Chapter Text
The rickety trolley made a screeching noise as it drove off, leaving Olivia on the pavement. She was acutely aware of the clicking of her shoes on the floor, and the fact that she had already missed orientation.
‘ it must be lunch already.’ She frownes, she wouldn’t be late if the trolley hadn’t broken down.
‘Could have left earlier too Olivia.’ She remindes herself, recalling being heavilly invested in a book and leaving the house late.
She pushes open the oak doors, stepping into the school, only to be met with a deserted hallway. ‘ Shit ’ she thought, glancing at her watch, which much to her dismay, read 11:45, everyone was probably having lunch already.
She looked around, the entry’s dark towering pillars, dark overtones and general lack of brightness provided for a pretty unwelcoming feel (although she was sure some people might appreciate it) . As of on cue, someone who looked to Olivia like one of the people that would enjoy dark and gloomy spaces.
The girl was fairly tall, thin, had flowing dark hair, and had a look of bewilderment plastered onto her face, a word which here means the face that one might wear if they were looking for something or in this particular case, someone.
The girl spottes her and almost instantly formed a bright smile on her face before striding confidently towards Olivia.
“Hi! I’m Beatrice, I don’t believe we’ve met, what’s you’re name?” The girl spoke, quickly and with a tone of exitment.
“Olivia.” The taller girl replies, sticking her hand out for a shake.
“Well in that case we have defined never met as I have never met any Olivia’s, and if you’re a student, that means you probably missed orientant.” She laughes.
“Yes well that’s sort of my predicament, I’m not really sure were to go.”
“Well lunch just started, so everyone is in the dining hall, thats actually why I’m here. Two of my friends were supposed to be at the table already, so the group sent me to look for them.”
“Mind if I join you?”
“Not at all.” Beatrice smiled. She had a lovely smile.
“Come on then.” She turned on her heel and started for the other side of the hall, dragging Olivia by the wrist.”
“ I wonder were they are.” Beatrice thought out loud.
The pair rounded a corner and were met with a blonde girl. She was a bit taller than Beatrice, rail thin and at the moment looking a bit flustered.
“Esmé!” Beatrice exclaims.
“Oh, Beatrice! What are you doing here.” She sounds a little bit breathless to Olivia.
“Looking for you dummie.” The brunette grinned.
“Have you seen Georgina by any chance?”She asked.
“Fraid not.” Esmé shrugged
“Tgey heard the sound of footsteps heading their way, before a dark haired girl came into view, pushing up her glasses.
“Georgina!” Beatrice practically yells.
“Beatrice, be a dear and refrain from yelling. I have a killer headache and am in no particular mood to here you talk any louder than you already do.” The girl said, in what Olivia could only describe as a snarl.
“I have some tylenol.” Esmé piped up “I can give you some in the cafeteria.” She smiled.
“That would be lovely dear.” Georgina spoke, in a softer tone than before.
“Then let’s go.” Beatrice spoke, quietly, before starting a quick walk in the opposite direction that Esmé came from.
