Let me love you till I die

Summary:

Fundy was always afraid to love.
Since he was a little child people told him, that the way he loves was wrong. So Fundy learned to never love, but all this ends when he sees Dream for the first time. Maybe loving wasn't all that bad.

Notes:

Work Text:

Fundy knew what he felt was wrong. So wrong that he could never tell anyone about it. Not his uncles and not friends, really absolutely no one, no matter how much he wanted to. He found someone, a very special someone. He had walked in on the first day at the start of the semester and Fundy was very much convinced that the other was a god or something like that. With his gold like hair, beautiful sapphire eyes, soft skin painted with freckles and a laugh that made the ginger melt. He was gone, lost in the perfection that was Dream. If Fundy wouldn’t fear the word, he would say that he was in love. Love however wasn’t something he was supposed to feel.

His granddad always told him that he doesn’t love. Fundy was like his Father, he loved so much, that others called it obsession. His Uncle told him to never be like his father, that Wilbur was insane and shouldn’t be allowed to live in their society. Fundy never understood Technoblade. Wilbur was a great dad and Sally was a beautiful mom, nothing was wrong with any of them. Until his parents fought. It was an ugly fight, but Fundy couldn’t remember the Details, even if he tried. The only thing he knew was that his mother left. Maybe she went back to the sea, as fish hybrids do a lot of times, but he never heard of her again. Wilbur was there for him after she left. Told him it was better that she left, that she didn’t deserve them, didn’t deserve him. Fundy believed his Father, loved him for not leaving him, too. His life became bright again. Wilbur gave him more attention, never left his side and tried to give him everything he asked for. The fox hybrid had loved it. That time sadly didn’t last. Wilbur’s dad had come by at some point, confused were his sons fiancé went. Wilbur told him and Phil had called him crazy. The ginger remembered how the blonde man had grapped him and pulled him away from his father. Till this day he didn’t understand why. Why had Phil called the men in uniforms? Why did Wilbur have to run? Why did Fundy never see him again? Why had his family not let him see his dad when he finally was found? Why did they take the one person that loved him, away? The questions were never answered. Phil had taken him to a woman. She had talked with him. At first she was kind, but then she told him lies about Wilbur. The woman had told him that Wilbur didn’t love him, that he had killed Sally and would’ve done the same to him. Fundy didn’t believe her. His mom had left them alone. It didn’t matter to him that she had died. She didn’t see the love Wilbur had for her and wanted to take everything from him. Fundy understood his father and knew that he would’ve never done the same as Sally. He told the woman that, but she still told him the lies.

Soon Phil and his uncles started to tell those lies, too. Fundy wanted to vomit every time he heard them, wanted to rip their eyes out for taking away his father. The fox hybrid learned that he couldn’t do that. When he was in middle school a kid had made fun of his ears. Wilbur had always told him how much he liked them and how cute his little champion looked with them, so he punched the child. Men and women in white had taken the child to a hospital and his teacher had called Phil. Fundy wasn’t allowed to come back. Instead Phil had gotten a teacher into their home. Fundy liked him, he was a very nice man. Phil was happy that Fundy liked the man. Fundy’s life continued like that. He visited the lying woman twice a week and saw his home teacher five times a week. He was still sad that Wilbur had left, but he could visit him. His father never answered when the ginger talked with the stone with the others name on it. That made Fundy sad. A lot of things made him sad, but he ignored that. Technoblade didn’t look at him and his other uncle Tommy was never home. Phil was there, but always looked at him like he was something dangerous. Fundy didn’t understand that. He wasn’t dangerous and neither had been Wilbur. The fox hybrid learned to live like everyone else. He got friends and was accepted into a good college. Phil didn’t look so disappointed anymore. Fundy believed that he was being good. Then Dream walked through the door.

Fundy never thought that the blonde would sit anywhere near him, but the ginger was surprised as the other asked if the seat beside him was free. With none of his friends in that lecture he nodded with his head. Dream looked grateful as he sat down. He had introduced himself and Fundy still felt the tingle of the blondes hand on his. As the day continued Dream stuck to his side. To Fundy’s surprise and probably luck, he and Dream had all their lectures together. This lead to them spending a lot of time with each other and slowly Fundy felt it. The feeling crept into his heart and he couldn’t stop it. He fell for Dream. Fundy was actually happy since he spent time with Dream. Phil didn’t notice the change in his behavior. No one did. Fundy didn’t care, because Dream noticed it. “You look way happier then when I saw you for the first time,” The blonde murmured into the ginger hair. Over time white strands appeared in the hybrids hair. At first Fundy disliked them, until Dream said that he found them beautiful. That was enough of a reason to never hide them. Dream liked it so Fundy would keep it, fearing that Dream would leave him otherwise. Fundy just smiled and cuddled up more into the older one. Dream knew why he was happier, Fundy did not need to say it. The blonde cooed at the hybrid and petted his ears. Fundy loved those moments.

After some time Fundy became jealous, that other people liked Dream and stole the blondes attention from him. Especially George. The fox hybrid despised the brunette with his entire being. How dare the shorter one flirt with Dream, when the other was clearly uncomfortable. So when George fell from the stairs and had to be put in a fake coma, Fundy was there for his friend. Dream had come to him, with tears streaming down his face and explaining what happened to his best friend. Fundy had comforted him all night and the blonde had stuck to his side for the next few days. That made Fundy happy. In a sick twisted way it made him feel giddy. Dream had come to him for comfort, not Sapnap or someone else from his friend group. The blonde had come to Fundy. This time Fundy wouldn’t have anyone else steal the other from him. Over the course of a few months something happened to Dreams friend group. Fundy was Dreams anchor. The only one that was there for the blonde man. The ginger had nothing to do with any of the accidents. He was innocent. After all they had it coming and Karma gets you at some point.

Now Fundy knew what he was doing was illegal, but how else was he supposed to do it? Dream never let anyone into his apartment, so Fundy had to break in. The lock was not really that hard to open. Wilbur had shown Fundy how to do it when he was a kid. Fundy really wanted to thank his Dad at that moment for teaching him something so helpful. With a click the door creaked open. Dream wouldn’t come home till tomorrow, he was staying at the hospital. Watching over George or something like that. Fundy would need to take care of that problem, but that later. Fundy scanned the others apartment. He ginger had kind of expected it to look a lot like this and that made his chest fill with pride, that he knew Dream so well. The ginger walked through the rooms slowly and took it all in. Everything about it was beautiful. He spotted a rope on the kitchen counter. That was weird, but sure. Continuing his way, Fundy tried to find Dreams bedroom, maybe he could sleep a little in the blondes bed. He opened every door and after a few minutes there was only one door left. Fundy felt how excited he was. He really was about to do this. With a smile he opened the door. His smile fell at the wall directly in front of him. The entire wall was covered with pictures of Fundy. Many were from his time in college, but there were also a lot from him in high school. Would this mean, that Dream knew him since then? Then why didn’t he talk with him. He looked around and on his left was a big plan for the year. They had October at the time, but still the entire plan was full of color. As Fundy looked more it turned out to be his schedule. What the? Does that mean Dream felt the same? That he also loved Fundy? Well, that was a matter for after he took a nap. Filled with joy the ginger kicked his boots of and crawled under the covers of the bed. It smelled like Dream and in a matter of seconds Fundy was asleep.

When Dream opened his bedroom door and saw Fundy in his bed, he felt joy. The blonde knew that the ginger had to break in, otherwise no one could come into his apartment. What he also realized was that Fundy probably had seen all the pictures Dream took of him, since he fell for the fox hybrid in high school. Fundy was laying in his bed, after seeing the pictures and the schedule that Dream made to know where Fundy was at all times. Now the day months ago finally made sense, when Dream watched Fundy push George down the stairs. Sadly George wouldn’t wake up anymore, he got an overdose of his medicament. How tragic yet fitting, for George to die in his sleep. The blond kicked his shoes off and lifted the blanket. He sat down beside Fundy and tangled a hand in the others hair. His beautiful ginger hair that was decorated by strands of white, the hybrids lips were opened slightly and Dream wanted to kiss them so badly, but for now he layed down beside the sleeping man. Fundy stirred but soon leaned into the warmth of Dream. With a content sigh Dream closed his eyes. He truly loved this boy.
