Chapter One: Izuku Izuku laughed freely as Luz and Marcy made faces at him, squishing their cheeks together, and sticking out their tongues. Smiling, he waved goodbye to his friends, and trudged back to the orphanage. The Wu’s had offered to foster him, but he couldn’t take their pity offer, no matter how much he wanted to. It didn’t help that he somehow had naturally green hair and pointy ears, that he covered his hair with a beanie at all times, and everyone decided to avoid him to avoid being ‘cursed’. He arrived at St. Gringos, and took off his shoes at the door, avoiding the caretaker, and silently walking upstairs. Tomorrow was Luz’s birthday, and he still needed a gift, and he wanted it to be perfect for her. Suddenly, the caretaker screeched, a banshee-like squeal echoing through the orphanage. “IZUMI! GOOD NEWS YA BUGGER! GET DOWN HERE!” The boy cringed, and then sighed. More deadnaming. Woo~! Izuku rushed downstairs, and was met with the sight of a man who looked almost dead, eyes sunken in, and sickly pale. “Izumi! I found someone to take you in.” The caretaker smiled softly. “This is Yagi Toshinori, he’s going to foster you.” “Hello Young Lady!” The sickly man boomed. Izuku growled. “I’m a boy.” The man looked at him in pity. “This misguided judgment is why I’m fostering you! We’re going to get you all the way to my home in Japan, and shake these… silly teenage rebellions out of you!” Suddenly Izuku is on the floor, his head pounding. What happened? He tasted copper and his eyes widened in realization. Yagi hit him. “See! All you need is some discipline!” The man boomed. Izuku’s already less than friendly demeanor turned hostile, and he sprinted upstairs and started grabbing stuff from his room. His journals, some clothes, his phone, etc. Climbing out the window, he dropped down into the branches of the tree below, and quickly ran to the library. What was he gonna tell the others? Shaking his head, he grabbed a book off the shelves and quickly relaxed while reading. He always took his mind off of the trials of his life with a good book. Strangely enough, the book was a fantasy one this time, on something called the Calamity Box, something that let you travel between worlds. Smiling, and wishing he could use it and explore with his friends, he took a picture of it and went on his way. ——— The Calamity Box was in the store. He was so lucky! But.. would his friends even want to go? Izuku knows Luz was getting sent to summer camp, and would love to not go, but she loved her mom! What if he messed things up for her? Like the stupid, weird, tranny he was. No. She’ll love it! And Marcy was always ranting about the wonders of fantasy worlds, she would love to finally get to learn magic! He sends a quick text to the group chat, slips the music box into his backpack when the cashier's back is turned, and slips the music box into his bag, fingers brushing over the gems. ——— Luz quickly biked over to the park, Marcy not far behind her joy turning into worry for her friend, when she saw his nervous expression. “Hey Greenbean? Are… are you ok?” She asks tentatively. The boy nods, and eyes sparkle. “I got you a gift Luz!” He says, holding his backpack nervously. He scratches the back of his neck. “I know it’s weird and stuff, but I figured… you’d be able to remember me through it. Ya know, cause I’m weird.” Luz gives him a deadpan stare. “You’re not weird.” “I have naturally green hair and pointy ears. How am I NOT weird.” “Cause you’re with us!” Marcy giggles finally getting over there. “That just makes me weirder.” Izuku grabs the Calamity box and gives it to Luz, who immediately turns the key, too soon for Marcy to stop her. “NO! DON’T-” A bright flash, and they’re all gone ——— Izuku was falling out of the sky. Luckily, there were some people down below. Unluckily, he was falling from too high and most likely onto the rocky bridge that he looked down at. Grimacing, he prepares himself to be an Izuku pancake, when he just… stops. He’s lowered gently down, and immediately turns around to see a boy, with blonde hair not much older than him, looking at him with curiosity. Izuku decides to start the conversation. (Look @ that folks he’s so~ outgoing.) “So~ how’d you stop me from becoming a scrambled egg?” The blonde looks taken aback, and slightly confused. “I used magic?” Izuku laughs, unnatural green curls bouncing around. “No, no seriously though, how’d you do that?” The boy deadpans, and takes out a staff, using it to lift the pebbles around them. Izuku gasps, and looks at the boy in wonder. Suddenly he remembers his friends, and immediately calls out for them. “Wait-? Luz? Marcy? LUZ?! MARCY?! GUYS THIS ISN’T FUNNY!” He turns back to the blonde boy. And… he- he has pointy ears too… “W-Where am I?” The boy looks incredulous as he laughs boisterously. “Why the Boiling Isles of course!” Izuku looks at the boy in front of him in shock. “Ok, so magic is real, I’m no longer on Earth, Luz is missing, and there’s someone else with pointy ears. This is fine- everything is fine.” Blonde puts his hand on Izuku’s shoulder. “You need to meet with the emperor, he’ll help you.” “I dOnT eVeN kNoW wHo YoU aRe?!” “Golden Guard, but you can call me Hunter. Now let’s go. We need to get you checked out. If you're really not from this world, we can help.” “O-ok Hunter?” As they walk, Izuku passes some people with bird masks. “What’s with the masks?” Hunter perked up, and immediately started ranting. “They’re to show your rank! The different shapes and colors show what type you are in the Emperor’s Coven. I have a golden mask, Lilith has a white raven mask, and everyone else other than the emperor has a gray mask, with different variations depending. Of course the emperor has a horned golden mask to signify his-“ the blonde pauses, shaking his head. “You probably didn’t want to know all of that…” Izuku looks at him, green eyes sparkling with glee. “So everyone has a different type of mask showing their status? What’s a coven? Would you be willing to teach me magic? You have a golden mask, like the emperor, are you the next in line of something? This is all so cool!” Hunter looks shocked. “You like my rambling? No one’s ever…” Izuku springs forward, now walking backwards. “Of course! I do the same thing like all the time, and so do both of my friends, not to mention that half the time I don’t even realize and end up dissolving into muttering, honestly it’s really nice to find another person who does the same!” “Well, the coven system keeps us safe from wild magic, the same kind that cursed Emperor Belos. He uses the coven system to keep everyone safe, and he talks to the Titan to make sure he’s making the right choices. I can try, but I don’t know if you’ll be able to learn, you grew up on someplace called Earth right?” Izuku nods. “Humans can’t use magic. But! You don’t look human though, you don’t have pointy ears. I think.. Maybe you’re a witch? We’d have to check with the Emperor to be sure of course, but it’s a possibility.” The greenete stops completely. And his eyes widen. “There- I can’t-not possible!” He stutters out, eyes widening. “The doctors said it was a mutation in my ears and hair!” “Yeah but you could be a witch like me, who needs to use artificial magic to work, because your magic bile sack doesn’t work.” Izuku looks at Hunter with shock and fear painted all over his face. “But then who were my parents? And why did they abandon me in a completely different world? And w-why? Didn’t they want me?” Izuku’s breaths pick up. “Izuku no- breath bud, breath. In, out, in, out. There we go.” Hunter flashed Izuku a grin. “Anyway, don’t worry! Belos will know, he always does.” The two start walking once more. ——— “Emperor! My liege! Uncle? I came seeking counsel!” Hunter calls out, entering the throne room. “Ah, Hunter, and the stranger from another world, come children, let me help you.” A voice calls out, and Izuku sees a man with a golden mask with antlers on a throne. He walked forward, and the man placed his fingertips on his temples. “Hunter, stand back. I’m going to go into his mind.” And suddenly, Izuku is unconscious. ——— Izuku is hit by his new guardian and runs, to the library, to the park, tricking his best friend into coming to a different dimension. ——— “Further!” ——— Izuku, at ten, trying to pick up his food off the ground after the bullies smacked his tray down, and Luz coming to help him. “Hi, I’m Luz!” He looks around, and then points to himself. “Y-your t-talking T-T-to me?” “Yup Greenie!” “I’m I-I-Izuku.” ——— “FURTHER!” ——— “I’m not a girl! I’m a boy!” “Oh IZUMI I’m sure you don’t mean that~” “I’M A BOY!” “You are a girl.” A bang is heard, and a kick follows the punch that was hit. ——— “Not far Now!” ——— A flash of light, and a green haired woman, as well as a blonde, step through a portal. “She’ll be safer with you, and you know it.” The blonde woman hesitates, and kisses greenetes cheek. “I’ll miss you, Inko Blight. Good luck in the Boiling Isles.” “You as well miss Mindy Midoriya, you as well.” ——— Izuku comes back from the onslaught of memories slowly. “Were… were those my memories? Were those my moms?” “Indeed.” The Emperor puts his hand on Izuku’s shoulders. “Young man, you are the byproduct of something no one has ever dared to do. But because of this, you are special. You are one of the keys to the Titan’s plan.” “D-do you know what happened to my mother?” Belos crouched down, and looked into Izuku’s eyes. “Your mother here in the Demon Realm died in a terrible accident. Eda Clawthorne, otherwise known as the Owl Lady, is cursed by wild magic, and killed her in her beastly state.” Izuku’s eyes water, and he sinks down to the ground. “So I really have no one, don’t I. Not even here.” Hunter looks over, now listening due to the change in tone, and speaks up. “Uncle? Couldn’t he stay here? I- he’s my friend, I don’t want to abandon him. And we can teach him to protect himself!” Izuku looked up at Hunter, who had so boldly claimed him as a friend, and smiled. Belos saw this and grinned, for he knew that these two would be great assets. “Of course Hunter. He will become your assistant in the Emperor’s Coven, and you will teach him how to use artificial magic like yours, understood? For the Titan has big plans, big plans for the both of you.” “Thank you Uncle! You won’t regret this!” “Have the boy meet Lilith as well. She needs to know of these changes of course, as head witch.” Izuku let his tears fall. “You- you’re welcoming me? I- I’ve never- until Luz and then Marcy, I’ve never had anyone-“ his voice is cut off with the sob that is released from his throat. “There, there,” The emperor says, patting Izuku’s head. “You were the outcast, the weirdo, but now you’re a part of the Titan’s plan, you’re a part of our family. You will never have to be alone again. And do not worry, we will look for your human friends, they can’t be too far.” “Th-sniff- Thank you!” Izuku sobs. |
