Work Text:
"We should go on a date," Gon stated casually, eating his last piece of toast. He wasn't visibly embarrassed by his sentence, but that's how Gon was - blunt and shameless.
Killua chocked on his breath, his eyes widened, jaw dropped and face turned bright red - the exact opposite of Gon's expression. That- that was-
"I-I- You- What?"
Gon smiled softly, slightly pushing the plate away, and put his head on his hands. His gaze was full of tenderness, adoration and something Killua couldn't recognize. This gaze always made him feel over the moon with happines, euphoric and blissful, yet it was somehow suffocating and painful - Killua still didn't get used to kindness even after so many years.
"I mean, we've started dating not so long ago, so i thought we should go out!" Gon's smiled widely, closing his eyes, like a happy dog. If he had a tail, he definitely would wave it.
In the yellow lights of the dawn, Gon looked like a piece of art, written by a brillian artist. His tan skin was slightly shining gold, freckles on his shoulders and face looked like hundreds of tiny constellations, and Killua wanted to count them all, and, maybe, kiss every one of them. Sun rays made Gon look so-so-so soft, so-so-so gentle. Killua couldn't take his eyes off his boyfriend even for a second. He was totally smitten.
He always admired Gon, even when they just met. Two young boys; one looked for his dad, the other - for something exciting. They decided to stick together, never letting other go, and - somehow, somewhere in the middle of their adventure, they fell in love with each other.
It wasn't all shine and sparkles, and it wasn't easy for them at all. It felt like they were crushed by those feelings, destroyed without any hope of healing. They were at war, of course it felt like they were crushed.
Then, they separated at the World Tree - and, maybe, it was the healthiest decision they've ever made. Only four years later they met each other again, less hurting, more happy than they ever knew they could be.
And they clicked together, like they did at the Hunter Exam, like all those years didn't happen, like they were by each other's side all the time.
Now they were sitting in their own apartment, eating breakfast, and Killua could feel his breath stuck in his throat.
Gon was a true masterpiece: with all small wrinkles in the corner of his eyes, because he smiled so much and so widely, with calluses on his hands, that showed how hard he was working and how strong he was, with all scars and scratches, that broke him once, but made him the person he was today.
"Yeah," softly whispered Killua after a while, fascinated by the view in front of him, "we definitely should go on a date."
Killua loved Gon. He loved Gon so much, sometimes it hurt; he loved him all along: when they were fighting, scared for their lives, when they were on a verge of death, when they parted, chasing after their goals. For this love Killua would die and would live; he would even jump off the cliff without nen, if Gon asked him to.
And yet he didn't make a first step, didn't confess first. It was Gon, who said it, it was Gon, who admitted his feelings towards other. Who else would it be? Killua would never, ha.
Although, all they've done yet was only cuddling on the bed and holding hands, and Killua was too embarrassed to ask for more. Sure, cuddling was nice, but Killua couldn't wait to find out why people love kissing and other stuff so much.
Not much later they finished breakfast, washed the dishes and went outside. To be honest, they didn't really planned on what they were going to do, but everything was fine with them.
It was seven at morning, and streets were filled with people, rushing to work and kids, throwing ball at each other or running to school.
Killua and Gon walked past the street, holding hands, smiling; Killua's face was pink, but he didn't take his hand away, enjoying the warm feeling. They were walking for about ten minutes, when Killua understood they headed to the center of the city - there was a big beautiful garden with fountains and little flower fields.
When they entered the garden, their fingers intertwined, swinging their hands back and forth, Killua realized, that he wanted to be stuck in that moment forever, he wanted butterflies in his stomach to never go away, to never dissappear, because the feeling of them was truly wonderful.
Water in the fountain reflected the blue cloudless sky, and some droplets flew over the trees, creating the rainbow. Gon squeezed Killua's hand a little, watching this in awe as if he had never seen rainbow before, but then, not even a second later, something distracted him, and he chased after it, still holding Killua's hand tightly. Killua had no choice but to follow him.
It was nice, though. Running with Gon, chasing after squirrels and pigeons, trying to pet them, tripping on the small rock and falling on each other, while never leting go of his hand. It was warm, and cute, and made Killua feel so many good things, that he thought he would explode.
They lied out on the ground, sweaty and panting, but big smiles didn't leave their faces for a while. Wind ruffled their hair, softly embracing Killua and Gon with light streams of air, and they were laying peaceful.
"Y'know," Killua began, uncertainly, "this is the happiest I've been in a while." His voice trembled a little, but his words started to fill with confidence. "I really glad I've met you, Gon."
Gon's heart was beating so fast, and from his position on Gon's chest, Killua could hear every beat. So, maybe, Gon was as much excited as Killua, but he just didn't show it. Killua felt corners of his mouth lift slightly. Maybe, making Gon flustered would be funny.
Killua lifted his head from Gon's chest and leaned on his hands, looking him straight in the eyes. Of course, he was flustered too, who wouldn't in that case, but making Gon blush was his first priority.
"Can i kiss you?" asked Killua, actually, not knowing, what the hell he was doing. 'Kiss'? He would've died on the spot, if he had kissed Gon, honestly.
Gon's eyes widened, slight shade of red appeared on his cheeks, but he smiled and excitedly nodded several times. His heart was racing, but he didn't seem affected by it.
Killua paused a little. Was he seriously going to do it? Like, was he seriously going to kiss Gon?
His breath stumbled. Ha-ha, not today, Satan. But, maybe, kiss on a cheek would work?..
He leaned against Gon's face, feeling their breath mixing. Killua was so extremely close to Gon, he could see all the small details he didn't usually notice: small pimples on the forehead, tiny birthmark right above left eyebrow, brown and yellow spots in the charming orange irises, faded scars and the dark stubble that has just begun to grow.
Killua finally pressed his lips to Gon's cheek, and it was soft and warm and dry, and Killua felt fireworks exploding in his chest. Gon's heart skipped a beat, then started beating way more faster than it did a minute ago. His eyes were wide open and face bright red, and his breath was shaky and fast, and he looked like a mess, but Killua knew that he didn't look any better himself.
It was just peck on the cheek, it didn't even last thirty seconds. Killua dazedly thought about what they would look like if they kissed on the lips. He knew his face heated up so much that he could've started smoking.
Gon, unfortunately, recovered quickly, his face wasn't red anymore. Killua felt a little disappointed that he couldn't see flustered Gon more.
Very soon Gon began to squirm under Killua, trying to escape. When it was clear that he couldn't escape without Killua actually letting him go, he blew out his cheeks and made the best puppy eyes he could ever make. On the seventeen years old it looked hilarious, and Killua started laughing, hiding his face on Gon's shoulder. His entire body began to shake, as if he was crying, but sound of giggle ruined that expression.
Gon pouted, but then his face brightened up.
"Killua-a-a, let me go!" He whimped, putting his hands on his boyfriend's back. A mischievous spark lit up in his eyes. "Let me go, or i will kiss you!"
Killua shuddered slightly, and then rolled off Gon, bury his blushing face in the grass. Now he heard Gon laughing.
"C'mon, Killua-a-a, just a little kiss!" Whined Gon right into the Killua's ear. Killua pushed him away and rolled over on his back.
No way he was going to kiss Gon today. He would literally die.
He smiled and closed his eyes, listening to tweeting birds, to the sound of wind, to Gon's calm breath next to him, to the people chattering on the distance. His hands found Gon's, and they interviewed fingers again, and endless feeling of butterflies in Killua's stomach only became stronger.
Killua wished he could stay in that moment forever.
"I love you." He murmured in the air, as if it was such easy thing to say.
"I love you too." Whispered Gon in reply, squeezing Killua's hand. "I love you more than life."
