Work Text:
tfw your first crush in a new world doesn't seem interested and a hot aristocrat lady appears and they're already on first name basis.
Who will she sulk to? Lumine has no idea, she's just more upset than she expected.
Barbara had already given her a "I'm so sorry for your loss" pat on the back, before she got called away for church duties.
Diluc never does well in the feelings department, and Venti is very likely to tell her to give it a shot anyway.
But it's not that easy to just go up to someone and say: "hey I like you, you gave me wings to fly and I wanna date but I might also leave this world one day and even if I don't i'll outlive you because I'm immortal!!"
So much baggage.
Amber is grounding and sweet and so good, but it gets grating that all she ever is to her is Honorary Knight.
“IS THAT ALL I AM TO HER.” Screams Lumine as she barges into Mona's apartment unannounced.
The astrologist screeches, as if she didn't see on today's reading that a strange foreigner would stomp into her house weeping about a romance that ended before it could begin.
Lumine does not care.
“WILL I ALWAYS BE HONORARY KNIGHT FOREVER.” She continues, flopping dramatically onto Mona's musty couch.
"What is wrong with you." The astrologist deadpans. She's in the middle of something, if Lumine bothered to look up. Looks magical. Unlike her LOVE LIFE--
"do you do romance readings. can i get one please." Lumine stares up at the ceiling and refuses to return Mona's attempts at catching her eye, lest she sees pity in them (it's mostly irritation now).
"Um."
"please let me know if i got a chance in this universe."
"Lumine, you know I can't read anything from you-"
"Mona I will Beg."
Mona is a split second away from asking her to do exactly that, but she's benevolent, so she won't.
She sighs, pretends to do a reading (because the Traveler's stars are in a place so hard to reach, blocked out by a dense fog) and gasps.
"Wow!" She exclaims, clearly exaggerating her voice. "You're going to be loved by everyone. They'll fall heads over heels for you. And you'll love them all too. It's a love polygon. Nay, a love tesseract even. I'm so happy for you."
Lumine sniffles. "You are?" Tears well up in her eyes.
In the face of such extreme emotion, Mona finds herself backed into a figurative corner.
"I am. So much." She manages to squeak, not meaning it for a second.
This appeases the Traveler, because she rolls off the sofa to squeeze her in what feels like a stranglehold, whispers a heartfelt "Thank you" in her ear and runs out the door like a horde of slimes were on her tail.
Mona stares at the open doorway, and wonders if she should invest in a new lock.
