Chapter 1: Voldemort's Grandson (ver. 1, part 1)

Chapter Text

(harry's pov, just fyi)

Harry's head was spinning. This in and of itself was not unusual, as he'd had some interesting experiences over the past few years, but this definitely topped Harry's list of weird things he never thought he'd see. Apparently, someone had liked Voldemort enough to have a kid with him. Then that kid was a Squib, but the girlfriend/wife had hidden her daughter away.

Then Voldemort murdered her, which surprised absolutely no one. Dumbledore, who was currently explaining the situation to the Order, who looked about as good as Harry currently felt. The elderly professor continued, explaining that Voldemort's granddaughter had been adopted by Muggles and raised normally in America, which allowed her to remain unscathed in the war against Voldemort. Later on, she had a son who was displaying magical qualities, which lead to their current issues.

With everyone sufficiently shocked and nauseous, Dumbledore beckoned for Harry, Sirius, and Lupin to follow him, leading them outside.

"We're traveling to the Jackson's home shortly. Please refrain from killing anyone on sight, or shouting loudly. America has an abundance of paperwork that I, quite frankly, do not feel like dealing with," Dumbledore said, his eyes less sparkly than normal.

Holding out a book, the four wizards laid a finger on it, feeling the usual Portkey sensation that made most people want to lose their lunch (or breakfast, in this case). They landed roughly on a broken sidewalk in the middle of a city - strangely, nobody paid them much attention.

Lupin was the first to gain his bearings and look around.

"New York? Voldemort's daughter and grandson live here?" Lupin asked, looking surprised.

"Yes, I believe their residence is right, yes, right over here," Dumbledore responded after looking around, pointing toward one of the apartment buildings.

Dumbledore led Harry and the others into the apartment building, opting for the stairs, as the elevator was decked out with a large OUT OF ORDER sign. After a few flights, Dumbledore stopped suddenly, causing a slight domino effect of tripping people.

"Here we are!" Dumbledore said, smiling while rapping the door three times.

Instead of a banshee hag with snakes for hair and bright red eyes answering the door, Harry was surprised to see a perfectly nice looking woman open the door. She had blue eyes that appeared to change in the light, and brown hair that had a few grey hairs here and there. The one thing that didn't match her overall "kindly mother" vibe was the dark circles under her eyes, which Harry was all too familiar with. She did however, wear a flowery apron with smudges of chocolate on it over her blue top and brown pants. A wedding ring sparkled on her left had, which Harry probably should have expected, had his mind not been so blown by the whole situation.

Dumbledore cleared his throat. "You must be Sally. We are here about your grandfather, as well as your son, Perseus."

"Of course! Come in," Sally smiled, but it didn't quite reach her eyes, and she led them inside.

"Is Percy here? He should really be here when we talk about this," Dumbledore said, sitting down on the couch in the living room with Remus and Sirius. Harry opted to stand, not really feeling like being squished between Dumbledore and Sirius.

"That's sort of a problem as of right now. He's been missing for nearly.." Sally explained, but her sentence was finished by a blonde girl who walked in the room and picked up a blue cookie from the plate on the coffee table.

"Eight months, three weeks, a day, seven hours, and," she glanced at a clock, "twenty eight seconds."

This was new information to everyone, as while they had expected some apprehension, they had not been expecting that he would be missing.

"And who may you be, my dear," Dumbledore inquired, clearly curious about this girl who came in and cited a number down to the seconds.

"I'm Annabeth Chase. Percy and I are dating," she answered.

Clearly not expecting that, Lupin asked the question that everyone was now thinking, "How...how long?"

Annabeth looked unsurprised by the question, and answered with ease. "We've known each other since we were twelve, but we started dating on his birthday. Four months before he disappeared," adding on the last bit when noticing the look on Sirius' face, which was akin to a confused dog.

Dumbledore looked amused by this exchange, before reluctantly starting on the reason they were there. "My dear, I am afraid there's no real way to break this gently, but my colleagues and I are from a world of magic, and are what you would know as wizards."

Instead of looking absolutely shell shocked, or yelling, or just saying "No", both Sally and Annabeth looked thoughtful.

"Huh. Not what I was expecting, but not the weirdest thing I've ever heard," Sally said, also taking a cookie from the plate.

Lupin looked extremely confused, and voiced the thought in everyone's head, "You believe us? Just like that?"

Annabeth answered, as Sally had a mouthful of cookie. "We have weird lives, and wizards aren't nearly was weird as what we're about to drop on you."

"And, what, my dear, may that be?" Dumbledore asked, looking confused for the first time ever in his life.

"Okay - the Greek myths? Way more real than most people think. The gods however, are exactly as, um, promiscuous, as they're portrayed, so Percy and I are two of their kids."

If finding out Voldemort had a family was a bomb, then this was a nuclear warhead. Harry's head was absolutely melting at this point, wishing that Hermione had come on this mission with him. Apparently, his companions had similar looks on their faces, so Sally swallowed the last bit of her cookie and continued to explain.

"I met Percy's father when I spent a weekend on the beach. I didn't know he was the Greek god of the sea when I met him, but I put the dots together, and I've been protecting him ever since. And if you don't believe us, that's completely understandable, but I think Annabeth has a better solution to that than I do."

Annabeth nodded. "I'm a daughter of Athena - goddess of wisdom, so I completely understand why you'd need more of an explanation than that."

Then, as if Harry's mind wasn't already melting, Annabeth launched into an explanation of adventures that she and Percy, as well as other people whose names absolutely did not stay in Harry's brain for more than three seconds. Once Annabeth had finished, looking weirdly nonchalant for someone who had just described a full out war with a dude who ate his kids, Dumbledore opened his mouth to speak. However, before he could, a screen of mist appeared in front of the television.

"Who's there? I didn't accidentally call another pizza place, did I?" a male voice emitted from the mist, which was slowly focusing.

"We both know that wasn't an accident, Travis. What's up?" Annabeth asked, looking like this was an everyday occurrence. (In hindsight, Harry realized it probably was).

"Ummm, Leo said something in his complicated engineering language. I really don't know anything he was talking about, but he cussed with words I haven't heard since that one winter solstice during that argument about who Rhea loved most. Like, he rhymed them. Even I can't rhyme-"

Annabeth cut him off before he could repeat whatever 'Leo' had said. "I'm on my way back now, I'll try and rush".

She turned back to them, mentioning that it must be important, or else the dude, Travis, Harry thought his name was, wouldn't have risked 'mortals' seeing.

As she left, the wizards followed her with their eyes.

Dumbledore managed to regain his train of thought first, and addressed Sally, "So, where were we.."
