Work Text:

“Are you sure you wanna do this?” Jules asks worriedly, flashing Cal a smile that doesn’t quite reach her eyes.

“Jules,” Cal says softly, cupping Jules’ face with her hand as she looks at her with the fondest smile Jules has ever seen.

There’s no way someone can be that pretty, Jules thinks to herself. The only thing she wants to do right now is kiss her and cuddle her and protect her from every bad thing in this world. Well, she wants that all the time, to be honest. It shouldn’t be healthy, but somehow it is.

“It’s just… I don’t want to hurt you.” Jules looks down at her fidgeting fingers. She’s nervous about this, but at the same time she’s excited. Giddy even.

“You won’t. I want this, baby.” Cal holds out her pinky finger, “I pinky promise you.”

Jules smiles so big she feels her cheeks hurting. She looks at Cal, trying to read her face, looking for something that is definitely not there. She then looks down at Cal’s finger, and holds out her own right pinky to intertwine it with hers. “Let’s do this, then.”

Cal gives her a reassuring smile and positions herself in front of Jules, tilting her head so her neck is on display. “Do it on my neck.” She says.

Jules is taken aback by this, figuring she was going to do it on her wrist. But she thinks it’s fair because, you know, given how things ended up last time she tried to do it on someone’s wrist and all that.

Okay let’s not go there. Not funny. No one laughed. (If she laughed internally then that’s no one’s business but her own.)

“Are you- Are you sure?” She asks, trying to stay calm no matter what happens.

Cal looks at her once again, her soft expression giving Jules so much comfort that she relaxes immediately. Cal blows her a kiss, which Jules pretends to grab and puts it in her back pocket where it will be safe. “I trust you.” She says. Her eyes looking directly into Jules’, sincere and open and so, so comforting. “Do you trust me?”

Cal doesn’t have to finish that thought because Jules is already nodding her head without hesitation, “Of course I do. I love you.”

Jules doesn’t miss the glow in her girlfriend’s face every time she says it. It’s her new favorite thing. “I love you too.” Cal says and Jules can hear her heart beating faster after that.

She gets so lost in the sound of Cal’s heart that Cal has to clap her hands together loudly, interrupting her thoughts, “Alright. You love me. I love you. You’re thirsty. Get on with it already.” They both giggle at that, and Jules can’t do anything but urge forward and connect their lips in a soft, caring kiss.

When their lips separate and they catch their breaths, Jules whispers, “Ready?”

Cal just smiles and gives her a quick nod.

Here goes nothing.

Jules gets her fangs out, suddenly nervous she’s gonna fuck this up. She can listen to a heartbeat, but she can’t figure out if it’s Cal’s heart or her own heart beating as fast as it possibly can. But adrenaline is taking over her, so she just goes for it. She gets closer to Cal’s neck, putting her hair aside as her fangs sink down into the exposed skin, ready to feed from her.

It’s an “out of this world” experience, if you ask Jules. Her views on feeding changed so much since the very first time she ever fed from someone. Back then she thought it wouldn’t be a big deal, or even important. But now she thinks it’s the coolest, most wonderful experience ever.

But this right here is different. Feeding from her girlfriend, the person she loves the most, is different somehow. She feels goosebumps all over her body, a spark of something going through her veins but she can’t really pinpoint what it is. Maybe it’s adoration for the girl sitting patiently while there’s a vampire feeding from her. Maybe it’s appreciation and love. It could be everything together, though.

This hasn’t happened before, with the other few people she has ever fed from. It’s a new sensation, and she will never want to go back to feeding from other people when she gets to feel this.

Jules keeps feeding from Cal then, feeling almost full. And she can already feel herself getting addicted to Cal’s taste. Addicted to the way Cal is so responsive to it, how she keeps letting out small noises from her pretty mouth. She can feel herself getting worked up, but she doesn’t know if it’s from the taste or from her girlfriend’s noises. It’s all too much, Jules thinks, but she knows when to stop.

So she does. She gets her fangs out of Cal’s neck and gasps for air. Feeling full and high on the feeling of drinking from her girlfriend. It’s all a great experience but then Jules remembers she needs to check on her girlfriend, “Cal? You okay?” She says, voice low and raspy. She then looks at Cal, worried for a second before she notices her girlfriend’s still breathing.

“Did I tell you how much I love your fangs?” Is the only reply Jules gets and she bursts out laughing. Cal joins her a few seconds later, both of them clutching their stomachs and laughing until it turns into giggles and their tummies hurt.

There’s still blood in her lips, she can taste it. But Cal doesn’t waste any more time, pressing their lips in an urgent, desperate kiss. Needy and hot, but also soft and slow. Jules is sure Cal can taste her own blood, but if she does then she doesn’t look like she cares.

Jules has never felt so loved and wanted in her life. She knows Cal is still practically a hunter, and their families hate each other. Hell, they want to kill each other, even. But nothing, and no one, can make her feel like she doesn’t belong here in this moment. Like they don’t belong together. Because they do, and they love each other so immensely it hurts.

So here, with the soft light of the moon falling over the young couple, embracing and protecting them, and Jules looking softly at the love of her life, she thinks she has never felt happier.
