The thing is that I went to the lunchroom on my break because sneaking from Minju-ssi to eat in the office is boring when you aren’t there with me, so I’ve been forced to go out to that dangerous place. Which is normally okay, you know. HR and the accounting department have their breaks at different time than ours, and Hoseok hyung and Namjoon hyung understand social norms of behaviors for couples at work, so they’re just there talking and behaving like two separate functional human beings.
But today we had a meeting with the accounting department to fix something regarding a problem with a purchase order, and HR also came in when Minju-ssi started talking about our team needing another capacitation, so guess what? Our break time ended up being at the same time than those departments and there I was: sitting at the only table at the lunchroom while watching YOONGI HYUNG FEEDING JIMIN.
Like what the fuck? We’re at work. I don’t want to see Yoongi hyung gushing when Jimin compliments him because he thinks what hyung cooked for lunch is good, and I certainly don’t want to see Jimin’s yellow post-its that he “discretely” puts on Yoongi’s hyung pocket when they finish eating with all those heart drawings ughhh.
And at some point Yoongi hyung started pouting because Jimin didn’t finish what he cooked for them? Like seriously what the fuck. You should’ve seen all the food that Yoongi hyung brought. For a second I thought he was gonna invite all the office to have lunch.
How was he even thinking that they could eat all of that in their thirty minutes break? Specially when they kept giggling and joking and looking at the other so in love and ughhhhh.

Taehyung is obsessed with finding his true love, and he says that when he does, he’ll know it immediately (something about them impressing him and him not being so easy to get impressed...?). That’s why he never dates someone for so long since he realizes they aren’t the right ones for him, and he doesn’t feel comfortable giving them high hopes because he doesn’t like hurting people like that.
We’ve known each other for three years, and even though Taehyung said he was impressed by me when he first met me, he hasn’t ever felt something like that for me. And under Taehyung’s logic, then that marks me as a huge no for his boyfriend prospect because it wasn’t something he felt since the beginning, which sucks, because the more I get to know him, the more I love him, and the more he gets to know me, the more he doesn’t love me back.
And you know what’s worse? Taehyung keeps telling me that he loves me (as a friend) and calling me cute and being so nice with me that sometimes I think that he might like me back and it’s just him not getting to notice it because he’s too absorbed in his idea of real love, but I'm wrong. And I can’t even get to properly reply to him any of those affections because I’m scared he’ll see right through me and that I love him more than as a friend, and he will know I’ve felt that way for a while because that’s how love works with Taehyung, and then he’ll feel bad because he never knew and he kept behaving like that with me, and thus giving me hopes like he hates so much to do with others.
So yeah, I’ve been in love for Taehyung for more than two years, liked him for almost three, and I’ve spent that same amount of time watching him going to all his dates talking about how happy he feels of being so sure they’re all the right ones and then him falling out of that illusion and then him starting the cycle over and over. First there were guys from our faculty or other groups, and then guys from the building and fuck it, I’m not writing anything else because I’m really getting sad.
Opening about this was a shitty advice.

I’m not gonna comment anything regarding Taehyung’s opinion about love because that’s not my business, but since I see that’s one of the things that are troubling you, I’m gonna tell you this: love is a different concept for everyone. Like, for real. Sorry for the comparison, but I told you I would advice you in base of my experience, and my dating experience kinda pretty much revolves around Jimin (and if I ever found out you told that someone, you’re dead), and I was very sure I liked him even though we hadn’t met for so long. And you know what? Jimin liked me back in the same amount of time, and I was lucky because of that, but that doesn’t mean it had to be that way.
Like, let’s imagine, what if Jimin hadn’t liked me back then when I was already so head over heels for him? I’d have been ashamed since he became aware of my feelings and they weren’t gonna be return, but guess what? I felt more relief of the fact that Jimin finally knew how I really felt about him than about the fact that he liked me back. Because I really, really liked him, Jungkook. I liked him so much and I was scared of telling him, but it was something I had to do eventually because keeping those feelings for myself would’ve been too much since I liked him so much.
I’m not saying that you should confess to Taehyung or anything like that because I’m not you, but I’m trying to make you see that the way Taehyung thinks the time knowing someone and love are related shouldn’t be an obstacle if you want to do that because the perspective of love is different for everyone, and you shouldn’t let that affect your own perspective of it or your experience with it.
What I want to say is that those are your feelings, Jungkook. The way you see and feel love is different from everyone else’s, and you can do whatever you want with that as long it doesn’t hurt anyone. It’ll be okay if you decide to confess to Taehyung today even if he rejects you because that’s just you acting on your feelings. And I’ll also be okay if you decide to keep this a secret because again, that’s just you acting on your feelings.
Don’t feel so pressure about doing or not something, and please, stop comparing how you think on love with how Taehyung’s does. It’s understandable that you’re worried about Taehyung feeling bad for breaking your heart, but have you ever thought that you may also be breaking your own heart because of that?
