Work Text:
Students weren’t allowed on the dorm roofs in fear that the students would be stupid and get themselves hurt. There were cameras and a big sign on the door. There wasn’t a lock, but this was a dorm with hero students, the lock could easily be broken. There wasn’t an alarm either or he would have gotten reprimanded by now.
Shouto came up to the rooftop everyday after dinner without fail. He wouldn’t do anything special. He would sit there away from the edge, his back to the wall, and go over his day. It was a way for him to unwind away from his classmates, and from his room.
And at first it was only him and the quiet was welcome. Then one day Shinsou found him when looking for a new hiding spot. Shinsou gave him a long look.
“You here often?” He questioned.
“Everyday.” Shouto told him.
Shinsou nodded, stared, then slowly closed the door and left. After that someone would always join him. He thinks they all signed up for different dates because no one came two days in a row and it was always one or two people spending the hours with him. It was sweet of them to do this.
Ojiro’s days are the only ones they have to take off the roof. They spar against one another but after Ojiro almost fell off the roof they decided to stick to the training buildings.
Shinsou would sit quietly with him, sometimes he would make fun of their classmates. He was easy to get along with and he fueled Shouto’s theories. He even snorted when Shouto asked if he was sure he wasn’t their teacher’s child.
Koda would bring his bunny and let Shouto hold it. He would run his fingers over it’s head and it nuzzled into his lap. Koda would whisper random animal facts until it was too cold for the animal to stay out.
Sato wouldn’t stay for long but he always brought him a new treat. Sometimes something new, or something he stressed baked and mass produced. There were even times where he asked Shouto to help him wrap them up to be passed out to other classes.
Aoyama was odd. Not in a bad way of course. He would bring him cheese- “It’s a token of my friendship!”, and teach him some basic french.
Tsuyu and Hagakure came together. Tsuyu would sit on his left and Hagakure on his right. They would curl around each arm and talk. They talked about family stuff. Tsuyu would share stories on her siblings and Hagakure of the pranks she pulled on her parents. Shouto could tell them the little things he knew about his own siblings and they encouraged it.
Uraraka would bring up a laptop and they would do a little online shopping, with Endeavor’s credit card of course. And she would smile and giggle at the cute little trinkets he would buy to bring life to his room.
He’s had close calls with Mina. She would teach him different dance moves and laugh at his stiffness. They’ve almost fallen off plenty of times but were so tired by the end of it that they didn’t bother to change locations. Mina liked the thrill of it.
Momo and Jirou introduced him to new music. Momo had her reserved and calm songs while Jirou had her brash and outgoing ones. It was a nice balance and made his playlist hours long.
Iida talked about his brother. It made Shouto upset that he couldn’t remember one of his big brothers. But listening to the love Iida clearly had for his own made up for it in it’s own way.
Kaminari and Kirishima were getting him caught up with slang and pop culture. They would have their own little movie nights with a laptop and snacks. Shouto was getting told what reference to say and when. It always got a laugh out of his classmates even when Shouto didn’t fully understand himself, but that made him happy.
Shoji and Tokoyami didn’t talk much either. Dark Shadow would pop out sometimes to hug him or pat his head.
Sero knew how to knit, which was surprising. Even more surprising, he was taking the time to teach Shouto. Shouto wasn’t very proud of his first scarf, but no matter how ugly it was, Sero told him he did very good for a beginner.
Midoriya would tell him about the latest hero fight or a change in the ranking or a new hero that came out. He recently got more into overseas heroes and how they differed from Japan’s.
One of his favorite roof times was when his teachers showed up. Mr. Aizawa wore a black, long sleeved shirt and the brightest hot pink sweatpants, and his capture scarf. He remembers one time one of the teachers said it brought him comfort to always wear it.
Present Mic was out of his hero getup. His hair in a low ponytail and regular glasses on. He wore a blue hoodie with grey sweatpants. It made Shouto feel soft to see his teachers in such a relaxed state. Present Mic brought a blanket with him that he wrapped Shouto up in, even though he didn’t need it.
They sat in the quiet, bantered a little bit between each other. That night was where he felt the most safe and comfortable around adults. He fell asleep at one point. He awoke briefly and found he was being carried. His head was on his teacher’s shoulder and he could hear the whispers of them talking. He was still wrapped in the blanket when he was tucked into his futon.
Nights with Katsuki were special. They would sit together, Shouto’s back to Katsuki’s chest and he sat between his legs. Katsuki would put his arms around Shouto’s stomach and Shouto’s arms would lay on top of his.
They will talk about anything and everything. The biggest topic being what new foods Katsuki could test out. He also nagged Shouto to get recipes from his sister.
“Her food is good, get me the recipes next time you visit.”
“You could get them yourself if you came with me, you’ll know I’ll forget.”
“Then clear up some storage and remember.”
“I could just give you her number.”
Katsuki would lead him by the hand when it got too cold and they would cuddle in Katsuki’s room. Shouto would watch him when he would read before bed. Then Katsuki would shove his face into the pillow to make him stop.
And he would just smile and giggle. And Katsuki’s face would soften and he would caress his face and start a staring match of his own.
And before he left to go up for the next night, Katsuki would always tell him to have fun with whatever ‘extra’ it would be today and come to bed when he’s ready.
