Work Text:
Morning. Taeyeon wasn't sure she was ready to be awake yet, but the feeling in her stomach said otherwise. Scrambling out of their bed, she ignored the squawk from her mate as she rushed to the toilet. She made it there, just barely, frustrated to feel her stomach emptying itself without her explicit permission.
“Baby?”
Taeyeon groaned, pressing her forehead against the toilet. The cool porcelain felt good on her overheated skin.
“Morning sickness?”
“I hate you,” she muttered, though they both knew she didn't really mean it.
“I'm sorry, baby,” Hyoyeon murmured, brushing the sweat-damp hair away from Taeyeon's face. “But the doctor said it should pass soon, yeah?”
“That's what you said last week,” Tae muttered, in no mood to be soothed so easily.
“Mm, I know, I know, but she also said every pregnancy is different,” her mate replied gently, brushing another kiss to her forehead. “Want some tea?”
“... do I have to move to get it?”
“Probably should,” Hyo said, chuckling softly. “Ah, girl, you're a mess. Come on, let me clean you up first, yeah? And then ... breakfast in bed? How does that sound?”
“... sounds like it requires moving,” Tae mumbled, sighing.
“Yes, baby,” Hyo teased, carding fingers through her hair and then kissing her temple. Humming softly, Hyo carefully helped Tae up onto her feet. For a wonder, she only swooned the once as they made their way back to their bed and Hyo didn't even hesitate, scooping her up into her arms and carrying her the rest of the way.
“You didn't have to do that,” the darker haired alpha said, a soft sigh escaping her as she settled into their bed, burrowing into their nest of blankets.
“It's never been about having to, Taeng,” Hyo countered, brushing another quick kiss to her forehead. “Taking care of you was always part of the deal, silly. For better or worse, remember?”
“I remember,” she replied with a small smile, one hand snaking out of the blankets to pull the other alpha close. Hyo laughed, kissing her forehead again.
“We can't both play hookie, Taeng.”
“What's the good of being bureau chief if you can't call out when you want?” Taeyeon countered, pouting a little. “Your wife's sick, that should be a good enough excuse.
“Babies are expensive and I've got a deadline,” Hyo countered, smoothing dark strands away from Taeyeon's face. “But I'll call the university for you and bring you something special for lunch?”
“I don't have any morning classes today anyway,” Taeyeon confessed with a heavy sigh. “And in a couple hours I'll be fine again, that's how it's been all month.”
“Well, I can still bring you something special for lunch,” her wife insisted with a sharp nod. “Anything you want, just tell me what.”
“... are you seriously asking me about food right now, Kim Hyoyeon?” she muttered, scowling at her alpha mate. Who was trying awfully hard to look innocent right then. Of course she was. “Ugh, you really are the worst, you know that?”
“Oh yeah? Then why did you marry me, hmm?”
“Clearly a lapse of my better judgement,” she teased, rolling over onto her back with a little chuckle.
“Tae!”
“Hyo!” she teased, trying not to smile and failing.
“Glad you're feeling better, baby,” Hyo said, brushing another quick kiss to her forehead. “Seriously, let me make you breakfast? And then anything you want for lunch. And dinner. Even if it's pickle ice cream and white bean chicken chili.”
“... pickle ice cream? I would ... actually, pickled ginger and cinnamon ice cream does sound kind of good....”
“I'll do my best. Up for breakfast?”
Taeyeon glanced over at their bedside clock, annoyed to see that it really was about time for her to be getting up and ready for the day. Her hands moved over her belly, yet another smile curving her lips. She wasn't really showing yet, but soon, surely. Oddly enough, she wasn't so sure she was ready to share this with anyone else yet. What if something went wrong? It was so early still, so hard for two alphas to get pregnant in the first place. And then to successfully carry to term, even with medical help. What if something happened and she lost this child still forming within her? What if–
“Taaaeeeeee~!”
“Okay, okay, I'm up, I'm up,” she said, laughing and waving off her mate's attempts to help her. If she worried herself sick, then that really would be the worst case, wouldn't it.
“I love you, you know that, right?” Hyo said, drawing her into strong arms. Taeyeon couldn't resist, leaning into her wife's embrace with a happy sigh. Even if she hated her morning sickness with a fiery passion, she still loved her Hyo, would always love her.
“Better love me, all this puking I'm doing for you,” Taeyeon mock-grumbled. “I am so not doing this for you ever again, Kim Hyoyeon.”
“Okay, okay, fine, I'll have the next one,” her wife said with a grin. Rolling her eyes, Taeyeon gave Hyo a playful shove towards their kitchen. They would talk about the next one after this one. Maybe a lot after.
