Chapter Text
The Battle of Hogwarts occurred in 1998, the final battle against Voldemort. Of course he wasn’t the last one to have such asinine ideas of blood purity or supremacy, but he was the last one he got close to overtaking the wizarding world in London, as he thought those there were superior to the rest of the world. Of course the other schools ensured they didn’t suffer from those attempts and did an excellent job in protecting their students and their people.
However there was a new threat. The non magical folk seem to be having a revolution with their technology, their surveillance and perception of the world around them was becoming better. The flimsy magic holding up the illusion of no magic was going to be found out. They were running out of time. So wizarding kind decided, or rather those with the Ministry of Magic decided to introduce magic to the world.
Wizarding kind could not have predicted how muggles would react. At first they were surprisingly accepting, then there was an attack. Another wizard believing themselves to be far more superior then the muggles. While compared to Voldemort he wasn’t even considered a threat, that was why he was able to get away with his attack at first. He was caught quickly after but the damage was done. The muggles now feared the wizarding world and decided the best way to deal with them would be to eradicate them. The U.S.A. bombed the Ministry of Magic, destroying half of London in 2006. This was prior to the invasion.
There once was a prophecy of the world ending in 2012, well it wasn’t to far off. The war was horrific, and possibly comparable to the World Wars. World War 3 it would come to be known. At first not everyone knew why they were attacking Europe, as magic was not common knowledge, only for those in the high command knew. The soldiers who were on the ground were barely warned ahead of time what they were actually fighting, and by the time they truly saw it the soldiers became even more blood thirsty in their fear.
At first it was the USA against what appeared to be London and Scotland. The other wizarding governments and schools attempted to keep a low profile seeing how poorly this went. They wanted to protect their people and children, there was only so much they could do. Then the USA government seemed to realize people were born with magic, they could be anyone.
Governments then began to attempt to determine who had magic, who was a possible threat. Then the witch hunts started. It was as if all the governments reverted back to the dark ages, they tried drowning people, burning them, any thing they could find in history books that may give them a clue who were magical. Then it became obvious children didn’t have complete control over their magic so they became an easy target for governments. Especially the orphans, with no one there to speak for them or protect them.
It was during one of the hunts where it appeared a whole army platoon were chasing a 3 children down an abandoned street, the buildings were graffiti. Where out of no one there was what appeared to be an angel coming down from the skies. God was real and was sending reinforcements to those protecting the good people. As clearly as the army saw the angels coming down from the heavens they also saw…red devils with tails and horns come for the children! They knew it! The magic folk were with the devil! The devils seem to grab the children, shielding them with their own bodies… Devils don’t shield, but they must be children of the devil that’s right. But they would be fine because the angels were on their side… they were still coming towards them, the angels. Wait the angels they had weapons in their hands and were flying at them…No! They were on the side of god, the angels had to know the devil was the enemy, why would they attack them. By the time the army platoon realized the angels were not on their side it was to late, the Angels were upon them. Using swords and magic alike.
By the time all was said and done, the 4 angels stood over the platoon bloodied and looked over to the devils, no the tieflings who were protecting the children. Eye contact was made and they both nodded, enough. They had enough of this horrific war. They would no longer stand by and allow innocents to be slaughtered just to maintain secrecy.
Apparently there was a whole other magical world hidden, not only from muggles but also from the wizarding world due to their constant attempts to prove their supremancy of other magical beings. So other magical beings hid themselves away hundreds of years ago, or they simply left this realm entirely.
With the help of the hidden magical beings the wizarding world was able to survive the attempted genocide, though it was a close one. With the Ministry of Magic gone there was no know known wizarding government in Europe anymore to organize, so a war council was formed. They were able to cast a new and improved version of the previous spell to keep the magical world hidden. This time much more affective and lasting.
The war council decided to make itself the new governing force in Europe, The High Council. It was comprised of multiple magical species, so everyone could be represented, perhaps not fairly but they were doing what they could with the little amount of time they had.
Other magical species were wary of the humans, for they were raised on how ruthless they were, and how they have attempted genocide on their people centuries ago and then with this recent war against magical people, humans were terrifying. However The High Council encouraged integration with their people, starting with schools. Children would lead the way, like so many times before them, children would be the ones to solve their problems.
Hogwarts became the ground for the most integration as it suffered the most losses, they had fewer human students to attend after WW3 then any other school so the other magical races were encouraged to send their children there.
Like many other times before the programmed worked but only due to getting more integrated staff, otherwise their curriculum would be incredibly stilted and biased. But with more staff meant more perspectives and even more knowledge of the magical world then the human wizards were fully aware of.
