Hello! This story is heavily inspired off of #GentlyWithaChainsaw’s “Derek’s Baby boy”, and is heavily inspired off of it. (HOWEVER I haven’t actually watched teen wolf, so this is more or less my own Werewolf Au!) I will mention a lot of things in Gentlywithachainsaw’s story, since it fits into this one very well.
We’ll start off with a good lil info dump before we get into the story :)
Werewolves and humans are very often seen as the same. Well, counting the fact that werewolves can shift into actual wolves, that is. But biologically, they are far different than humans.
To start off, they are simply larger. The average human ranges from 5”5- 6”2, while a typical werewolf can be upwards of 8 and 9 feet. Along with this is the assumable extra strength werewolves behold.
Now, one of the major differences is their family bonds. Werewolves instinctually care more for their family members and friends far more than a human would. Their loyalty knows nearly no bounds.
With this comes a Were’s extreme maternal instincts. Werewolves care for their pups more than anything in the world, and are more than willing to put their lives at risk for their child. Werewolves almost never abandon their children thanks to their overpowering instincts.
Now, you often know of Werewolves living amongst packs, which is very much true. All wolves belong to a pack, and the size of a pack varies. According to pack law, a pack consists of five wolves: The alpha, their beta, and at least three deltas. That is the bare minimum for a pack to legally exist. Now, most packs aren’t near that small a size, your pack standing is close to nothing with such a small pack. The largest packs are known to have upwards of thousands of members, and are known as familiar packs. Packs consisting of 100 or less members are known as Ordered packs. The smallest ordered packs that are stable enough to hold together typically have around 20 members, but that’s the smallest of the small.
Now, along with packs is the society. The society is organized of werewolves who protect all packs, ensure the safety of everyone inside their territories, and observe any and all humans that interact with werewolves whatsoever.
Now that you know a bit more about werewolves, lets go back to the instincts of a were. Their instincts to care for others is often overwhelming, and it isn’t uncommon for werewolves to have pups in their early 20’s. Werewolves often never get tired of the attitudes, messes, and issues that young babies and toddlers create. If anything, they revel in that stage of their child’s life. Most were parents will tell you that they miss their pups being crying, whining little babies that need their mommies and daddies for every little thing.
Due to a were’s massive instinct to protect and care for a baby, the society has created a solution for those who either are unable to own a child, or only want to care for a baby and don’t want to see that child grow up : Littles.
Littles are hand-selected humans who are physically and mentally capable to regress back to a toddler or child’s state of mind. The picking process is a long and specific process, but the chosen humans that are picked are removed from the human world, and transferred to a facility in the confines of werewolf territory. that facility chemically alters them, before giving them to Werewolf parents who now have a human baby all to their very own.
A little is probably the most humane outcome of a werewolf interacting with a human. If a werewolf doesn’t outright kill a human, then it is taken into the werewolf society, and often the consequences of that are far worse. Some humans are chemically altered to become werewolves, which is a horrific and terribly painful process. Only a handful of humans have ever survived the process, which is the reason it is done. Torture is more than common, and any cruelty laws are thrown away in the werewolf society if it comes to humans.
If the human isn’t being tortured to death, then it is often being kept for some other reason. The society provides many different ways to keep humans, and provide them with the correct training and chemical alteration to make them safe enough to co-exist with werewolves.
Probably the second worst outcome for a human in the werewolf society is to be taken as a slave. Instead of being physically tortured for a number of days or weeks and then killed, they are physically and mentally tortured for the rest of their lives. Little to no medication is required for slaves, werewolves are creative enough creatures that don’t need to rely on that to create an obedient, brainless slave. They are beaten and abused into submission, all forms of assault are used on slaves. This is done for the rest of their pitiful existence, and they are trained into thoughtless beings that only know to obey their masters. The brutality of slaves is very much real. Due to this, Human slaves are handpicked from listings of werewolf hunters, or anyone that has done anything in the human world that could majorly affect werewolves. This way, werewolves have more than enough reason to treat these humans this way. Not that they didn’t have reason before, but the humans turned into slaves are simply more deserving of eternal punishment.
Some werewolves keep humans as “breeders.” Since a werewolf is capable of impregnating a human, and the werewolf gene will always overpower the human one. This is often the solution for having babies in most packs, since for a werewolf who isn’t an alpha, their body will physically shut down, denying the ability to fertilize.
Now, the process of raising a werewolf pup is excruciatingly painful and uncomfortable for a human, but having healthy pups for a pack will always be higher priority than a human’s life.
Humans are typically pumped with hormones, so that the likelihood of carrying a child, and desire to keep it is much higher.
The final outcome, and arguably the most safe, are littles. Littles are the most selectively picked outcome for humans. It isn’t as simple as seeing a human on the side of the road, taking it home and putting it in a diaper. The selection process is very judicious, and only the humans who are smallest, and most likely to regress back are the ones taken to become littles. They are given a series of hormones that aid in regression, some of which are required by the society, most of which are up to the decision of the little’s new parents. The parents are required to take a series of classes and assessments if they wish to own a little, and if the society suspects a little is not being cared for correctly, they are within their right to confiscate that little, and rehome it to a more fitting home. Littles are seen like actual babies in a werewolf’s eyes, and have the most resources for their care and wellbeing than breeders or slaves. They are loved and coddled more than anything, and they satisfy the unshakable desire weres have to care for a little pup.
Littles often have a shorter lifespan, often due to muscle atrophy and the after-effects of the hormones put into them. On average, littles live between 15-20 years. In their time, they are very much loved and cared for.
All kinds of parents exist in all kinds of packs, with all kinds of mommies and daddies and babies.
