Work Text:
Staying up into the late hours of the night is something Ranboo is used to. After all, most teens stay awake most of the night. Aside from that just being how teenage bodies work, they stay up late to hangout with friends, and play video games, among other things.
That is not the case for Ranboo.
With their parents and sibling heading to bed at 10, and not wanting to bother their friends, Ranboo often stayed up until 4 or 5 in the morning; crying and feeling empty. Ranboo wants to be like other teens, believe them - they really do. And their friends always tell them to just text them for whatever reason whenever- they say they care-
But having to always text first in order to plan something or talk- and then that doesn’t always work out and plans often fall through, short answers are received-
You can’t blame Ranboo for feeling this way.
After all, they hangout often, they are together often, the “Golden Trio” just the original duo- yet Ranboo can’t blame them. They’ve been friends since kindergarten and only met Ranboo as freshmen. Yet when Ranboo sees their posts of them hanging out, or hears their tales of the 2 of them on the rare occasions they all hangout, or when the teacher tells people to get into groups and they both always immediately lock eyes and pair up and Ranboo is left on their own again, telling themselves that they like to work by themselves more; it’s easier that way; it’s hard to ignore the pain in their chest and the feeling of their heart sinking into their stomach.
It’s strange how familiar that feeling is getting.
And so Ranboo grows used to falling asleep late at night, tired from silently sobbing.
They don’t need Ranboo. No matter who Ranboo thinks of, they can always pair someone with someone else; someone who they’d choose over Ranboo. Their parents have each other, their sibling has their friend, their old friends have their new friends, and their new friends have each other. Tommy has Tubbo. Tubbo has Tommy.
Forgive Ranboo for intruding, they never meant to.
In fact, some nights, when it gets really dark in their head, Ranboo wants to get right out of their lives, make it easier for them to continue. It’d be easier to continue without the bother that is Ranboo.
And so Ranboo silently sobs cries.
And when they are done- too exhausted to continue; they hope it won’t happen again tomorrow. They’re always wrong.
And they lay down to rest.
