Running, heavy breathing, darkness, reaching his hands out to feel anything, to steady himself, but he just can’t.
It’s open, it’s cold, and there’s nothing. He can feel his chest tighten, he doesn’t know this is all just a dream.
The realm of reality blurs as his eyes tear up in panic, faintly he hears something, someone calling his name.
‘-ook’ He tries to hear, tries to focus, ‘-Kook’ ‘Jungkook!’
He gasps, eyes fly open and he stares at the dim ceiling he is familiar with, he can feel a warm hand on his shoulder,
“Baby- are you okay?” A deep, yet calming voice laced with worry asks him.
He turns his head slightly to his right, his beautiful partner for life, Taehyung, looks on with wide eyes, flushed cheeks as his eyes dance around Jungkook’s face.
Feeling his breath begin to slow down to normal, he licks his lips, mouth dry. “Y-yes” He barely whispers out. “Bad dream..” he trails off, voice a little louder.
Taehyung frowns, his dark golden blonde bangs frail across his furrowed eyebrows, and large ears twitch.
“I’m sorry bun, you seem to have those often, what has been stressing you out lately?” Jungkook turns his head to their clock as Taehyung speaks.
1:32 am, he sighs and moves to lean on his shoulder, shoving his head into Taehyung’s chest whom in return wraps his arm that was already beneath the bunny around his shoulder, he can feel him give him a light kiss on his head, fluffing his dark brown bunny ears to calm him down and distract him.
“I don’t know… but when I went to sleep my mind just felt so..restless” Taehyung hums in understanding, Jungkook closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.
Still a bit shaken up but just hearing his husband’s voice, and feeling his embrace has been doing him wonders.
“I completely get it bun, my mind does that a lot.” He sighs out, hand still fluffing the bunny ears lightly, ‘so soothing’ Jungkook thought. “We tend to overthink and at night when we try to relax, there isn’t much we can distract our brains with, so the anxiety comes out”
Jungkook hums against the tigers chest, understanding. “But it’s okay because this is real,”
Taehyung says as he kisses one of the ears, making Jungkook giggle.
“Us, you in my arms, this bed, the decent weather tonight, the moon outside our window, our apartment” He kisses Jungkook’s ear again.
“My love for you, your love for me”
He then gently grabs Jungkook’s chin to lift his head up, staring eye to eye, Jungkook’s eyes flutter when Taehyung leans in and softly kisses his lips.
“That’s what’s real babe, and you are okay, you are safe.” Jungkook smiles, he snuggles his head back in Taehyung’s chest, to get even closer to him.
“Thank you, I am so thankful for you” He whispers, Taehyung chuckles, “and I am thankful for you too bun”
Before he knows it, Jungkook can feel his mind slipping back into slumber, Taehyung stays up a couple more minutes to make sure, he glances down and can see the smile on Jungkook’s face, his heart swells at the sight and happily falls asleep.
