Work Text:
My heart belongs to you forever
Wei Wuxian had thought that he wouldn't see Lan Wangji in a very long time after they had parted ways today.
He had never expected that Lan Wangji would turn around and come back to him.
But the soft "Wei Ying …" had taught him better. Hadn't it always been like that? Lan Wangji coming for him, coming for his rescue, taking care of him? Standing by his side when others didn't? When his own family had abandoned him? Lan Wangji had been there for him since his resurrection, had supported him … had believed him and in him, and his innocence.
And Wei Wuxian had never been happier.
Without hesitation he had followed his love (because that's what Lan Zhan was for him and he was tired of denying it to himself) back to Cloud Recesses, back to Lan Wangji's chamber, leaving the world behind them for a couple of hours.
They had made love for the first time that day, taking their sweet time, getting to know each others body with lips and hands; memorising every little mole, every little bump; the feeling of soft skin and strong muscles underneath searching fingers; drinking in the little sounds that left their lips, cataloguing the sensitive spot that elicited them.
Wei Wuxian basked in the feeling of having Lan Wangji this close to him, feeling his breath ghosting over the shell of his ear when he had pushed in. The little grunts and moans of pleasure that only Wei Wuxian was allowed to hear, that was meant for him. The small promises whispered into his skin by Lan Wangji, the pleas for forgiveness, the airy 'I love you A-Ying' when he had reached his climax.
Wei Wuxian held him close after, fingers trailing idly patterns on the skin of Lan Wangji’s back, both of them falling asleep surrounded with each others warmth.

When Wei Wuxian woke up a few hours later, Lan Wangji was still asleep but he had settled next to Wei Wuxian on the bed, lying on his stomach. Wei Wuxian watched him for a while, drinking in the relaxed expression on Lan Wangji’s face. All the tension and stoic expression had left Lan Wangji’s features, the dark lashes a stark contrast to his fair skin. It was so different from when he was awake and Wei Wuxian was sure he would never get enough of this.
He pushed himself up a bit and placed a soft kiss on Lan Wangji’s cheek. His hand slid down over his back, feeling the swell of skin under his fingers. A feeling of dread started to rise in his stomach. They had treated Lan Wangji so wrongly and Wei Wuxian was so sorry that it had happened, that he had been reprimanded for doing the right thing, for standing with his conviction and with his friend. That he had been the source for so much inflicted pain.
Wei Wuxian shifted lightly, his hand moving to Lan Wangji’s side, curling around the soft skin there and making his lover stir a bit, but not waking him. He bent down and pressed his lips against the long scar on Lan Wangji’s left shoulder, mouthing along the ridged skin, murmuring soft promises under his breath, that he would protect Lan Wangji from now on and that he would destroy everyone who tried to cause him so much pain again. He knew he wasn’t able to make them vanish, but he wished with all his heart that he would be able to make them go away.
With tender fingers Wei Wuxian pushed Lan Wangji’s hair aside, revealing more of the torn and healed flesh. His heart broke a bit at the sight, and he poured all his love, all his longing, all his regret into his tender ministrations. Wei Wuxian placed his forehead on Lan Wangji’s shoulder after he had kissed every single scar, watching his thumb glide over the double scar on Lan Wangji’s right shoulder.
“I am so sorry Lan Zhan,” he whispered, his heart heavy with guilt. “I would wish I could turn back time and undo it.”
A warm hand wrapped around his wrist and Wei Wuxian startled before he lifted his head to look in Lan Wangji’s open eyes, warm and soft, and filled with love. He hadn’t realised until now that Lan Wangji had woken up.
“Don’t be,” Lan Wangji answered, his voice nearly inaudible. “I’d do it over and over again because it brought us to this moment.”
“Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian whispered, his voice holding all the pain he felt.
Lan Wangji brought Wei Wuxian’s hand to his lips and kissed it, his lips tender against Wei Wuxian’s skin. His throat tightened with hold back emotions and feelings and Wei Wuxian placed his head back on Lan Wangji’s shoulder.
“I made my choice sixteen years ago, and I don’t regret it. You being here with me now will always be a reminder that I made the right decision.”
Wei Wuxian lifted his head again, tears forming in his eyes. Lan Wangji rolled onto his side and pulled Wei Wuxian in for a kiss, while his strong arms wrapped around Wei Wuxian, holding him close to his chest. Giving him a feeling of safety and home.
Because Lan Wangji had always been that for him: home.
“I love you, A-Ying. I always have. And my heart belongs to you, forever.”
