Chapter Text
Grayson couldn’t believe that she agreed to this. When she asked for permission to mentor Caitlyn, she made a promise to them to keep her away from this exact sort of “adventure”. But she can admit to herself that the girl had a way with words, and the next thing she knows, she’s on the bathysphere with one, very excited, 16-year-old, Caitlyn Kiramman. She is going to have such a headache when Cassandra finds out about this.
“Now, I expect you to do exactly as I instruct while we are down here Kiramman. This part of the city is not kind to itself, let alone outsiders.” Grayson says, nodding slightly to the rapidly darkening outside the window. She watches as Caitlyn straightens her posture, schooling her features and nodding slightly in acknowledgment. She sends the girl a smirk, before turning back to look out the window, the neon lights glowing brightly in the darkness. As much as I’m going to hate the attention it’ll most likely bring, the smartest move with Caitlyn here is to probably take the main road up to the Last Drop, that way there is no chance of either of us being cornered. I don’t want Caitlyn’s first time coming down here to be a bad experience, so that’s probably the best path for now.
“Ma’am, if you don’t mind me asking, where exactly in the Undercity are we going?”
Grayson looks back over at Caitlyn, to see that she is also looking out the window, eyes twinkling with excitement.
“I have a friend down here who owns a bar. I think that’s a good place to start. Good to get you acquainted with some of the good folk down here, even better for them to get acquainted with you.” Caitlyn nods her head softly, never taking her eyes off the window, as it comes to the end of the line, and the doors slowly open. Grayson chuckles as she watches the girl tentatively take a step towards the door, before turning towards Grayson, uncertainty washing over her form. “Come along then, Kiramman, we better get going so that I can have you home at a reasonable time for the scolding I’m sure to receive from your mother,” Grayson calls as she begins her exit from the bathysphere.
She keeps a close eye on Caitlyn as they make their way to the Last Drop, also looking out for anybody that might seem a little too interested in them. They successfully make their way to the bar, when Grayson stops in front of Caitlyn, turning to address the girl.
“Now, just walking over here, I’m sure you’ve seen things that you never have in Piltover. I am going to warn you only once that the people in the Undercity don’t take well to enforcers, nor those associated with them. I’ve come out uniform today, but I do not doubt that some will still recognize me. I need you to keep your head down, and don’t make yourself a target, do you understand? Don’t react to anything anyone might say, or do, or throw. Vander keeps a pretty tight ship, so I don’t expect too much resistance, but I’m warning you nonetheless, as you never know what could go wrong.” She pauses, as she watches Kiramman nod slowly, concern and curiosity written all over her face. “Alright, well no time like the present. Keep aware, and let’s go.”
With that, she opens the door, scanning the bar, letting her shoulders relax only slightly as she sees that Vander, is in fact, manning the bar. She watches as he glances up as the door swings open, freezing as he sees her standing there, a questioning look on his face. He does a quick once over of the bar, gauging reactions before slowly gesturing her over. His face lights up with surprise when he sees that she has someone with her.
“Well, who do we have here Miranda?” he says, smiling down at Caitlyn with a kind face.
Vi watched Vander’s back, smirking as she saw him get distracted by some new people walking in. She didn’t bother waiting to see who he was talking to, knowing that this was their best chance.
“Go, go, go,” she whispers to her siblings, smirking, and leading them behind the small stage that Vander has set up for them. He can be mad later, but right now, I want to try out these new songs. She watches smugly as the boys quickly hop up on the stage silently, thanking the heavens that Vander kept the lights off on the stage when it wasn’t being used.
Speaking of lights, I wonder how Pow-Pow and Little Man are doing on getting our light and sound panels back from Vander’s office. She scans the bar, looking for the blue and white combination that she has come to associate with the chaotic duo. In doing so, she finally gets a look at just who Vander is talking to. Is- Is that a couple of Pilties? The fuck are they doing here? And why the fuck does Vander look so comfortable around them? Vi feels a wave of annoyance and anger wash over her as she realizes that Vander is smiling, leading them to a booth and sitting with them. Is he just going to let them stay?! Fine, we were gonna be subtle, but now I think it’s time to annoy the fuck out of Vander. She smirks to herself before she finally catches sight of Powder and Ekko. She waves them over, pointing to behind the stage. She sneaks herself back around the stage, crouching down next to where Ekko and Powder have started setting the equipment up. She also gets Mylo and Claggor’s attention, gesturing for them to join the huddle.
“Ok guys, so this is how we are gonna play this…”
