“It was a cool Halloween night just like this, three kids were getting ready to go trick-or-treating when suddenly…. BANG”, As Carlos yelled bang there was a loud slamming sound on the door.
Carlos was babysitting his little sister and two of her friends, telling them all ghost stories hoping someone would bang on the door. He went to the door to see who it was, he opened the door to see his friend Nathan. Carlos’s little sister walked over to the door to check out what was going on.
“are you going out?”, she asked in a snobby voice. “Yes Maddy I am going out, I’ll be back later”, Carlos stated knowing Maddy will probably tell their mum when she got home from the party she was at. “Mum sai-“, Maddy started talking but Nathan cut her off. “it’s okay, I’ll give you whatever candy you want from my bag after trick-or-treating.”, Maddy smiled at Nathan, she nodded then walked back to the living room with her friends.
After a while Maddy and her friends when off trick-or-treating with miss Williams from down the road. Carlos and Nathan were on their way to Allie’s house where Allie and Maxine were staying. They climbed in through Allie’s window which was a stupid idea cause Nathan was cut on a broken bit of glass.
They sat with Allie and Max in the living room for a few hours trying to figure out things to do. “there is literally nothing to do here in Kentucky on Halloween”, Max said tapping her foot on the floor. Allie thought for a second and came up with an idea. “well, there is a corn-maze just down the road”, Carlos and Nathan agreed but Max was scared. “no way those things creep me out.”, “well I guess you will have to stay home alone, let’s just hope the Night Stalker doesn’t get you”, Allie says giggling. “the Night Stalker wasn’t in our state you doosh and he is in prison”, Carlos, Nathan and Allie walked out of the door, Max run after them and said. “fine I’ll go but it’s not my fault if we get killed”.
The group got to the maze, the walked around the maze laughing and screaming with all the jump scarers hiding in the corn dressed as scarecrows and zombies. Nathan got to a dead end, Carlos got to one too, but Allie found a way to go but it had tape blocking it off with a big sign saying ‘do not pass, off limits’. She called out to the rest of the group, and they came around the corner, Nathan laughed, “come on lets go in”, Max glared at him then pointed to the sign. They stood at the tape reading the sign over and over again, Nathan hoping it would disappear and Max hoping Nathan would give up and walk a different way.
After a long few minutes of staring at the sign Nathan decided to just walk under the tape and run ahead. The rest of the group followed. They lost Nathan for a bit, walking along the corn waiting for Nathan to pop out and scare them. The air grew cold, and the sky began to darken, they didn’t feel like they were meant to be there. Carlos checked the time, it was 12am, the last time he checked the time it was only 9pm. They rounded the corner again waiting for Nathan to pop out and say he was messing with them like he normally would, but he didn’t.
They walked for what felt like hours, their legs were sore, their hearts beating fast, their minds filled with the thought they would never see their friend again. They rounded a corner losing all hope Nathan would be there, but he was, Nathan was there, on the floor with what looked like bite marks on the sides of his face as if something had his head in their mouth. Allie ran off and so did Max, they couldn’t stand seeing their friend like that. But Carlos just stood there, staring, trembling, crying.
Kentucky News: “Four kids have been found dead in a part of a corn maze this morning with bite marks on the face. No one knows who did it but police have shut down the maze and are investigating the scene.”
