Summary:

Dadzawa Week 2021: Day 3 – prompts: Alternative Universe or Reminiscing

“Why are you following me?,” Shouta asked when he came to a stop in front of the other. The pink nose of the bunny twitched and Shouta once more felt reminded of a certain someone.

Notes:

It seems like I can’t decide on one prompt again, so you get a mix out of both for day three as well. I don’t know what’s wrong with me?! Send help XD

Yawning deeply, Aizawa Shouta stretched his back and slowly stood up from the spot he had napped on for the past couple of hours. The sun that had warmed the place and his black fur was slowly setting and it was time for the cat to return to the place he called home. Well technically, it was time for him to return to his husband, but if you put it like that, it just felt weird. Because Yamada Hizashi and him had been pro heroes and husbands in their previous life, alright? But in this life, things had somehow gotten mixed up. Not that Shouta knew the rules or how this worked exactly. What he did know, however, was that he was a cat now, a big black cat with the memories of his past life as a human and underground hero. And Hizashi? Well, the blonde was a human boy. A human boy who didn’t remember anything as far as Shouta could tell. Maybe it was because he was human or maybe it was because he was still a kid… who knew? But it didn’t matter anyways. Shouta had found him and he was going to protect and love him all the same. Everything else didn’t matter.

Slowly, Shouta made his way through the hidden parts of the town. It would be weird and dangerous for someone as small as himself to take the main routes and sidewalks. And being a former underground hero, Shouta preferred to take the hidden routes anyways. It made him feel a bit nostalgic and when he got to scratch a villain, well, that was a plus too sometimes.

While he made his way through the busy city, home to where Hizashi would be waiting for him, Shouta suddenly felt like he was being trailed. But every time he turned around, he couldn’t see anyone or anything. Frowning, he jumped up onto a container and hid behind an empty cardboard box, waiting for whoever was following him. And after a few moments, someone else entered the alley. Sniffing the air, Shouta caught a mix of fur, hay and… bunny? Peeking past the box and onto the ground, Shouta saw that there was indeed a bunny. A fluffy little thing with green fur, not even as big as Shouta’s head. The little bunny was sniffing around as well, seemingly looking for something. And then, they looked up… Shouta froze. Those eyes…. Rising to his paws, Shouta jumped down from the container, slowly making his way over to his stalker. Under normal circumstances, a bunny would have fled the scene as soon as they would have noticed the predator. This one however, kept their green eyes fixed on Shouta, staring up at him with a mix of curiosity and… hope?

“Why are you following me?,” Shouta asked when he came to a stop in front of the other. The pink nose of the bunny twitched and Shouta once more felt reminded of a certain someone. A reckless kid with green fluffy hair, an overpowered quirk and big dreams. But that couldn’t be him, could it? In all his years as a cat, Shouta hadn’t found anyone else from his previous life, aside from Hizashi. But his former husband had been the only one, no matter how much Shouta had searched.
“I-… I have something I need to ask you,” the bunny answered and that voice… Shouta’s heart ached in his chest and he couldn’t help but hope that he wasn’t going to get disappointed again.
“I don’t think that it’s the safest thing in the world to follow a cat of all things into an alley just to ask them a question… but ask anyways. You’re lucky I don’t eat little bunnies.”
The green guy flinched just a little bit but Shouta meant it. It was dangerous for a small thing like him to be out here in the city. How he had gotten here was a miracle already, seeing as the next park or zoo was pretty far away from where they were right now.

Big green eyes zeroed in on Shouta once more and then the other hopped even closer, sat up on his hind legs and:
“Are you Aizawa-sensei?”
The question seemed to float in the air between them for a small eternity and Shouta felt his heart pound hard in his chest. How long had it been since he had heard that name? How long since… but that meant…

Before Shouta could actually answer the question, the bunny started to ramble, one of his hind legs thumping nervously against the pavement. And somehow, that was very adorable. Scratch it, the whole bunny was adorable and cute and fluffy. Sue Shouta for liking cute things.
“You have to be him, I’m sure. You look so much like sensei with your black fur, your eyes, even the scar! And the way you move around the city and the way you talk, just like sensei! Besides, I asked some other cats and they think you’re a weirdo and you always stick to a loud blonde human-”
“Kid…,” Shouta tried to interrupt, but the bunny didn’t stop rambling. Until Shouta interrupted him with something the little fluff ball must not have been expecting – being called by his name.

“Midoriya Izuku!”

That actually worked. The bunny stopped rambling and his nose twitched again while he stared at Shouta like he was about to burst into tears. Not that he could do that with him being a bunny now.
“Yes, I’m Aizawa. Or was. Now I’m just Shouta,” Aizawa answered the question. And then, the big black cat was suddenly being tackled by the green bunny a.k.a. Izuku, the former pro hero Deku.
“Sensei! I finally found you. I’ve been looking forever, but there wasn’t nobody else, not even Kacchan and then I heard about you and I hoped… and now you’re really you!”
Izuku pressed himself close into Shouta’s fur, almost as if he was trying to hide himself inside of it. Leaning back a bit, Shouta wrapped his forefeet around the twitching bunny, trying to hold him. If they had been human, he was sure they would’ve been hugging. Damn, he would love to hug his former problem child. His heart fluttered and he found his own eyes burning as well, even though he too couldn’t cry.
“You found me, Izuku. I’m here.”

They spend the next hour or so in that alley, cuddling and talking. Shouta learned that Izuku had been born in an animal shelter and had escaped to look for his friends and family. But so far, he hadn’t found anyone else from their past life. Shouta shared his story as well and when it got late, Shouta picked up his problem bunny like he would take a small kitten and carried him home with him. And Izuku was more then happy to stay of course.

And if Hizashi would find his cat cuddling and caring for a green little bunny later that evening and if Shouta glared at his human when he came too close, scared that his human would take away his kid, well… let’s just say that the Yamada household gained a new family member from then on.

*End!*
