Work Text:

It was a day like any other.

He woke up to his 5:10 AM alarm. The sun was not up yet, but he could feel that it was going to be a warm day. He changed to his favorite black sweatpants and a grey tank top and went for a thirty-minute run around the block, as usual. To change it up a little bit, he had a couple of routes for his morning run, but the cycle would repeat every 4 days.

He arrived home with a thin layer of sweat in his skin and a little of a labored breath. His morning run would never tire him, but wake him up and make him feel more active during the day. It was also the only moment that he had kind of a moment for his workout, with his very busy schedule.

He went to feed his cat, Spice, who was already awake, and started to cook breakfast for one: a cup of coffee, a veggie omelet with a bowl of fruit on the side. He finished, put the dishes on the dishwasher and went to take a shower.

He got dressed with one of his dark blue suits, fixed his hair, pet Spice, grabbed his briefcase and went out the door at 7:30 AM.

He arrived at the office at 7:50 AM and took the elevator to the thirteenth floor to his office.

“Good morning, Mr. Bakugou” his secretary said.

“Morning, Uraraka” he responded.

Katsuki Bakugou entered his office with Ochako Uraraka behind him ready to help him organize his day with his agenda.

It was a day like any other.

By 6:00 PM Ochako was packing up all her things when she asked, “Mr. Bakugou, do you need anything else?”

“No Uraraka. That’s all for today. Go home.”

Ochako looked closely at her boss, a man she knew only had a life for his company. He was a good man, and she could not help but think that he could be happier if there was something else in his life. She could see he was lonely. She could only hope that he would find someone to share his life with.

“You should also go home, sir. Its Friday!” she said gently.

Katsuki half-smiled. Ochako had been his secretary for years now, he was glad he had her in his team.

“Its okay. I have things to do…” he answered.

“Have a good night, sir”

He sighed and stretched in his chair. He could feel his muscles getting tired of being in the same position for an extended period of time.

He looked at the clock. It was 9:15 PM and he knew it was time to get out of there.

He turned off his computer, organized the reports he was reading, picked his suit jacket and briefcase and went down to the parking lot. He entered his car and drove home.

It was a day like any other.

He opened the front door of his apartment and Spice was there waiting to greet him. He smiled, crouched and pet her as a greeting.

He changed clothes to be more comfortable, turned on the TV in the living room and went to the kitchen to cook dinner. He could hear the news while cutting all the vegetables for the stir fry.

He would have called Eijirou to go out for a couple of drinks, but it was February 12th. Valentine's Day was on Sunday, and everybody was celebrating those three days. He knew his best friend had a weekend-long-date planned with Mina, so going for drinks was not an option. And yes, he had other friends, like Denki and Sero and Jirou, but, well, they were all paired up. They all had partners, some even had found their soulmates, so, again, it wasn’t an option.

He could admit that he kind of hated it. He was happy for his friends, he really was, but… He could not help but think constantly about his own loneliness. Whenever they hung out as a group, he was the ninth wheel.

It got to the point that he would try to avoid going out when everyone was there. He loved his friends but hated being left out one way or another.

And it's as if he hadn’t tried.

He dated, he had one-night stands, he had friend-with-benefits, and they all… Not really worked. He would most of the time want something more permanent, but never with the person he was with at the moment.

He yearned for something like what Eijirou and Mina had. Denki and Hitoshi. Hanta and Shouto. Kyouka and Yaoyarozu. They were all just so perfect for one another.

He didn’t really believe in soulmates, in destiny over free will, but he could not help but think that maybe the mark in his wrist was just a clue of that person that would balance him out, that person that could be his other half, as cheesy as that could sound. It didn’t have to be destiny over free will, he could choose. And that mark, if he ever found it in another person, could just be the world’s way of showing how compatible they were, even if things did or did not work out.

Maybe that was the reason why he never covered it. But he had not found anyone with the same mark yet.

He served his stir fry and sat on the living room’s couch right next to Spice.

He put in a movie while he ate.

It was a day like any other.

He woke up to his 5:10 AM alarm.

He changed to a pair of grey sweatpants and a blank tank top and went for a thirty-minute run around the block, as usual.

He arrived home with a thin layer of sweat in his skin and a little of a labored breath.

He went to feed Spice, and started to cook breakfast for one: a cup of coffee, pancakes and whipped eggs. He finished, put the dishes on the dishwasher and went to take a shower.

He got dressed with one of his black suits, fixed his hair, pet Spice, grabbed his briefcase and went out the door at 7:30 AM.

He arrived at the office at 7:50 AM and took the elevator to the thirteenth floor.

“Good morning, Mr. Bakugou” his secretary said.

“Morning, Uraraka” he responded.

Katsuki entered his office with Ochako behind him ready to help him organize his day with his agenda.

He took his suit jacket off and sat down in his chair while pulling out of his briefcase a couple of reports he had worked on the weekend.

“How was the weekend?” he asked her.

“Oh! It was wonderful, sir. My husband took me for a weekend getaway out of the city, it was lovely. Thank you for asking!” she answered. In other circumstances she would have asked about her boss’s weekend but he was a private guy and she was almost certain that he spent it home alone.

“And your 8:00 AM meeting is running 15 minutes late, sir” Ochako said. “He called to let us know”

Katsuki exhaled loudly. “Well, at least they have the decency to do so… Will that be a problem for the next meeting?”

“I already moved it to 9:30 AM just in case”

“Great. Please get me the marketing reports on this client’s portfolio and... Can you order me an iced coffee from the cafeteria? It's getting quite warm already” he asked while folding his shirts’ sleeves under his elbows.

“Of course, sir”.

Katsuki was reading the reports for a third time while drinking his iced coffee. It was a new client, and he wanted to be extra prepared for the negotiations and the marketing proposal that they had developed for them.

Ochako opened the door and said, “Your 8:00 AM is here, sir”

“Let them in,” he answered.

“Thank you, ma’am” a male voice said before they appeared through the door.

Katsuki stood up and extended his hand to the client. “Katsuki Bakugou”. He could not help but think that this guy was… well, he was something. Dressed in an impeccable dark grey suit, black shiny shoes, with an undercut with sort of unkempt green hair at the top, freckles for days and dark, shiny emerald eyes.

“Izuku Midoriya” he said as he extended his hand to accept the handshake. “Thank you for having me and sorry for the delay”

Katsuki shaked his head. “It happens. Thank you for calling ahead of time to let us know, Mr. Midoriya”.

“Just Izuku, please” he said while smiling.

Katsuki was thinking how this meeting was going to kill him.

“Then just Katsuki for me then…” he commented. “Do you want anything? A coffee, a glass of water?”

“No, thank you.” he answered.

“Let’s go ahead, then”, Katsuki said.

Quickly the reunion was all about numbers, reach of product, promotion and marketing ideas. And even if Katsuki was getting a little distracted with such specimen in his office, he was able to present the proposal to the, he hoped, soon-to-be-client.

He wouldn’t normally be in charge of presenting proposals to potential clients, but this was a big one. If they were able to nail this client, they would easily not have to worry about getting other big contracts for the rest of the year. This was it, really.

Izuku Midoriya asked all the questions that let Katsuki know he was seriously interested in the proposal. He was thinking he would have it in the bag.

“Well, Katsuki, it's a very interesting proposal,” he said. “It’s actually one of the best we have received until now”

Katsuki smiled, “I am glad to hear”.

“Of course I have to present to the board and discuss it, but I’ll be in touch,” he concluded.

Katsuki handed the folders to Izuku and stood up.

“If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us”, he said while extending his hand for a goodbye handshake.

“Thank you so much, Katsuki” he answered and turned to head out the door.

Damn, he must work out. Katuski thought as he saw Izuku’s backside. But he knew he could not pursue him, it would be inappropriate with them working together, if they accepted the proposal.

“Would…” Izuku said and turned to look at Katsuki once more. “Would you be available for lunch this evening?” he asked boldly.

Katsuki was stunned. “To further discuss this?” he asked.

“No,” Izuku said while smiling.

“I-” he said but stopped. Was he also interested? He totally should not accept, but it was such an amazing opportunity... “Yes. I am available.” he answered.

“Great. I’ll pick you up at 1:00 PM” Izuku said as a goodbye and then opened the door and exited the office before Katsuki could say anything.

Damn.

It was a day like any other.

He woke up to his 6:10 AM alarm. The sun was not up yet, but he could feel that it was going to be a cold day, they were nearing winter. He left the comfort and warmth of his bed and changed to his favorite black sweatpants and a grey long-sleeve t-shirt and went for a thirty-minute run around the block, as usual.

He arrived home with a thin layer of sweat in his skin and a little of a labored breath. His morning run would never tire him, but wake him up and make him feel more active during the day. It was also the only moment that he had kind of a moment for his workout, with his very busy schedule.

He went to feed Spice, who was already awake, and started to cook breakfast: some black coffee, a bowl of fruit and some breakfast burritos. He was busy with the pan on the stove when he felt some strong arms wrap around his waist.

“Good morning” Izuku said while leaving some little kisses in Katsuki’s neck.

“Morning nerd” he answered.

Izuku was hugging him and almost cuddling him from behind. “How was your run?” he asked him.

“Vigorous,” he answered. “If you weren’t a lazy ass you would come running with me and make that part of your workout…”

Izuku groaned. “But it's so cold out there. And so early! I prefer doing it in the evening”

“I know, you are a baby,” Katsuki laughed.

Izuku pouted, but left his husband to finish their breakfast and sat at the table.

Katsuki served everything and they ate while discussing their upcoming day. It was busy for them both, as always.

He then took a shower, one that Izuku invaded, as he often did. Katsuki just laughed it off. He had gotten accustomed to his husband’s antics.

He got dressed with one of his dark blue suits, fixed his hair, pet Spice, grabbed his briefcase and waited at the door for Izuku to be done with getting ready.

Once he finally got to the door, Katsuki fixed his husband’s tie. He had never learned to do it right.

They went out the door, down the parking lot and into their car. Katsuki drove for 20 minutes to Izuku’s office and left him at the door.

In reality, Izuku could take the train. Or Katsuki while Izuku took the car. Hell, they could even buy another one for convenience, but they loved sharing everything, including driving to and from the others’ office. It had become part of their routines.

“Have a good day, baby”, Izuku said and gently kissed his husband. “Don’t forget dinner at Shouto’s tonight!”

“I won’t, nerd. I’ll pick you up at 7:00 PM”.

He arrived at the office at 8:50 AM and took the elevator to the thirteenth floor to his office.

“Good morning, Mr. Bakugou” his secretary said.

“Morning, Uraraka” he responded.

Katsuki entered his office with Ochako behind him ready to help him organize his day with his agenda.

It was a day like any other.
