Chapter 1: Meeting the Villain

Chapter Text

There is a world, filled with people who have amazing abilities known as quirks. Quirks are a term used for people who have super human abilities, such as being able to control fire, levitation, flying or anything in between. Because of this super human society, it had created a great amount of chaos which was created by villains.

As such, that had created jobs for those who wanted to balance out the chaos, with justice. For it had created ‘heroes’ who wanted to stop the villains. To ensure the safety of the citizens. Those who wished to bring peace to those who needed a calming to their hearts and souls. Yet, lurking in the shadows is a villain that no one knows who he is. Living his life behind a mask.

Some say, that he lives among the citizens as a normal man. Trying to learn what he can about the city that he lives in so he could better rob and harm the innocent. Others say that he is being controlled, as he is nothing more than a puppet that is being controlled by a ‘mastermind’ the true mind behind the villain attacks.

Others say that he works solo, though there is no way of knowing what his true tale is. For there has never been a true moment of peace in this world. For this villain has known to cause nothing but fear to form in the hearts of the innocent. Then, there were those that have said that he has even killed in cold blood to get what he wanted. No matter if it was for himself, or for his so called master.

People call this man, a true monster. An unfeeling, silent monster…

But one person… changes everything.

The sound of an alarm ringing hit a young woman’s ears. Bleary green eyes slowly started to open as she reached over and hit the snooze on her phone. Yawning softly, the young woman pushed herself out of bed before stretching her arms above her head. Letting out a soft moan before looking out the window. “It’s a beautiful day out. Maybe I can gather more supplies for orders.” She said to herself before making her way to the bathroom.

Humming a soft tune to herself as she gazed at her reflection. Big, bright green eyes stared back at her. Her long green hair was a mess of tangles before she would brush her hair out of the way. It had been a few years since she had moved out on her own, and longer since she had started her own business. It had taken a long time before she could get the business afloat to allow herself to survive.

The young woman just smiled all the more as she took a deep breath. “Okay Midoriya Inko, you have some amazing orders coming in. Though I may have to sort out something to hire someone just so I can handle all those orders in the future. It’s getting overwhelming.” She let out a soft sigh before getting herself ready for the day.

Wearing a simple pink t-shirt with her shops logo on it and then of course a pair of black pants with matching black flats. Smiling all the more, the young woman grabbed something to eat on her way to work before making her way toward her shop.

As she walked down the street, the young woman couldn’t help but frown as she saw some TV’s playing in the electronic store. A news report about a known villain that had been terrorizing a few stores, stealing whatever he could. Inko couldn’t help but frown a little as she watched the news report.

It was something that had frightened her when it came to villains. She never knew when they would appear, no matter if they were to harm her, or others. But she knew that the heroes would help them all right? Inko couldn’t help but clench her hands in tight fists as she just stared at the TV as they kept playing the news.

There was no way of knowing when another attack would come out. In fact, it nearly frightened her all the more. No, she wouldn’t allow herself to be afraid of this. Inko wouldn’t allow herself to wallow in her fears for the time being. Shaking her head, the young woman kept her pace toward the shop.

Upon her arrival, she couldn’t help but smile up at the shop. The sign was of a white background with ‘Verdant Petals’ written in black but with green flower petals seeming to fly by the letters. She couldn’t help but smile a little before making her way up the stairs and unlocked the door before checking the messages that were left behind. Some of them were of course for orders, or about orders or about possible cancelations. Though, she would make sure to get those done as quickly as she could.

Taking a deep breath, the young woman made her way over to the cooler to get the flowers needed. Once at her desk, the young woman held out her hand, which glowed a bright pink with energy. Soon, she started to wave her hand, making a gesture for something to come toward her. Something lifted from a faraway counter before slowly starting to make its way toward her.

This was her quirk.

Which, unfortunately, was only able to summon anything that she could easily lift herself. Anything too big or heavy for her to lift, would end up not allowing her quirk to work for her. It was one thing that she had always hated about her power, but now it only allowed her to at least bring her tools toward her when she was busy with her orders.

Frowning a little, the young woman couldn’t help but sigh softly. Honestly, she felt like her life had little to no excitement. Of course, she loved her job, more than anything in the world but… at the same time she felt like she was missing out on something for her life. As for what that was, well, Inko had no idea as to what that was to say the least.

Turning her gaze to outside the young woman couldn’t help but frown when she saw so many people walking by. Most of them were either with friends, or were couples, or with their families. Not that Inko had a bad relationship with her family, far from it though at the same time she just wasn’t sure if they were any way for her to go see them. Letting out a soft sigh, the young woman went back to her orders.

Then of course, there was her friend Mitsuki. The two of them had been friends ever since they were children but she has been busy since she started dating her boyfriend.

’I guess… I’m lonely.’ Inko thought to herself. It made her heart ache at the thought of being lonely. Even though she would put up a front of being happy and she was. But, maybe she should try going out a little more often. Maybe on her next day off she’ll try to go out with Mitsuki if she was free or even just to go to a bar just to be social.

’That could work I guess…’ Inko thought softly before finishing one of the orders.

Honestly, the orders were getting done pretty quickly to say the least. Maybe she would finish up sooner than she thought she would, though at the same time maybe she would need to hire someone else to help with the shop just to help get the shop in order, as well as making sure to gather supplies that she would need for orders later on in the future.

Shaking her head, Inko stretched her arms above her head before she looked over at the windows as she saw more people walking by her shop.

Just as she picked up some roses to work on her final order for the day, the young woman winced. Looking at her hand, she saw that she had a few puncture holes on her palms. Sighing softly, the young woman made her way over toward the bathroom that was in the back of her shop and pulled out the first aid kit. At least they weren’t too bad, though just a little bit of blood seeped through the cuts but not overly bad either way. So that made her at least a little happy to say the least.

The sound of a phone ringing caught her ear. “Hm?”

Holding up her hand, Inko summoned her power to grab her cell phone. Not many people called her cell unless she was off work. Unless it was an emergency so that made her wonder a little. Once her cell was in her hand, she answered. “Hello?”

”Inko hi!” called out a familiar female voice.

“Hey Mitsuki, what brings on this call?” asked Inko.

“Well, I know you’re busy with work but I was wondering if you wanted to go out this weekend to hang out. I feel bad that we haven’t had a chance to hang out. I figured it’s something we both need now and again…” Mitsuki said with a smile that could easily be heard through the phone.

Inko hummed a little. Well, that does sound fun, and she hasn’t had anything planned to say the least. Plus, it would help with her being alone most of the time so that had to mean something right? Nodding to herself, the young woman calmly said “Sure, we can try to plan this more when I get off work. I have to make a stop at the bank though to drop off some cash to the store’s bank.”

”That’s fair enough. I’ll talk to you later okay?” Mitsuki said with a chuckle before adding ”Maybe we can even find you a man.”

“Mitsuki!” Inko shouted, her face tinting pink.

”What? You need someone in your life. You are a beautiful woman Inko, you just gotta let someone in your life is all.” Mitsuki said with a giggle. ”Anyway, gotta go. I’ll talk to you later!” With that, the line went dead, and Inko couldn’t help but frown as she looked at the phone. Could she even do that? She had a pretty bad experience back in high school. Her boyfriend of two years cheated on her for someone else and she hadn’t really gotten over that.

Letting out a soft sigh, the young woman leaned back in her seat before looking up at the clock. Yeah, she still had time before she had to get out of the shop.

Taking a deep breath, the young woman went back to work.

After closing up the shop for the day, the young woman set the keys in her purse as she started to make her way toward the bank. Which, thankfully wasn’t far from her shop and was on her way home. Humming as she did so, the young woman couldn’t help but wonder what she was to do. It just felt like everything in her life spiraled in some way. One of those ways was her being alone most of the time.

It was strange, to say the least. It had just felt like that everything was out to make sure that she couldn’t be happy and she wasn’t even sure why. Could be fate, could be destiny, or maybe it was waiting to bring something interesting into her life. She couldn’t really say what that could be, and that was what bothered her, no, more like it had confused her more than it could have ever done in her whole life.

Taking a deep breath, the young woman tried to relax her nerves. Unsure if she was just working herself up for something that wasn’t going to happen… or just getting herself worked up in general.

Letting out a deep sigh, she ran a hand through her long green hair hoping to calm herself down. Once she reached the bank, the young woman looked up and gave a small smile. “Day is almost over here.” Inko mumbled softly before walking inside. Digging around in her purse for her card, trying to make sure that she was ready when she got to the teller.

Letting out a grunt to show her being dissatisfied as she couldn’t help but wonder if she had somehow left her card at home. “That would be fantastic…” Inko mumbled with a sigh before she kept on digging around. Then, she finally pulled out her card and smiled happily. “Found it.”

Then the wall shattered, causing everyone in the line to be blown back against the opposite wall. Inko cried out in pain before she fell onto the floor and groaned. What the heck was that?

When she looked up, Inko felt fear etching itself onto her soul. Unable to look away as she stared at the tall and imposing figure walking into the bank through the hole in the wall. She just couldn’t help but stare, heart pounding and hammering within her chest in that moment. For walking into the bank was what she could only guess was a tall and very muscular man. He wore a tight dark blue shirt that clung to every muscle of his torso.

On his shoulders were pads that had spikes, most likely to ensure that no one could grab onto him should they have some kind of binding quirk that would require them to use their own limbs. Though she noticed the white belt that would connect by going from the left shoulder to the right, yet the belt itself remained over the man’s pecs.

Yet she also couldn’t help but think if the spikes on his shoulders, should he ram someone that he could easily impale someone.

The next thing she noticed, was the red belts on his biceps, and the one around his waist. Yet the one that was around his waist had what she could best describe as pouches. Most likely to hold onto special items that were best suited for his quirk. Though that was hard for her to say for the time being since she had no idea what his quirk was in the moment.

The next thing she noticed, was the dark green cargo pants. They were rather loose on him though in some way still framed his muscular legs though they seemed to be tucked into a pair of black combat boots. She couldn’t help but as she turned her gaze upward, she noticed a pair of matching black fingerless gloves, though they looked kind of padded… then she managed to look up at his face. Or, where she should have seen his face.

He had on a metal mask, the left half was orange while the right was grey, yet also had four spikes on both sides of the mask at the back of his head. The mask also had on a pair of goggles that were a matching shade of grey but the glass of the goggles were almost like one way glass, preventing anyone from seeing his eyes. The final thing that she noticed about his costume, was the breathing respirator. Why he would have something like that, she had no idea since she was sure that he never went under water in his thefts. Either way, she couldn’t help but stare at him in shock, was this the villain that had been going around stealing from banks and harming people? No, killing them?

Gulping in fear, Inko clutch her purse to her chest, watching as the villain looked around the bank, his gaze sweeping the surrounding area. As if making sure if he had hostages in the first place. It made Inko worry, thinking that this was going to be it. She would die and her family would be left to mourn for her, as would her friends.

Tightly shutting her eyes, she waited for death to claim her… and kept waiting… and waiting… yet nothing. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw that the villain was making his way toward the teller and set a sack on the counter. Slamming his fist on the counter, nearly shaking the entire room in the process.

Now Inko was thankful that she was on the ground right now or else she would have fallen.

Turning her gaze upward, she wondered why the villain wasn’t speaking. There had to be a reason for it right? Tilting her head a little in confusion, the young woman could only watch, she knew that she had seen him in the news before but couldn’t remember. Something about… a silent villain? She wasn’t sure…

Wait!

’Wait, they call him ‘The Silent Villain Goliath!’ He works by being silent, using his actions more than his words…’ Inko thought with wide eyes. Though if that was related to his quirk, she had no idea. For there was no known quirk that the villain had, other than his strength. Unsure as to what fate would await her. There was no way that he would allow them all too live would he? There was a good chance that he wouldn’t allow them to live once he got what he wanted.

As the teller was filling up the sack with money, one of the braver people pushed themselves up and tried to make a break for it.

Yet it seemed that the villain could easily hear the escapee as he quickly turned himself around and threw a punch. The force of air was powerful enough to throw the man against the wall. Inko of course screamed out in shock and fear as she looked at the person who just laid limp on the ground. Unsure if they were alive or not. She made her way closer to inspect them. Noticing that the person was actually a young man, hard to see as they wore a hoodie.

Narrowing her eyes, she saw that yes, he was still alive but it angered her that this villain would do something like that just because someone was scared and wanted to escape with their lives intact. Turning her gaze up at the villain, she shouted at him “Why would you do that?! He is just a kid and just wanted to get out of here! Why are you even doing this in the first place?! Haven’t you stolen enough money from hard working people as it is?!”

After her rant… it was in that moment that Inko felt like she had actually messed up. She had just put her life to an end in that moment.

The villain, Goliath, started to make his way toward her. Inko’s eyes were widening in shock and fear as she slowly backed herself away as best as she could. Only to find herself against a wall. Tightly shutting her eyes, Inko tried to shield herself with her arms. The stepping of the villain’s boots were getting closer and closer. She felt like the world was closing in on her in that moment. Unsure if she would even survive to see the sun rise or set! She didn’t know if she’d see her friend again.

Her heart was hammering within her chest in that moment.

When the boots stopped, she felt something grab her wrist and pulled her onto her feet. Inko let out a cry of shock and fear. The villain had pulled her to just stand upon her feet. Hunched forward so he would be more at level with her as he just stared at her. Before his gaze turned to her hand, looking at the bandages that she had used to tend to her thorn injuries. The only sound, other than her own heart beating in her ears, was the sound of the villain’s breathing.

Inko could only stare at him, her eyes wide and filled with fear yet, she was also trying to be defiant. “Let me go! You can’t keep doing this to people! You can’t keep hurting people just for your own personal gain! Look at these people, they have done nothing to you!” she shouted at him.

The villain tilted his head at her, as if he was confused about what it was that she was saying. Looking up at him in confusion, her anger suddenly starting to melt away Inko couldn’t help but frown a little. Could… could he even understand her? Or was it that he didn’t even speak Japanese? It baffled her, but she couldn’t help but to ask… “Do… Do you even understand what I’m saying?”

Goliath lowered his head a little, Inko was unsure if it was due to shame or something else. She was unsure as to what it was, though the young woman wanted to know for some reason. “Are… Are you trying to get back home? Is that why you’re doing all of this? Or, are you trying to fight for your own freedom?”

The villain tightened his hold a little on her hand, not enough to hurt her but enough for her to notice the difference. Though then she noticed that Goliath was now turning to stare at her hand, rubbing his thumb against her bandaged palm before he released his hold over her. Gently pushing down on her shoulder to get her to sit back down. After that, he looked over at the teller, grabbed the sack full of cash and managed to escape.

The only thing though that was on her mind… was what had just happened? It just didn’t make sense to her, why would he… act like that? Acting all gentle, confused and… concerned? She had no idea, but Inko didn’t think that she would ever find out to say the least. Maybe, it would be one of those things that she would never find out in her life. Just another one of life’s great mysteries.

Though, her heart was still pounding at what could have happened today.
