In The Sick Bay

Work Text:

Down in the sick bay, two women were engaged in a battle of wills, of which only one could emerge victorious.

"Jinx, I am not having a staring contest with you right now."

"Reeeeally? Then what are we doing right now?"

"I just… I don't feel like blinking- Stop trying to distract me, Jinx, you have a bullet wound. Let me help, you reckless idiot!"

"And I told ya Blondie, I'm fine, it's tiny. I've had way worse!"

Lux narrowed her eyes, then held up her hands in surrender, "Fine, fine. Maybe we could do something more fun?"

"Ooooh, in the bay? Didn't think that'd be your style Blondie."

She smirked, "What can I say, I like to try new things. Now, close your eyes and sit."

Jinx obliged, sitting down on the edge of a cot, a little smugly. Jinx could feel Lux slowly lift her shirt off, then- A sudden pain shot through her side.

She yelped, her eyes shooting open, "The fuck, Lux!"

"Sorry, Jay, but it'll be a lot worse later if I don't get the bullet out now."

Jinx sucked in a breath through her teeth, "This is worse than actually being shot."

"Just a few seconds, promise."

Lux’s spare hand found Jinx’s, and she squeezed it tight.

"Okay, done."

Jinx let out a deep sigh.

“Just gotta bandage it.”

She pouted, but sat still whilst Lux wrapped it around her.

Jinx winced slightly as she finished tying it, but as Lux went to pull away, Jinx wrapped her arms tightly around her.

"You are not getting away so quickly after that betrayal," Jinx said, but Lux could hear the smile in her voice.

She gently brought her hand up to Jinx’s cheek, "What, was I supposed to let the love of my life bleed out?"

A very judgemental sounding cough from the doorway caused the two to jump apart.

"Am I interrupting something?" Miss Fortune asked, smirking.

Lux stood up straight, "N-no Captain, I was just patching up Jinx after the last fight."

Her gaze turned to the shirtless Jinx and she raised an eyebrow.

Jinx smirked back, and shrugged, "Removing shrapnel, shirts get in the way."

"Of course. Just so you're both aware, these beds are not the most convenient for any… strenuous activities."

Lux nodded, bright red, "Yes Ma'am."

The Captain chuckled, before turning and leaving them alone in the bay.

Jinx glanced up, smiling innocently, "So, my bed or…?"

"Jinx!"
