Cold but warm

Summary:

Fafnir finally finding a place he could call home.

Work Text:

Things have finally settled in peace, with no more turmoil in the world Fafnir had stayed. Time feels as if it had flew by, for it had been a year since he had been in that World. Now, a second Christmas was approaching around the corner, the sound of bells chiming and joyous songs abundant in the air.

The sound of the wind chime at the door no longer ringing, as the cold snowstorm had stucked them indoor. Snow piled up at the front door and the warm kotatsu somehow fitting inside the cramped apartment room.

The mellow light from the light bulb they had to replace soon, the ambiance of the Winter air, the common noise from the television, and Fafnir's lower body settled underneath the kotatsu. A dragon had no need for rest, yet it seems very suitable for him at the moment.

Fafnir softly closed his worn out eyes, as his legs did not fit inside the kotatsu he curled his legs with a tired groan. The world had become quiet.

Sleeping is a wonder, even for a dragon like him. Sleeping makes you unaware and vulnerable to your surroundings. Which is why sleeping had never been an option for a cursed dragon like him, he must after all, guard his treasures for a time longer than an eternity.

Some beings even, dragons spend almost hundreds of years sleeping. Era's passes and the world would change right before their eyes.

Then in the solitude of his sleep he begun to wonder... Why does he feel safe enough? Safe enough to come into a rest, whenever he is with Takiya?

Takiya is an inferior being, a human and is an enemy. But Takiya is also... Important. Takiya gave him a home. A warm kotatsu in winter, shelter him from the rain during summer, and they continuously supported one another.

Little by little, he had begun to change. For he had even been able to enjoy the simple wonders of a sleep. Takiya, is an enigma.

Then a thought flashed in Fafnir's mind.

One day, Takiya will surely die. He will open his eyes into a world, a world without Takiya.

Fafnir immediately opened his eyes as he woke up in the same room, everything was in place except Takiya was not with him. Fafnir cursed himself as he run out of the door.

Running and running aimlessly in the town he had grown accustomed to, with Takiya only in his mind. If Takiya were to be gone, he would surely... Surely, descend to madness.

Let the world burn into ashes, and slowly burn himself as he join Takiya.

Takiya. He loves Takiya.

He stopped in his tracks as he almost let out a laugh. A dragon falling in love with a human. A mere human... But Takiya was not a mere human.

Takiya, is his friend. As much as he had hated the word, he knew better than anyone Takiya was someone irreplaceable. The human who never showed an ounce of fear, disrespect or had even took chance over him.

Instead, Takiya is a warm person. Who gave him shelter, not as a duty to shoulder for eternity but a home. A place he felt happy, familiar and peaceful.

But he also knew better than most, that he could not contain Takiya's life into his hands. Takiya is a man, and had a responsibility to continue his bloodline. One day, Takiya will find a woman, whom he'll bear children's with. Takiya would have found himself his own home. A home where a dragon like Fafnir would never belong to.

"Its funny... I am a dragon, I can burn this world so easily without wasting energy and I also have the thickest strongest scales. Yet why am I feeling cold?" Fafnir murmured to himself as he glanced up to the sky, as snow fell once more.

Little white particles falling to his face as it slowly melts at his skin, the howling winds and he was reminded of the cave he once settled in. In that dark lonely cave where he trapped himself in with the mountainous treasures that held no value to him. Takiya, was almost like a ray of light brought to him by surprise. How a trivial meeting led him to loving someone.

Maybe Takiya had even saved him from that cave and... Now, Takiya had saved him once more in midst of the cold winter as the said man approached him from behind, with an umbrella at hand, "Faf-kun?"

"Takiya?" Fafnir almost thought he had been hallucinating, but then Takiya's mouth gape as he took Fafnir's hands into his.

Fafnir felt relief for it was not an illusion. "Your hands are really cold... Lemme warm them up for you." Takiya brows knit together as he rubbed his own hands before returning back to Fafnir's ice cold hand.

Fafnir softly chuckled, he was a being who could easily burn everything's existence and now he was being warmed up by a human whose hands were smaller and less capable than his. But he didn't mind, at all.

"In the first place, what are you doing outside? Its very cold today you know... Seriously, you should have just stayed at home." Takiya rambled as he went on full parental mode scolding Fafnir thoroughly.

'Home... Everywhere as long as he is there, that is home.' Fafnir smiled as Takiya stopped on his lecture as soon as he saw that sight. Fafnir in midst of the snow with eyes almost sparkling like Christmas and his eyes held a warmth that slowly made its way up to Takiya's own heart. They had a connection.

"Takiya... Thank you... For bringing me home." Fafnir took Takiya's reddened hands into his as he slowly permeate their skins with a heat, not to scald their skins but to make them both feel... At home.

"Thank you too, for staying Faf-kun." Takiya's eyes meets Fafnir's. They had a lot to say in their hearts and the words they could never convey with their mouths. But just with their eyes it was enough, as soon as their hearts would connect, nothing can convey the words even better.

The two of them embraced each other, the umbrella falling softly on the ground as they wrapped themselves in their arms. Somehow, their hearts felt like it was tingling a ticklish feeling blooming in their chest and their lips can't help it but smile.

"Merry Christmas." Fafnir greeted out of nowhere as Takiya softly laugh.

"That's still weeks from now..." Takiya giggled as he pat Fafnir's head, and the dragon accepted it wholeheartedly as he smile.

"Then spend this year's Christmas and the next with me... And also the next after that." Fafnir ordered as Takiya smile, taking Fafnir's hand with his as they made their way back to their apartment.

"Of course... I'll spend all my Christmas with you. I love you, Faf-kun." Takiya shyly added and the two refused to look at one another as Takiya blush to himself.

"I also love you." Fafnir replied moments later as he pulled Takiya to his chest, leaning down slowly as he kissed Takiya in the lips.

Takiya was surprised but he simply closed his eyes as he kiss Fafnir back. It was not rushed as if they were running out of time, they weren't chasing their breathes either. The kiss they shared was one of comfort, assurance and it is tender, just enough to make their heart's ticklish and just enough to feel each other's presence as they treasure the time they have right now.

The intimacy they had was not rough either, as Fafnir made sure his claws would not scar Takiya's supple skin nor his teeth that leaves small marks of his own territory. Inevitably, Takiya is his as they had loved one another, he kissed Takiya's hands once more earning a shudder from the said male as his possessiveness matched the lust in his mate's eyes.

Their lips meeting as their tongues continue to loop and unloose like a strand of string. Warm fingers clinging into each other's hair as they both made noises they have not thought they could moan.

"I love you..." Takiya whispered before he felt himself lose in the stars, his insides tightening at Fafnir's member as the dragon almost cursed as he felt completely lost in bliss.

They are both warm and their movements are heated, continuously touching, as they moved in a heated pace catching each other's mouth and caressing the other's skin as they soon reached the peak of their chase.

They collapsed onto the futon laid out on the floor as they try to chase air, Takiya felt suddenly cold as soon as Fafnir's body was no longer toppling his. Making him scootch to the dragon's chest as he make a cold perspiration as he felt their skins in touch, they are both now safe.

Takiya sleepily ask as he yawn, "Faf-kun do dragons sleep?"

"We do but not that we necessarily need it." Fafnir answered short as he felt amused, they were curious at the same thing.

"Is that so... I guess a lot of beings not just humans were always seeking to defeat you guys, huh..." Takiya let out in a low and melancholic tone as he wrap his arms on Fafnir's belly. "I may not be the strongest in the world, but I will protect you... So, you can sleep now Faf-kun. I'll make sure that you are safe."

Takiya proudly assured as Fafnir hid his face at Takiya's hair, the scent of mint and shampoo on his nose and he softly exhaled, "Let's sleep together."

"Sounds great, goodnight Faf-kun." Takiya replied as he settled within the dragon's arm as Fafnir hug him back making sure he would not squeeze Takiya.

And when he saw no signs of discomfort, sleepiness had seemed to make its way to him. Just how long had it been since he had slept like this? In a warm cozy peace where he had felt safe the most... He can't even imagine his past self anymore.

In midst of the cold storm, Takiya and Fafnir felt warm in the covers of their blanket and Fafnir closed his eyes as well, "Goodnight Takiya."

- May we see each other even in our dreams.
