Work Text:
Geralt knew Jaskier was trans within a month of their first meeting. The other man had been rambling about some dress he was contemplating on buying.
“I honestly used to despise dresses, but that was mainly since my mother forced me into them, and I thought they were for girls. But now I see the utter stupidity in gendering cloth and am much more comfortable in my magnificent body than I was as a teenager.”
Geralt turned to stare at his companion. Jaskier, taking his stare as confused, said, “I’m trans.”
Geralt opened his mouth and replied with a gruff “Me too.”
---
Knowing Jaskier, Geralt really shouldn’t have been that surprised when he came home to their shared flat announcing that he had got them a gift.
The musician was holding up two pairs of socks with stripes, the colour of the trans flag. “You don’t have to wear them, of course, but since it’s pride month and all that, I thought it would be a nice subtle way to show pride since knowing you, you won’t go all out or anything.”
Geralt hmmd as the socks were held in their face, “I even got myself a pair so that we can match.
Geralt smiled.

When Jaskier first met Yennefer, he didn’t like her (the feeling was mutual). But ever since they both “broke up” with Geralt on the same day, they became good friends, and their insults were less from a place of hatred and more from a place of love.
One day while Yennefer and Jaskier were gossiping together, she mentioned something about the matching socks being “stupid but also cute.”
So Jaskier obviously decided to get Yennefer a pair, so when she arrived for their next weekly gossip session, Jaskier handed her a pair.
“For you, so we can all match since we’re a family.”
Yennefer hated herself for getting emotional over a pair of socks.
They were just socks, after all.
And every time Yennefer wore them, she felt loved.
---
Geralt and Jaskier had been officially dating for less than a month when Ciri was thrust into their lives. Though dating didn’t seem the right word to either of them since they had been friends for nearly two decades and married (for tax purposes) for half of that.
Yennefer, Geralt, and Jaskier were now charged with parenting a twelve-year-old (some parts being more manageable than others).
Nevertheless, none of them were particularly surprised when their child said that they were questioning their gender. They had all seen signs that were present in themselves once upon a time.
“I know I’m definitely not a girl, but besides that, I’m not sure what I am.” The child told them without nervousness, they knew their parents would understand.
---
A week later, Ciri came home from school to find a pair of blue, pink, and white socks that matched the ones they’d seen their parents wear. On top, there was a note that read Congrats! -Love J in swirly handwriting.
Ciri beamed and thought about how much she adored her new family.
---
Jaskier slept in. He had been out late yesterday giving a concert and couldn’t fall asleep soon after because of his post-concert energy.
He padded into the kitchen and placed a kiss on Ciri’s head.
“Good morning,”
“It’s noon,”
“Shut up, Yennefer.” He said, placing a kiss on her cheek and then moved to kiss Geralt’s lips distracting him from the horse-shaped pancakes they were attempting to make.
“All day breakfast, I see,” they noted, resting his chin on Geralt’s shoulder.
“Ciri asked.”
As if called upon their name, the aforementioned child started giggling.
“What’s so funny.”
“Nothing. It’s just that we’re all wearing our matching socks.”
“Indeed we are.” Jaskier answered with a chuckle of his own. “You know I bought Geralt’s pair before you were born.”
So Jaskier happily told the story as they all ate their lunch of horse-shaped pancakes.
