Tommy loved Christmas like a child, he always celebrated with his family and it was always a joyful occasion for him. Delicious food cooked with love, decorations of all kinds and gifts.
But this Christmas is different because he will spend the eve alone with the love of his life Nikki, and then on Christmas day they would go together for lunch with his parents and his sister Atena.It was different and special because Nikki was fine, not like Christmas from last year who nearly died.
No, he wouldn't have thought about it, it was time to look forward.
Tommy wanted to do something special for his boyfriend, he wanted to surprise Nikki. He had given him a lot of presents, a new bass, some records that he would surely like and one other little thing that he had to choose carefully and to do so he asked his sister for help.
He had everything set up for the two of them, he would cook, even though it actually turned out to be more difficult than he thought but in the end he managed to get what he wanted. They would watch a movie with cuddling on the sofa, thinking of reluctantly rejecting Nikki's advances so as not to ruin his plans and would wait until midnight where he would finally give his wonderful boyfriend his presents.
It had taken Tommy years to convince Nikki that Christmas wasn't as bad as he thought. Although sometimes the bass player still acts a bit like the Grinch.
Everything was really ready, only his angel was missing and it was not long in coming. As soon as Nikki entered the house, Tommy hugged him so tightly that he took his breath away but the bassist was not complaining on the contrary nor did his take the opportunity to grab Tommy's ass and kiss him deeply, his intentions were clear but it was not yet time.
"No my love, this is for later" Tommy told him breaking away from Nikki's arms who was already pouting but soon his smile returned to full force, he had long ago understood that if Tommy had something in mind there would be nothing to stop it.
"Okay, my Tommy, what's on your mind?" Nikki asked, taking off his leather jacket.
"Let's go to the kitchen, I've made dinner." Tommy's joy was contagious.
"There's a lovely scent here." Nikki loved the smile of happiness Tommy showed when he got compliments.
"Thanks, I hope it's good too. It wasn't as easy as I thought but I borrowed some cookbooks from Mom" he really hoped it was at least edible, he tasted a little and it wasn't that bad but he was still scared.
"I bet it will all be delicious," Nikki reassured him kissing him on the cheek before sitting down at the table already set with lots of candles.
There was a bit of everything, combining various recipes from the tradition of their origins. Lasagna with meat sauce in the oven for Nikki's Italian origins, Souvlaki with a little Greek salad, obviously for Tommy's Greek origins and finally, for dessert, the chocolate brownie.
"Tommy, it was all perfect, all very good" Nikki said, taking Tommy's hand. "Thanks you didn't have to do this for me."
"I know but I wanted it, I'm glad you liked it" Tommy's heart was exploding with joy, everything was going well and Nikki's smile was the icing on the cake.
"We could watch a movie. I got it, Once upon a time in America. I know you love it." Maybe it wasn't the right movie for Christmas, but it was perfect for them.
"Yes my Tommy, I love it," Nikki said taking his plate to the sink, as did Tommy.
After cleaning the dishes they settled in the living room which looked so different from usual with the decorations and the big lighted tree by the window in the corner. Nikki was already curled up under the blanket while Tommy inserted the videotape and then reached his boyfriend and cuddled together.
They watched the film in peace, sometimes talking and commenting on some scenes, sometimes exchanging kisses. Tommy would check his watch every now and then because his didn't want to miss midnight, but luckily the film ended a few minutes earlier, giving him time to prepare some things.
"Stay here" he told Nikki giving him a quick kiss and disappearing.
He took some coke and the delicious cookies Voula had made for them and carried them into the living room. He put everything on a shelf and spread a blanket next to the Christmas tree. He was too busy to see Nikki getting up to grab something from his jacket. Once he was done arranging, he approached Nikki taking his hand and making him sit in the blanket.
"Merry Christmas, my love, I'm glad you are here." There was emotion in Tommy's voice but he tried to control himself.
"Merry Christmas, my Tommy, I'm happy to be here with you too" Nikki also felt like he wanted to cry because he understood what his boyfriend meant.
Tommy, shrugged off his bad thoughts and grabbed the coke and cookies, sure maybe the champagne toast was the best choice, but he didn't want to spoil it because they both promised to stay sober and clean, so it was okay and the cookies from the Mom were always welcome and he knew Nikki was crazy about them.
Tommy took two glasses, passed one to Nikki and placed the plate of sweets in the center between them, Nikki wasted no time and immediately took one in his hand, making Tommy giggle. After drinking and eating some cookies, or rather devouring all the cookies, Tommy got rid of plates and glasses in order to finally be able to give his presents to Nikki.
"I have some things for you” Tommy said enthusiastically.
"You did not have to..."
"Don't try," was all Tommy said, blocking any protest from Nikki.
First he took the records which tore a huge smile from his love and his eyes were suspiciously shiny, then it was bass time and Tommy earned a kiss that left him stunned.
"Thanks it's all wonderful, baby, I'm so lucky to have you," Nikki said before taking an envelope and a small package out of his pocket. "These are for you," he said then handing the present to his boyfriend.
Tommy first opened the envelope with his hands trembling with emotion. Inside were two return tickets to Athens, a vacation for two, his heart exploded with happiness and he hugged Nikki with everything he had in his, then took the other gift, a white gold bracelet with theirs engraved initials.
Tommy cried for joy as he kissed and thanked the love of his life, but there was still something he had to give him. He took the box of black velvet that he had hidden and getting on his knees took a deep breath, looked at Nikki who was speechless and tears in his eyes.
"Nikki Sixx, will you marry me," he said as he opened the box, revealing a silver band with a woven pattern all around and with diamonds to embellish the jewel.
"I know it's not legal but ..." was interrupted by Nikki's lips kissing him intensely once again.
"Yes Tommy Lee Bass, I'll marry you" Nikki whispered looking into those eyes he loved so much.
Tommy felt overwhelmed at that moment, that he could not take the ring to put it on Nikki's finger, but in the end with shaking hands he managed and kissed him where he just put the jewel.
"You taught me to love Tommy, you showed me what true love and friendship is. Even though I put you through hell, you are still here. I will never let you down again Tommy, I love you more than anything" Nikki said in tears.
"I love you too Nikki, and I will forever"" both of them were a mess of emotions as they kissed again with all the love there was in them.
"I want to make love to you Nikki Sixx Lee" Tommy whispered taking his future husband's face in his hands.
"Come on" is all Nikki said as he stood up and took Tommy's hand on his, intertwining their fingers, with the ring guarded between them.
