Chapter Text

A ray of sunlight was peeking through the curtains inside of Cale's bedroom before Cale woke up. There was the sweet scent of breakfast coming in through the window. After getting dressed, he walks out to the balcony to find Choi Han with the children outside in the garden. He soon makes eye contact with Raon.

"Hey! The human's awake!" Raon shouts as he flies up to Cale.

Raon goes to land on Cale's shoulder, earning a pat on the head. Looking back out the balcony, he sees Choi Han waving at him alongside On and Hong.

"Come down for breakfast, Cale-nim!" Choi Han shouted energetically up the window, waving with On and Hong on him.

Cale looked down the window and looked at Raon. He really didn't want to use any of his Ancient Powers this early in the day, and he doesn't feel like flying as well.

"Hey Choi Han, can you carry me down?" He shouted down. "Sure, Cale-nim!" Choi Han shouts back up, as he puts On and Hong down before jumping onto the balcony. He proceeded to pick up Cale, bridal style before dropping him down onto the garden.

The moment was brief, but something happened.

Choi Han then turned away quickly, stuttering out an excuse before running off. Confused, Cale turned to the children.

All they did was give him the smirk.

Feeling flushed, Cale awkwardly coughed and quickly sat down. Choi Han returned soon after, refusing to make eye contact with Cale. This was perfectly fine with Cale as he isn't sure that he could maintain eye contact with Choi Han himself.

Ron brought the breakfast in, taking a quick glance at the table. Quickly realizing what is going on with how they fail to hide explicitly not looking at each other and how they're looking at everything else but the other person.

Quietly chuckling to himself, he sets the food down before asking the children to go with him on the excuse of how the morning is a good time to train. On was the first to leave, Hong quickly following behind her. Raon was less inclined to leave Cale's side before On mouthed something to him. He soon then left alongside the siblings. Ron followed them out the room, quietly closing the door behind him.

It was now only Cale and Choi Han that remained in the outside area.

Choi Han was nervously fiddling with his sword before hearing Cale sigh. Nervously turning towards him, he's met with Cale's piercing gaze.

"Well? Spit it out already," Cale said in a measured tone. Choi Han's heart can't help but beat faster for a second.

"W-well I think, Th-a-that uh, C-Cale-nim uh-" Choi Han stuttered, trying to get the words out but not able to. Cale interrupted him before he was able to continue stuttering.

"Take your time, we still have breakfast to get through so you've got plenty of time to think it through." He said patiently, already picking up a fork and knife to dig in. "A-Alright, Cale-nim!" Choi Han said, already feeling his heart rate slowly calming down.

After finishing their part of breakfast at the table, Choi Han was more confident in his endeavor.

"So, are you ready to say it or do you need more time?" Cale asked, turning to look at him.

"I love you, Cale-nim." Choi Han stated. It was as if it was a truth imprinted upon his heart, waiting to be uncovered under all the lies and half-truths.

A beat passes, and he quickly looks down in shame, previous confidence gone down the drain. Before he was able to cover it once again with a lie, he felt hands grabbing shoulders and looking up, he was met with Cale's face brimming with happiness.

"Say that one more time." He stated, holding onto his shoulders as he stood over him.

"I love you, Cale-nim?" He said, feeling a bit perplexed at Cale's expression.

Cale pulled him in for a quick kiss, before whispering to him as if what he was about to say next was something sacred;

"I love you too, Choi Han."

Speechless, Choi Han sat there and stared back at Cale, who has taken to cradling one side of his face with his hand, smiling at him.

The passes by quickly, with Cale now resting on his bed with one of his arms laying over his eyes. Deciding to leave the matter for tomorrow in the morning. Before he was able to sleep, he was called out for business which leads to him, Choi Han, and the kids being out for most of the night. It wasn't really worth it in Cale's opinion as he lost some precious sleep for a matter that wasn't even important.

Tomorrow came with being woken up by the children and getting dragged to breakfast by them. He pulls up a chair, sitting next to Choi Han who also seemed to be tired. Ron brings in the breakfast again, and sets a cup of lemon tea in front of Cale who looks at him with an exasperated expression. He merely smiles back before leaving the room.

It seems that tired Choi Han didn't have quite of a filter to his thoughts as everything seems to be coming out over breakfast when chatting with the children.

"From where I'm from, there was talk of soulmates and it was where a thing would appear linking you to some other person, it didn't matter what it was but it seemed as if the universe wanted you to be together." He explains to the kids.

"That would make it seem as if you are made to be, nya!" On replied, seeming to be pretty invested in this conversation.

"It doesn't work out all the time, and for some people it was as if there was no connection for them and another person. They're considered unlucky, especially if when the person they're pining for is someone who has a soulmate link. Relationships between soulmates don't always work out either." Cale adds into the conversation, wanting to prevent a possible delusion as he's seen it happen with some of the people around him.

"Cale-nim is right so that's why you always go with your heart!" Choi Han finishes happily, leaving On with sparkles in her eyes. "Your world is so cool!" On exclaimed, before Raon cuts into the conversation.

"Then that would mean that you and the Human are fated to be together, right?"

Choi Han sputters at that and quickly turns pink.

"Fate is a weighty word to throw around breakfast, don't you think?" Cale asks, chuckling at Choi Han's reaction.

"Fate's a bit of a strong word" Choi Han manages to squeak out, still flushed.

Cale laughs at that, with the children fading a bit into the background, he reached out to pull Choi Han's chin towards him and kissed him in front of the kids.

Later on in the night, Choi Han knocked on Cale's balcony, and when opened, carried him to a higher area of the estate.

With the full moon lighting up Choi Han's face, he stands a bit in front of Cale, holding a bundle of flowers in his hands.

Pushing the flowers towards Cale, he looks him in the eyes.

"I want these flowers for my official declaration of love to you, Cale-nim" He smiles.

Cale takes a step forward and brings Choi Han closer to him, kissing him under the full light of the moon.

Notes:

fun fact: this was written in a split-screen as I had the prompts pulled up on a separate window, and written to music the opposite of the mood I was trying to create with this :D

Kiss count: 3, which is the most I've ever written in my entire writing hobby.

hi hi! I wasn't sure how to fit star-crossed into this, sorry!

sorry for the people over at twitter and such since I'm not going to do fanart for chchweek. I found myself unable to get out of this art block ;^;
