Work Text:

“Din!” you exclaim, excitement seeping out of your voice.

You hear a grunt, followed by a few clicks and switches.

“Din, come look!” you call impatiently up the ladder to the cockpit.

“‘M coming, sweetheart” he says, a hint of annoyance lacing his voice, but you knew he didn’t mean it.

After tirelessly chasing bounties for the past few weeks, you convinced Din to take a break from the grind of consistently hunting bounties. You could tell he was getting worn out from the constant stream of bounty pucks being thrown at him. So here you were now, on some random, sparsely populated planet, away from the chaos and danger of bounties and battles. The ramp of the Crest was lowered, allowing you to take in the view of the outside. A steady stream of rain was pouring from the sky, dark clouds dancing in the sky as the wind pushed them away. A series of trees sway in the wind, droplets of rain dripping off the leaves.

A gust of wind blowing into the Crest ruffles your hair, your clothes rippling against your body. It takes your breath away, a small smile erupts from your face as you inhale the smell of rain. You hear the sound of heavy boots hitting the floor as Din slid down the ladder from the cockpoint. He stands next to you, your head barely reaching his shoulder as he leans his weight towards you. He grips his belt in one hand, his other hanging idly by his side. Another gust of wind blows up and into the Crest, filling you with life.

Before you know it, you’re walking down the ramp and out into the rain. You let the rain dribble down your face, a slight chill runs up your spine.

“Sweetheart, what are you doing?” you hear Din call out behind you.

You turn around to look at him, a smile erupting from your face. You wave your hand to him, beckoning him to follow you. He stares at you for a moment, unmoving from his safe spot in the Crest.

“It’s not that bad! Come on, Din!” you reassure him. You look up towards the dark sky, watching the clouds swirl low in the sky. The rain begins to come down with more force, but not enough for it to warrant you to go back inside.

Din stands there, seemingly unsure what to do. He hesitates, unmoving from his position inside the Crest. You twirl around and laugh.

“Din, there’s nothing to worry about! No one’s out here. Besides, you could have fun ” you urge him, a teasing tone coming from your voice.

He lets out an audible sigh before dropping his stoic demeanor. He slowly walks towards the edge of the ramp, pausing before the underpass, as if questioning whether or not he’s making the right choice.

You beckon him over once more, frantically waving your hands towards him, a smile plastered on your face. His heart leaps in his chest as he looks at you, his face warming up from your excitement. He crosses over the threshold of the ship, letting the rain engulf him. Water runs down the sides of helmet, slipping off the rim and down his chestplate.

He walks slowly over to you, approaching you with a quiet air around him. You smile up at him before grabbing his gloved hands, pulling him closer to you.

“See, I told you it wasn’t so bad” you beam up at him, a playful smirk crossing your face.

“C’mon” you say gently, pulling yourself from him, only an arms reach away. You’re still holding his hands as you lean back, moving your foot backwards as if to start a little dance.

“I– I don’t dance” he mutters as you attempt to coerce him to move with you. He tightens his grip on your hands, leather creaking from the movement.

“Let me lead you, then” you whisper, flitting your eyes upward towards his dark visor.

You move your foot backwards once more, sliding it across the muddy grass. He slides his foot towards your own, looking down to ensure he doesn’t miss a step. You side step, swaying around in a small circle, pulling him along with your languid movements. The sound of the rain becomes a sort of melody, a guiding force of your movement and tempo as you hold onto his hands. As Din becomes more confident in his footwork, he takes the liberty of dragging you into a spin, lifting your arm above your head, gently prompting you to twirl around. Water drips down your face and into your eyes, slightly blurring your vision. He pulls you back into him, your face meeting his drenched chest. You throw your arms around his torso, cheek resting on his chest plate. His strong arms come around to wrap around your waist, pulling you in impossibly closer. You both sway gently, letting the rain envelop you, water dribbling down, drenching every crack and crevice.

Din pulls back slightly, prompting you to look up with a slightly confused expression laced on your face. He releases his grip from around your waist, pulling his hands up towards his helmet. You look up silently, unmoving from your position. The hiss of the helmet disengaging permeates the air, wind picking up slightly. He pulls the helmet off in one fluid motion, dropping it to the side.

You crane your head upwards and make contact with his dark eyes. Your hands come up to his face, clasping his cheeks with your gentle touch. His hands move to cover yours, not breaking eye contact with you.

“I–” you squeak out, suddenly embarrassed at how quiet the last few moments were.

“What is it?” his voice was husky and deep, ringing in your ears.

“Nothing” you whisper, lost in his gaze. “Just…kiss me. Please.”

He dips his head down to your height, breath spanning over your face before bringing his lips to your own. A sharp inhale escapes your nose as you crane your head towards his mouth, kissing him like there was nothing else in the world. The rain continues to run down your face, water from his hair dripping onto your forehead and nose. You break away from the kiss, taking a deep breath before kissing him once more. His hands come to grip your hips, pulling you into him even farther. You throw your arms around his torso, one of your hands coming up into his hair. He lets out a groan as you pull his hair softly, prompting him to deepen the kiss. You finally pull away from him, his forehead rests on your forehead, taking deep breaths from the lack of oxygen from the kiss. You both continue to gently sway, rocking back and forth, enraptured with each other's presence.

Your face warms from the pure adoration you have for Din. Your big, strong, gentle, Mandalorian. The man you wanted to be close to forever.

You let out a content sigh, wishing to remain in this moment for the rest of time.
