Chapter 1

Ladybug was sitting on the top of a building, facing the Eiffel tower. She and Chat Noir had just finished their rounds for their midnight patrol, and were now atop a random rooftop that offered both privacy from any onlookers, and a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower.

The fearsome heroine swung her legs over the ledge of the building, dangling her legs in the air. She looked back at Chat Noir “You gonna come sit with me?” She raised a brow. He was sitting on the ground and she was quite confused. “Come onnn..” She paused, before biting her lip to prevent herself from smirking. “Don’t be such a scaredy cat-”

"I am not!" Chat exclaimed, and in his rush to get to the ledge before she could accuse him further, he missed the ledge completely and fell down the side of the building.

“Chat!!-” She screamed, horrified. She propped her hands on the building and leaned forwards, looking down.

"Totally meant to do thaaaat!" He yelled as he fell into the darkness, his voice getting quieter as he descended.

At the last minute, he used his baton to take the brunt of the fall. His momentum caused him to roll, and he stopped on his back, his arms reclined behind his head and his legs crossed.

She instinctively leaped down to try and catch him, something she once did when trying to catch Adrien once during an Akuma attack. She was late this time, as he had already landed onto the ground by the time she got down. “Chat..?” She slowly approached him, concern evident on her face. “Are you alright?”

“Better than ever,” He winked up at her from his position on the ground. “Although it is sweet of you to worry, bugaboo!” He offered her a lopsided grin.

“Tch.” She looked away and crossed her arms childishly. “You wish.”

She lay down on the soft grass next to him, looking up at the stars. She found it so beautiful and calming.

After moments of silence, Ladybug’s mind started to swirl with anxious thoughts. These thoughts had been protruding her every moment and she was getting sick of it.

“Chat..?” She whispered softly, breaking the silence.

“Hm?” Chat hummed.

“It’s just..” She paused, playing around with the thought of letting her walls down for a moment. “Okay, so I know we can’t talk about our civilian lives to maintain our secret identities..” She started, “But I really need somebody to talk to.” She mumbled, feeling vulnerable.

“You can talk to me, Milady. I’m always here for you.” He smiled softly.

“Thamk.”

There was a long pause. She looked up at the stars, her eyes more open than they can be in the fullness of day, not looking at one star, yet somehow seeing them all at once. She sucked in a breath before talking. “Basically... I'm getting kicked out.” She was blunt, but got the message across. She really wasn't the type to beat around the bush.

Chat frowned. “Kicked out? Why?”

“Cause I’m almost of age. I’m going to be an adult soon, and my parents want me to be more independent. Time really does fly, huh? It’s like just yesterday I got my kwami and met you, Chat.” She smiled fondly at the memories she had cherished over the years. She was glad it was dark out, he wouldn’t be able to see her facial expression.

Chat shook his head in wonder. “It really did go by so fast, one moment we are thirteen and forced to fight a butterfly man, the next, five years have passed and we're still fighting the butterfly man, but we are stronger and work together even better than before. We are still the purr fect team after all this time.” He said, sincere despite the puns.

“And wow, that sucks. My father is the opposite, he wouldn’t even let me go to school until lycée, and even then he was constantly threatening to pull me out. Even now, as a grown adult, he still refuses to let me rent my own apartment, in the same part of the city! Even with all of my friends backing me up, he wouldn't be convinced.” He sighed. “Looks like I’ll be a caged cat forever.”

Ladybug listened to him talk, not connecting the dots . Ah yes, the characters really are clueless, huh?

“I guess your father cares a lot about you.” She said softly, “He’s going to be with you every step of the way.. And I’m going to be left alone to defend for myself. Aly- I mean my friend is going to move in with her boyfriend, so that leaves me all alone.” She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

“I’m honestly... Scared of being alone.” She confessed,

“Yeah…" He paused, and unbeknownst to her, frowned in the dark. "I’d be in a similar situation if I were allowed my own place. My friend is also going to be living with his girlfriend. “ He sighed. “But hey, lighten up! That’s not the LB I know. We can find a solution.” He said encouragingly. “There’s gotta be something we can do.”

Something suddenly caught his eye, and he bumped Ladybug’s arm, pointing at what he saw. “Look!” He exclaimed, with an air of childish joy. “A shooting star! Make a wish, Milady!”

“A wish, huh?” She looked up, and there it was. A shooting star. it illuminated the darkness and her fears crumbled to dust beneath her feet. She closed her eyes and she thought about what she wanted... What did she want?

Chat Noir knew exactly what he wanted to wish for. ‘I wish to be free from my father’s cage.’ He paused. If he could wish for anything , he might as well make it worth it. ‘And for Ladybug to fall in love with me, someday. ’ He knew it was silly, but what could he say? A Chat can hope.

‘I want someone to be at my side. Someone to experience the journey of growing old with me.’ She already had a boy in mind. A certain boy with gold locks, but she knew his father would never approve. She wished anyways, being the hopeless romantic she was. This wish was killing two birds with a stone, anyways. She just didn’t want to be alone. The thought of loneliness terrified her.

Silence fell once again as they thought hard on their wishes. Ladybug’s eyes drooped, and as her consciousness ebbed, her mind went into free fall, swirling with the beautiful chaos of a new dream.

Marinette woke up. She was surprised to find herself laying on a soft mattress and buried under warm blankets. She had been woken by the sound of piano playing. Not creepy at all. She rubbed her eyes, slowly sitting up before stepping out of bed. She lazily walked out of the large bedroom and poked her head out of the door.

The first thing she saw was a boy. He was sitting at the piano and pounding out the theme song to some cheesy anime.

She walked up to him, the sound of a piano slowly getting louder and louder. She covered her ears, mumbling under her breath, “Goddamn, your piano playing sounds horrible!"

The boy didn’t acknowledge her, but he smirked and changed the song to a very complex one, probably Beethoven or Bach or something. His fingers flew across the keys with amazing speed and elegance as the song got faster and more complicated.

Her heart skipped a beat as she tried to process what was going on. “What the heck is going on?!” She voiced her thoughts, and started screaming, absolutely petrified.

He looked up calmly and--as if she wasn’t screaming--said, "I was just about to make breakfast, do you prefer pancakes, eggs, or cereal?"

'So this is what a mental breakdown feels like' she thought as she dumbly nodded. She didn’t know what to say. Poor Marinette was still trying to process what was going on. Play it cool Mari .  She smiled warmly at the boy “I like pancakes.”

The blond boy went to the kitchen area and took some premade batter from the fridge, he then poured it into a frying pan and turned the burner on to cook it.

Meanwhile, Marinette has started panicking in the corner, still trying to figure out what was happening. Just a few moments ago she was lying on a rooftop in her ladybug costume... Marinette looked down at her clothes. She wasn’t wearing it anymore.

The blond boy turned around. "It's done, come get a plate," he said warmly.

She snapped out of her thoughts again, focusing her attention on the boy. “Alright!” Walking over to him, she skipped a little in her steps. The smell of the pancakes made her feel giddy.

She was met with disappointment when realizing it wasn’t fully cooked. She lived in a bakery, she should know. “But...but it's raw! It needs to be cooked longer.”

"Oh, okay then!" He picked up the pan and went over to the fireplace in the living room. He then jumped into the fire.
