-ie.
"Maybe, I like doing it?" Yoongi says, then shrugs. "It's a hobby, really, but sometimes I get asked or I volunteer to take pictures for groups or the school newspaper."
Jimin blinks, "So, you're a photography major?"
"No, why would I be a photography major?" The way he says it sounds less sarcastic and more bitter. And at that moment Taehyung decides to laugh, really more like a giggle, and it catches Yoongi's attention. He glances over at his screen and a smirk re-appears on his face. "I am the dance clubs personal photographer, though. Like, I took all the ones that he's looking at."
It takes a couple seconds, but Taehyung notices Yoongi staring at his screen. He tears his earbuds out and gives the large embarrassed smile he always gives when he's gotten caught, while Yoongi just gives him this highly amused smile-smirk back, tilting his head to the side. Jimin would be embarrassed for Taehyung, but this is what he gets for keeping them there.
"What are you doing here?" Taehyung manages.
"Pictures," Yoongi replies, holding up the camera. "And I've got to take some of the computer lab, so study hard kids. I'll see you Saturday."
"Tuesday." Jimin corrects.
"What?" His confusion, quickly turns into amusement. "Did you want to meet up, is this you asking me on a date?"
"No," Jimin sputters and it only makes Yoongi laugh. "You're in my art history class."
"I'm in your art history class?" Yoongi repeats, then stares off like he's trying to remember. And Jimin's worried he'll tease him about when he stopped in front of his desk, but he just shrugs. "I don't really pay attention. Sorry." Partially he's relieved, partially he's upset, they've been in class together for a month now. But, Yoongi didn't even notice, they just say their goodbyes and he leaves. Jimin frowns after him.
Or that's until Taehyung kicks his shin and he frowns over at him. "What?" he whines. Taehyung stares at him, lips pursed in annoyance. "Well, you could have seen him if you had taken a second to stop salivating over dance team pictures."
"I wasn't-" Taehyung blushes, then slams his laptop shut. "Weren't we going?"
---
It's Thursday afternoon and Taehyung and Jimin are both laying on their beds in silence because neither of them have any more classes, neither of them have anywhere to go, and neither of them can come up with anything to do. It's been brought up about four times in an hour. Someone saying we should do something, usually Jimin, and someone agreeing, usually Taehyung, and no one offering something to do. So, Jimin's reading comics on his laptop and Taehyung's probably staring longingly at Hoseok on his which basically amounts to them being the most boring college students on a Thursday afternoon.
When Jimin's phone rings, he answers it without really looking at the phone. "Hello?"
"I'm bored."
Jimin blinks, "No 'Hello hyung' 'How have you been hyung?' 'I miss you hyung.'"
"Hello, how have you been?"
Jimin glares at the phone like Jungkook can see it, which apparently he can because he's laughing. "I'll hang up on you."
"C'mon, I'm bored," Jungkook says, then a beat later. "Hyung."
"I'm hanging up on you." But, before he can, the phone is taken from his grip by Taehyung who tells Jungkook he can come over and hang out with them. He gives exact directions on how to get here by bus and then ends the call, throwing it at Jimin's side when it's over.
It takes about an hour, but Jungkook texts them (Taehyung this time) and tells him he's outside their dorm. Jimin says they should just leave him at the door, but Taehyung gives him a look and they both end up going down to greet a smiling Jungkook. And despite Jimin's minor annoyances, he is happy to see him.
They catch up in the small journey they take back to Jimin and Taehyung's room. It's only been a month since they haven't been together, but it's a little weird that they don't see each other everyday like they did in high school. It's also very strange to hear Jungkook mention teachers and classmates and how the school is going while Jimin and Taehyung are no longer there. He's glad to be in college and he doesn't miss high school in the slightest, but nostalgia still hits him that his high school years are over.
When they get to the room, Taehyung opens up the door with a 'tadah' like it's something extravagant. Jungkook does look around, wide-eyed more in a curious way rather than amazed. "This...isn't bad."
"Colleges aren't like what you see in dramas," Jimin replies, then flops down on his bed. "You'll be getting this next year too."
"Actually," Jungkook grins, walking over to sit on Taehyung's bed. "Maybe exactly since I might come here next year."
"Really?" Taehyung says, poking at his stomach, grinning when Jungkook nods.
"Well, you'll have two hyungs that can help you out next year." All Jimin is expecting is a 'thank you' or some type of 'that'd be great,' instead Jungkook blinks at him, faking confusion. "Brat."
Jungkook chuckles, "No, but really that'd be helpful, hyung." He smiles, for once with no sarcasm. "Would it be okay if I came with you guys to clubs or events? To see what it's like here."
Jimin shrugs, then nods over to Taehyung. "You'll need to talk to Taehyung about that; he's gone to a lot more clubs than me." After those first two weeks when Tahyung took him to so many clubs, the only one he really stuck with was dance. On the other hand, Taehyung goes to a club every weekend, Friday, and Wednesday. Jimin doesn't even remember all of them.
So, Taehyung talks about the many clubs he's either in or visited. He explains which ones are interesting and friendly and which ones are dull and he'll never go back to again. Even mentions the choir, which Jimin didn't know he was in, and says that Jungkook would especially like it and they need a voice like his. All the while, Jungkook's listening happily, smile on his face. It's weird. Jungkook doesn't do things like smile for elongated amounts of time. As much as he wants to believe it's because Jungkook had wanted to see them and missed them so much he could barely function, this amount of smiling is a bit over the top for that.
"What's got you so happy?" Jimin interrupts.
It's confirmed when Jungkook freezes and makes sure his smile falls. "What do you mean? I'm not allowed to be happy?"
"That's not what I said," Jimin frowns.
"Oh!" Taehyung starts bouncing on his bed, moving Jungkook along with him, "You've got a crush, haven't you?"
Jimin really doesn't know how Taehyung jumped to that, but despite Jungkook's denial and his eye roll, he's blushing.
"Does Jungkook-ie have a crush?" Jimin says, grinning.
"No, I'm just happy to see you!"
"Definitely hiding something," Taehyung catches Jimin's eye and they're both thinking the same thing. It takes a second for Jungkook to catch up, but by then he's already pinned down to the bed, struggling.
"Who is it?" Jimin says.
"Yeah, who is it," Taehyung sing songs.
There's a few more moments of Jungkook struggling, but he's barely a match for Jimin alone. He glares, then sighs, "I just saw a guy on the bus and we talked for a bit and we got off at the stop together and walked for a while and he's nice and he goes here and that's it." As soon as their grip slackens, Jungkook pushes them both off and jumps off the bed.
"What was his name," Jimin asks, then laughs when Jungkook looks confused, "You don't know his name?"
"We talked for five minutes."
"That's enough time to ask for a name," Jimin replies.
"Wait so he goes here?" Taehyung says.
"Yeah, he's a double major. Statistics and Music."
Jimin blinks, "you find all that out and not a name?" And Jungkook looks like he's about to punch him.
"So, why don't we go find him?" Taehyung asks. They both pause, then stare at him.
"There are fifteen thousand students here." Jimin says and that just earns him a shrug. "And we don't have a name." Jungkook groans.
"We can do it."
Jungkook gives an exasperated sigh then plops down on Jimin's bed, "Five minute conversation."
"Enough to make you go all loopy," Jimin grins, flinching back when Jungkook fakes throwing a pillow and hitting his elbow against the wall. They both laugh at him and he glares at Taehyung. "Did you tell him about the dance team?" Jimin smiles innocently when Taehyung's head snaps up.
His cheeks are tinged slightly pink, "What about the dance team?"
"Hyung, you're in the dance club?" Jungkook asks. "Really?"
"Hey, shut up. I like dancing."
"That's not why you joined though," Jimin says, grinning when Taehyung glares at him. "Right?"
"Oh? Taehyung likes someone in the club," Jungkook has always been awfully good at putting things together. Especially if you don't want him to. "Who? Can I see him? Can I meet him?"
"You can't," Taehyung stutters. "I don't really know him that well."
"Know who? Who?" Jungkook sighs loudly when Taehyung just goes back to picking at his covers. He turns to Jimin, "Who, hyung?"
Jimin glares at him, "You only use hyung when you need me."
"It's this hyung, Hoseok-hyung." Despite Taehyung's very, very quiet voice as he says it Jimin's proud of him. It's his first time admitting it.
Jungkook stares at him, thinking he's going to continue then frowning when he doesn't. "What does he look like? Is he a nice person? Can you tell me anything?"
"At least he has a name." This time Jungkook really does hit him with a pillow.
---
Jungkook doesn't stay that long. It takes him an hour to get here, he's got school tomorrow, plus his mother's very fussy about him so he leaves before they can go explore the college even a little bit. It ends up back exactly to how it was before, them both chilling out on their laptop in silence. Or, they last like that for a while until Taehyung gets a text and turns towards Jimin.
"So," Taehyung begins, waiting for Jimin to look up at him. "Are you hungry?"
He looks up and stares at him, trying to figure out why he's smiling so large. "Yes." He replies even though nothing starts out like that without more to come that he probably doesn't want to hear.
"Do you want to go to the dining hall?"
"Sure?"
"So," Taehyung says again, "get dressed and we'll leave to meet Hoseok-hyung there."
"No."
Taehyung pouts, "Why?"
Jimin only shakes his head and looks back at his laptop, he's not dealing with Taehyung and Hoseok alone. Not with Taehyung's adoring eyes and constant smiling and- his hunger is already leaving him.
"C'mon." Taehyung whines, "Please?" Jimin shakes his head again. "Please? Yoongi-hyung and Namjoon-hyung will be there too and I don't want to be the only freshman."
Jimin looks back up, sighing at the large begging eyes and pout. "Fine." That brings Taehyung back to his happy large smile in a millisecond and he shakes at Jimin's legs excitedly before standing up and heading to the mirror. He's preening and Jimin regrets everything.

It only took about three direct conversations (and one embarrassing meeting which Yoongi doesn't remember so it technically didn't happen) for Yoongi to finally wave to Jimin as he walked into class. Not like it's an accomplishment. It's just nice to know that Yoongi can be pleasant sometimes, even if he's not smiling when he greets him, but Jimin has learned that Yoongi has a tendency not to smile unless it's at someone else's expense. Jimin slides in to the desk next to him, pretty sure, but not entirely, that no one sits in this seat. Though, Yoongi is giving him an odd look.
"What?"
"You're messing with the flow of the class," Yoongi replies.
"No one sits here!"
"What if I wanted to sit alone?"
"I can move," Jimin says, but he really doesn't make any effort too.
Yoongi snorts, "No, it's okay. The guy who sat there hasn't come since the first week. Probably dropped it like most people do." That's true. Their class is actually really small compared to Jimin's other classes. People started disappearing after week one and currently there are about twelve people left. It's boring, the teacher monotonous, and it's not a very useful class for most majors so it's understandable.
"I'm surprised you didn't drop it, but then I figured dance majors might have to take art history."
Jimin blinks, "I'm not a dance major. Or not a declared one."
"Are you going to declare it, then?" Yoongi smiles, "It's something you have to do in order for it to be your major you know."
"You have to try out to be accepted into the program," Jimin frowns.
"You'd make it."
"How do you know?" Yoongi shrugs and it's a wonder how he even makes that annoying. "Besides, I'm not sure, anyway."
"You like dancing so be a dance major."
Jimin huffs, "You like photography so why aren't you a photography major?" He regrets it as soon as he says it. It's only for a second, but Yoongi's smile seems forced and he loses that spark, before he manages to hide it.
"Touche," he replies, then turns back to the front of the class. He didn't mean to do that, not when Yoongi was actually having a conversation with him more than only making fun of him.
"Uh, are you-" Jimin feels bad and he stutters which just makes Yoongi raise an eyebrow at him and his face heats and he doesn't even know how to word what he was asking. "Do you like art?" That's what manages to come out and Yoongi is still looking at him like he's weird.
"Sure?"
"Cause you're into photography and in art history."
"I had to take art history so I could be in the second level of photography or some bullshit like that."
"Oh, so you are in photography."
"Yes." In one word, Jimin can already tell that Yoongi's bristling and he decides to stop asking questions. He's content to wait for the professor in quiet or let Yoongi start back up a conversation if he wants. Except his stomach grumbles and Yoongi chuckles and his face is heating up again.
"Did you want to get something to eat after class?" Yoongi suggests, not really turning towards Jimin to ask. And Yoongi is sarcastic and mean and can barely hold up a conversation if it's not with Hoseok or Namjoon, but-
"Yeah." He is hungry and he doesn't really feel like eating alone. So. "Where?"
Yoongi blinks, then turns, "Where do you think? We're going to the dining hall, you little shit. Don't freshman have like a forced meal plan? Shouldn't you be trying to get rid of those. Maybe you should swipe for me." Jimin tries to pout at him, but it ends up with Yoongi staring at him blankly and Jimin feeling embarrassed he did that. He's really glad when the professor comes in.
(It was an awful idea because Yoongi forgot his card at home and so Jimin does have to swipe for him. He also ends up spilling his water all over the table, Yoongi laughing as everyone stares.
But, it's also the first time Jimin's actually seen Yoongi laugh.)
---
"Did you know that last year the dance club almost went the nationals?"
"Really?" Jimin replies, more focused on the bubble shooter game on his phone. It's way more interesting than waiting around. Jimin was put in the last group of the dance team when they were split up into groups. Yukwon had told them that they were being hired to perform for something at the end of the semester and, since they were larger this year, they'd be split into three groups. So, Hoseok is teaching the first third of the club their part in front of Jimin and outside in the hall Yukwon is teaching another third their part. Jimin's third, which also includes Taehyung next to him, is sprinkled randomly throughout the studio waiting. Apparently there's no other practice space. Yukwon had said there was something lucky about being in the third group, but Jimin doesn't feel that as it's been about thirty minutes now of them waiting their turn. And Taehyung's in his group, which usually would hardly be a bad thing, but he's decided to fill their waiting time by informing Jimin about the many, many random facts about the club.
"And, did you know, last year, they raised about ten thousand by getting hired to do random gigs."
"Wow," Jimin sighs. He's been staring at his phone for thirty minutes, he would hope Taehyung would get the message at some point.
"They also opened up for a concert last year."
"Taehyung," Jimin says, then huffs as he loses the level. He turns to face Taehyung, who's just looking at him curiously. "I don't really care."
Taehyung frowns. "Don't you think it's pretty interesting though? They're one of the most successful clubs in the school."
"Alright. Do you have any information about further back achievements. Like, I don't know, from more than last years team?" Jimin asks.
Taehyung pauses, then looks up at the ceiling, thinking. "I don't think there was any."
"Really?" Jimin scoffs. Or maybe the only history of the club you cared about was last years is what Jimin really wants to say because it might get Taehyung to shut up, but Taehyung's never been good with direct confrontations about his crushes. Taehyung nods in reply and Jimin rolls his eyes, turning to Hoseok and his group. They're running through the whole routine and he hopes that means they'll be done soon.
"Oh, but did you know Hoseok-hyung got the solo for the concert last year?" Really, really hopes that means they'll be done soon. "He was the only freshman too."
"That's great, Taehyung. He's great."
"Yeah, he's good, right? Did you know he's got a fanclub in his high school?"
Jimin about to ask him if he joined it, but then he sees that Hoseok's clearing the people out as they're finished with the dance. When he turns to look at Taehyung to tell him, he's facing Jimin and smiling, but not at him. It's one of his smiles where he's in his head thinking, halfway there and halfway in the real world. It's impossible to reach him at this point. He's hopeless.
"It was called the J-hope fanclub or something."
"Hey! How did you hear about that?" It's Hoseok, and they both turn to see him walking towards them, smiling wide. "Did Yoongi-hyung tell you?"
"It popped up on Facebook." Taehyung manages. And Jimin has to give him credit for only freezing up for five seconds.
"Oh? You should've added me," he says, then point out to the center of the studio where people are circling up. "Go head out there, Hyuna's going to be teaching you." Luckily, Hoseok goes right over to Namjoon because Jimin has to practically pull Taehyung off the floor.
"Did you know," Jimin starts and Taehyung's face when he turns to him is confused and partially still in shock. It's so hard not to laugh. "That you're blushing?" Before the incoherent sputtering and denials and hitting, Jimin rushes off to join the group.
---
The thing is Jimin actually really likes Hoseok. He's really funny, nice to everyone, and very easy going. It's practically impossible not to like him, especially when he's willing to help anyone with anything he's able to do. This includes volunteering to help Jimin and Taehyung out with calculus when Jimin had complained about it once.
And if Taehyung wasn't so grossly annoyingly in love, yet unable to face it, Jimin would try to help him out.
---
There's this new coffee place Taehyung has heard about which translates to Taehyung dragging Jimin to go check it out. It's not that far away, located between the Art and Music buildings, which Jimin thinks makes for some type of joke. The outside sign reads 'Coffee Shop,' there's a few tables and chairs outside for the the few people who wanted to brave the weather as it was starting to get colder, and it's painted a nice warm color. The daily special, which Taehyung reads out loud, is a Caramel Latte that Taehyung claims is fate because that's Jimin's favorite drink. (Really, fate would be them heading back to the dorm because Jimin's favorite drink is actually a frapuccino, but it's too cold for that.)
Inside there's a stage and a mic, perfect for the music students, and a bustle of college people that he would expect for a coffee shop located on campus. Taehyung hops right into line, then stares up at the choices, eyes scanning and mouth open. There's not that many people in line and Jimin has to make his way around Taehyung to order since Taehyung is horrible at deciding and he's going to hold the entire line up. He just orders a Vanilla latte because it's easiest and Taehyung finally chooses some weird convocation of hot chocolate that Jimin glares at him for.
"We could have gotten hot chocolate at the dining hall," Jimin whines, "for free."
"Yeah, but not peppermint caramel," Taehyung grins. And Jimin's going to ask if that really matters when the extra flavoring costs way too much extra when he hears the barista yell out for Yoongi. He turns to see that it is that Yoongi who goes to pick it up and notices him looking over, waving.
"Hyung!" Taehyung calls which Jimin mentally hits him for because now Yoongi's coming over. There's also someone behind him, tall, unfamiliar, talking to Yoongi about something that has him smile. For some reason, Jimin feels slightly annoyed.
"I didn't take you for coffee drinkers," Yoongi says.
"Taehyung wanted to come," Jimin mumbles.
"Namjoon-hyung mentioned it was really good," Taehyung adds.
"Oh? Well, he always comes here so-"
"You always come here too," the other guy sighs. "In fact, we're supposed to be working on a track so you can perform here again."
"You sing?" Jimin blinks because he honestly wasn't expecting that.
"Don't look so shocked, Jimin-ah," Yoongi grins. "It's a rap track."
The other guy looks over at Yoongi, then smiles back over at Jimin. "He actually can't sing at all, I'm Hyosang by the way. You should come watch us perform some time, Hoseok and Namjoon are in it too."
"Really," Taehyung says. And of course that grabs his attention. A second later, a barista calls out Jimin's name and order and he quickly goes over to get it. When he gets back, Yoongi is grinning at him, making Jimin's stomach flop and he can't look at him.
"A vanilla latte," Yoongi says, "You're boring Jimin."
Hyosang snorts, "You got a plain espresso." And the glare Yoongi shots him makes Jimin chuckle, then he sips at his drink, staring off out the window, when Yoongi turns to him.
"We should go actually," Hyosang says, looking over at Yoongi. "Hopefully Namjoon will be there at the studio." Then, he gives them both one last smile before turning to leave, Yoongi following, saying his farewells as well. And right after, Taehyung's name and Caramel whatever hot chocolate is called.
"Yoongi-hyung's really funny," Taehyung says, grinning over at him.
He glares back, "Go get your drink and let's go."
---
On Wednesdays, Jimin and Taehyung actually get breakfast together because Jimin has his ten o'clock class and always has to make sure Taehyung's awake for his ten thirty one. This usually involves Jimin guiding Taehyung around everywhere so he doesn't end up knocking into something, a table, a chair, maybe even a closed door. Taehyung is not a morning person. Except, this Wednesday he is. He doesn't wake up before Jimin, that would be practically impossible, but he doesn't have to be dragged out of bed and yelled at to wake up. There's less stumbling and he manages to make it through the get ready process by himself, even if he might have put his shirt on backwards. The walk to the dining hall even has Taehyung giving lively reactions back instead of him bundling himself up in a coat and stumbling alongside Jimin as he talks at him. He's awake. And bubbly. Really bubbly.
"Taehyung," Jimin groans. He greeted all the cafeteria workers with bright smiles and buzzed about everywhere when he was choosing out what to eat. Now that they've sat down, he's even smiling as he eats his food.
Too bubbly.
It's making Jimin lose his appetite.
"What?" He's not smiling now, instead looking generally confused.
"Stop doing that." Taehyung just gives him the same look and Jimin sighs. "What are you thinking about?"
"Well." And as he starts, he already has this huge grin on his face which is never good, but there's a nervous glint in his eye and that's even worse. "I was thinking-what if you helped me out with Hoseok-hyung."
Jimin snorts, "What?"
"To get me and Hoseok-hyung together since I'm really bad at this and it would be great if you helped me." He gets slower and quieter as the sentence progresses until he's stopped and is looking down at his food, red faced. Jimin thinks about teasing him, but he's already shrunken so much inward from just asking that he laughs.
"Sure," Jimin grins, "I am the master of love." Taehyung stares at him, completely blank-faced. Jimin wiggles his eyebrows at him and in less than a second, Taehyung manages to launch a piece of egg at his face.
"That's not a good way to treat a person helping you out!" But, Taehyung simply shrugs and goes back to grinning as he eats his food.
---
There is no real plan that Taehyung gives him or Jimin comes up with other than 'always try and put Taehyung and Hoseok together, preferably alone.' It's actually quite hard because Hoseok loves doing things in groups and inviting them places in groups and hanging out in groups. Jimin regrets agreeing to help.
"Can you, like," Taehyung starts, then bites at his lip. They're both supposed to meet Hoseok in thirty minutes to go and study Calculus and Jimin is almost certain about what Taehyung's going to ask him.
"What?"
"Can you not come?" He looks really torn up about saying it and Jimin was going to whine about needing the help and he didn't agree to this, but he really thinks this might be the only chance they'll be alone for a while.
He sighs, "Fine, but one time okay." And Taehyung nods, grinning happily, then grabs his bag and is out the door. He quickly texts Hoseok a "I can't make it, I've got an essay" then flops down on his bed. The thing is he really needs help because he sucks at trigonometry and they're doing that plus derivatives and why is he such a nice person?
He thumbs through his contacts and goes over the few people he knows in his class, but they understand as much as him since his professor kind of sucks. He ends up on Yoongi and calls before he even thinks its through. Really, Jimin's only heard of Yoongi taking art classes and it's quite easy to skip taking calculus. He's about to hang up and call Namjoon, the statistics major, when Yoongi answers.
"Yes?" He answers annoyed, but he always answers annoyed.
"Did you take calculus?" Jimin doesn't know why he feels so embarrassed asking, but his cheeks are burning and it's taking way too long for Yoongi to reply back.
"Yes?"
"Can you," Jimin starts, "possibly help me?"
There's a longer pause and Jimin senses the strong likelihood of Yoongi just saying no and hanging up. "Why would you ask me about help with math? I got away from math two years ago, why are you bringing it back to my life? Don't you usually study with Hoseok?"
"I can't meet up with him today." Jimin hopes he doesn't have ask for a reason because he really can't think of one. Instead, Yoongi sighs, overly loud and dramatic. "Please hyung? I really need help. Please?"
Yoongi sighs again, "Fine. But, you owe me."
"Sure," Jimin grins.
Yoongi mumbles something unintelligible, then "Come to the campus center whenever. I'll be here for a while."
"Alright, hyung. Thank you." And Yoongi hangs up muttering about how he hates math and Jimin better be thankful.
(Which he's not because Yoongi is awful at calculus and Jimin ends up reviewing more with him then learning since Yoongi needs to be "refreshed." It's kind of too hilarious for Jimin to be annoyed because Yoongi keeps arguing with the answer key.)
---
It's almost midterms, or that's how Hoseok convinces Taehyung and Jimin both to come out to the basketball court when it's getting colder each day. He tells them that next week they'll be studying too hard, then after that it'll be too cold so this is their last chance. Jimin really wasn't sold by that logic, but Taehyung is and, as always, forces Jimin to come along. It's supposed to be three vs three since Namjoon ends up inviting his friend Seokjin to even out the teams. And Jimin quickly talks them into making him the one to select the teams, claiming he's amazing at choosing good even-matched teams. (Taehyung, that idiot, looks at him oddly when he asks for support and he thinks about giving up.) So, he picks Yoongi first because in his mind he'll have Yoongi and Namjoon on his team, the other will be Hoseok, Taehyung, and Seokjin and this will all work out.
Yoongi shrugs, then asks "Why am I on your team Jiminie?" He's teasing; he still walks over to Jimin's side and ruffles at his hair, except, he's staring at Jimin, seemingly waiting for an answer that Jimin doesn't have. He could have picked Namjoon first, or picked Seokjin instead, but he didn't. He really doesn't know why he didn't considering Yoongi is always making fun of him.
"Yeah, shouldn't we even the height out." Hoseok says, laughing when Yoongi gives him the finger.
"You know what," Yoongi pulls Jimin into a side hug, which surprises him enough to almost drop the basketball. "It doesn't matter; this teams better."
"Really?" Namjoon smirks. "Do you want to do two versus four, then?"
"Sure," Yoongi smiles. And Jimin was just about to say no because, as much pride as he has, in basketball height is definitely the advantage and. Well. Yoongi and Jimin versus four people taller than them is not even.
"Call." Hoseok says, "You even get to start." This doesn't seem like it'll end up well, but Yoongi's pulling him to there side of the court and assuring him he's good and was one of the best in his high school.
This ends up working in their favor, at least a little bit. Jimin's better than Namjoon and Seokjin while Yoongi is able to hold his own against Taehyung or Hoseok. In the end, it's still two against four and they end up losing by about twenty points. Jimin expects Yoongi to be upset, he sighing as he stares at the other side of the court is celebrating, but when he looks over at Jimin he smiles, then comes to sling an arm around Jimin's neck, before yelling over to the others that he's hungry and tired and let's just go eat.
---
Since Hoseok always invites them to do things in groups, Taeyung takes the initiative to ask Hoseok somewhere. Sort of. He asks Hoseok to go shopping, but says Jimin is coming too, which really means he's going to ask Jimin to come up with some reason to ditch. It would have worked out, if Hoseok hadn't said he'll bring Yoongi as well. Or, apparently, it still will.
("Can you ask Yoongi-hyung not to come?" Taehyung asks.
"Why me?" Jimin frowns because this is Taehyung's fault, he could have asked him to go somewhere alone.
"You know him better than me."
"Not really." The look Taehyung gives him is complete annoyance and 'really now' that Jimin sighs and agrees. It saves him from a pointless argument because he's probably going to end up doing it anyway. )
So, Jimin ends up looking for Yoongi in a whole bunch of places that he knows on any other day Yoongi would be (Photography room, Student Center, Coffee Shop), then ends up calling Namjoon, who tells him that Yoongi was in the dance studio an hour ago and he's probably been too lazy to move. Namjoon’s right. Jimin opens the door to the dance studio and Yoongi’s sitting at the opposite wall, staring at the back of his camera. It takes a second, but he glances up, nods, then is back to whatever he was doing. Jimin, however, freezes and why was he here again? Oh right, the Taehyung thing. What is he even supposed to say? Why did he agree to do this?
“I can leave if you want to practice alone.” Yoongi says without looking up.
“No, that’s okay.” Jimin is stuttering and that makes Yoongi look at him, eyes focused on him. “I needed to talk to you anyway.” But, Jimin's brain is still trying to think of exactly what to say, not giving too much away, yet not saying too little as to have Yoongi ask questions.
“Are you going to tell me?” Yoongi snorts after a minute of Jimin trying to think up in his head what to ask.
“Did Hoseok already ask you about, um, tomorrow? With me and Taehyung?"
"Yeah?"
"Well, can you, um, not...go?" Yoongi's eyes are piercing and Jimin feels bad and- "Like, I'm not going either. Taehyung asked me. And asked me to ask you. It's not-" that I don't like you but, Jimin brain catches up and he realizes he should probably stop.
Yoongi raises an eyebrow at him, then shrugs. "Alright."
"Yeah," Jimin nods. "Yeah, goo-"
"I won't get in Taehyung's way."
Jimin sputters, "What? That's not-"
"I can tell when someone has a crush," Yoongi says, and the smirk he gives has Jimin focus on the ground and the grooves on the wood. "It's really not that hard."
"Can you," Jimin stutters, "Can you not tell Hoseok-hyung?"
"I'm not an asshole Jimin." When Jimin's head snaps up, because he's that's not what he meant, he just figured Yoongi is a person less for the annoying 'have them figure it out themselves' and more of a 'just tell them' type of person, Yoongi's staring at the back of his camera again.
"What are you doing?"
"They're photos for my photography midterm. Actually-" Yoongi grins up at him, which never is a good thing. "Since you owe me, you get to be a model too."
Jimin blinks, "What?"
"I picked movement as a theme, you're a dancer, it works out." Yoongi shrugs, "Hoseok's helping too."
"Um. Alright?"
"It wasn't a request, you owe me remember? In fact, you owe me again for today."
"Hyung," Jimin whines, frowning when Yoongi laughs at him.
"Are you hungry? Let's go eat, yeah?" Yoongi says, then puts his camera around his neck and stands up. He walks over towards the door, ruffling Jimin's hair on his way out.
---
It's now finally hit Jimin that midterms are right around the corner. All the teachers are prepping them, giving them study lists and his friends are declining plans with 'oh i need to study.' Jimin's never been one to freak out about tests, he's pretty good at keeping up with classwork and managing to do at least decently, but Taehyung has always annoyingly been able to approach tests flippantly and do well. And Jimin thinks he's changing when Taehyung is the one to ask him to go to the library and help him study. Maybe, since it's college he's buckling down and taking it seriously.
No.
Taehyung leads him over to this section in the library where Namjoon, Yoongi, Hyosang, Seokjin, and Hoseok ends up being. So, as Taehyung takes his seat on Hoseok's right, Jimin sighs and ends up sitting down next to Namjoon. He's the one that can help him out the most since Jimin needs the most help with Math and English which is Namjoon's area of expertise. He also might be across from Yoongi, not like it matters since he's staring intently at his laptop and hasn't looked up once. Not that that matters either. Yeah.
Everyone studies in quiet, maybe someone asking a question or someone asking for an explanation here and there, but mainly it's quiet. It's not unnerving or awkward, Jimin just can't study like this. He has to plug in his headphones so at least he has music as he tries to outline his art history essay. The thing about that is he doesn't hear anything else going on. It wouldn't be a real problem until he gets kick hard enough in the shin that he jumps. When he takes off his headphones, Namjoon is laughing next to him and Yoongi is staring at him.
"That hurt," Jimin whines.
"Then don't have your music on so loud/ I need help with the art history essay." Yoongi says, then taps the seat next to him. Jimin sighs, but journeys over to other side to help Yoongi with an essay he barely understands. Doesn't understand at all really. He still tries to help out though and lists out a bunch of stuff they did learn in class and is in the textbook that somehow relates to the question or he thinks could possibly answer the question. In his mind, he thinks it all fits together pretty nicely and he's being a bit helpful, but when he looks up Yoongi is staring at him, mouth twitching up, and Jimin freezes.
"What the fuck are you even saying?" Yoongi says, but there's no anger or heat. No sarcasm either which is a new one. "Do you even know what you're saying?"
Jimin blushes and now Yoongi's full out smiling. "No. Not really."
Yoongi laughs, "Eh, what if I had copied everything you said and got a bad grade? Go study over there and help me some other time."
"Why are you making him study for you?" Seokjin asks. He's sitting next to Namjoon on the other side and mostly been talking about this Literature essay with Hyosang.
"Not for me," Yoongi says, "He has to study anyway so-"
"Haven't you taken art history before?" Hyosang has his head in his hands, smiling over. Yoongi's head snaps over and he glares, but Hyosang only tilts his head and smiles wider, blinking innoncently.
Jimin grins over at Yoongi, "Then, you should be helping me, hyung."
"I took it back in high school, yeah." He continues glaring at Hyosang for a few more seconds, before turning it to Jimin. "Do you think I remember that far back?"
"Ah," Jimin nods, then grins, "Well, you don't even remember calculus so-"
"Excuse me," Yoongi flicks him with his pencil when he laughs. "I was doing you a favor, you little shit."
"Alright hyung, it's okay to suffer some memory loss as you get older," Jimin grins and he scoots his chair away from the impending flick, but instead Yoongi kicks at Hyosang, who's laughing hard enough that Seokjin's shooting him a glare.
---
At the next dance practice, Jimin finally learns the lucky thing about Jimin's third: they're the last group to go and they get to end it. It's supposed to end with someone flipping over a person in the front and it was supposed to end with some Junior doing it. What happens instead is Jimin was picked to do it, Yukwon had pulled him aside and said Hoseok had seen him practicing flips and told Yukwon he was really good. So, under a general consensus of the leaders, Jimin's doing it. He doesn't know whether to be thankful or not, truthfully his insides feel like they're already twisting and the performance is two months away.
Other than that, they go over the dance again this meeting, as well as explanations about performance being for a semi-popular local artist that's coming to do a concert at their school. It's a rather quick meeting because this time, Yukwon's gotten permission to use one of the other dance rooms so they can all practice at the same time. Plus, the dance is pretty okay, not easy, but something Jimin can get after a few more run throughs.
Jimin has to stay after along with a couple other people that have specific point moments in the dance to go over their parts. Luckily, Hoseok is assigned to teach him and they get their own room since it has the mats in the supply closet. And since Hoseok is staying (Jimin wants to act like it's a little bit for him too) Taehyung ends up staying to watch too. Yoongi as well, but he's taking pictures in the background for the project.
It starts off with Hoseok explaining what's supposed to happen: half the group will bow like the performance is done and then Jimin breaks through the other half and gives one last flip. Easy. In theory. But, they can't test it out right now instead Hoseok tells him to practice his flipping because he may be good but he doesn't trust him to flip over a person safely right now.
They maybe make it through about twenty minutes of actual practicing before it evolves in them just dancing for fun. Hoseok ends up doing random, silly dance moves to try and make them laugh. Jimin tries showing off some of his tumbling skills, Taehyung gets up and tries stuff too. Stuff since it's not really dancing. All the while, Yoongi is taking random pictures.
"Are you even doing your project anymore, hyung," Hoseok laughs when Yoongi ends up taking a random picture of Taehyung doing a funny face.
"Facial movements are movements," Yoongi replies, then snaps a picture as Hoseok walks over.
Jimin comes over, looking over Yoongi's shoulder to look at the camera, but Yoongi moves it out of his sight. "Can we see?"
"We're never allowed to see them until he's done with them," Hoseok says, then drapes an arm around Yoongi's shoulder. "But, since right now it's three versus one. And he has an expensive camera and an even more precious project inside it-"
"Are you threatening me?" Yoongi glares, shaking off Hoseok's arm.
"Not if you just give it to us first," Hoseok says, extending his hand. But, Yoongi just glares at that and him, before stepping away.
"C'mon, hyung," Jimin says, and Yoongi frowns at him. "Please." He tries pouting and holds out his hand, smiling when it works as Yoongi huffs and removes the camera from around his neck.
"I'm the only one that can touch it," Yoongi sounds like he's growling and so upset, but he's slightly smiling as they all crowd around as Yoongi begins cycling through the pictures he's taken. The recent ones are all random: Taehyung making weird faces, Hoseok's arm dance, Taehyung smiling at him, all three of them laughing. Then it's back to when they were actually practicing with Hoseok in the corner dancing on his own, Taehyung staring at them (and Jimin almost points out how sickeningly in love he looks), Jimin doing a flip, another flip, fixing his hair, fanning out his shirt, Hoseok doing this spin thing, Jimin listening to Hoseok explain stuff.
"There's like three pictures of Jimin to every one of me," Hoseok frowns at Yoongi, though he seems more like he's trying to suppress a laugh.
"Well obviously, he was doing flips and shit." Then, the camera cycles through the actual dance practice with groups shots of each particular third, some pictures of Namjoon, some pictures of Namjoon glaring at him, a few of Taehyung, a lot of Hoseok teaching, then Hoseok dancing, a lot more of Jimin dancing.
"I bet it's legitimately three to one, hyung." Hoseok is grinning at Yoongi, before Yoongi pushes him out of the circle. "Hey!"
"It's cause he's the better dancer," Yoongi snaps.
"Really?" Jimin grins. The look Yoongi gives him would have made him sputter and shy away before, but now it just makes him grin harder.
"Don't grow a big head Jimin-ah." Jimin continues to grin even as Yoongi flicks at his forehead. Then, Hoseok jumps onto his back, throwing him forward a bit out of surprise
"I don't accept this." He yells, "Let's battle Jimin."
"Eh. No." Jimin says, laughing when Hoseok slaps him on the shoulder.
"What is ‘eh. no’? We'll see who's better." He tries to get off, but Jimin locks his arms around his legs. "What are you doing? Let me go, we've got to fight this out." But, Jimin starts to carry him around the room, sometimes running to scare him, while Taehyung laughs so hard he falls to the floor. Even Yoongi's smiling as he takes random pictures, making sure to get an amazing picture of Hoseok falling off Jimin's back when he stops suddenly.
---
Yoongi has taken to wearing his camera everywhere now. He had worn it a lot before, but now Jimin literally doesn't see him without it. It's not like he's spending every moment on the project, he even told Jimin it's honestly not that hard, but that Yoongi really loves photography even if he won’t say it outright. He takes pictures of everything, from the grass to the trees changing color to random ones of people walking. Even takes pictures of food sometimes which Namjoon laughs at him for and calls him such a hipster.
With the camera around his neck he seems generally happier, even if he gets frustrated over a picture not coming out right. Even if he complains that all of yesterdays photos are void because of something that went wrong with his camera. Even if he says he hates photography. He talks about it at Jimin a lot without Jimin needing to ask. Sometimes, after taking a good photo he even comes over to show it off to him. He seems so lively.
"Do you like this one or this one?" They're studying again, all of them, but Yoongi nudged Jimin to look down at his camera then flipped between two different photos. They look exactly the same. Like, exactly. Jimin stares at them for enough time that he's memorized everything about them.
"Um." He doesn't want to lie, but it's honestly like playing find the error in the two pictures where the creator messed up and there is none. "I don't...know?"
"This one is like two millimeters to the left and doesn't capture half of that guy over there eating. It might look better to have him for realness though," Yoongi says, then brings the camera up closer to his face. Jimin can't stop himself from laughing, hard, because two millimeters. There's a flash that goes off and Jimin has to blink away the spots in his eyes.
"That's not," Jimin starts, but he waits a bit so he can actually see Yoongi's face. "That's not movement."
"You throw your whole body into a laugh," Yoongi says, looking down at the back of the camera. "It's movement."
"Why don't you take a picture of me and Seokjin?" Hyosang suggests, putting an arm around Seokjin's shoulders and bringing him closer. It takes no time at all for Seokjin to start smiling and pose with a peace sign.
"The combination of both of you will break my camera." Yoongi says, smiling innocently. Namjoon stifles a laugh next to them, as Hyosang sneers and Seokjin gives a pout.
---
Midterm week comes and it's really not that bad, definitely not as bad as people made it out to be. It's a lot better than highschool and after the calculous test, his biggest concern, Jimin doesn't worry as much. In fact, he's in the coffee shop, on his laptop and mostly looking up random videos, not in the least bit freaking out that he's doing it. Tomorrow is literature and he honestly doesn't really know how to study for that anyways.
He's kind of spacing out, because he's bored and he should go back to the dorm and hang with Taehyung or go and call Yoongi up, when the door opens up and Hoseok and Taehyung walk through. Just Hoseok and Taehyung. Jimin wants to throw confetti on them and yell in triumph. Instead, he decides not to ruin their date and tries to hide himself behind his laptop screen so he isn't seen.
It doesn't work, while they both look up at the options (they almost have the same expression) a barista calls out an order and Hoseok's eyes flicker over and they meet gazes. Jimin smiles and waves, hoping that'll be it, but Hoseok pulls at Taehyung's jacket, points over at him, before they walk over.
"How long have you been here?" Hoseok asks.
"Two hours or so." Jimin tries to catch Taehyung's gaze, get some type of signal or anything, but he's just smiling back at Jimin.
"Damn, are you still studying?" Hoseok says, then leans over to see Jimin's screen, videos perfectly on display. He laughs, "Have you just been hanging out here?"
Jimin shrugs, "Yeah, sorta. I like it here."
"See, I told you." Taehyung says.
"What?" Jimin asks and Hoseok looks over at him too.
"The sign when you first came with your favorite order!" Taehyung grins like that explains everything.
"Oh, like fate?" Hoseok nods.
"Yeah." And Jimin stares between both of them. He now understands what Taehyung meant, but now he doesn't understand them. They're on the same wavelength: completely out of the Earth's orbit.
"Since you're not doing anything, did you want to come with us to see a movie?" Hoseok suggests. Again, Jimin tries to see some signal from Taehyung, but he takes it as something else.
"You'll like it," Taehyung says.
Is he really suggesting Jimin join them? Is he really doing that? Jimin has no idea how he's supposed to help someone who can't help himself. "No, I'm going to actually try and study."
Hoseok laughs, "Alright, well have fun." Then, they got back in line. Actually, they both do that irritating thing where they get in line, but are still completely undecided about their order and hold everyone up and-
Jimin sighs and turns back to his laptop.
---
"Did you want to do something or are you just going to chill on my bed," Jimin says. When Jungkook had asked to come over he had suggested going to explore around campus, but it's been ten minutes and he's laying down on Jimin's bed.
"Do what?" Jungkook replies, not even looking up. He kind of looks like he's about to fall asleep, so Jimin's not going to argue that he was the one who came over with the intent to do something. Highschool was hard, he's probably detoxing on his bed. Besides, Taehyung is sprawled out on his own bed, reading manhwas, while Jimin's messing around on his computer. It's too relaxing for them to move.
"Wait," Jungkook sits up and stares over at Taehyung. "You said the dance team meets today."
"Canceled." Taehyung doesn't look over, just flips a page.
Jungkook sighs and falls back down on the bed, "I wanted to meet Hoseok-hyung."
"Oh, that reminds me." Jimin looks over to Taehyung, "How was your date?" Jungkook blinks up at him, then turns to stare at the back of Taehyung's head, as he still won't turn around. It tends to happen, Taehyung getting lost in his comics, so Jimin flicks a pencil at him, hitting him right in the crown of the head.
"What?" He turns, eyes darting between the both of them as he rubs at his head.
"How was your date?" Jimin asks again, grinning.
"Huh?" Taehyung eyebrows knit and this time he sits up, "What are you talking about?"
"Yesterday. At the coffee shop." Jimin sighs when Taehyung just continues staring. "With Hoseok-hyung."
Even with that, it takes a second for it to click, then he blushes. "That wasn't a date."
"Then what was it?" Jimin rolls his eyes when Taehyung shrugs, "Jungkook-ah. It was only Taehyung and Hoseok-hyung."
"Really?" Jungkook grins. "Only them?"
"But-"
"They got coffee together."
"Coffee? Wow."
"It wasn't-"
"They even saw a movie together!"
Jungkook's eyes widen, "A movie, hyung? A movie." He turns to look at Taehyung. "A movie."
"The entire time they were alone. Alone." Jimin nods, satisfied at Taehyung's silence. When Jungkook looks over, eyes still wide, but lips starting to quiver, they meet gazes and both crack up.
"Shut up," Taehyung mumbles. And Jimin would tease him more, but now he's gone and shrunken into himself, knees up to his chest with his arms hugging them.
"C'mon," Jimin smiles, "You should be happy."
"It wasn't a date."
Jimin shrugs, "Then, it's a step forward in the right direction." His phone rings next to him and he checks it as Taehyung grumbles on about why exactly it wasn't a date and that Hoseok looks at him like a friend and how he should give up. He smiles, then wiggles his phone screen in Taehyung's direction.
"Yoongi-hyung just invited us to a party," Jimin says. All he gets back is Taehyung blinking at him. "It'll cheer you up. Pretty sure Hoseok-hyung is going."
Despite the frown being etched onto Taehyung's face, his eyes do brighten up a bit, "Where?"
"Namjoon-hyung and Seokjin-hyung's apartment."
"Hyung," Jungkook grins at him, now completely awake and ready to do things.
"You can't come." Because Jungkook only pulls out hyung when he wants to try and be cute to get Jimin to do something. By the way Jungkook's face immediately falls into a pout, he was right. Jimin smiles at him as he ruffles Jungkook's hair. And Jungkook's growl isn't scary at all with his bangs all messy in front of his face.
---
The party doesn't end up being much of a party. Or maybe Jimin expected too much from college movies. It's at Seokjin and Namjoon's apartment and it's basically all the upperclassmen Jimin knows plus a few other people that he knows are all upperclassmen too. It's small and there's video games and faint music in the background. Completely the opposite of the making out, drunk people passed out, loud thumping music he expected. But, that's not bad at all.
In fact, Jimin really likes this. They're all just talking about stuff and hanging out with the addition of alcohol. Lots and lots of alcohol. Yoongi and Hyosang make it their personal mission to introduce Jimin and Taehyung to all the different types of alcohol. It takes about thirty minutes for Jimin to say the rooms getting a bit not straight and he should probably go sit down on the couch.
"You're such a lightweight, Jiminie," Yoongi says, when Jimin trips on his way over to the couch. Taehyung laughs at him, but then ends up trying to sit on the coffee table so.
"How much have you given them?" Seokjin frowns as Jimin and Taehyung successfully manage to sit down on the couch. The rooms finally okay again and Jimin's mind is pretty okay. Taehyung, on the other hand, is kind of smiling at nothing at all.
"Relax Seokjin-ah," Hyosang plops down next to Seokjin and drapes an arm around his neck. "We are careful and protective hyungs."
"You've had like six shots already," Seokjin rolls his eyes and shrugs Hyosang off him.
"They're fine," Yoongi sits down next to Jimin, who grins over at him. There are drinks littering the table, a lot of the actual liquor bottles only half empty. None of the others seem drunk, Hoseok looks really red in the face, but he's completely stable as he walks over to sit next to Taehyung. Namjoon and Jiho are both on the floor in front of the television, playing Super Mario Cart sort of really awfully, but it's funny and entertaining. For a bit. Then, Jimin starts to look at a bottle that has a peach on it. He's always loved peach.
"Do you want to try it?" Yoongi asks and Jimin turns to him and smiles. So, Yoongi reaches to get a cup and pours him a bit, before handing the cup over. It tastes good, it tastes really good.
"Really good," Jimin mumbles out because that's how good it is. And Yoongi laughs at him and, even though Jimin doesn't know what's funny, he laughs too. Besides, Yoongi's smile is really nice and makes Jimin feel all warm and makes his stomach flip in a good way.
"Don't let him drink all of that," Seokjin yells. At first, Jimin thinks Seokjin's talking about him, but then he looks over to see Taehyung with a half gone beer in his hand. When did that happen?
"It's alright, hyung," Hoseok grins.
Seokjin huffs, "Yoongi, I think you should keep track of Taehyung too."
"Hoseok's got Taehyung."
"Hoseok's a bit drunk. Jimin's cute and all, but you don't have to stare at him all the time." Hyosang says, head in Seokjin's lap and eyes closed so he doesn't see Yoongi's glare. Jimin stares over at Hyosang because he just called him cute. That's okay. Like. That's a compliment, a weird one, but a compliment. Then, he stares back at Yoongi, who's watching the television where Namjoon just won and Jiho's calling bullshit. What Hyosang said is okay, but-
"Am I cute, hyung?" Right after it comes out his cheeks feel hotter than the alcohol already made them. The way Yoongi looks over at him, eyebrows scrunching together, doesn't help.
Namjoon laughs loudly, drawing Yoongi's eyesight away. "Yeah, is he cute, hyung?" Yoongi takes Jimin's cup and throws it at Namjoon's head. His reaction is way too slow and he only thinks about telling Yoongi there was a bit left when it's already spilling in Namjoon's hair. Now Jiho's laughing and Namjoon is cursing and everyone else is laughing too, including Jimin. Until a hand comes up to pinch at his cheek.
"That hurts." Jimin whines.
"Yeah, you're cute." Yoongi gives a small smile, then lets go of Jimin's cheek. It really hurts when Jimin smiles, but he can't stop. Yoongi has to roll his eyes and push Jimin's face away, complaining his smile's too bright.
"Do you want to watch a movie," Namjoon asks, as he gets up, glaring pointedly at Yoongi.
"Scary movie!" Taehyung calls out.
"No." Jimin yells. The look Yoongi gives him is very foreboding, like he's storing this in his brain for some random day in the future.
"Eh," Hyosang says, "Action."
"Action." Jiho agrees.
"Alright, action it is." Namjoon says, then goes off into the apartment to wherever the movies are stored.
"Why not a scary movie?" Taehyung mumbles, pouting.
"How about tomorrow we watch one together, huh?" Hoseok words bring a grin right to Taehyung's face and when he pats at his head it gets even wider. Jimin reaches for one of the beer bottles on the table and when he sits back at up, Yoongi snorts over at him.
"Don't get too drunk okay?"
"You could just take him home," Hyosang says, then stares over at Yoongi with a smile. Seokjin ends up hitting Hyosang on the arm and Hyosang pouts up at him. They look comfy and nice and Jimin really wants to do that, lean up against Yoongi, snuggle into him. But, he's pretty sure Yoongi wouldn't want him doing that. He still wants that though, someone comforting him, someone holding him. The settlement, he decides, is laying his head on Yoongi's shoulder.
It's amazing how quick Yoongi shrugs him off. And maybe that was too much. Maybe, he should have settled for nothing at all. Or-
He's tugged by the arm into Yoongi's chest and he was right, it feels so nice to be held.
"This is more comfortable, right?" Jimin grins up at him and notices Yoongi's face is a bit red. It's the first time he's gotten any sign that Yoongi's been drinking. He would comment on it, poke at his cheeks, but, Namjoon comes in, toweling off his hair and holding a DVD case.
(It takes thirty minutes -fourty minutes? enough minutes that the action has barely started- for Jimin to start to doze off and mumble that he's tired. Upon further inspection, Hyosang is asleep in Seokjin's lap and Hoseok and Taehyung managed to fall asleep on each other. So, Yoongi volunteers to take Jimin to his place because Jimin's dorm is on the other side of the campus while Yoongi's is a five minute walk.
They get there after some stumbling, mostly on Jimin's part, and cursing, mostly on Yoongi's part, and Jimin is dragged into the suite where he's pushed onto the couch.
"You're sleeping here." Yoongi says, "My suitemates are out this weekend, you'll be alright."
"But I want to sleep with you," Jimin mumbles and pulls on Yoongi's sleeves. It's the most of his effort to try and pull Yoongi down onto the couch with him.
Yoongi laughs, then ruffles his hair, "Just sleep out here." He leaves and Jimin frowns off after him, before turning to try to sleep. Right before he closes his eyes, a blankets put on him and his head is lifted up to put a pillow beneath it.
"Good night Jimin-ie." Then, the lights cut out.)
---
When Jimin wakes up, he promptly freaks out and wonders where he is because nothing looks familiar. He might have even sat up quick enough that he gives himself vertigo. Or maybe that's just a hangover.
A door slams and yeah, definitely a hangover. "You're finally up?" Why the fuck is Yoongi yelling.
"Hyung," he whines. When he looks up, head pounding now, Yoongi is grinning at him. He's being an ass and Jimin can't deal with this, so he just lies back down on the bed.
"It's one in the afternoon, c'mon lets go eat." At least he's not being loud anymore, but he's pulling on Jimin's arm.
"Hyung," he whines again. "One more hour."
"What am I your mother?" And as Yoongi gives another pull, Jimin tugs back. While he knew he was stronger than the other, Yoongi's all lean and skinny and Jimin thinks the dance team is the only exercise he allows, he didn't think it'd be that easy to pull him down onto him. And Yoongi's tensing up against him which might mean Jimin's going to pay for this in about ten seconds, but the ten seconds of complete surprised quiet is all Jimin wanted. So, Yoongi starts to sit up and Jimin's head is aching incredibly in preparation to get yelled at- Then, the door opens and there's a loud sigh.
"Did you pass out on the couch again?" It's a low voice, sounding very annoyed. "Just cause we leave for the weekend doesn't mean we want to come back to you passed out and barely alive. There's going to be a day when I come in banging pots and pans and I won't care about your complaints and whines because you need to learn-"
"Shut up," Yoongi groans.
"At least you're not completely missing and I don't have to fill out a form for a new suitemate. I'd rather not have to deal with those two other shits alone for the-" He abruptly stops talking when Jimin sits up to see who he is. His annoyance falls away as he looks between the two, "Oh. Oh, uh, hey. I'm Dae...hyun." Jimin's head is hurting way too hard for him decipher what's happening right now.
Yoongi quickly gets off the couch, then kicks Jimin in his leg. "He's a friend." And Jimin will pretend that doesn't make his face fall and chest ache. "It's a Sunday, why are you back?"
"This is my place too, what do you mean why am I back." Daehyun's still staring at Jimin even as Yoongi walks towards the minifridge on the other side of the room. "Yoongi's got a lot of...friends every week. I've never seen you before though."
"Yo, Jimin," Yoongi calls, and just as Jimin turns a water bottle lands in his lap. "Take that and go to the second room, sleep there for one more hour, okay? One more. I'll bring you Advil." Jimin nods, then scrambles up and away from the awkwardness coating the room. He gives a slight smile to Daehyun, who's studying him with a small smile, then goes towards the room.
"This friend is a very different type of friend."
"Shut up," Yoongi snaps back. The laughter in response is loud and obnoxious, but the type of obnoxious that makes you want to join. Still. It’s very loud and Jimin closes the door to mute it, then quickly falls down onto the bed. At that point he realizes that this is Yoongi’s room and he’s laying on Yoongi’s bed and surrounded by Yoongi’s stuff. Actually, the rooms not really anything, only messy, lived in, and besides the stuff every school dorm gives, is pretty typical. He didn’t really expect anything, other then maybe something embarrassing so he could tease Yoongi for once. He sighs, then turns to see a few photos on the wall. Some of them are just stock photos, probably ones Yoongi's proud of, then there's some of his friends. There's one of Jimin, right in the center of the bed, low enough for him to reach up and touch it. He smiles.
---
It takes a few days for Jimin to actually figure out what happened at Yoongi's place. Actually, Taehyung, of all people, is the one to explain it to him over dinner. That Daehyun thought Jimin was another one of Yoongi's many, apparently, one night stands. (Taehyung says something more along the lines of "the guy must have thought you two were bumping uglies" which Jimin stares at him for, before he gets it and sprays his drink everywhere.)
So, Jimin casually brings it up before class. Just to, y'know, laugh about it. Not to figure out if it's true or anything. What does it matter to Jimin? It doesn't matter to Jimin.
"Why do you care about my sex life?"
"I d-don't," Jimin manages to stammer out, "I was-it's only- I'm trying to make conversation." Yoongi stares at him, eyebrow raised and eyes piercing, Jimin can't even meet his gaze, but then he shrugs.
"Sometimes I go to parties, sometimes I get wasted, and sometimes I bring people back home. Does that satisfy your curiosity?"
No. Because what type of people? How often? Is Jimin his type of person? "Yeah," Jimin sputters.
---
When he first got to college, Jimin thought he would struggle to keep up with dance and practicing, but he's managed to carve out a spot in his schedule, not like it was extremely packed anyway, where he can go down to an open dance room and do whatever. Sometimes he asks Hoseok to come and help him with something, but most of the time it's him by himself. A way to get some alone time away from Taehyung asking him to do things or school obligations or friends asking to do things. He has to practice. It's a perfect excuse.
Usually, he likes it. Even if he gets frustrated because he keeps missing a dance step or he can't get a move, he's still ends up more relaxed at the end of it then at the beginning. But, lately it's been different. Lately, when he dances and messes up it's not due to him actually not getting the beat right. It's because thoughts cloud his head and he's too busy thinking about things, not throwing himself into the dance. Thinking about school stress, Taehyung and Hoseok, minor annoyances. That's what it starts out as. Then, it always winds up back to Yoongi. Something Yoongi said that day to him, something he texted him. Or maybe he thinks further back to what Yoongi's roommate said. Maybe even further back to when they first met and the contrast to now. He convinces himself of things that have no basis. Yoongi loves to ruffles his hair, Yoongi's smile seems to be different when it's aimed at him, Yoongi never snaps at him.
Yoongi.
Yoongi.
And Jimin trips over his own feet, lands on the floor with a thud. He rolls over and stares at the ceiling, bass thumping from the loudspeakers and making the floor bounce along with it. This is such a complete and utter disaster.
---
The sky is a very dark blue when Jimin and Taehyung exit the dining hall. It's only around seven and night is already starting to fall earlier and earlier. The weather's also getting a lot colder and Jimin's thankful he remembered his jacket. A lot of people didn't. There are actually people in all sorts of attire which would make you question the season they're in. There are even people in suits. Jimin pauses.
"Is there some event today?"
Taehyung looks over at him, "Why?"
Why? "Because people are in suits. Do you normally see this many people in suits and dresses?"
"Maybe they just wanted to?"
"A bunch of people are in business attire at the same time because-" Jimin sighs at Taehyung's blinking face. "Nevermind." They carry on with their walk back to the dorm, Taehyung kicking a rock back as Jimin tries to figure out what's happening. He makes up his mind to ask this one guy who's coming towards them, adjusting his sleeves and dusting off his pants. Then, he looks up to adjust his tie and-
"Is that Hoseok-hyung?" Jimin says.
And Taehyung kicks the rock at a bad angle and it flies off into the grass, "What?"
"Up there in the suit."
"Oh," Taehyung pauses, "Yeah. He looks really good." He doesn't know how Taehyung can tell when Hoseok's barely distinguishable, but it gives him an idea.
"Oh?" Jimin grins, "Hoseok-hyung!"
"What are you doing?" Taehyung sounds horrified. It doesn't matter because Hoseok heard and he's already walking towards them.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Hoseok greets.
"Just came back from eating. But, what are you doing? Are you going to a fancy party or something?" Jimin teases because Hoseok looks so uncomfortable. Not with the suit, but with the atmosphere of the suit; he keeps tugging at the sleeves and fixing his jacket.
"I wish," Hoseok smiles, then sighs. "Sometimes we do mock meetings in business attire. It's such a pain and always so quiet and stoic and I have to present something. This suit's also new and feels weird. It probably fits weird too."
"No, it looks good." Taehyung says quick, blushing when he realizes and harder when he sees that Hoseok's staring. "You look good in it. It doesn't look weird." His voice is so soft and barely audible, he's even talking to the ground.
"Thanks," Hoseok smiles. It's not one of his cheerful, fun smiles, the one he always has on his face when he laughs at a joke or is being friendly or being him. There's depth to it, tenderness, and he's looking straight at Taehyung and- Oh. "I should probably go; don't want to be late. Bye." Jimin waves after him and Taehyung says his goodbye to the ground that he's been staring at for the past few seconds.
"Taehyung."
"That was dumb. He doesn't even think of me that way, he probably thinks I'm a little child talking about how cool hyung looks just-" He sighs loudly, not looking up, even scuffs his foot on the cement. "I know."
"No, Taehyung he-" But, Jimin pauses then groans because he won't look up, he's shut down. His 'I feel shitty, because I'm so stupid' mode, that he gets into sometimes. "Nevermind. Let's just go." And he has to drag Taehyung off.
---
There was a very desperate attempt by Taehyung to get Jimin not to go to the dance practice today. He has no idea why since Taehyung is the one with the problem with Hoseok (which isn't really a problem and is more Taehyung making a problem). The obvious solution is that Jimin goes, because he has to show Yukwon he’s capable of doing the solo today, and Taehyung stay home, but, for some reason, in Taehyung's mind that's not acceptable. So, he's been completely quiet the entire time while they wait for it to be their turn to dance. It's so weird that Jimin misses Taehyung's weird speeches about aliens or an app he just bought or even his gushing over Hoseok. Instead, he's sitting next to Jimin and looking so absent and unaware when usually he has a smile on his face.
When they get up to do their part, Taehyung is definitely hitting all the moves right and knows the dance down pat, but he's just careless. Jimin can see it as he's behind Taehyung in the routine, Hyunah even shouts out 'be more energetic Taehyung!' It really shouldn't be this much of a big deal. They complete the routine basically perfectly, Yukwon approves that no one needs to be switched out or anything at least. Then, Jimin shows off his flip (doing it over Hoseok because, well, he's the only one he's practiced on) and it works spectacularly. He sticks it and everyone in the dance club is amazed, Taehyung even gives a slight smile despite his sour mood.
Then, that's it. There's this dinner or something that Yukwon planned for the whole dance team, but Taehyung won't want to go and Jimin doesn't want to leave him at the dorm moping. So, they're just going to leave, Jimin waiting on Taehyung to get his backpack that he left back where they were sitting, when Jimin’s pushed forward by a weight on his shoulder. He looks to his left and it's Yoongi's face right in his.
"Good job, yeah?" Yoongi grins. And Jimin already feels his face starting to heat up and his stomach is fluttery and he grins down at the floor, unable to look Yoongi in the eye. This is just over one compliment. It’s not even a large compliment, it’s like being happy over an elementary teacher’s good job sticker. "You're pretty good at dancing, kid."
"I'm not a kid," he mumbles. He can't look at Yoongi when he's that close, but he knows the other is laughing, his eyes probably crinkling up and showing off his too white teeth.
When Taehyung returns, he's looking at everyone in his "why-is-this-happening-to-me" way and sighs. "We were going to go back to the dorm."
"Oh?" Hoseok says, "Not going to go and get some free food?" His smile is overcompensating and it doesn’t even go to his eyes which are searching Taehyung’s face. One of the many things about Hoseok is he's definitely able to tell when something is off by a little. Even though he's been completely oblivious with Taehyung, he's not when it comes to someone being in a bad mood. He tries to make them smile or be happy like he's doing now.
"I," Taehyung glances over at Hoseok, then he's looking down on the floor. "No, I don't think-" And Hoseok envelops him in a hug, then sort of wobbles them around for a bit. Yoongi snorts next to Jimin and his arm is still around Jimin's neck, heat is still radiating on Jimin's body.
"Namjoon left early too, you can't leave me alone with them." Hoseok whines and turns them around so he's glaring at Jimin and Yoongi.
"Jimin's coming with me too." Already, Taehyung seems a bit less sour.
Hoseok huffs, "That's even worse. Do I want to be left alone with Yoongi-hyung?"
"Hey." Yoongi snaps, then shoves at Jimin when he laughs. He also takes his arm away, his body away, and Jimin doesn't know why he complained about it being there. It feels so empty now that it's gone.
"Well, if you're going to do that," Hoseok finally lets go, smiles directly into Taehyung's eyes. "You have to promise me something."
Taehyung blinks, "What?"
Hoseok grins wider, "Me, Yoongi-hyung, Hyosang-hyung, and Namjoon are doing a performance at the Coffee Shop. You should come."
"Hoseok," Yoongi's voice sounds like a warning, "Not a good idea."
"It's a fantastic idea," Hoseok aims a frown at Yoongi, then smiles back at Taehyung. "You're coming right? You can invite people too."
Yoongi groans, then whispers "Definitely not a good idea."
Taehyung looks between them, then shrugs, "Sure. When?"
Hoseok is practically bouncing with joy, "Next Friday! At around eight, yeah? We could eat afterwards?" Taehyung nods.
Yoongi flicks at Jimin’s head to get his attention, then smiles at his frown, “You’re coming too, right?” For a second, Jimin stares at him blankly because it doesn’t register. Yoongi wants Jimin to go? Didn’t he just not want Taehyung to go? Yoongi pouts, which also confuses Jimin. That is not a valid expression on Yoongi’s face. “Fine then. I’m going to change my verse to a diss against you.”
“Hyung.” Jimin frowns and Yoongi’s smiling again. It seems different and makes Jimin’s stomach flop hard and he doesn’t really know what to do with his face, so he looks back at the ground. “No, I’ll go.“ Then, Yoongi’s petting at his head and it’s annoying how much Jimin likes it.
---
Yoongi texts him about an hour before class telling him he won't be going since he'll be up in the Photography room working on his photo portfolio. It dims Jimin's day. The only reason he can tolerate art history, look forward to it even, is because he gets to talk with Yoongi alone. So, he does a stupid thing and asks if he can join. It’s stupid because as he waits for the reply he’s completely nervous and it shouldn't be because they're friends. A friendship where Jimin's entire day is based around looking forward to talk with him. Where, when Yoongi replies to him saying Jimin's an awful freshman, but sends another text saying sure, Jimin smiles and heads out right away. Where when Jimin opens the door and Yoongi looks up and offers a small smile and a hello, Jimin stomach gets jittery and he grins back without thought.
Friendship.
The photography room is like any other classroom, except on the side there's a row of computers and in the back is the dark room that they use for developing. Jimin only knows because he went inside, since Yoongi wouldn't tell him what it was, and then Yoongi trapped him in there for a bit. This time, Yoongi's moved about four desks together to make one giant desk and has a bunch of pictures scattered around them.
Jimin brings a chair over and watches Yoongi organize the photos. At least, he thinks he's organizing the photos, since Jimin can't see a pattern himself.
"Are you going to sit here and watch me?" Yoongi says.
"I didn't think you wanted me to bother you."
"You're already here." Jimin frowns because he didn't think about that. He didn't think that he could possibly be bothering the other. He didn't think that Yoongi would just say yes to be nice. He didn't think- "That’s-I meant I wouldn't have said yes if I thought you'd bother me." Yoongi turns and offers a smile, "You can talk, it's okay."
"Uh," Jimin says because that was oddly nice.
“Yes, nice conversation starter,” Yoongi chuckles and goes back to the pictures.
Jimin frowns, then stares back along with Yoongi. "What are you doing?"
"I'm sorting them into the different techniques we learned."
"Oh, is that how a photo portfolio works?"
"Not really, I'm supposed to show off my best photos but I figured it would look better if I showed variety."
Jimin nods, "What is this group?"
Yoongi glances over, "Vibrancy theme." Jimin doesn't really see it, but alright. He scans over all the pictures, then he lands on one of him. He doesn't actually remember this, it's at some time when he was in the student center. There's a lot of people in it actually, but they're partially blurred.
"What about the group I'm in?"
"What?" Jimin points over to a set of photos in the middle of the desk above Yoongi. "Oh. That was. Tilt Shift. Yeah."
"What's that?"
"When you-kind of-make a specific thing in the picture the focus."
Jimin grins, "So, I was the focus?"
"Maybe I shouldn't have said you could talk." Yoongi glances over, then laughs when he sees Jimin's pout. "I'm joking, okay." He turns back to the photos, smile still in place while he looks them over. It’s exactly like how he smiled when he was doing his midterm, how he smiles whenever he's focused on photography. So passionate and happy and just seeming like in that moment nothing could sour his mood. But, a few words asking him about it and it does. It’s such a sensitive topic and Jimin doesn't understand why. He wonders for a while, as he watches Yoongi switch photos and noting, probably more to himself than Jimin, exactly why it’s switched categories.
"You like photography a lot," Jimin starts, because that seems like a good way to broach the topic.
"Yeah, it's relaxing." Yoongi doesn’t even look at him, lips twisting before he switches two different photographs.
"Then," Jimin fiddles with the picture in front of him. "Why isn't it your major?" It comes out way too fast and he doesn’t even know if Yoongi understood. Or he could be ignoring it because Yoongi tends to do that when he doesn’t want to acknowledge something. It’s five quiet and nerve-wracking seconds where Jimin is deciding whether to bring up something else, but then Yoongi sighs.
"I actually wanted to do Music." Yoongi replies and Jimin glances over to see him staring at the desk with this bitter expression he always has when Jimin asks. "Right from when I started high school it was all about doing music."
"Um." And Yoongi looks over at him, making Jimin look away. “Really?” Music has always seemed more like a hobby, since Jimin rarely runs into Yoongi doing music things compared to him taking photos.
"Yeah, that's what I brought up at first." Silence stretches on as Jimin stares down at the photos littering the desk. And Jimin's question hasn't really been answered, but it's more than he's gotten ever and more than he thought he'd get (though any type of information is more than he thought he'd get). He's content with that, about to switch the topic to something else-
"My parents laughed in my face. And I could deal with that. It's pretty hard for music people, it's more being discovered than earning it. I thought they were being realistic." Yoongi's just messing around with the photos now, moving them back and forth. "Then, I thought photography. I mean, yeah, it's art and art's almost worse than music, but I was always interested and I took photography Senior year and liked it. I liked it enough to research plausible and attainable jobs, some way for them to accept it. I even gave this whole speech to them about being a photojournalist, I could take pictures for the news and I could double major in political science or some shit so it's not just art y'know." Yoongi sighs again. "My dad stepped on my camera in front of me. He yelled at me and shit, called me lazy and that I wanted to coast through life and live off them, but honestly the camera was the worst. I paid for it on my own." He stops fiddling with the pictures and leans down over the desk.
"Oh." It kind of slips out of Jimin mouth before he can stop it.
"Yeah, oh." Yoongi smiles over at him, but it's missing that playful glint and it's not Yoongi. It's sad and exposed. "You're such an awful little shit. Why did I tell you any of that? Not even Hoseok knows this because he knows not to pry with me. But you-" He sighs again.
"I'm sorry," Jimin mumbles. And he is. Yoongi's not a heart on his sleeve kind of guy. He's kind of awful at emotions, with other people and himself. But, Jimin kept asking.
"Hey." Yoongi says and when Jimin looks up, he nudges him so hard on the forehead he almost falls out the chair. "Don't look so upset to try and guilt me. When you frown you look like a monkey, it makes me laugh not feel guilty."
"I don't look like a monkey!" Jimin pouts.
"Alright, whatever," Yoongi smiles. It's silent for a bit, not as awkward as it was before, but it's still a little off. Whatever Jimin thinks to bring up sounds weird. Everything he thinks about comes with the weight of his knowledge about Yoonig’s parents. Yoongi had never gone home once, never talked about home either, but-
"You're coming to tomorrow's performance, right?" Yoongi says.
Jimin takes a second to comprehend that. "I thought you didn't want me and Taehyung to go?"
"Huh?"
"You said it was a bad idea?"
"Oh," Yoongi scratches at the back of his head, "No. That was about Taehyung-"
"What?"
Yoongi looks over, then shrugs. "Well, it doesn't really matter now, I guess. Hoseok was going to do this really elaborate thing to ask Taehyung out in the middle of his rap which would have been a bad idea. Taehyung's awful with being the center of attention, he'd probably burst. We finally managed to convince him of that and-"
"What." That's not the reason Jimin was expecting at all. Then it dawns on him that Taehyung had mentioned going to eat with Hoseok about ten minutes before Jimin left. And- "What! He's alone with Hoseok-hyung right now."
"Yeah, he's probably asking right now in some special and meaningful way. I don't understand why he can't just slip a let's see a movie tomorrow or something. It's a lot easier."
"It's hard to ask someone out, hyung." Jimin says it before he can think and he chooses to stare at the photos, even though he's already memorized them, instead of seeing Yoongi looking at him.
"I know." For some reason, those two words sound like something Jimin can't grasp and when he looks over, Yoongi's smile is kind of different. He's about to ask, but Yoongi ruffles his hair so much his bangs end up messed up in front of his face. "Help me pick out the best photos so you're of some use."
---
It takes maybe an hour for Yoongi to get tired of him and throw him out. At least he does it in a nicer way than that, says Jimin should do other work and Yoongi's held him for too long. Jimin gets the message
When Jimin unlocks the door, he sees Taehyung sitting on his bed, laptop in his lap, but focused on the wall in front of him with his large, large smile. It takes Jimin slamming the door shut for Taehyung to even notice him and all he does is beam right at him.
"What?" Even though Jimin knows exactly what, but Taehyung looks too energized and Jimin doesn't want to kill that.
"Hoseok-hyung wants me to go hang out in the city with him and go to dinner. He kissed me and said he wants to date. Hoseok-hyung-" And Taehyung is smiling so wide and he cuts himself off by bouncing on his bed.
Jimin smiles, "Finally." Because finally, this took too much effort. But, Taehyung doesn't even seem to hear him. He's too overjoyed and bouncy and energetic and his laptop is dangerously close to falling off his lap.
(It does.
Taehyung doesn't even care.)
---
Taehyung has been buzzing around the entire room talking about what he should wear and how he should style his hair and maybe he should just go with a cap? while Jimin watches him circle around their room twenty times over. He might make a comment about Hoseok having seen Taehyung when he was barely functioning and looking awful numerous times, but those comments are ignored.
It takes thirty minutes for them to finally leave the room (and if Jungkook hadn't already have arrived in front of their dorm, Taehyung would have taken twice the amount of time). Jungkook greets them, smiling widely at Taehyung before complaining that the first time he's meeting Hoseok it'll be when they're already dating. That brightens Taehyung's smile about 50 watts, then he envelops Jungkook in this tight hug. Jimin laughs because Jungkook looks very shocked even though he should be used to hyperactive Taehyung's large and bonecrushing hugs. The thing is, Taehyung then turns the hug to Jimin and he's definitely not used to it either.
The walk to the coffee shop should actually only be five minutes, but they stretch out the time by pointing things out to Jungkook. They have plenty of time to kill since Taehyung made them leave early to catch Hoseok before the show. Like, they enter the coffee shop ten minutes early and Taehyung walks straight towards Hoseok. Or, he hugs Hoseok right in the middle of his conversation with Namjoon, but Hoseok seems to happy to care. Namjoon blinks and stares at them.
Jimin sighs, "He's so annoying." When he doesn't get a sound of agreement, he turns to Jungkook to see him spaced out in Taehyung's direction. He sighs again, then pushes at Jungkook to bring him out of his head and motions for them to follow. Jungkook only blinks, making Jimin have to grab his arm and pull him along. This shouldn't be so hard. Jungkook's cautious around new people, but he's not as awful as Taehyung. Plus, Namjoon and Hoseok are the best people to start with. Not like it's Yoongi since he's no where to be found. (Jimin might have looked over the entire place. Twice).
"Are you ready, hyung?" Jimin greets. Namjoon's still staring in Hoseok and Taehyung's direction when Jimin speaks, but he might be looking at the stage behind them. It's not that different from usual except maybe two dozen seats are sprinkled around it and some tables are moved closer to it. There's also four mics on the stage: one for Hoseok, Namjoon, Hyosang, and Yoongi. It looks like the set up they always use for those coffee shop performances in movies and television shows.
Namjoon shurgs, "Well, I was going over some changes with Hoseok before an alien abducted him." When he turns to them, his reaction goes like this: smile at Jimin, furrowed eyes at Jungkook, more furrowed eyes at Jungkook, intense staring at Jungkook.
"Um." Jimin says, but Namjoon's still staring. And studying him. And generally being very weird. "This is my friend. Jungkook. He's coming here next year." He glances over at Jungkook to see how he's taking it, expecting him to be weirded out. Instead, his face is slightly pink and he looks like he's trying to let his coat swallow him up.
"Oh?" Namjoon stares for about five more seconds, then he grins. "Oh! No, now I remember. Jeon Jungkook?" Jungkook nods, really fast.
It’s weird to see Jungkook looking so flustered and a lot weirder that Namjoon knows who he is. Jimin looks back and forth between him, not quite able to figure it out, but before he can say anything, Taehyung brings Hoseok over and introduces him to Jungkook. And Hoseok does Hoseok and jokes with Jungkook, calls him Kookie, makes him smile. In those few minutes, Jungkook is set at ease like that exchange with Namjoon didn’t happen, he even laughs. It’s like he’s already been fitted into their group because that’s what Hoseok does, makes you feel welcome and relax. That lasts until they have to go and Namjoon says "Bye, Kookie" right after Hoseok says the same exact thing. But Hoseok saying it doesn't make Jungkook give this small shy smile that Jimin didn't know was a face Jungkook could make.
"Kookie." Jimin repeats as they follow Taehyung to take a seat right in the middle of the few chairs that were placed around the stage.
"Shut up." Jungkook glares as he takes off his jacket. Then, when Jimin laughs, he hits him with it before placing it on his chair.
A few people, like three, were already seated in the chairs when they sat down, but the twenty some chairs fill up completely in the five minutes that they wait. Actually, there's even people standing in the back and all the tables have someone seated at them, for the coffee or for the show. It's almost as crowded as it was during midterm season. Jungkook even leans over and asks if this is a normal thing and all Jimin can do is shrug his shoulders since this is his first time seeing a whatever this is at the coffee. He was expecting a few people: friends, friends of friends, and maybe a few random people, but it's starting to seem like a mini concert. Especially with the way some girls behind them are talking about handsome Hyosang oppa and isn't Yoongi oppa so cute? (Jimin snickers softly because Yoongi would hate that).
Seokjin comes right before it's supposed to start, Hyosang following behind him. They talk for a second before Hyosang rushes to the back to wherever the other three are. Seokjin spots them and comes to sit next to them in the seat Taehyung had luckily saved him.
“It’ll be like ten more minutes because Hyosang had to change a track to perfection or something else like that,” Seokjin sighs as he sits down.
“Uh, hyung,” Jimin says as Seokjin pulls off his jacket, bringing back his attention, “Is it usually like this?”
“Well, yeah. They built up a fanbase, Hyosang definitely did from his almost music career and such. Hoseok and Namjoon are new, but Yoongi’s gotten his name out there too. Doesn’t compare to Hyosang though, since he’s a well known senior in the music department with a bunch of fangirls.” Seokjin throws some venom at the end, but he doesn’t look annoyed, just shrugs at them. He doesn’t notice Jungkook until then, but everyone’s starting to clap as the four come on stage. They introduce themselves, some yell (Taehyung and Seokjin included), and Namjoon and Hyosang give a brief background on what they are, what their music is. Yoongi interrupts, says they should probably get to the actual music, and Hyosang nods and tells someone to start the track.
All of them taking the mics off the stands and get in a line as this slow and mellow beat trickles in through the shop’s speakers. It's not sad or anything, just laid back and a nice steady beat that makes you tap your feet. The song’s about how each of them got into music, but, as Jimin listens to the lyrics, it's personal and each person's verse is so particular to them. It’s not incredibly deep or anything: Namjoon struggled to keep doing music, Hoseok adapted to Seoul life, Hyosang almost was an idol, Yoongi missed opportunities in the music world. It’s the way they rap it, expressing their feelings through lyrics that sound heartfelt at least. It ends with someone singing about this is just the way life is and the way they have to live, while the four stand there. They stay like that as everyone claps for them, then the mellow mood is broken when Hoseok looks up with a grin.
Their next song, Hyosang introduces, is “College Woes” which Namjoon calls out as a god awful title. They bicker for a bit, good-naturedly, making everyone laugh and set the stage up for something more fun. They definitely are charismatic. They’re able to bring the crowd in and shape how they should feel as the next song is upbeat. It's talking about the college life in general and poking fun. A song that the crowd emphasizes with and makes them smile. A few people sort of dance in their chairs, including Taehyung, who bumps into Jimin’s shoulder, and when they hit the chorus the second time people stand up and sing along. The end of the song brings in loud, excited cheers from everyone. Jimin shouts out and pinches Jungkook until he gives in and does too. His smile during Namjoon’s rap wasn’t as subtle as he wanted it to be.
The music turns on before the four say anything, Hoseok says how this is “sadly and unfortunately” (Hyosang and Yoongi fake cry in the back together) their last song. It was slow at first, but it kicks off into a faster beat as Hyosang starts off. He talks about love being this magical adventurous thing, but in better and more lyrical words. At one point he shouts out a "you" pointing directly at Seokjin, who laughs and does a heart with his hands. It brings the mood up even more, makes everyone laugh. Namjoon's next, rapping about past love, the feelings and emotions and about how it was such a roller coaster. But, he ends with it being another great experience and hoping the person does well in life.
The beat turns slower as Yoongi starts, this time focusing on current love. The way you smile makes me feel like my insides are twisting, your eyes curving and making me want to hold you in my arms. All this sentimental shit, as Yoongi would call it, but he's the one saying it to the crowd. He’s walking back and forth amongst the other three and joking around with them as they act out his lines. Then, he looks back at the crowd, smiling, eyes scanning and Jimin's watching the crinkles around his mouth, his grip around the mic and every little detail, until he actually catches Yoongi's gaze. Yoongi's looking right at him and it's amazingly stupid how much it shakes him. In some unreasonable way, it makes him believe the song about him, even if Yoongi moves on to staring back somewhere else, Jimin swears he looked right at him. It's probably exactly how fans of artists feel when they meet eyes, that for one second they had a connection and, Jesus, is Jimin so enamored that he's acting like a fan. He's not even paying attention to Hoseok's rap, he's too much in his own head thinking about Yoongi and his rap and his stare and what did that mean. Only when Jungkook pushes at him and motions toward Taehyung, smirking, does Jimin get dragged back to reality. He manages to catch the end of it. Hoseok saying how he's glad to have met you, glad to have seen your smile, glad that you would considering dating him. The way he can feel Taehyung radiating with happiness and grinning, even if his face is very red, takes Jimin's mind away from Yoongi. Though he knows, if Hoseok actually had done it, singled out Taehyung to give his confession, Taehyung probably would have melted into the floor.
They end with each of them rapping a line, exactly in the order they did their verses. They get a lot of cheers for that one, the crowd hollering and shouting their names. It feels like a real concert, with the four bowing and Namjoon saying some words about how he’s happy everyone came and they’ll definitely keep everyone updated on when and where they perform again. Then, they get off stage and head to the back again. The crowd’s still cheering, though it’s greatly dying down as people start to get ready to leave. Jimin follows suit, but then he’s poked by Seokjin who points in the same direction that the others went.
He leads them past the registers and actual coffee making area to this door in the back which Jimin had always thought was the the supply closet. It’s not. It’s more of a nicely decorated storage room filled with a bunch of music oriented random stuff: mics, a drumset, wires, speakers, and the like. The four are in the back, talking animatedly until Hoseok sees them and waves, smiling wide.
“Did you like it?” He asks and, although it’s supposedly asked to all of them, he’s only looking at Taehyung, who nods his head.
“You were really good,” Taehyung grins. Hoseok’s smile sort of twists more into shy and his cheeks tinge pink, but he ruffles at Taehyung’s hair and brings him into a hug, before giving a small 'thanks.'
“You were all good,” Seokjin adds. Hyosang attempts to ruffle his hair, but Seokjin slaps his hand away, rolling his eyes at Hyosang’s pout. It has Jimin laugh, missing the fact that Yoongi’s right next to him until he puts his arms around Jimin’s shoulders and draws him closer.
“Good enough for you to buy us dinner?” Yoongi grins, then turns it to Jimin. “Aren’t you hungry?” He doesn’t understand why his face heats up, why Yoongi’s arm around his neck feels so much hotter than usual. It shouldn’t be this bad.
"And who is this," Hyosang says, looking at Jungkook. Lucky because Jimin couldn't even answer Yoongi back.
“He’s a friend from high school,” Taehyung says.
Hyosang gives him a once-over before smiling, “So, you’re thinking of coming here?”
“Yeah.” Jungkook replies. He’s awful at being the center of attention, ten times more when he’s being stared at by someone he really respects. Or really likes.
“You should come one day and we could show you around,” Namjoon suggests. Or when they talk to him, shown by the way Jungkook just simply nods.
“We said that,” Taehyung looks to Jimin, “but he’s too lazy-”
“I’m not,” Jungkook glares.
“Well, we can start today by showing you the dining hall.” Seokjin says, glancing at Yoongi.
“That’s not fair.” Yoongi frowns.
“The dining hall’s not even open,” Jimin mumbles and Yoongi smiles at him again and his stomach feels all twisted. He even ignores the glare Seokjin shots him.
“Yeah, c’mon hyung,” Yoongi says, finally letting Jimin go. “We could go to that meat place up the street.”
“I heard it’s really good actually.” Hoseok adds, then grins when Seokjin stares at him. There’s about five seconds until Seokjin sighs and relents, them cheering.
Seokjin looks at Hyosang, “What are you cheering for, you’re paying half.”
And Hyosang whines loudly, follows Seokjin out the door complaining that this isn’t fair and doesn’t Seokjin want to pay for him, didn’t he do well enough that he doesn’t have to pay this time.
---
Even though Jimin had been actively trying to get Taehyung and Hoseok together for the longest time, he had always secretly feared how it would be. If somehow the group would change because two people were dating. Or that they might keep to themselves all the time. There was also a slight worry that Taehyung would rarely spend time with Jimin anymore.
They're all unfounded. Everything is exactly the same except sometimes Hoseok and Taehyung hold hands or act way too in love for them to handle. Yoongi yells at them and Namjoon sticks out his tongue in disgust whenever Hoseok calls Taehyung adorable and kisses his cheek. While, to Jimin, it's nice. Sort of. Though, they tend to overdo it. And it's not at all because sometimes, maybe, Jimin's eyes flicker over to Yoongi and he wonders about them. If Yoongi would be like that. Then, Yoongi throws a book at Hoseok when he's staring at Taehyung too long and Jimin gets his answer multiple times over.
"They're so gross," Yoongi retches as he falls back to walk with Jimin so he doesn't have to be next to Taehyung and Hoseok holding hands and laughing. "Their should have been a group decision about whether they were allowed to date or not. It's too much happy in one place."
"C'mon hyung. It's cute." Jimin's watching the way Taehyung smiles and how Hoseok talks so animatedly and it comes out his mouth before he could think.
Yoongi sighs, "Do you want that in a relationship? Are you going to be the lovey dovey hold hands all the time, "no i love you more" type because I can't deal with that."
Jimin blinks, "Why would you have to deal with it?"
It's strange how Yoongi kind of freezes while walking, but he does it. He also glares at Jimin and pushes his head backwards. "Because." Jimin has to take a second to re-orientate himself, but by the time he's going to ask Yoongi to explain, Yoongi's already caught up to Taehyung and Hoseok.
However.
It takes one minute for Yoongi to fall back again and lament about how he's never ever ever staying in a room with those two alone.
---
This is maybe the fourth time Jimin's been in the photography room and, again, it's because of Yoongi. He had gotten a text saying that Yoongi had gotten his movement project back and Jimin should come and look because he's not allowed to take it until the end of the semester. When Jimin arrived, he kind of expected Hoseok to at least be there since he was a part of it too, but Yoongi's sitting on a desk, alone. He smiles when he sees Jimin, then pats the desk next to him.
Jimin acts like it doesn't make his heart flutter when Yoongi scoots closer to show off the binder. The pictures are all good. Well, they had to be for Yoongi to get an A, but Jimin personally thinks they're nice. Or he thinks he does because Yoongi's kind of pressed flushed against him and speaking so close to him and Jimin's not really concentrating. That is until Yoongi pushes at him with his shoulder.
"What?" Jimin asks.
"I said what do you think." When Jimin stares at him, Yoongi holds up the binder.
"Oh, uh. They're really good." Jimin says, then tries to think of something of more substance because Yoongi's looking at him annoyed. "Page three was really great."
Yoongi rolls his eyes, but flips back to it. "Is that because it's all you." He sighs, then hits Jimin as he grins.
"No, actually. You took them well. Like, usually people would get it blurry especially because dancing is so fast, but this is good." This time Yoongi offers him a genuine smile. "They're some of the best pictures I've seen from you." Really, Jimin doesn't know if that's true, but Yoongi is grinning wide and it's so nice.
"Well, they're okay," Yoongi shrugs, then glances over with a smile before placing that binder down and reaching into his backpack next to him. He brings out a huge binder that says "photography" on the top then flips to the back where there's one picture in the clear sleeve. It's of Jimin. Not one of him doing anything, really, but he remembers it. He was staring off into space and Yoongi had taken it without warning him at all.
"This is one of my favorite pictures actually." Yoongi is mumbling as he takes it out and hands it to Jimin.
"Huh? Why?" It's really rather plain. There's nothing going on in the background, no added effect, he's not even smiling that wide. "I don't know, hyung. I really liked that one of Hoseok-hyung doing the flip."
Yoongi huffs, "No. I like this one. It's-" He pauses, "I keep it in the back of here so I know where it is. I never mess with this binder so it'll always be safe."
"My picture?" Jimin grins and holds the photo up high.
"Shut up. It's a good photo." Yoongi snatches it away and Jimin laughs as he places it right back into the sleeve.
"Whatever, hyung," Jimin says. He doesn't really understands what qualifies as a good photo. His best guess would be something unique and eye catching, but that's not what that photo is at all. It's Jimin existing. "You could have at least picked the one of me dancing or something. Oh, the one of me flipping over Hoseok! Or-"
Yoongi sighs loudly. "No I don't-you're an idiot. It's not a good photo like skill wise. It's-I-Shit." He runs a hand through his hair and sighs again. "It's my favorite photo, okay. I like it best."
Jimin blinks, then things start to clear in his head. He starts to connect the dots and his stomach is getting jittery as he starts to hope. "Why?" And the way Yoongi glances at him is like he's about to give up in frustration, but his cheeks are slightly tinged pink and that hope grows.
"Because it's you. No posing or acting or theme needed. It's just you being you and-" Yoongi fidgets with the binder, "I like you. Okay? Fuck. Why are you so slow?" And he continues mumbling on to himself while Jimin grins in his direction. When Yoongi looks over, he glares and flicks at Jimin's forehead.
"You can't say a single damn thing," Yoongi says, then rolls his eyes when Jimin's still grinning. "You've been hooked on me since-"
"What?" It comes out as more loud and shriek like than he meant and he coughs to cover it up. Not like it matters because Yoongi is still laughing at him. "I'm not-you-." He's sputtering, really not knowing how to reply at all.
Yoongi smiles and pinches Jimin's cheek, "Okay. But you like me and-" Jimin is about to deny it like it's not true but Yoongi pulls harder on his cheek and it comes out unintelligble. "I'm not Hoseok, alright? I'm not an oblivious idiot. Just admit it."
Jimin's cheeks feel extremely hot, like he doesn't understand how Yoongi's still holding on. "Shut up." And Yoongi laughs again, but lets go to pat at Jimin's head. Jimin sighs. "I like you." He mumbles. "Hyung."
The way Yoongi's face lights up is really nice, even if he tries to play it off by smirking at him. It makes him grin too and he doesn't really realize it when Yoongi moves forward, but then their lips meet and- This is nice too. Yoongi's lips are a lot softer than he thought (and maybe he's actually thought about this a lot), but when Jimin goes to move closer, deepen the kiss, Yoongi’s already pulling back. It was so quick, just a peck on the lips. And Yoongi is grinning at him, not in a happy, satisfied, I kissed you way, but challenging and cocky.
"Hyung," Jimin whines.
"What Jimin-ie?" Yoongi taunts.
(And maybe Jimin "pounces" on him, as Yoongi describes later to Hoseok, who wanted a full description because he's too nosy and Yoongi's too willing. But, Yoongi really wasn't opposed.)

They finally manage to take Jungkook to a dance practice since he had always been interested and it has nothing to do with Namjoon even if he refuses to meet eyes when Taehyung teases him. Yukwon's okay with it, especially since today they're going away from the previous dance practices to give them a little fun. Instead, they play a lot of popular songs and have people dance. Sort of like the freestyle day, but you don't have to do it if you don't want to. That basically translates to Hoseok pushing all of them to do it, even Namjoon, who complains loudly until "Hush" comes on and Taehyung drags him and Jungkook up to dance it.
"See, that wasn't horrible," Hoseok says when they come back as the song switches to something Super Junior. Jimin, Hoseok, and Yoongi were all sitting on the floor watching. Or well, Yoongi was leaning against Jimin's shoulder because he stayed up writing an essay or something and is tired. The look he gave Jimin was like he was daring him to call him out on the lie.
"Definitely because of Jungkook and Taehyung," Yoongi adds.
Namjoon kicks at his leg, making him open his eyes to glare. "You're talking?"
"Excuse me? I'm amazing, right Jimin?" And Yoongi curls up closer, hand patting his thigh and aiming a smile up at him.
"Well," Jimin starts, laughing when Yoongi growls and pokes him hard in the stomach.
"I'm at least better than Namjoon." He says, going back to closing his eyes, but Hoseok stands up, grinning.
"Why don't we test that?" And it's right on cue that the song changes to Taeyang's "Ringa Linga" that both Namjoon and Yoongi like. Namjoon groans loudly when Hoseok pushes him to the center, then Hoseok physically pulls Yoongi up and drags him out there. "You guys will be voting." Hoseok calls back to them and Jungkook and Taehyung shrug, before sitting down next to Jimin to watch.
"This isn't going to be far," Jungkook says. "Jimin's going to vote for Yoongi-hyung."
Jimin grins over at him, "And you'll vote for Namjoon-hyung, right?"
"No, not necessarily," Jungkook replies way too quickly.
"Oh?" Taehyung smiles, "Well, me and Jimin were planning to get you together. Does this mean we can stop now?" Jungkook's silent for a bit, then mumbles something they can't understand.
"I mean, I got Taehyung and Hoseok-hyung together so." Jimin glances at Jungkook, then sighs, "If you don't want me to help-"
"I don't think he does," Taehyung shakes his head, "Like we could always ask him to be your English tutor, but if you don't want him to." They both look between them, Jungkook is staring directly at Namjoon, blushing and seeming to actually be considering the options. It makes Jimin laugh, then Taehyung follows shortly after, laughing harder when Jungkook pushes at both of them and complains about how he wishes he's never met them.
"Are you even paying attention," Yoongi yells at them. "Am I doing this for nothing?"
"Yoongi's only willing to use his energy for a slight few things guys," Hoseok grins, then dodges the punch Yoongi aimed at his arm.
When they come back, it ends up exactly how they thought it would. Taehyung's the deciding vote and Yoongi ends up winning, but Namjoon doesn't seem to actually care. He just ends up hugging Jungkook and calling him his favorite dongsaeng in the world.
