Work Text:
In the body of little Ariana Dumbledore falls adult, but not yet elderly Katara.
I ASK YOU TO LOOK AT THE TAGS, THEY EXPLAIN A LOT, (if something is not clear-write, I will answer as soon as I can)
* Ariana's age at the time of the hit is your choice, but before her death. She is about 7-8 years old
* Katara is about 50, she has already given birth to Bumi, Kaya and Tenzin, and by this time, Aang seems to have died
At first, Katara can not understand what and how, when she gets angry, objects start flying around her (she has spontaneous emissions, her personality is now different), she also can not use the magic of water and blood.
She lives with an adult woman (Kendra Dumbledore) and some young men who call her sister, and although one (Albus) of them is strange and eccentric, the second (Aberforth) is almost the same, only harmful and sarcastic, in the second she sees the traits of Sokka's character and becomes attached to him.
* Albus goes to Hogwarts (if Ariana is 8 years old), or spends another year at home, and only then receives a letter from Hogwarts. Probably, it would be better for the plot if Katara got into the body of Ariana when the latter was 7 years old, so that she could better understand the characters of the members of " her family"
Over time, she adapts and gradually gets used to the new world for her. Despite the fact that she has not been able to find contact with her new mother(*1) and one of the older brothers(*2), with Aberforth, they developed more than a warm relationship, albeit not immediately. They were (physically) closer in age and Aberforth treated her much less leniently than Kendra and Albus. In addition, when Percival (the father of Albus, Aberforth and Ariana) attacked the Muggle boys, Aberforth was only 7 years old, and he remembers these events worse than Albus, and therefore is more loyal to Ariana/Katara. After some time, he explains to her that she is not like all children-magicians and is unlikely to be able to use magic normally (perhaps he himself had an outburst of magic or something else, the reason for the conversation can be any) and Ariana/Katara tells him about minor outbursts of magic (the original Ariana did not have them, after the incident with the boys who bullied her). Thus, Aberforth and Ariana/Katara form the most trusting relationship in the Dumbledore family. Ariana/Katara, seeing how everyone treats her, asks Aberforth not to tell anyone about her abilities, and he agrees.
*1 - Kendra treats her as her own, somewhat unusual daughter and perceives Ariana/Katara as a little girl. In principle, this is logical, but Katara is an adult woman. And Katara, of course, did not tell anyone that she was not the original Ariana, and therefore tried to understand what behavior her relatives expected from her, and reproduced it. She couldn't be honest with Kendra, and since she was mentally older, she didn't see her as a mother. Their relationship remained quite cold, at least on Ariana's/Katara's part
*2 - Albus certainly loved her as his sister, but he perceived Ariana/Katara as a somewhat crazy girl, and probably unconsciously blamed her for their father's going to Azkaban, besides, having entered Hogwarts/preparing for admission to Hogwarts, he was focused on academic knowledge and magic. Ariane (who is Katara) initially did not particularly like him, in the end they became estranged from each other
When Albus enters Hogwarts, Ariana/Katara and Aberforth become the only children in the house and, given that their mother has to provide them somehow, they spend a lot of time together. Aberforth tells Ariana/Katara about the magical world, about the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, about how magic works (perhaps some elementary spells). Ariana/Katara tries to develop her abilities without having a wand (for example, she moves objects, changes one food to another, changes the color of objects, and so on) and discovers that when she was able to cast local magic, her native water magic began to return to her.
Aberforth may not have been as brilliant as Albus, but I don't think he was a fool from a magical point of view. Thus, the Dumbledore brothers and sisters begin the path of preschool self-education. I'm almost 100 percent sure that children from magical families start learning magic before Hogwarts (if they want to, of course). Since the Dumbledores are a magical family, they definitely have some books about magic, and possibly about teaching magic. Kendra, busy with work and chores around the house (did the Dumbledores have a house elf? I do not know) and work, was not particularly interested in reading and children's employment, and Ariana and Aberforth took any fairy tales to cover up. Given that Aberforth wasn't much of a reader, he sometimes helped his mother with the housework (that's where the love of animals comes from), and Ariana/Katara with the housework where she could (her mother still views her behavior with suspicion, but thinks Ariana has survived the trauma and is recovering). Thus, there were no suspicions about the mother's sudden interest in studying. While Albus is at Hogwarts, he and Aberforth figure out how to hide their hobbies, because Albus does not know about his sister's acquired normality and, Ariana/Katara thinks he doesn't have to.
In public (in the presence of the inhabitants of the Hollow who knew about it and, accordingly, in the presence of Albus) Ariana/Katara plays a silly girl who does not have the ability to cast magic. The time of admission to Hogwarts is getting closer and closer. And then I came up with 2 options for the development of the plot
1-Ariana/Katara pretends that she can't do magic properly and magic drives her crazy (everyone thinks so, except Aberforth, respectively) and there is no question of any admission to Hogwarts. Then, Ariana/Katara, wanting to learn magic, but not wanting to reveal the truth to her family, together with Aberforth, come up with a plan to make everyone think that Ariana is in a special hospital for people who have problems with magic and its control, but in fact write a letter to Beauxbatons (since it is the closest to England of all the known 11 schools of magic and accepts foreign students), for Ariana's admission/The Cathars. I think it will be easy to deceive Albus, because he is not interested in Ariana's life in principle. But how they will manage to deceive Kendra, I can not imagine, and I leave it to the author who will undertake to write such a thing)))
In the hospital, she allegedly gets better and sometimes in the summer she is allowed to go home, but not for all 3 months.
As I recall, according to the canon, when Ariana is 14 years old, she will accidentally kill her mother. If nothing comes up, maybe Kendra will die before Ariana's/Katara's 11th birthday, so that there are no problems with deception (I feel like a tough-ass and a killer, but what you can't do for the sake of trying to be realistic and logical in the narrative). Entering Beauxbatons, she does not know French, but I think there are certain magic items or spells for this. In the summer, she either stays in Beauxbatons (if allowed), or lives somewhere away from Godric's Hollow. Perhaps she is financially supported by Aberforth, perhaps she works herself, perhaps both at the same time.
2-Ariana/Katara behaves more calmly and logically, thus showing that everything is fine with her and at the age of 11 she enters Hogwarts. Not to Gryffindor, though. The faculty is at the discretion of the author, but I was thinking about Ravenclaw. In the Avatar universe, Katara always had a desire to learn something new, she became a Master of water magic, could control plants, was an excellent healer and mastered blood magic. I think her favorite disciplines might be Charms, Potions, DADA, Herbology, and Ancient Runes. In any case, she does not reveal her intelligence and her skills to Albus, pretending that she is well versed in the theory of objects, but in practice she can not really do anything. She also keeps her "other" abilities a secret from everyone except Aberforth.
And everything would be fine, quiet and peaceful, but then Gellert Grindelwald appears.
Ariana/Katara doesn't like him is even bigger than Albus. While Albus himself is literally crazy about his new friend. Ariana/Katara is even more diligent in playing the unintelligent girl, especially when Gellert is present in their house. The latter, not being as blind as Albus, suspects her and watches her, but the experience is on Ariana's/Katara's side, and Grindelwald due to the lack of any evidence of Ariana's/Katara's lies switches completely to Albus.
Once upon a time, when Ariana/Katara (aged 13-14) was in Godric's Hollow Aberforth had to go somewhere (your fantasy) and he left Albus in charge, but that summer the guy was not at all up to the strange sister and when Aberforth returned he found that Albus did not care about Ariana at all/Qatar. This infuriated him and made him very angry. In the end, Aberforth rebuked Albus for not paying enough attention to Ariana/Katara also quipped that he seemed to love Gellert more than his own sister. He started talking about their experiments in dark magic and their "grand plans". Aberforth and Albus had been arguing in front of Grindelwald, and Gellert, calling Aberforth a stupid boy who had gotten in the way of his brilliant brother, had said something about Ariana, too. Aberforth whipped out his wand and wanted to start a duel, but Gellert was faster at that moment, as the younger Dumbledore howled in pain under the influence of the Cruciatus. And then Albus stood up for his brother, and Ariana came running like an arrow to Aberforth's screams. No sooner hd Albus and Gellert started a really serious duel than Ariana/Katara, seeing what was happening, lost all her famous control and full of anger, rage and the desire to kill, with a quick movement of her hand (using blood magic*), nailed Gellert to the wall and twisted him (as she did in the series "The Southern Raiders").
She was very fond of Aberforth, and she wasn't going to let anyone, much less some obscure FUCKING GERMAN**, hurt someone she truly loved.
Within seconds, she regained her composure and quickly realized that she had made a fool of herself by showing off her strength. She stops the magic and quickly takes Aberforth to the bathroom to heal his cruciatus wounds and discuss the situation with him. This is no longer noticed, Albus and Gellert are in prostration, the latter is also crushed. Then Ariana/Katara, explaining what happened, will say that she was afraid for Aberforth and could not control magic - in general, she will write off everything on a spontaneous release, but not Albus, not Gellert will not believe her, but there will be no proof of lies again.
What's next is up to you, but the key pairing is Ariana / Gellert
* - Katara was a great master of water, and for all her dislike of blood magic, I'm sure she could use it outside of the full moon.
** - I have no facts that Gellert was a German, but for some reason I see him as a German and from Old German his name can be translated as "enslaving force" (Grindelwald).
Additional information:
* Katara is already an adult, and the world sensibly estimates that she was almost 50 years old at the time of the transfer. She was in the war, she is the best medic and master of water in the world. However, the child's body can not but influence her worldview. Ingoda may behave like a child, but not always. After her childhood and early youth, she had become attached only to Aberforth.
* Katara had no reason to dislike Albus, but her intuition screamed danger, and she listened. In fact, it was because Albus even at a young age had a very bright magical background and Katara felt it, but unknowingly could not explain it to herself in any way, except by intuition(although her intuition is really developed).
* I don't believe that in the end Katara never used blood magic - a very useful thing, especially during operations.
* Gellert is a blonde bitch, and Katara won't make him super good. I would like to see their confrontation, Gellert's interest and Katara's dislike. Gradual immersion, so to speak. Katara's respect for Gellert's abilities and vice versa. Gellert's dislike of Katara because of his close relationship with such a "fool" (according to Grindelwald, in fact, the average Dumbledore is far from a fool) like Aberforth.
* When they get older, all this nonsense begins, because Gellert already sees in her a beautiful (and most importantly not stupid and magically strong) girl, and she judges from the height of ALL her years and considers him a self-confident boy, with some kind of psychotrauma from childhood, and he reminds her so much of the harmful Lord of Fire.
* AU, Fix-it: because as with the no-dead Ariana, the canon will definitely not go, so it turned out, something will clearly change.
*AU: Ariana had no water, plant, or blood magic.
* Underage: maybe she and Gellert will get it together before she turns 17.
* gorgeous scoundrel: Gellert is a bitch, and he's really cruel. He threw crucio at a teenager, was expelled from his school, and was feared by all of Europe, not just England(as in the case of Voldemort). He is also a great liar and manipulator, and has never been a madman.
* dormant abilities: until Katara began to work with ordinary magic, the magic of the elements was beyond her control.
* Love/Hate: Because the relationship didn't improve after that fight. Katara wanted to kill Gellert because he had dared to attack her beloved brother Aberforth, and Gellert was not going to be so quick to forgive her for attacking him, even though he was seriously impressed.
* denial of feelings: Katara can't accept that she likes a scoundrel like Grindelwald, because Aang was so different. And she considered him her first and only love(destroying this image). Gellert, knowing full well how Albus feels about him, manipulates it, and his own feelings don't fit into his calculation at all.
* relationship development, slowburn, romance, complicated relationships - I WANT EVERYTHING GRADUALLY. no need to rush. logical and slow romance - that's what I'm asking for.
*control of the elements-Katara-mag water, respectively, steam, ice, snow, blood and water itself. Given its potential... She has every chance of becoming like Mary Sue. However, let it not be all at once. She trains a lot, practices, learns spells, and learns to re-control the water.
This is just an idea and you can change all of the above at your own discretion)
in the future, the rating may change :)
I apologize for all the errors and inaccuracies in the text. English is not my native language.
I will be glad if someone will undertake to write something similar and I am ready to provide all possible help)))
