Trini tries to get comfortable and relax on the dark green couch but she can’t help but feel out of place and a little pressured. Her mom’s still on her ass about the whole friends thing even after befriending the rangers. And so far, she’s had the most success with Bella and Cyrus.
“Cookies incoming!”
Bella plops down beside her and Cyrus, offering the plate of warm cookies. Trini takes one and passes it to the boy next to her. She gives Bella a smile.
“Thanks.”
“Oh my god Bella these are sooo good.” Cyrus says with a mouthful.
“Oh, pfft, they’re nothing.”
“Girl, these aren’t nothing. This is a talent!”
Trini does her best to focus on the television in front of her. Perhaps Goku and his buddies wouldn’t mind a Power Ranger on their side. Her cell phone vibrates and she sees it’s Kimberly.
Hey babe <3 wanna come over?
Hey baby <3 of course, I’ll be over in a bit. I’m at Bella’s.
“So, Trini, how are the cookies?” Bella’s hands squeeze her shoulders from behind. “Your muscles feel tight.”
Trini’s eyes widen and she shrugs the girl’s hands off.
“Uh, yeah, I work out.”
“Perhaps I could help stretch them out?”
The girl combs her fingers through the ends of Trini’s hair. Trini stands up from the couch and faces her.
“That won’t be necessary.”
“If you say so, Kitty.” Bella smiles.
Trini’s brows furrow in confusion. The other girl sits back down and pats the couch for Trini to join her.
“Actually, I need to get going.”
“Are you sure you can’t stay?” Cyrus pipes up.
Trini picks up her bag, “I’m sure.”
She heads for the stairs to get out of the basement.
“Text me later!” Bella calls after her.
Rounding the corner on Kimberly’s street, Trini slows her jogging pace and focuses on her breathing. A few yellow dandelions catch her eye. She plucks one from in between the sidewalk. She arrives at her destination a few houses ahead. After slipping her headphones down around her neck, she knocks on the door. A moment later her girlfriend greets her.
Inside the house Trini gets a whiff of burning incense.
“I got something for you, Princesa.”
Kim smiles when she sees the yellow flower. She takes it and slips it behind her ear.
“You’re sweet.”
Trini grins and kisses the other girl’s cheek, “Only for you.”
Once they make it to Kim’s room, Trini lays on the bed, feet hanging off the edge. Kim leans between her legs and Trini’s hands clutch her waist. Kim leans further to peck the girl’s lips. She traces Trini’s jaw and captures her lips again for a longer kiss.
“How are your new friends?”
Trini groans and rolls her eyes. “They can be unbearable. Cyrus is such a disaster bi and praises almost everything Bella does. And Bella - well she’s - something about her bothers me.”
“Oh yeah? What is it that bothers you?”
Trini shifts her eyes around the room, not sure how to tell Kim.
“I know how uncomfortable you are when you’re around her, I feel it every time.”
She tucks a strand of hair behind Trini’s ear. Trini meets Kim’s eyes again.
“I think she likes me. Like like-likes me.”
Kim cocks a brow, “Oh?”
“Yeah, she’s all touchy when I’m around. And she has this nickname for me too.”
Trini’s cell phone dings with a notification. She reaches in her pocket to check it.
“Hablar del diablo.” she grumbles.
Kim grabs her phone, “Lemme see.”
She scrolls through texts for a moment and she scoffs, “Oh, hell no. Get in the car babygirl.”
“What?”
“We’re going to have a little talk.”
“Oh-okay.”
Back at Bella’s house, Kim walks up to the front door, Trini trailing her. The door opens.
“Hi, Bella. Kimberly Hart, Trini’s girlfriend.”
The girl steps out of the house, chin held up.
“I know who you are.”
“I don’t think you do.” Kim challenges. “If you did, you’d know to back off.”
Bella’s face is unimpressed.
“You make Trini uncomfortable and you are going to stop flirting with her.”
Bella smirks and glances at Trini.
“Why should I? Are you gonna punch my tooth out too?”
Kim clenches her fists, “I just might.”
A laugh erupts from Bella.
“Kim, I can do what I want, when I want. Your fist doesn’t scare me.”
Kim narrows her eyes and turns to face Trini. She grabs Trini’s shirt collar and pulls her in, clashing her lips with the shorter girl’s. Trini is taken by surprise but goes with it. Kim’s hands firmly grasp Trini’s waist. As they continue to make out, Bella’s smug look dissipates.
“Okay, enough,” Bella grumbles.
Kim continues kissing her girlfriend.
“I get it guys.”
The two part unwillingly. Trini grins, causing Kim to grin too.
“Move your uncontained feelings off my porch.” Bella groans, then mutters, “I’ll leave you alone, for now.”
The two rangers hop off the porch. Back in the closed doors of Kim’s car they laugh.
“I think that should keep Bella away.”
“It better.” Kim catches her breath. “I hope you know I fully intend to continue that later. But we shouldn’t keep the boys waiting.”
The girls arrive at the mine. Approaching the cave drop the ground shakes rhythmically, getting more intense. A red tyrannosaurus rex comes into view. Jason opens up the hatch.
“There you are! Grab your zords and meet us up here!”
“Race ya!” Trini sprints towards the chasm.
Kimberly runs after her, jumping into the pool of water beneath. Trini makes it to her zord first, Kim close behind. Morphing into her pink armor as she climbs up into her pterodactyl. Once it’s powered, she zips through the cave passing her girlfriend’s saber tooth tiger. She flys out into the field circling over the boys.
“I win!” she exclaims over the coms.
Trini comes running full speed towards her team, pouncing at the pink zord and landing on the back.
“Gotcha!”
“We’ll see about that!”
Kim picks up speed and spins around.
“Whoa!”
When that doesn’t work, she loops up vertically and the yellow zord falls back towards the earth. Trini screams. She can feel the adrenaline shooting through her. She manages to land without totally wiping out.
“See babe, cats always land on their feet!”
Kim chuckles.
A black mastodon comes hurtling towards Trini.
“Think fast crazy girl!”
She dodges Zack’s attack and runs the opposite direction. Zack turns around to chase her down.
“Hi Billy!” Trini hollers as she runs past his blue triceratops.
“Hey Trini!”
They all slow down as they close in on Jason.
“All right team, we’ve had some fun. Time to get in some putty practice.”
“You got it boss.”
The team of power rangers fight off the simulated putties in their zords. After multiple rounds they head back to their underground ship. Jason hops down from the battle machine.
“How does everyone feel after some more practice in the zords?”
“I think I can fly mine now.”
“Overall I feel pretty good Jason. I think I could make the simulations more challenging with the help of Alpha 5. Maybe even recreate Goldar. This ship’s technology is amazing.”
Trini pats a blaster on the head of her zord, smiling. “I really like using these. I had fun.”
Zack laughs, “I like crushing some alien ass. They won’t stand a chance against me!”
“Sounds like we’re all satisfied with this session. Next time we’ll work on strength training.”
They all make their way to the floating pool of water. Kim holds Trini’s hand. They jump.
On the surface again the rangers talk about their day until they reach their vehicles.
“Well we’ll see you boys tomorrow!” Kim says.
“Bye! See you tomorrow!” they holler back.
The girls drive away.
Kimberly parks in the street next to Trini’s house. The soft glow of the street lamps illuminates the quiet neighborhood.
“Thanks for the ride babe.”
Trini leans closer to the driver’s seat to kiss Kim.
“I’ll see you later.”
She pecks her lips and opens the door. Kim grabs her forearm.
“Wait.”
Trini faces her again. Kim leans over and closes the door. She turns off the engine, then reaches under the front of the passenger seat and pushes it back. She climbs over the console, getting in between her passenger’s legs.
“I don’t want you to leave yet.”
Trini grabs at Kim’s waist when she lays the back of the chair down. Kim pulls the girl’s hips flush to her own. Trini reaches a hand up to comb her fingers through Kim’s hair. She leans up to kiss Kim, pulling her down with her by her shirt.
While the two girls are occupied, a few houses down Bella fantasizes that it was her on top of Trini.
"Kitty, I want to rid ourselves of this Kimmy problem."
