Work Text:

“Did you get it?” Ahsoka asked, sitting up slowly from where she had been slumped against her rolled-up sleeping bag.

From behind his back, Anakin revealed a hot water bottle with a grin.

“Oh, you’re the best,” she breathed out with a laugh, reaching for it when he crouched down beside her.

“Careful, it’s really hot,” he told her, easing it into her hands. She flinched the moment that her fingers came in contact with it, pulling back.

“On second thought, maybe we should just let it cool off,” she said slowly, “How long did you keep it over the fire for?”

“Uh, long?” Anakin chuckled. “I’m not very good with all this stuff. I tried.” He shrugged, placing the water bottle on the ground.

“You’re better than you think,” she reassured him with a smile. “Did any of the boys ask you what you were doing?”

“No,” he said, settling an arm around her shoulders and stooping down to kiss the top of her head, his legs stretched out and crossed in front of him. “They just know that you’re staying with me tonight,” he continued. And then with a soft grin, “Nothing new.”

“Guess not,” she sighed, lying her head against his ribs.

“Anything I can do to help until it cools off a bit?” he asked when she squeezed her eyes shut again. He knew that her cycles were bad at the temple, but while they were away… forget it.

“Hmm,” she hummed thoughtfully. “You’re pretty warm, aren’t you?” she said, raising an eyebrow marking.

He shifted out of his current position, sitting up straight with a yawn.

“Where do you want me?” he asked knowingly.

She shrugged his arm off of her shoulders, twisting to the side to take hold of her sleeping bag. He helped her to remove the covering before laying it out between them.

“Grab that pillow over there?” he requested, pointing to her other side. She obliged, shaking the dirt off of it before dropping it unceremoniously at the top of their makeshift bed.

He slid beneath the sleeping bag’s flap first, waving her after him with a,

“Get on in here, Snips.”

She wiggled her way beneath the thin cover, laying on her stomach, on top of him to fit, pillowing her head in the crook of his neck, his natural warmth already beginning to soothe her cramps.

“Warm as you thought?” he asked, pressing his cheek to her montral.

“Perfect,” she replied with a contented sigh. “See? You’re very helpful.”

“Yes, your own, personal heating pad,” he teased, making her stifle a laugh with his shoulder. “One of kind, specially made, just for you,” he continued, indulging in her giggles.

“Yup, that’s all you’re here for,” she added, patting his shoulder with one hand before wrapping both of her arms around his neck.

“Exactly,” he agreed. “That’s what the Chosen One prophecy meant. Not bringing balance to the Force—helping Ahsoka with her period cramps.”

“Yes,” she agreed, nodding vigorously, her laughter growing even louder.

Shush!” he hissed, giggling along, “you’re gonna wake someone!”

“Stop making me laugh!” she whispered back, hitting his shoulder playfully.

“You know,” he began, tracing a finger over the stripes on her lekku, “the bottle is probably cooled off by now.”

“Oh,” she said back quietly. “Well, I think I’m good.”

She tugged softly on one of his arms to get him to roll over, pressing them closely together while they both laid on their sides.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah,” she said softly. “I’ve got you.”
