Chapter Text
Wilbur Soot was screwed from the beginning. It was a fact. When he would think back on his childhood in the years to come he would realize this.
His twin brother was by far the preferred sibling but Wilbur never noticed, his days were busy exploring their walled-in village. He would also look back on his parents, the people who died too soon.
Raiders were nasty creatures that didn’t even deserve the title of people anymore. Not in Wilbur’s eyes or in many others. He had figured they would be safe from the horrors outside of the wall but nothing is certain anymore. Afterall the world had ended.
Over a hundred years ago some idiots in charge of major superpowers couldn’t keep it in their pants and blew up the world. Nukes really suck. Eighty years after that a group of scientists tried to reverse the damage and creatures created by this fallout and failed, epically.
The world was plunged into a permanent night thanks to a volcanic ash cover. The creatures which had before burned in the harsh sunlight were now free to roam. Most major cities were gone and anything left had been raided or destroyed by other idiots so all that was left of humanity was small walled up villages.
The bigger villages have snatched sixteen year olds and up of all kinds for a mandatory military service to go out and kill as many nonhumans as possible. It was easy to rise through the ranks of these sort of armies considering how many don’t survive while doing this.
This is were our story needs a little setup, in one of these small villages. Or to be more accurate, what is left of one of the villages. Wilbur Soot had gone to bed late. He hadn’t been sleeping well the past few months si
nce he had gotten back from his time in the service and finally his body decided to give out on him. To be fair he hadn’t been sleeping well while in the service.
It didn’t get much time to recover however and was woken up three hours later to the alarm bell. He grabbed his gun that was kept from his time serving and raced out of his house that he shared with his twin. The other man was already out in the thick of the battle. He had renounced his real name to avoid going into the service, they didn’t have a record for a Technoblade. His hate of the government was well known and led to quite a few arguments between the twins.
Techno was blasting every raider he could and even though Wilbur had been outside the wall and seen the horrors out there, nothing compared to the fear he felt when he saw his brother like this. Techno was completely emotionless and cold. Everyone knew he was a good fighter but this confirmed it in one of the most terrifying ways possible.
When the dust settled and the remaining raiders were either killed of fled, the Soot twins found that they were the only ones of their family to make it out alive, fate had not smiled at their parents. They were buried in a nice grave in the village graveyard.
A week after everything was over, Wilbur woke up to a letter on the kitchen table.
Wilbur,
I am not too good with words but after everything that has happened I’ve decided what I must do. I am going to end this night. Don’t come after me, your time spent past the wall has changed you and now you kinda suck. But listen, I’ll be back soon so don’t cry or anything. I also took your sword because it is better than mine. The gov. did one thing right giving those out and I couldn't get decent materials inside this sucky place.
-Technoblade
The second Wilbur had finished reading the letter he knew his idiot brother was about to do something very stupid that he probably shouldn’t be doing alone. Within hours Wilbur was packed and leaving. He needed his brother.
