Chapter Text
"Change of plans! Recording ended early so I'll go shopping first thing after work! " She said.
"Let's cook something together! " She said.
One step inside proved Suisei's words wrong. No groceries, no preparations, nothing. Just a sleeping girl on the couch.
Miko crouched down to the level of the couch, glaring at her partner. Suisei looked the same as she did when she left the house. The elite that Miko was, she could reason that Suisei crashed the moment she walked through the door.
"You could've messaged me that you were home at least," she mumbled. "What're we supposed to do for dinner, huh?"
Poking her cheek did no good. Suisei was fast asleep. "Any nap you take, you turn into a rock, and then it's up to me to wake you up before the next armageddon… or recording, or lesson, or… whatever else you do these days."
Miko remembered looking over Suisei's shoulder last week, wondering when she was next free. Nonchalantly, Suisei pulled up her schedule for the month and Miko wanted to slap her over the head. It made Miko's stream schedule look like nothing.
She tested the waters. Miko cupped her hands and spoke through them. "Me and your sis love to talk about you behind your back y'know~ You're gonna end up a lonely old lady someday~" Suisei remained quiet, much to her relief.
A deep sigh left her body. "It's not that I don't get it or anything though… you've always been like this." Miko knew Suisei wouldn't hear her. She preferred it this way. "And, it's not like I haven't been working hard either. But do you have to one-up me like that? Sui-chan's a meanie!"
She waited, as if Suisei would wake up and respond to her with words drenched in snark, like any other conversation. Miko sighed and looked around the couch. Off to the side, there was a thin, light blanket. It was better than nothing, so she draped it over Suisei's form before returning to eye-level with her.
"Well, if you were so lazy that you couldn't even grab a blanket before you crashed, then I've still got superiority over you," Miko giggled to herself. "In more 'areas' than one… hehe."
For a moment, Suisei seemed to stir and Miko had a heart attack. Her feet shifted slightly as Suisei dipped deeper into the sheet, covering her mouth.
A slumbering Suisei wasn't a new sight to her, yet Miko always thought she was adorable like this. Like a baby.
"That makes sense though. You're still a big child; competitive, impulsive, spits out bad words without a thought…"
In the back of her head, she realized that Suisei would also describe her like that, light-heartedly however. Their incessant teasing of each other was normally exhausting, endless fun, so it was pretty strange to have it be one-sided.
"You're pretty hopeless sometimes, but then you go and have solo lives and crush out singles and albums like it's nothing. I swear I see you on TV more than in person." Her smile wavered slightly.
"Sui-chan… you're amazing, more than you know. So, you can rely on your elite business partner a bit, can't you?" Miko asked, not looking for an answer.
After a minute of silence, hot shame poured down onto her body. Miko shot up from the ground.
"Uuugh! Too embarrassing! End me now!"
"…pfft!"
Miko's head snapped down to the supposed sleeping girl. All was silent once again as Miko noticed how Suisei seemed to tremble in her sleep.
She fumed, and turned on her heel. "Oh, okay, fine, whatever! If Sui-chan wants to sleep like a log all day, then I can't help it! No dinner for her- Whoa!"
Arms wrapped around her middle and pulled her with no time to register what was happening. In an instant, Miko found herself on top of a giggling Suisei that was very awake. The sheet fell to the ground without a sound.
"Shut up! Stop laughing! Idiot! Stupid!" She struggled to try and hit Suisei, but her hold wouldn't allow Miko to turn around until she calmed down, relatively speaking. "How long, huh?"
Suisei hummed playfully. "A certain baby was calling me lazy? Probably around then."
Miko wanted to die. She wanted the floor boards to break through and consume her. If she squinted hard enough, there was a pit opening up. Miko flailed her body towards it, but to no avail.
"I hate you! Don't touch me! Let go!" Her anger reignited.
Suisei only snuggled into Miko further. "Nah, I'm too comfortable to let go now. I need breaks too, don't I? I'll leave everything to you, my reliable business partner, Mi-ko-chi!" She moved Miko around to face her, unyielding in her embrace.
Miko laid her hands on Suisei's shoulders. She tried to push herself off, yet it was futile again. She really needed to do something about her lack of strength. "That makes no sense dummy!"
All Miko could do was spit insults, and all Suisei did was laugh at them all. It was infuriating, but ironically, good stress relief.
After shouting for what felt like hours, Miko ran out of energy. Suisei's grin persisted through her heaving. Before Miko could ask what she was smiling about, a feather-like sensation pressed against her cheek.
Miko burned red at the kiss. "Hey!"
"You get so competitive," another kiss, "and are impulsively, stupidly, hilarious," another, closer to her mouth, "and your signature saying is literally 'FAQ'. You're really saying that I'm childish?"
"Be quiet already…"
"'Kaaay~ As you wish."
Suddenly her vision was flooded with blue. Miko squeezed her eyes shut as Suisei's lips pressed against hers. It was a bit rough, kind of intense, but not detracting in that way. Miko would never admit that though.
When the kiss ended, Miko found herself out of breath once more. In contrast, Suisei looked hardly bothered, which made her cheeks puff up. Before Miko could voice her frustrations, Suisei's bangs brushed against hers when she leaned in.
"Believe it or not, I've changed my plans."
"W-What about it?"
"I've got a break tomorrow, and the day after. You up for anything?"
Miko couldn't hide her surprise at that. "Really?"
She nodded. With that, Miko began rubbing her cheek affectionately against Suisei's. The giddiness of it all got to her more than she thought.
"Tomorrow then! Let's play something! Or we could go out for lunch! Actually there's this movie I wanna see too. We gotta do as much as we can in two days-"
"Uh Mikochi? Aren't you forgetting something?" Suisei deadpanned. Miko tilted her head. "What's your next stream?"
A strange question, but she answered it. "Ah, I've been meaning to build this thing on the MC server so I'll be landscaping for a few hours tomorrow, and then I'm in a program on the official channel after that… oh, wait-"
From the constant smiling Suisei was doing, Miko was nearly convinced that Suisei was delirious from fatigue. "Uh huh, and I'm the busy one."
"Ack, fine you got me. We both have to work on that, which is why we're business partners." She knew her logic was probably off there, but she couldn't care less.
Miko dropped her head onto Suisei's chest. "Man… that leaves us with only one day."
Suisei hummed to herself in thought, then suddenly she began humming a song. Miko didn't recognize it, so it must be a new one. That at least gave her an idea for what they could do.
"Karaoke would be fun."
Suisei didn't say anything.
"Did you fall asleep again?"
"I'm awake."
Her hand stroked her back in rhythmic circles. Miko was about to be lulled to sleep herself, until she stopped.
"Sui-chan?"
"…Those streams are tomorrow," their positions switched in a blink of an eye. With Suisei on top, she peered down on her with that sly smile and those starry eyes, studying Miko's form. "We still have tonight."
Miko gulped. She didn't have to stretch her imaginations, bred from long-term exposure to games and anime, to understand that implication. Her slight hesitancy was present regardless.
"D-Dinner first?"
"Of course," Suisei said, breathing over her earlobe. "Sorry I couldn't buy anything like I said, but I'll be helping myself to my meal now."
Oh. Oh.
"Sui… sei," she mumbled. Miko's voice got caught in her throat; she didn't refer to Suisei like that often. Based on Suisei's gentle palm on her cheek, she didn't seem to mind this direction.
"Miko."
Miko didn't mind this direction either.
The front door unlocked. "Hey you two! Can't wait to see what's for… dinner…"
Anemachi froze at the entrance. Miko couldn't move a muscle.
"Nononono! W-Wait!" Suisei stumbled off the couch, "This isn't-! Onee-chan uh-"
Anemachi didn't let her explain as she shut the door immediately. "Sorry girls! I'll be eating out today for uh, five hours! Okay?! See ya!"
The two were left in silence.
Miko sat up and rummaged for her phone in her pockets.
"Hey Sui-chan."
"Yeah?"
"Hungry?"
"Kinda. Anything in the fridge?"
"Nope. Uber?"
"Sure."
