Chapter Text
In the distance, a crow caws. There are cries in the town square, the people are mourning. The pushing of arms and the never stopping pulsing of the crowd is almost impossible to stand still in. Wings flap and get closer. The cries turn into screams.
Through the waves of cries and more, there is a dull ringing in the ears of a golden haired boy. He cannot hear or see the imminent danger; he is blinded to the way the terrified screams turn into the gargled sounds of anguish that accompany a massacre.
Dead .
A chalice filled with wine. In the dim light it looks like blood. A man takes a sip. It spills down his chin.
Poison .
The man is now laying in bed. His mouth is unhinged and he looks disgustingly unhuman. From his mouth blood overflows and spills onto his chin, his cheeks, and his bed. In the dim light it looks like wine.
Peace .
A crowned skull sits atop a throne, where a king once sat. It mocks the boy who kneels in front of the golden and bejeweled throne. The broken jaw makes it seem that the skull is perpetually laughing, and if the boy listens to the silence he can almost still hear the shrieking laughter the king used to produce.
An electric blue butterfly takes a rest on the skull. It’s gentle and for a moment, the golden boy is at peace. He snatches the crown away from the skull and, as he does, the skull comes to life with a gnashing jaw that tries to bite the boy. He runs away.
Coward .
A porcelain statue with his eyes missing.
A black billowing shadow reaching out.
An armored individual charging.
A discarded masquerade mask.
A glowing necklace.
A wilting flower.
A rotting reef.
You aren’t good enough .
The golden boy is suffocating.
It’s time to wake up Theseus .
Theseus?
Tommy?
Tommy!
Theseus awakens. Today is a new day.
One day until his coronation.
