Work Text:

Kao leans lightly against the tripod, still in his pajamas. He carries Pete's cue cards in his lap, trying his best to be encouraging while fighting off sleep.

From the other side of the pool, Pete swims towards him in long, measured freestyle strokes. The surface of the water barely moves as he gets closer. As he reaches the ledge, his head rises from the water in seeming slow motion. Drops of water frame his boyish face, and he looks directly at the camera, smirking, before winking - or, well, at least trying to.

Kao bursts out laughing.

Pete pouts, hefting himself out of the pool. He shakes his wet hair in Kao's direction.

"Jerk, you're supposed to be helping me film," Pete whines, reaching for his boyfriend.

Kao scrambles backwards to avoid the spray, still laughing.

"Is that what you call a wink? No wonder all the girls fall for you," Kao teases, completely awake now. He raises the cue cards above his head, out of Pete's reach, as his boyfriend hovers over him, bare knees on either side of Kao.

"Yeah? You one of those girls?"

"Only when I need a ride."

"Asshole."

"Let's do it again, from the top. I don't want to be late for work."

"Can I at least get a kiss first?" Pete leers, leaning closer.

"No," Kao replies promptly, eyes teasing, so much lighter as it reflects the water. He crawls towards the camera and takes it off the tripod, pointing the lens at his boyfriend.

"What's it like in the day of a life of Pete About Aboyz?" he asks in his best journalist voice, the last three words in sing-song.

"24 hours of dealing with you as my boyfriend," Pete retorts. "I'd drag you into the water if you weren't holding my camera."

"Oooh, I'm so scared."

"Whatever," Pete says, rolling his shoulders. "Let's just finish this."

He jumps back into the far end of the pool, swimming gracefully back to Kao. The other boy dutifully holds up the cue cards, but not before sending a thumbs up and a smile his boyfriend's way.

Pete grins and reads, "Sawadee krab! I'm Pete, and this is a day in my life. I usually swim at the clubhouse, but today we're at my father's pool. I love swimming because- because..."

Kao nods encouragingly, raising the cue cards higher.

Pete takes a deep breath and continues, "Because it's a great way to get fit and improve coordination. It's also fun to do with friends."

Kao turns the next card.

"I usually swim in the morning if I don't have morning classes. But the clubhouse is better because it's Olympic-sized and is closer to uni. For those of you who don't know, I just finished my third year of studying electrical engineering."

Next card.

"Right now, I'm taking my internship at an international company, which comes with its own challenges. Kao's been helping me with my English. Say hi, Kao!"

Kao's eyes widen.

"That's not on our script!" he whispers furiously. Pete reaches out to turn the camera backwards.

Kao swats his hands away, turning the camera toward himself and waving goofily.

Off-screen, Pete laughs. "Say something in English."

"My boyfriend is a doofus," Kao replies, in English.

"Hey!"

"What? I did what you asked!"

"Point it back!"

Cue cards forgotten, Pete leaps onto the ledge and takes the camera in his own hands.

"As you can see, the famous Tutor Kao is helping me film this video. For any of you who might also need help with your English skills…"

Pete turns serious.

"Get it from someone else, because he's mine."

"Aaand that's a cut," Kao announces, reaching to turn off the camera, "I think we should stick to the script for the next segment."

Pete bares his teeth, "I wrote the script, I can change it any time."

"You just want to monetize the #PeteKao hashtag."

"What, can't a guy tell the internet to back off his man? Oh wait, I already did."

Kao gives him a look.

"And also, we need to recover the losses on the teddy bears."

Kao purses his lips, trying not to smile. "Jerk."

"But a jerk who's your boyfriend," Pete replies, wrapping his arms around Kao from behind as he looks over the footage.

"Not bad," Kao remarks, rubbing Pete's wrists.

"You think?" Pete replies, frowning.

Kao turns, giving his boyfriend a soft smile.  "Yeah, you're getting better at this speaking thing, love."

Pete grins, biting at his lower lip. "I've had a patient tutor."

"Plus, I really have to step it up if I can keep up with the English spokening foreigners."

"Ah yes, at the internship we're both going to be late for if we don't get a move on."

He unhooks Pete's arms from around his waist, turning around to kiss him below the ear. Pete closes his eyes and leans closer.

"Race you to the bath," Kao whispers, before running away towards the house with the camera.

Pete's eyes blink open. He shakes his head, smirking, before chasing after his boyfriend.
