Kagami sighed as he paid for the mountain of cheeseburgers. He sat down, sighing. He unwrapped one and looked to the side, biting down. He then noticed someone sitting in front of him. He turned his gaze towards him, choking when he realised there indeed was someone. "KUROKO?!" he yelled.
"Domo," Kuroko greeted, sipping his vanilla shake. Kagami had a feeling of deja vu just then. This scene was how he first met Kuroko.
"Where did you come from?!" Kagami asked. It's been a while since I've felt that.
"I was sitting here first," he replied. Kagami sighed. "What are you doing here in Japan? I thought you went back to LA," Kuroko asked, taking a sip out of his drink. Kagami sighed, looking up into the night sky outside.
"My flight was cancelled, so I had to go back. Good thing I hadn't rented out the apartment." Kuroko nodded.
"Does this mean you'll join Seirin again?" Kuroko asked. Kagami grinned.
"'Course! I want to hold onto the title 'Best in Japan' for as long as I can!" Kagami yelled. Kuroko looked down to hide the slight smile on his face. He looked up at Kagami.
"Yokatta," he replied.
Once Kagami had finished eating the mountain of burgers, the two went to the basketball courts together. "Kagami-kun, let's have a 1v1. Just like before," Kuroko said, taking out a basketball.
Where did you get that from? "I'll just beat you like last time!" Kagami declared.
"I've been training too, Kagami-kun. After all, you're ready to reach the next level." Kagami paused.
"Next... level?" Kuroko threw the ball at him.
"You start first," Kuroko explained, looking at Kagami's confused look. Kagami dribbled the ball. "Half-court." Kagami nodded, running towards the basket. Kagami had to be careful of Kuroko's misdirection. If Kuroko didn't want to be seen, then he wouldn't be seen.
Kagami prioritised the basket, running to it at top speed. He'd worry about Kuroko later. As Kagami approached the basket, the Kuroko stole the ball. "Eh?!" Kagami yelled. Kuroko shot a normal shot, hitting the board and landing in the basket. "Tch. A normal shot?" Kagami questioned.
"Hai. I'm also working on dunking using Misdirection," Kuroko answered. "Kuroko-style, you could say."
"Was that supposed to be a joke?" Kagami asked, unimpressed. Kuroko shrugged.
"It's my basketball, Kagami-kun, so I suppose it was." Kagami face-palmed.
"I think you need to stop hanging around Izuki-senpai. Both you and that ex-captain of yours can't make jokes."
"Well, it seems I've won the 1v1. I need to go home now, Kagami-kun." Kagami nodded.
"Ja ne," he said. Kuroko nodded, waving slightly. The two went their separate ways. Kuroko then bumped into someone.
"Ah, sumimasen..." he murmured. He helped the stranger up and walked away. He noticed some of the stranger's vanilla shake had spilled on him. He'd get it cleaned once he came home.
Once Kuroko arrived home and took a shower, he began finishing off some homework. The shirt with the vanilla shake was already in the laundry. Kuroko closed his laptop with a sigh and flopped onto his bed. After laying there for about a minute thinking about life, he rolled onto his back and took a mystery novel out.
Since the blue light always made it difficult to sleep, Kuroko would read until he fell asleep. It wasn't unusual for Kuroko to wake up with a book on his face. Kuroko began reading the novel, slowly drifting off to sleep. However, there was one part of the book that sort of reminded him of his Teiko days.
I sort of wished that they hadn't become how they were. The trauma they experienced...
Kuroko eventually fell asleep, unaware that the 'vanilla shake' wasn't actually a vanilla shake.
Kagami walked into Seirin with his usual scowl. As he walked past his fellow students, he noticed that he hadn't seen Kuroko. He assumed the boy was probably either a, getting a vanilla shake, b, in the library or c, practising basketball.
Kagami slumped down on his seat. The bell rang, and he saw Kuroko walk into class with a distraught look. Kuroko sat down and slapped his cheek, murmuring something. Kagami raised an eyebrow at that. Finally, Kuroko turned to him. "Ohayō, Kagami-kun," Kuroko said in his usual deadpanned tone. His facial expression had returned to normal, and there was nothing odd about him. Kagami mentally shrugged.
"Ohayō, Kuroko," Kagami said with a nod. He turned back to the teacher and tried to take notes. He ended up falling asleep.
"Oi! No sleeping in my class!" His sensei yelled, smacking him in the head. Kagami jolted up, looking up tiredly at the teacher. His sensei continued rambling on. Why did I get in trouble, and not him? Kagami looked behind him to find Kuroko asleep, resting on his hand while something pulled at his cheek. Odd. He thought.
The bell rang, signally that it was the start of break. Kuroko excused himself to the bathroom and brought the 8 kids to the bathroom. "Alright, listen, please stop pulling on my face, mini Kise-kun, Aomine-kun," Kuroko said in an annoyed tone.
"But Kurokocchi!" The tiny blond whined. Kuroko glared at him silently, effectively shutting the 5-year-old up. Kuroko sighed.
"As you saw, there are more than one you. They are older than you and go by the same names as you do. To make things less confusing, I'll give you a different first name. Is that ok?" Kuroko asked. The 7 of them nodded, turning towards their mini leader, Akashi. Akashi nodded at Kuroko.
"Mini-me, I'll call you Tetsune-kun. Akashi-kun, Senjūrō-kun. Murasakibara-kun, Atsuya-kun. Midorima-kun, Shintako. Aomine-kun, Daijō. Momoi-san, Satsure-san. Kise-kun, Ryoke-kun. Kagami-kun, Taike-kun. Are you ok with these new names?" Kuroko asked.
"Hai!" the 8 whisper-yelled. Kuroko sighed in relief.
"I'm resting my Misdirection Overflow at the moment. There are about 4 hours of school left. I'm not sure how long I can keep Overflow up for, but I'll excuse myself to the bathroom again when it does. Don't bother the other students or the teachers." The 8 nodded. "Ryoke, Daijō, Taike, nothing from you three, got it?" The three sheepishly nodded. Kuroko sighed.
When he awoke this morning, he was met with a book on his face, the usual. However, when he removed the book off his face, he noticed himself, Kagami, Momoi and the Generation of Miracles as children. He had panicked, thinking they had turned into children when he realised that he would be a child, but there was already a mini Kuroko Tetsuya in front of him.
He had to bring them to school since his parents weren't able to look after them, nor his grandparents. From what Kuroko had analysed, they were about 5 years old. They had no memory of the past or their future. All they remembered was their name. However, they still had their teenage knowledge. This meant they could talk like a teenager and didn't have to go to school. The 8 of them had the mentally of a 5-year-old, so they were picky with everything.
Akashi, his saviour for the hour, had managed to find some old clothes that they could wear that somewhat resembled his Seirin uniform. Momoi had tied her hair up in a masculine way and wore the boy's uniform since Kuroko didn't own any skirts. She could pull off the boy look surprisingly well.
Kuroko assumed it had something with the vanilla shake from yesterday. He had touched it (how it wasn't dried out surprised him), and it was definitely not vanilla shake. He didn't know where they came from, or what to do with them. He had spent the first 2 periods thinking about what to do.
He had concluded that he would take care of them. If the other Miracles, Momoi and Kagami wanted, they could help him take care of them. After all, they were sort of their younger brothers and sister now.
Kuroko managed to last until the end of the day, breaking his record of how long he can hold Misdirection Overflow. He made it to the basketball gym before he dropped onto the floor. "KUROKO?!" Aida yelled.
Kagami walked into the gym to see Kuroko passed out, a bunch of rainbow-haired kids surrounding Kuroko. "What the fuck happened here?!" Kagami yelled.
