Chapter Text
They started running as fast as they could, not daring to look back. At some point, their hands got linked together and Shigaraki was letting Dabi lead him, trusting the other with his life.
None of them were sure where they were going, they just knew that if they stopped right now, there wouldn’t be another chance like this one. So, even if they were tired as hell, they ran.
They could hear the police cars and helicopters behind them and the white haired couldn’t help but think of Spinner’s favorite game, Grand Theft Auto. He enjoyed playing it with his friend sometimes, but living the real situation wasn’t something he was enjoying much.
“Just a little bit more!” The leader heard Dabi shouting, then squeezed his hand in response.
This part of the city was still completely devastated, courtesy of Gigantomachia. Shigaraki couldn’t be there to see the damage being done, but just seeing the consequences was enough to make him smile.
However, he remembered everything he went through when he was arrested and the smile left his face quickly. His quirk…
“Here!”
Shigaraki was suddenly pulled somewhere dark and the only thing he heard was a door closing behind them. Dabi stopped running and Tomura saw that as an opportunity to take a deep breath, never letting his guard down. They weren’t out of the woods yet.
“Where are we?” Tomura asked between deep breaths, starting to look around.
The place was too dark for him to see anything, but it looked like it was an empty room. The concrete walls looked too much like the ones on his cell, too much like the walls that kept him away from his goals, from his friends…
“Dabi…”
Before he could say anything, the raven linked their hands one more time and started guiding them further into the place. Without much trouble, Dabi lit up one of his fingers, using it as a source of light, looking around the room. It was empty, after all.
“Just like the last time I was here.” The older one whispered, but Shigaraki heard it anyway.
“Where are we?”
Dabi didn’t answer, instead he walked for a while and stopped out of nowhere, dropping the other’s hand. The raven got on his knees and started to try and wipe the dust from the ground. At first, Tomura thought the other was just preparing the floor to lie down, but then he saw a door handle, right there on the ground.
With a bit of effort, Dabi was able to open it and the door led to a staircase. Tomura didn’t like it one bit, but he followed Dabi nonetheless. He would follow the raven anywhere if it meant they would stay together.
After a few minutes of walking down the steps, they were finally on hard ground again. The raven’s fire wasn't enough to light up the place, but then he walked a few steps ahead and Shigaraki heard the sound of a light switch being turned on.
A pale light washed the room and finally, Tomura was able to look around. There was a bed in the corner, a table with two chairs right beside an electric stove and a minifridge. There was some garbage on the ground, even though there was a trash can right beside the table.
“Where are we?” Tomura asked while hugging his own body, the prison’s clothes not being enough to keep him warm.
Dabi didn’t answer him one more time, walking to the fridge and opening it. There were little water bottles inside it with a bit of canned food, not enough for more than a week. Dabi tossed one of the bottles at Shigaraki’s direction and the leader was fast to start drinking the liquid inside it. He didn’t even realize he was so thirsty until he felt the first drop of water touching his tongue.
Both of them were silent, drinking down every last bit of water inside those bottles. It had been a long day with too much running.
When they finished, Dabi threw both of the things in the trash and then walked to bed, sitting down and staring at Tomura for a while. Shigaraki would never admit it, but he had missed Dabi so much, he just wanted to get closer to the other and press their bodies close, so that the raven would never be able to get away from him ever again.
“So we were the only ones that survived, huh?” the older one said a bit too low, Shigaraki almost missed it.
The leader started walking in the other’s direction and sat down beside his partner in crime, both exchanging looks. “Seems like it.”
Tomura started searching the other’s face for any bruises, but found nothing. It was just like the last time they saw each other, maybe a bit thinner. “I don’t even know if we can call ourselves lucky.”
Shigaraki hummed in response, not wanting to say much. They were supposed to be dead, just like their comrades, but they managed to escape. Shigaraki didn’t even know how, he just knew that suddenly Dabi was there with him and they were running for their lives, hand in hand.
“You think they even killed Toga?” he wasn’t sure why he asked. He already knew the answer.
They were both quiet for a while, only hearing each other’s breathings. The place was too quiet, Tomura swore he could even hear Dabi’s heartbeat, but maybe it was his own. He wasn’t sure of anything anymore.
“This place is safe,” the raven said and laid down on the bed, eyes closing as soon as his head touched the pillow. “Don’t worry about them finding us, they won’t.”
“You aren’t gonna tell me where we are, are you?” The white haired tried taking an answer out of the other one more time, but it was in vain. Dabi remained quiet, and Shigaraki almost thought he was asleep, but he knew the other very well.
With a deep breath, Tomura lied down too, trying to be as far away from Dabi as he could. He had missed his friend so much, but he didn’t want to scare him away by touching him or something. Dabi had never been fond of touches ever since the beginning, so Tomura wasn’t going to risk it.
They could hear each other’s breathings and after a few minutes, Shigaraki thought Dabi was already asleep, so he turned around, facing the other. The raven had his eyes closed and his chest was moving slowly. Without thinking much, Tomura touched it, feeling the other’s heartbeat against his palm. He didn’t even realize, but tears started streaming down his face and he closed his fist around Dabi’s t-shirt. “He’s here, he’s alive, you’re not alone.” He whispered to himself.
Tomura closed his eyes and tried to sleep, but couldn’t bring himself to. He was so afraid Dabi was gonna slip away through his fingers, he was so afraid he would be alone once again, alone with his thoughts, without his…
Suddenly he felt the raven hugging his body closer, pressing Tomura’s back to his chest, arms embracing the leader’s hips. “Stop crying, creep.” Dabi whispered and touched his lips to the other’s nape, making Tomura shiver. Without thinking much, he tangled their legs together and closed his eyes. “I’m right here, I’m not gonna leave you.”
The leader felt himself relaxing and nodded a bit, feeling another kiss being pressed to his skin, but this time Dabi had brought his hand to his lips, kissing it gently. “Dabi…” Tomura whispered, but the raven shushed him.
“Let’s just sleep, okay? We can sort everything out in the morning.”
Tomura nodded and both stayed silent. The tiredness of the day started hitting Shigaraki hard. However, before he slept, he heard the other whispering to his ear, “I’m glad you’re okay.”
Then everything went black.
