Work Text:
“Can I see it?”
A thrill ran down Tony’s spine.
“Yes.”
Their eyes met as he slowly unbuttoned the top few buttons of his shirt.
Tony shivered as Maria’s slim fingers skimmed the delicate lettering along his collarbone.
Her name penned in her hand, beautiful and delicate.
Just like her.
This was the most vulnerable Tony had felt in a long time.
The most complete he had felt for a long time.
He had been searching for Maria for longer than he could remember.
The moment he locked eyes with her he just knew.
That she was his and he was hers.
That she was his everything.
After a minute Maria looks away.
Her face is flushed.
“Can I see yours?”
“Not yet. Not here.”
Tony’s smile stretched wider.
“I can wait.”
They walk together for a moment.
Hand in hand.
“Do you know anyone who has found their named?” He asks.
“No.”
Maria’s forehead furrows.
“Anita lost hers when she was very young.”
“And your brother?”
“We don’t talk about ‘Nardo’s name,” she murmured quietly. “It’s forbidden.”
A memory stirs.
Riff in pain, covered in blood. Trying to destroy his name. Now it was a mass of scars.
Tony frowns.
“Do you know what it says?”
“No,” she shook her head. “They never told me.”
Tony looks at Maria for a moment before he leans forward and presses a kiss against her temple.
They continue to walk in comfortable silence.
One hand.
One heart.
