Work Text:
Never would Childe have thought of ever wearing glasses. He wasn't opposed to the idea, as long as he could see clearly, he was totally fine with it. Except for the fact that he couldn't risk getting into another fistfight in the hallways and potentially breaking his glasses. His mother would probably beat the shit out of him. Snezhnayan moms are terrifying.
Childe fiddled with his new glasses, slightly annoyed at the discomfort it was causing to his nose bridge. At least it was better than wearing those god-forsaken things called eye lenses, which he had attempted to wear with the help of his little sister. Tonia had given up on helping him soon after due to him fidgeting a bit too much, leaving only himself to rely on. He, too, also gave up. Poking himself in the eye accidentally every 5 seconds wasn't exactly fun.
Right, speaking of glasses, doesn't Lumine like guys with glasses? Maybe... he could actually have a chance with her? Maybe he'd get to hold her body close to his, hold hands, share meals together or watch a movie snuggly on his sofa while sharing a blanket — or maybe even get to peck her soft cheeks without warning and watch as her face turns red. And, and after that- he could hear her whisper his name under him, feeling her breath against his skin and their heat radiating off one another—
Focus, Childe. Focus!
Childe groaned for the nth time that day. Great, now that he had a not very innocent image of a certain golden-haired girl in his head, how was he going to get through this math quiz?
Lumine's crush on that troublemaker from class 3A was painfully obvious. Everyone who saw them talking could see it. They could see the way Lumine would hesitate to get words out whenever the ginger would flirt with her ruthlessly, or how she would daydream in class right after the encounter with the boy. In other words, she was terribly, irrevocably in love.
Everyone knew that both of them liked each other. It was as clear as day. So, how the hell were they so oblivious to each other's feelings? If you asked a student what their worries in life would be, they would most probably answer with 'Lumine and Childe's relationship status' instead of the upcoming exams.
Nobody actually knew why she liked him. She was a ball of sunshine, never failing to make anyone smile. She's had tons of admirers over the years, and let's be real here, who wouldn't have a crush on such a lovely girl? On the other hand, you have Childe. He was one of the most famous boys in school, always wreaking havoc here and there. Obviously, the girls loved him, mostly for his looks. He'd wink at them, maybe even blow kisses occasionally, but he never took them seriously. Well, you know what they say. 'Opposites attract', and they sure do.
It was now recess, and Lumine found herself in her classroom finishing off her homework instead of eating with Amber and Barbara. Stuck in her own little world, she couldn't bring herself to be aware of things happening around her. She needed to focus, get it done—
But how could she possibly focus when her crush walked into her class.
Moreover, with glasses on?
Lumine swooned.
The auburn-haired boy turned his head to Lumine and waved, giving her a boyish smile when she didn't reply. Even when he took a seat next to her, pulling out his phone and scrolling through social media, she was still staring at him, no matter how hard she tried to distract herself from his stupidly handsome face. She couldn't help but admire his chiseled jawline and the freckles across his cheeks. But what really caught her attention was his half-framed glasses and his deep blue ocean eyes. She wanted to drown in them.
Lumine didn't know why, but she had always had a thing for guys in glasses. It added to their attractiveness, and she couldn't deny the fact that it made them all the more sexier. Now that her crush, who was already extremely good-looking, had glasses, how could she not fall even more head over heels for him?
"Staring is rude, y'know." Childe looked at Lumine from the corner of his eye with a smirk formed on his mouth. Lumine stuttered and immediately looked away when she realized she had been staring at him for a bit too long. She hoped she didn't look creepy.
"I-"
"Ah... these glasses really are a nuisance."
Childe pulled the glasses to hang off right at the tip of his nose, his blue eyes meeting her golden ones. More blood rushed to her cheeks. "A-Ah, is that so?" He could only chuckle and bring himself to his feet, walking towards Lumine with his hands in his pocket. He cornered her, towering over her as her back was pushed against the wall in her seat. She wasn't sure if she should be glad that she chose a seat next to the wall.
"You're adorable, you know that?" He pulled his right hand out of his pocket and caressed her cheek, then took her chin in between his fingers and pulled it up to make her look him in the eyes again. He could tell her eyes were wandering somewhere else, anywhere other than his face.
"Look at me."
Her eyes slowly trailed back to his, and all she could see in them was... adoration.
Without wasting any time, the boy took off his glasses and placed them on Lumine's face—
"Hey! What are you doing-"
—and placed a kiss on her forehead.
He pulled his glasses back and put them on again, enjoying her stunned face. It took her a good 3 seconds to realize what just happened. She blushed furiously.
...
"YOU IDIOT!"
Childe laughed and ran away from her seat, Lumine chasing after him with her eyebrows furrowed. Damn him and his long legs...
After a couple minutes of chasing after him, he turned his body back and caught her in his arms, her head resting against his chest. She could hear his heartbeat quickening by the second, and they stayed like that, gasping for air and giggling to themselves.
"So... you like guys with glasses, right?"
He really, really should've expected a punch to the stomach.
