Work Text:

As much as she loved travelling with her thief, the TARDIS was bored, she wished for a way to experience the universe as her thief did, instead of hearing about his adventures second hand.

Oh, she loved visiting new planets and times, but it just didn't seem to compare to her thief's memories of his adventures.

On Earth, in 1979, her thief saved the lives of two humans, a witch and a wizard, she could tell that the witch was pregnant, which made her happy for the couple, but a second, deeper look, had her realising something.

The child would be stillborn.

On one of their trips, which would turn out to be their last, Lily, the name of the witch, would be knocked unconscious in her console room, left in her protection without anyone else around as her thief and James went to deal with their threat.

And she decided that she would both help the couple and get her wish at the same time.

Without anyone around to see, she opened her console and let a tiny part of her heart, of her very soul escape, directed to the body of Lily and the child inside, the energy settling quickly and starting the tiny heart that had never begun beating.

With that, the console closed, and they were left waiting for the Doctor and James to return.

Harry Potter didn't exactly wish to die at the age of seventeen, and yet it seemed there was no other way.

He stood there, staring down Voldemort as the being turned his wand to him and sent the killing curse his way.

Green light filled his vision, and in the forest, his body collapsed to the ground.

A different light, golden this time, was flung from his body, leaving the visible plane of existence, and entering the Vortex, slamming into a blue box.

The Doctor stared, wide-eyed, as the TARDIS door flung open, and bright golden light collided with the console, she shook violently for a solid fifteen minutes, in which the Doctor had to cling to the railings on the floor.

"What the?"

Once the shaking stopped, a burst of golden light escaped from her console once more and darted into the Vortex, the TARDIS quickly following.

When she'd landed, the Doctor made his way over to the still-open door and peered out at what had obviously been a battlefield.

Bodies were spread across the ground, but it seemed as though he'd already missed the battle itself, as people were gathering the dead for burials.

He turned around to question the TARDIS and was caught off guard as someone draped their entire bodyweight against him and proceeded to pass out.

He manoeuvred the boy into his arms and looked down at him, frowning, the boy looked like James Potter, a prior companion to himself, so he must have been his and Lily's child, but there was something else about him that was familiar.

And then it hit him, the golden light that had been so obviously a part of the TARDIS acting separately and also bringing them there?

The Doctor looked towards the console, "what did you do?"

A feeling of guilt, happiness, and mischief entered his mind, followed by images of what she'd done and why.

He took a deep breath and rubbed the bridge of his nose, "and does he know?"

A feeling of shrugging shoulders gave the impression of, "he does now."

"Right, okay," he lifted the boy into his arms and walked inside, shutting the door behind him, "okay, well, I'm going to go and put you, apparently, in the med bay."

He shot her console a look, "we're going to have a discussion about this, I hope you realise that."

The lights in the console room dimmed as though she were pouting.

He sighed.

This was going to be a nightmare; he could just tell.

The Stars That We Love

Harry had not been expecting to wake up, let alone wake up with the knowledge that he was also a 'TARDIS' who was also female, and that they were both alive at the same time, inhabiting the same mind, but not body.

It was highly confusing.

"Think of it like reincarnation," the part of his mind that was the TARDIS suggested, "I was around before you, and you were born of my soul."

Right, he nodded, reincarnation, he could deal with that.

He peered through his fingers, which he'd been rubbing over his face to look at the Doctor, their thief, who'd fallen asleep at the computer in the med bay, waiting for him to wake up.

The TARDIS gave him a mental poke, and Harry watched as he fell out of his chair and onto the floor.

"That's why you don't fall asleep at the med bay computers," he informed him, "I don't know how many times I've told you that."

The Doctor gaped at him before scrambling up and pushing him back onto the bed and began poking at him.

He made a noise of complaint, getting a poke to the forehead in return.

"I need to make sure you're not suffering adverse effects of your," he frowned, "gaining awareness of what you are, or is it was? But the TARDIS is still around, and so are you..."

"We're thinking of it as something similar to reincarnation," he informed him at the same time the TARDIS gave him a mental explanation.

"Right," the Doctor said, blinking, "that'll take some getting used to."

Harry sat in silence as they watched their thief mess about with the medical equipment, using it on Harry, after he gave him a vaccination, he turned to him.

"Well, you seem to be fine, it's just a bit..."

"Strange?" he offered, getting a nod in return, "nothing new there."

The Doctor snorted, "true."

Harry was sat on the floor of the console room, a mug of tea in his hand, and was pondering the duct tape wrapped around one of her wiring tubes when the Doctor came back from one of the trips he'd decided to sit out of.

Following behind him was an incredibly familiar face, and Harry winced, the lights in the room flickering slightly, mirroring his feelings.

He knew he'd forgotten to do something, and if that incredibly angry expression on her face was anything to go by, she hadn't exactly forgotten him either.

He tilted his head, the TARDIS feeling out the date, and compared it to when he'd been collected.

Three years, oh boy.

"Harry James Potter!" she cried out, "where the hell have you been?"

"I-"

"No, don't bother," she turned to face the Doctor, who looked at her in surprise, "how long have you been keeping him? We were worried sick! I thought you were a good person!"

Harry winced and stood, walking quickly to intercept her, "Hermione, he didn't kidnap or abduct me or anything."

She turned her furious glare on him, and he took a step back, "what, so you just left? You left your friends, those who care for you without so much as a 'goodbye' or an 'I need to go travelling for a while, I'll let you know when I'm back, I might be a few years', you just went!"

He shuffled awkwardly on the spot, glancing at the Doctor with wide eyes, getting a shrug in return, the TARDIS decided to intervene, connecting with Hermione, and explaining quickly to her what had happened.

Harry looked at his shoes in embarrassment as she did so, projecting his side of the story once it was done.

The Doctor raised an eyebrow at him once it was over, and he shrugged.

"Oh Harry," she sighed, "what is your life?"

He smiled at her slightly, "at least it's not nearly as chaotic as our thief's."

"Oi, I'll have you know that you're the one who keeps bringing me to the chaos!"

He grinned at him, "but you're the one who chooses to go out and explore!"

They glared at each other for a moment before they broke down laughing, the console chirping along.

"What have I signed up for?" Hermione groaned.

The doors shut and the engines started up, seemingly by themselves, and the Doctor looked over at him.

"Where are you taking us to now?"

He grinned, "I have a craving for ice cream."

The landing was soft, and the Doctor ushered Hermione to the door, Harry taking up the rear.

She walked out and gaped.

"The floor is ice cream?"

"Welcome to the universe's largest ice cream scoop," the Doctor informed her, passing her a spoon from the information desk they'd parked next to, "dig in."

Harry glared at the man at her console from where he was tied up on the ground.

The Master's tying skills were surprisingly good, and he was having trouble undoing them, he could feel the part of himself that was the TARDIS trying to fight back, but slowly getting overwhelmed, and knew it was only a matter of minutes before it spread to his side of their mind.

"Oh?" the Master spoke, surprised, "what's this now?"

Harry felt his stomach drop, as he noticed him looking at him, a curious look in his eyes.

"These medical files say that the Doctor's TARDIS allowed herself to take on a second, human form?" he pressed his thumb down hard on one of the buttons, sending a spike of pain through their bond, causing him to cry out, "how interesting."

The Stars That We Love

As he worked on cannibalising the TARDIS, changing her into a paradox machine, twisting and warping her into something she shouldn't be, he also worked on Harry, who's mind was being twisted along with the TARDIS.

Once the Doctor had turned up, and the paradox machine turned on, the Master's reign began.

After two days, the Doctor cracked and asked about him.

"I was wondering when you'd ask that," he grinned and pulled out a laptop, pulling up security footage of what appeared to be an apartment of some kind.

He plucked a phone from one of his pockets, dialling a number and speaking into it once it had connected, "send in one of the prisoners."

The Doctor watched, as a human in his twenties was thrown inside, the door locked behind him, he looked on in confusion until he saw a figure emerge from behind a sofa.

His hair was longer and far wilder than the last time he'd seen him, and he seemed to wobble where he stood, as though drugged.

The human approached him, obviously worried, and the Doctor watched in horror as Harry launched himself at him, tearing him limb from limb.

He watched as he bit down into the man, seemingly not caring for what he was eating.

The Master grinned, "took me ten months to get him to actually eat them, you know?"

The Doctor felt sick as the lid was shut by the Master.

The Stars That We Love

Fixing the paradox machine did not mean that the TARDIS, and thus Harry, were miraculously better.

Their mind had been so horribly violated, and they had a hard time telling friend from foe or in Harry's case, edible from non-edible.

Harry often locked himself in his room, located right next to the engine room, and the Doctor often had to bring him food, he had a hard time eating meat now, too scared that it was human flesh, although he knew it was not, the Doctor would never do that to him.

The recovery was slow going, and the Doctor kept them away from Earth for quite a long amount of time, long enough for them to realise that Harry was not ageing.

A few more years and an accident later led to them discovering that he also could not die.

By the time they finally returned, Harry was recovered as well as he could be.

It was still up in the air on if the TARDIS could die, or if it extended to her too.

The Stars That We Love

By the end of their first day back on Earth, the Doctor had picked up that human who'd somehow ended up in her console room on the day of her wedding.

The Doctor moved around her console room happily, pointing out the different things that she shouldn't touch, such as all of the buttons on her console.

Harry smiled slightly, and the lights overhead shone brightly.

It seemed that things were once again, back to normal-

One of the switches on her console sparked and set on fire, the Doctor cursed, and Donna screamed.

-yep, definitely back to normal.

Notes:

Yep, I'm still writing some of those suggestions.

Some of them I'm really interested in, but am having issues coming up with something to write for them, so who knows, I might write one of them one day.
